Well teh HABS with a miniscule lineup mostly rooks and hopefulls beat Crosby and most of the roster from last season tonight in OT 3-2 I got to watch it on RDS which by the way will switch to HD on Oct 3rd for all of the HABS home games and 20 of their away games so I am going to get tonnes of HD HABS games this season. BTW what the hell was Maurice thinking guaranteeing the Laffers would make the playoffs and have a good playoff run. If they do make the post season and are out in rd 1 he has prety much kissed his job goodbye although maybe that was his idea from the getgo LOL.

Go Leafs GoOMG I am also going to that game. If you don't mind me asking where are you're seats? My Dad and I are sitting in section 117, row B and he was able to get them off Ticketmaster website.
The only difference is we are picking the tickets at will call, because he was not sure how to get them mailed because it said nothing about mailing to Canadian customers.

I have to vent somewhere --- the Sabres/Penguins Winter Classic outdoor game for January 1 sold out 73,000 tickets in less than 15 minutes, yet they were for sale on eBay before they officially went on sale. I'll get tickets for the game, actually I already do, but how is this even possible?

They were probably all sold to companies like Ticketmaster. You know, the legalized scalpers.

I have set up a Yahoo league if you are interested. The league is called DisCanada (id 53959) and the password is disney. It is set to be an auto-pick draft so the computer will do all the work for you.

Ummmm hello- {poking head in and asking} is it ok to post here if you are NOT from Canada but still love hockey?? :confused3
My youngest son, who is 10, ~ loves, loves, ok more like is obssesed with hockey and questions why we won't move to Canada- because he feels he was meant to be born there. When I say that kid has a stick in his hand every waking hour he can, I'm not kidding.
I homeschool and even while doing school work he is itching to hit pucks. I was reading to him the other day and he insisted on going out in the driveway to shoot pucks and he could still hear me! Last night at 11 pm he was crying because I was telling him to take off the pads and get into bed. I'm such a mean mommy, ya know! I'm not sure how to handle this obsession. It's all he thinks about- talks about- there has to be more to life than hockey? I would think??? {yikes, I'm going to get yelled at, aren't I?}
He plays hockey here in the south- yes, the sport is actually growing here by numbers no one can believe. It's all the yankees moving down from the North. {former NYer here} We seem to live at the rink. Between practice, lessons, games, free skate, free play... I'm there all of the time. His games are at 6 am on Saturdays- and I'm not a morning person! I keep thinking he'll give up the obsession any time now. It only grows! :scared:
He actually got his lessons from a retired pro-player. {you'll have to excuse me, I'm not good with the hockey lingo} I'm not sure I can mention his name on here? He's from Canada. Great guy! We love him. My son loves to watch his fights on youtube.
He also went to hockey camp with our local AA team- who was from Canada. It only made my son want to go to Canada even more.
He's counting down to the first game- and is thrilled we'll be there. And many more all year.
I'm just wondering how to handle a child that is obsessed and wants to do nothing but play hockey- and really thinks he'll go pro. I've had to gently break the news to him... that really won't happen. As one of our Checker players {AA team?} corrected me and told me not to cut him out. His size alone will get him far. If only I had experience with this- or advice on how to keep going. It's so expensive and takes up the entire family life.
Our friend just sent her son to Canada to boarding school to play hockey, now my son won't stop asking when he's going!!!!
Besides a few moms at the rink, no one else understands this. But I figured I found a goal with this thread! sorry, couldn't resist.
Thanks for listening- sorry to ramble. :flower3:
Any advice would be great... as long as it's nice. As my decal on the car says- My hockey mom beat up your soccer mom. So I'm not afraid to go there. :rotfl:

EDIT: Sorry I just reread your post. I thought you meant that he was small.... Briere is still good though

Well, that info would have been great to know when my oldest decided to stop playing because he was always so little for his age. He hated being so little / small.
My son that is playing now is bigger than all the kids his age- he's our little enforcer. :rotfl: Not only taller but has the buff behind him. Does that even make sense? I mean he's not a green bean- like my oldest son. He's not fat either.... just filled out. :rotfl:
On skates he's like 5' 1" and 103 lbs at 10 years old. My oldest son is 18 and all of 5' 6" and barely 125 lbs wet. So to compare the 2- you can see the difference.

I feel for you. We went through the obsession with our now 12 year old. He played AAA, and AA competitive hockey until this year. His dream was also to go to the NHL (like any good Canadian hockey playing boy). I just kept stressing to him that while it was great to have a dream, school comes first above all else. If the NHL is meant to be it will be. The odds are just so small of anyone making it to the NHL. Most hockey players end up in the beer leagues eventually. It is far more important that he have fun and enjoy the time he plays than to obsess about where he is going to go.
There will come a time in the not to distant future when he will just decide that's it he's had enough. Don't sweat the small stuff now. It will all sort itself out the way its supposed to be.

I am no fan of Saku and never really have been ya he has heart but he is just to darn injury prone and isn't IMHO a good leader for the HABS. That interview was a prime example ok I feel we will make the playoffs but we won't win a cup now does this sound like something your captain should be saying.

You can edit your rosters at anytime (unless a game has started).

I just read that Ramage was found guilty. What a sad story for all involved.
Wed. October. 10 2007 6:50 PM ET
Former Toronto Maple Leaf captain Rob Ramage has been found guilty on all counts in the fatal car crash that killed his passenger, former Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Keith Magnuson, nearly four years ago.
Ramage looked straight ahead and showed little emotion when the verdict was delivered in a Newmarket, Ont. courtroom late Wednesday afternoon, CTV's John Musselman reported.
Ramage's family wept after hearing the verdict, which was returned after four-and-a-half hours of deliberations by the eight-man, four-woman jury.
Ramage was released on bail and will return for sentencing on Jan. 17.
Outside court, Ramage called the ordeal a tragedy for both families, Musselman said.
"It has taken a huge personal toll on Rob, his wife and his three children," Ramage's lawyer Brian Greenspan told reporters.
"Now it will take an even greater toll because the conviction will end up with him having to leave the life he has built in St. Louis over a long period of time."
Ramage was driving Magnuson, 56, home in December 2003 after they attended the funeral of NHL Alumni Association chair Keith McCreary in nearby Bolton.
The pair was travelling eastbound when the rented Chrysler Intrepid crossed over the centre median and smashed into a Nissan Pathfinder in Woodbridge, northwest of Toronto.
Magnuson died instantly due to head and chest injuries sustained in the head-on collision.
Ramage had pleaded not guilty to five charges, including impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
During the trial, court heard that post-crash test results showed Ramage had at least two-and-half and perhaps nearly four times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and urine.
Greenspan argued Ramage was sober during the time of the accident and that blood and urine samples were flawed.
A nurse admitted in court she used an alcohol swab to take samples and not the approved non-alcohol kit.
The jury also heard that when Ramage was pulled from the mangled vehicle he didn't remember driving the car and was confused as to who the passenger was.
A number of York police officers testified there was a pungent smell of alcohol emanating from the wreckage and from Ramage's breath.
However, other emergency workers testified Ramage did not appear inebriated while receiving treatment.
Ramage was captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1989 to 1991. During his 15-year career, he also played for the Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens, winning Stanley Cups with both teams.
A number of former Leaf players attended the courthouse during the trial to show their support for Ramage.
With a report from CTV's John Musselman

Let's hope the three Canadians team at least get through the first series.
It's been too long of a drought for the Canadiens (Please no cheap shots against other cities).
Not really a big hockey fan just love my hometown of Montreal.

Game 2

Penguins take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Well after a lacklustre game the HABS still come away with a 2-0 series lead.

I will very happily take the win in game 2 and thank my lucky stars. Habs were outplayed for large portions of the game, but squeaked through. Man that Kovalev has a scary shot. After that penalty in the third, he needed to redeem himself.

I definitely think the Pens have a good shot at sweeping this series in four games after the last game.

It too bad the Canadiens lost. It was a close game at 2-1.
You really think they blew or did Boston play a little better?

IMHO they blew it they aren't playing their game they aren't using their speed or being very physical. Thomas sure did save teh B's last nighjt but the HABs should have not even been in a 1-1 situation to begin with.

RIP Sens.
Let's hope the Canadiens and Flames can keep the Canada in the playoffs.

Well the Pens threw their last game of the season to get the matchup in the first round that they wanted and the SENS are now bounced. I hope the Flyers punish the Pens in the second round. Carter and Richards will hammer CINDY Crosby all series long it is going to be great.

Alfredsson had a third grade MCL tear he was playing with. You have to respect that. That is insane.
