Hi Everyone!

Welcome to my very first dining report.
After reading so many great dining reports on Disboards, I decided I would go ahead and give it a try. We were in Disney from September 5-10 2007, staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. It is everyone’s first time on the dining plan and the best part…it was FREE dining!

I hope you all enjoy!

Cast:
Me (Cat), 26 - I am a Disney freak and the planner of this trip (and all the other Disney trips we’ve taken). I love planning Disney trips, even if I’m not going on them. I’ve had people ask me to help them plan and I happily agree because it makes me feel like I’m going to be part of the fun. I LOVE Disney. It is my home and my happy place. There is no other place I’d rather be.
I love seafood, sushi, anything that has cheese on it and I am total carb addict. I’m not really a big fan of meat, but I could be in the mood for it once in a while. I would usually prefer to have a salad or a plate of pasta over a steak. However, when it comes to desserts and junk food, there isn’t anything I don’t like.

Jesse (DBF), 25 – Jesse loves Disney also, but he’s not as out of control as I am. Before we began dating, he had only been to Disney World when he was a kid. I went a few times without him because he just had no desire to go. Then finally, in November 2006, he told me he would take me to Disney! He was doing it more for me because he knew I really wanted him to come with me some day. It would be our first Disney trip together and I was so excited. Ever since that trip, he was hooked! Fast forward to September 2007 and this was our 5th trip to the World together.
Jesse loves burgers, steak, and pizza. He pretty much likes all kinds of meat and likes to try new things. The only thing he doesn’t like is fish and he is allergic to seafood.

Elaine (Jesse’s sister), 37 – Elaine usually goes to Disney once a year during November when they have the Super Soap Weekend. The trips were more for the Soap stars than for Disney…until she started going to Disney with me. She came with Jesse and me on our November 2006 trip (which happened to be during Super Soap Weekend) and we introduced her to park hopping and rides. She has now branched out from her annual one day at MGM trips.
Like me, Elaine loves seafood and sushi. She also likes steaks and burgers and definitely has a soft spot for sweets.

Phil (Jesse & Elaine’s cousin), 34 – This is Phil’s first trip since he was about 13 years old. He doesn’t remember too much from that trip, but he is excited to experience it for the first time as an adult.
Phil loves to eat! He will eat anything and everything (except anything with parsley or cilantro in it). He loves seafood, any kind of meat, definitely not a picky eater and likes to try new things. Whenever there was leftover food, it would go to Phil.

Special appearances by: Michele (DS), 21 – The other Disney freak. Michele is currently a CM in the college program at Disney. When she found out that she got into the college program, she was so excited. I was so jealous that she was going to get to live in Disney for the next 4 months. She arrived in Disney for the program shortly before us. We would meet up from time to time when she got off work to hang out and of course EAT! Michele loves to eat just like the rest of us. She’s not a very picky eater, the only thing she doesn’t like is fish. Like me, she loves desserts and junk food.

I do want to thank Jesse, Elaine, Phil, & Michele for being so patient with me and giving me time to take pictures before they attacked their food!:flower3:

Now, back on track….here is a list of the places I will be reviewing:

Table Service
Boma (dinner) – 1st time
Coral Reef (lunch) – 1st time
Narcoosees (dinner) – 1st time
Ohana (dinner) – 4th time

Counter Service
Earl of Sandwich
Main Street Bakery
Columbia Harbour House
Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory (P.O.F.Q food court)
Sunshine Seasons
Wolfgang Puck Express
And various snack locations

And now on with the food porn….

Day 1 - 9/5/07 Wednesday

Earl of Sandwich

Jesse, Phil, and I had a 9:00pm flight out of La Guardia airport on JetBlue. Elaine took an earlier flight and had gotten to P.O.F.Q and checked in by about 8:30pm. Elaine went to Downtown Disney to walk around while waiting for us to arrive. Jesse and Phil asked her to pick up something for them at Earl of Sandwich because they knew they would be hungry by the time we got there. We landed in Orlando around 11:30pm. When we got to our room, Elaine was waiting for us with the sandwiches. She used 2 counter service credits for this meal. She got them each the “original 1762” sandwich, bottle of juice, and a brownie and cupcake for dessert.

Cost (if paying OOP): $21.20

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02861.jpg

This sandwich has roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce.

Jesse has had this sandwich before. He said it was still good, but there seemed to be less meat in it than last time. This was Phil’s first time eating this sandwich and he thought it was very good. The brownie was good as well, very moist. We saved the cup cake for tomorrow since everyone was full.

Day 2 – 9/6/07 Thursday
Main Street Bakery, Columbia Harbour House, & Boma

Main Street Bakery – 8:30am

Today we went to Magic Kingdom for morning emh. We stopped by the Main Street Bake Shop for breakfast. It took about 5 minutes to pick out and pay for our food and we got a table right away. We got an apple turnover, ham egg & cheese croissant, and a cinnamon roll to share. We paid OOP for this meal.

Cost: $15.82

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02862.jpg

The apple turnover was ok, nothing special. It tasted like one of those packaged pastries you can buy at the supermarket. I think it would have tasted better if it had been warmed up a little bit. The ham egg & cheese croissant was delicious. It was hot and fresh, the whole thing just kind of melted in your mouth. The cinnamon roll was huge. It was light, sweet, and very good.

*Note: We paid OOP for this meal because we wanted to “save” our credits. We were afraid to use up so many credits on the first day, but at the end of our trip we still had a lot of our credits to spare. We had about 10 left over the day before we left. So, the lesson here is: don’t hoard your credits because there are plenty of them.

Columbia Harbour House – 11:00am

Cost: $27.72

After we got off IASW, we were heading into Frontierland towards Splash Mountain when we felt hungry again. We stopped in Pecos Bill to look at the menu, but didn’t see anything we liked. We decided to walk back and go to Columbia Harbour House. It was almost completely empty when we got inside. We were second on line to order our food. We decided to order 2 meals here and share since we had an ADR for 4:40pm at Boma.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02873.jpg
Columbia Harbour House menu

Jesse and I ordered the Captain's Special which came with french fries, a bottle of water, and the apple crisp for dessert. He ate the chicken strips and I ate the fish. Phil ordered the Half Sandwich and Cup of Soup. He got the Starboard Deck sandwich and the New England clam chowder, fountain drink, and the chocolate cake for dessert.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02875.jpg
(Jesse & Me) Fried Chicken Strips and Fish with french fries & Apple Crisp

Jesse loves the chicken strips at WDW (so do I) and this was my first time eating the fish at Columbia Harbour House. After blotting some of the oil off the fish and dipped in tartar sauce, it was very good. The fries were also good and helped fill us up. We only took a few bites of the apple crisp because it was not very good. It was very bland.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02874.jpg
(Phil) This sandwich has ham with tomatoes, broccoli slaw and cheese.

Phil really like his sandwich, he said it was a pretty good size for it being only half a sandwich. He also really enjoyed the clam chowder, it was rich, creamy and had a lot of flavor. The chocolate cake was moist and fudgy. Elaine mostly picked at each of the 2 meals and also ate the cup cake that we saved from Earl of Sandwich he night before.

Boma – 4:40pm

Cost: $129.43

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02899.jpg

Michele had called to tell me that she wasn’t working today and wanted to join us for dinner. Since our ADR was booked for a party of 4, I had to call Disney dining and see if I could add another person on. Unfortunately, they were all booked up and then next available seating for a party of 5 wasn’t until 9:00pm. So it doesn’t look like she will be eating with us tonight.

We starting heading over to Animal Kingdom Lodge around 4:15pm for our 4:40pm ADR. We got there right at 4:40 and checked in. They handed me a pager and told us it would go off when our table was ready. I gave the pager to Jesse and went into the bathroom to wash my hands. When I came out, the pager had just gone off and we were headed to our table. Our server Maureen, came to our table to greet us right away. She took our drink orders and explained how the buffet works and what kinds of foods were being offered. Maureen was very friendly and attentive. Our drinks were refilled in a timely manner and as soon as we were finished with a plate, she was right there to take them away. For drinks, Jesse and Elaine got coke. A lot of people on Dis rave about the frunch that they serve here during breakfast. I really wanted to try it, so I asked Maureen if I could still have it even though it was dinner time. She said sure, so Phil and I ordered it. I am so glad that I did because it was delicious. During this meal, I just took pictures and reviewed what I ate. I was too hard to keep track of what everyone else was eating on top of it, so I hope that’s ok.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02887.jpg
FuFu, pap & sheeba, 3 kinds of hummus (sun dried tomato, black olive, & white bean), potatoes with afritude, geelry’s rice, and potato & bacon soup.

The FuFu I believe was kind of sweet potato and regular potato mash. I thought it was ok. The pap & sheeba was excellent. It tasted like rice pudding and had tomatoes on top of it. It was a little bit sweet and really good. The hummus was also excellent. They were seasoned really well and tasted great with the “crackers” (sorry, they had an actual name for them, but I don’t remember what it was) they came with. The potatoes with afritude were basically potatoes with a lot of seasoning. It was interesting, but I did not have seconds of these. The Geelry’s rice was a seasoned yellow rice, but didn’t have that much flavor. The soup was really good. I was creamy, rich, and the bacon gave it a little bit of a smoky flavor.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02888.jpg
Coca Cola pork loin, more Pap, shrimp cous cous, mushroom soup, and bobotie.

The pork loin was very tender and moist. The shrimp cous cous was served cold and was very refreshing. The mushroom soup was good in the beginning, but would get kind of overwhelming as the mushroom flavor was so strong. If you really like mushrooms, then you will probably like this soup. The bobotie was excellent. It kind of looks like a beef patty. It had very well seasoned ground beef on the inside of this sort of puff pastry. It was spicy, but not hot. At this point I was getting really full and was ready for dessert.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02889.jpg
Zebra dome, fruit tartlet, passion fruit meringue, chocolate chip cookie & apple crumble

The zebra domes were so good, very rich and just melted in your mouth. I also really liked the fruit tartlet. They had strawberry and blueberry tartlets. The passion fruit meringue was very tart, just took a bite of it. The apple crumble tasted kind of weird. I think it was cooked with some sort of alcohol and you can really taste it. I was way too full to even take a bite that cookie.
At the end of our meal, Maureen told us that coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were also included in the dining plan. Jesse and Elaine ordered coffee, Phil ordered tea, and I was too stuffed to have anything else. Maureen brought us our bill, we signed it and left her an extra $10. Overall everyone enjoyed this meal. There were a lot of new and interesting foods to try. I think we would definitely come back to Boma again.

Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory (P.O.F.Q food court), Coral Reef, Sunshine Seasons

Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory – 9:21am

Cost: $34.92

The food court was surprisingly calm today. I thought that with it being free dining, it would be a mad house. Everyone got their food, paid, at sat down in about 10minutes. I ordered the Mickey waffles with sausage, a bottle of water and orange juice. Jesse got the Bounty Platter with 2 bottles of apple juice. Phil ordered the King Creole Platter with an orange juice and bottle of water. Elaine shared with us and had a cup of coffee with my souvenir mug.

The Mickey waffles and sausage we great as always (I’m a sucker for things shaped like Mickeys). Phil said the home fries were excellent, eggs were good, and bacon was overdone. Jesse’s meal was almost the same as Phil’s and agreed with his comments.

Tri City Popcorn stand– 11:56am

Cost: $3.29

After breakfast we headed over to MGM. It was really hot and humid that day so Elaine decided to use a snack credit for a Minute Maid strawberry frozen lemonade (sorry, no picture – I wasn’t there when she got it). It was cold and delicious, the perfect snack for a hot day.

Beverly Sunset – 1:44pm

Cost: $3.95

Jesse and Phil wanted to go on ToT, so Elaine and I walked around in some of the shops while we waited for them. Elaine really wanted to try a piece of fudge, so we used another snack credit. By the time we paid for the fudge, the boys got back and we were heading to Epcot for our lunch ADR at Coral Reef.

Elaine ate the fudge while we waited for the Epcot bus. I didn’t have any, but it looked really good. Elaine really enjoyed it.

Coral Reef - 2:30pm

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02922.jpg

Cost: $211.88

On our way to Coral Reef, it started drizzling. When we got to Coral Reef and checked in, it was 2:30pm and our ADR was for 2:50pm. When we checked in, the cast member told us that they were a little bit backed up and that we won’t be seating until probably 15 – 20 minutes after our ADR time. We said that was fine and looked over the menu while we waited. The lobby was crowded with a lot of people waiting for their tables. :crowded: All the benches were taken, so we just ended up sitting on the floor with a bunch of other people. At this point it was pouring outside and I noticed multiple groups of walk ins being turned away, which made me glad that I made these ADRs back in June. I will admit that I was a little bit nervous about Coral Reef as I had read a lot of mixed reviews. I decided that despite all the reviews, good or bad, I wanted to try this place and see for myself. Finally, they called our name at 3:25pm (35 minutes after our ADR time).
As the hostess was taking us to our table, I suddenly realized how small this restaurant was. This was my first time here and I always imagined it to be so much bigger. Anyway, we got to our table and it was next to the tank! I was so excited!

Our table, next to the tank

A shark swimming by

A couple minutes later, our server, Jenny came to greet us and get our drink orders. We had a lot of time to look over the menu in the lobby, so we all knew what we wanted and were ready to order everything. Jenny explained to us that some of the special non-alcoholic drinks were also included on the dining plan and we were more than welcome to order those as well. Jesse, Phil, and Elaine ordered the Sour Apple Freeze and I ordered the Strawberry Freeze.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02938.jpg

The sour apple freeze tasted like a pina colada with apple in it and the strawberry freeze was basically a strawberry daiquiri. Both of these drinks were so good and very refreshing.
Later, Jenny brought us some bread and butter. This bread was delicious! The crust was crunchy and the inside was chewy. I think Elaine liked this bread the most out of all of us though.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02943.jpg

Shortly after the bread, our appetizers came. Jesse ordered the sea & land (since he is allergic to seafood, he ate the land and gave me the sea :) ), the grilled New York strip (medium), and the Bailey & Jack Daniels chocolate mousse. I ordered the crab claw salad, lobster salad, and Bavarian cheese cake. I was having trouble deciding whether I wanted to lobster soup or the crab claw salad as my appetizer. Then, I saw that the lobster salad entrée came with the lobster soup on the side. So, crab claw salad it is! Phil ordered the sea & land, New York strip (medium-rare), and the citrus crème brulee. Elaine ordered the New England cod cake, lobster salad, and the chocolate wave. Notice how we all got different desserts so that we could try all of them :yay:.
Appetizers:
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02946.jpg
(Jesse and Phil) Sea and Land - grilled shrimp with cucumber salad and barbecued beef skewer with creamy polenta

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02944.jpg
(Me) Crab Claw Salad - served with couscous and frisee salad with citrus vinaigrette and mango-garlic mayonnaise

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02945.jpg
(Elaine) New England Cod Cake - served with remoulade and topped with micro greens

Phil liked both the land & sea of his appetizer. Elaine said her cod cake was a little mushy, but still liked the flavor. Jesse enjoyed his land. The sea (shrimp) part of Jesse’s appetizer was very good and flavorful. My crab claw salad was awesome. The dressing went very well with the salad and the crab claws were fresh, sweet, and delicious.

Entrees:
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02948.jpg
(Jesse and Phil) Grilled New York Strip - served with potatoes au gratin and beef demi-glace

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02947.jpg
(Elaine and Me) Lobster Salad on a toasted baguette and a cup of lobster soup and mixed greens

Phil and Jesse both really liked their steaks. They were cooked perfectly and the sauce went really well with it
Elaine and I both liked our lobster salads as well. I wasn’t crazy about the bread that it came on so I just used the bread that we got before the meal. The lobster salad was pretty good. The celery gave it a little bit of a crunch and it wasn’t a heavy meal that made you want to go into a coma afterwards. The lobster soup was very creamy, but you could really taste the brandy they put in it. I think I would’ve liked it more if the brandy flavor was more subtle, but the soup wasn’t bad. Elaine and I couldn’t finish our lobster salads, so naturally we gave the rest to Phil, who thought it was very good too.

Desserts:
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02950.jpg
(Phil) Citrus Creme Brulee, (Elaine) The Chocolate Wave

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02951.jpg
(Jesse) Bailey's and Jack Daniel Mousse, (Me) Bavarian Cheesecake

When the desserts came, we all pretty much just pushed the plates into the middle of the table and tried them all. They were all really good. My favorite would probably be the chocolate wave. It was warm, chocolatey, fudgy, and just delicious. It definitely could have used some ice cream though. Luckily, I remembered reading on the Disboards to be careful of the cherries that come with the chocolate wave as they are soaked in brandy. Unluckily for Jesse, I forgot to tell him not to eat them. Suddenly, I hear “Ugh! Eww!” and he spit that cherry out so fast I couldn’t even catch a glimpse at the disgusted look on his face. :lmao: I felt bad for forgetting to tell him, but it was kind of funny. My next favorite would be the Bavarian cheesecake. This dessert was really light and creamy. The raspberry sauce that came with it was really good too. Jesse said it had no taste, but Phil and I liked it. Next would be the citrus crème brulee. By the time I made it to this dessert, all the crunchy sugar on top was already gone. It was still really good though, very citrus-y. This was Phil’s favorite dessert. Elaine and Jesse’s favorite was the Bailey’s and Jack Daniel Mousse. I took a few bites of it and thought it was good, but I was more into the other desserts. Jesse said the bottom layers were a little too alcoholy for him, but otherwise it was good.

Jenny was really nice and attentive, we left her an extra $5. We were all really stuffed by the end of this meal. I’m glad that I decided to come here, everything was delicious. I would definitely like to come back to Coral Reef on my next trip. When we left the restaurant, it was bright and sunny outside again!

(Michele) Pork chop with mashed potatoes & rice, carrot cake, and a Powerade.

She said the pork chop was ok. I think she liked the potatoes and rice. She loved the carrot cake though. Now that I think about it, I wish I had tried some of that cake, but I was still so full from lunch.

Wolfgang Puck Express – 10:16pm

Cost: $15.07

After we watched Illuminations at Epcot, we went to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping. Phil and Elaine we getting hungry so they went to Wolfgang Puck Express, while Michele and I looked around Mickey’s Pantry. When we were done, we went to go look for Phil and Elaine. Phil ordered the pepper and mushroom pizza, a chocolate chip cookie, and mango iced tea.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02966.jpg

Phil was very impressed with the pizza. He said it was very tasty and filling.

Elaine paid OOP for a Caesar salad which I believe was $6.25. Michele and I ate some of her salad too. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the salad. The salad was very good. It was flavorful and cheesy (and we all know how I feel about cheese..yum.)

Goofy’s Candy Co. – 11:19pm

Cost: $14.91

At this point we still had 18 snack credits left and I had always wanted to make my own Mickey rice krispy treat at Goofy’s Candy Co., so off we went. When you go up to the counter, they have little forms for you to fill out. You get to choose a rice krispy treat, 3 pretzel rods, or an apple. Then, you check off whether you want it dipped in white chocolate, milk chocolate, or dark chocolate. Finally, you get to coat it in sprinkles, Oreo cookie crumbs, M&Ms,…the list goes on. Its really cute. I chose a Mickey rice krispy treat (told you I love things shaped like Mickeys), dipped in milk chocolate, covered in rainbow sprinkles, and a caramel drizzle on top. Elaine also got the Mickey rice krispy treat, dipped in milk chocolate, and covered in Oreo cookie crumbs. Phil also decided to pick up a box of cookies and a bag of trail mix. We used up 4 snack credits, with another 14 to go.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02968.jpg

Let me tell you…this rice krispy treat was sooooooo delicious. Every bite had caramel, sprinkles, chocolate, rice krispy..it just doesn’t get any better. It was heaven on a stick! If I wasn’t so full this whole trip, I definitely would’ve gotten another one. Elaine really loved hers too.

Michele was finally able to meet up with us! We were in Innoventions trying out the Segways when she called. After we met up, we all headed over to The Land because we were going to be able to use our Soarin fast passes soon. Michele was really hungry so we stopped at Sunshine Seasons so she could get something to eat.

Just curious. Did the pork come with rice and mashed potatoes or were those sides ordered. It just seems like a lot of carbs to me.

Great review - I can't wait to hear about Narcossee's - I have yet to try it. And I know exactly what you mean about planning Disney vacations, I love to plan them even if I'm not going on the trip, imagine how excited I get planning my own. Thanks for taking all the wonderful pictures and the time to put it all together. I am inspired for my upcoming trip.

I know what you mean. I was a little nervous about it also because of all the reviews. I was glad I decided to try it anyway because I wanted to experience it for myself. I ended up having a great time and a really good meal. My thinking is that if you don't go just because some people were unhappy with it, you could be cheating yourself out of what could have been a great experience. My parents always taught me to try everything once and if you don't like it, just don't do it again. In this case, I'm glad I tried it. Have fun on your trip!

Day 4 – 9/8/07 Saturday: Earl of Sandwich & Narcoosees

Earl of Sandwich – 11:42am

Cost: $50.40

Today was our day off from the parks. We rented a car for today to go shopping at the outlets and the Mall at Millenia. After we picked up our car, we headed to Downtown Disney because we were going to Earl of Sandwich for lunch. Phil had the Cannonballs sandwich, a soda, and a cup cake. Elaine had the Frenchy sandwich, bottle of water, and a cup cake. I had the BLT sandwich, bottle of water, and a bag of chips. Jesse got the Original 1762 sandwich (again), soda, and an apple/cinnamon baked muffin crowns.

(Phil) Cannonballs - meatballs in a tomato sauce with provolone and mozzarella cheese

(Elaine) Le Frenchy - ham with creamy French brie and dijonnaise sauce

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02973.jpg
(Me) Best BLT - bacon, lettuce, tomato, on crusty bread

I didn't take another picture of this sandwich, but if you missed it, it is posted on page 1.
(Jesse) The Original 1762

Everything was good as always. I love Earl of Sandwich because there is a lot of variety. Can't go wrong with this place:).

Michele called me while we were eating and said she was done with work. We picked up a Hawaiian BBQ sandwich for her and headed over to her dorm to pick her up. Then, it was off to SHOP!!

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02975.jpg
(Michele) Hawaiian BBQ - Hawaiian BBQ ham, grilled chicken, with fresh pineapple and Swiss cheese

Michele always gets this at Earl of Sandwich. So I think it is safe to say that she enjoyed it very much.

Narcoosees – 9:25pm

Cost: $363.25

Michele’s cost: $27.64

We originally had an ADR for Narcoosees at 8:30 for the 4 of us. When I found out that Michele was working the morning shift, I called Disney dining to see if we could add 1 more person to the reservation. They said the only availability for a party of 5 was at 9:25pm. We just took it because Michele really wanted to have dinner with us. I was really excited about eating here because I’ve read a lot of good reviews and there were so many yummy things on the menu.

After all the shopping, we got back to the room around 7:00pm. We showered, got dressed, and headed to the Grand Floridian. We arrived at Narcoosees around 9:15pm, the restaurant was pretty empty. As soon as you walk through the front door of the restaurant, you can see the open kitchen directly to your left (why am I telling you this you ask? you’ll see…). To your right, is a door that leads to a balcony that overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can see Cinderella’s castle, space mountain, and the Contemporary Resort from there, its a beautiful view. The Electrical Water Pageant had just started, so we took some pictures and watched some of the pageant, it was really cute.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02978.jpg
Here is one of the pictures we took out on the balcony. From left to right, its Jesse, Me, Phil, and Elaine.

Our name was called right at 9:25pm and we were brought to our table. Susie, our server came over to get our drink orders while we looked at the menu. We all ordered sodas and Michele got a hot pear tea. Everything on the menu looked so good. Sometimes its good to be with a group of people, that way you can each get a different thing and everyone can share. That is exactly what we did. :idea:Phil ordered the Prince Edward Island Mussels, Elaine got the fried oysters (it was that day’s special), I got the fried calamari, and Jesse got the crab cakes. Jesse was a good sport because he is allergic to seafood/shellfish and couldn’t eat any of the appetizers. He could’ve gotten the salad for his appetizer, but he was nice enough to get the crab cakes so the rest of us could try it . Michele did not order any appetizers as she was paying OOP for her meal.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC02994-1.jpg
(Elaine) Fried Oysters with two dipping sauces
Sorry, it wouldn't let me resize this picture

Everything was really delicious. The fried calamari and oysters were not greasy at all. They were really crispy and had so much flavor. The mussels were soaked in this really good sauce, which gave them a really buttery flavor. Phil was dipping the garlic bread he got with it in the sauce also. He loved his appetizer. Last but not least, the crab cakes. They were slightly sweet and had a lot of flavor. Every appetizer dish was wiped clean!
We were really excited about our entrees because appetizers were so amazing.

For entrees, Phil and I got the steamed whole Maine lobster. I was debating between that and the grilled sea scallops, but I was really in the mood for lobster. Elaine got the grilled filet mignon and butter-poached lobster tail. Jesse ordered the grilled filet mignon and Michele ordered the summer vegetables (also a special for that day).

(Phil and Me) Steamed Whole Maine Lobster - citrus rice and roasted asparagus

(Elaine) Grilled Filet Mignon and Butter-Poached Lobster Tail - potato gratin and green peppercorn brandy sauce

(Michele) Summer Vegetables - wild mushroom risotto, hearts of palm slaw, heirloom tomato tabbouleh, and crispy haricot vert with wasabi mayo

After having such delicious appetizers, we had high expectations for our entrees. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint! That lobster was the best lobster I have ever had. It was fresh and just so good. Everything was already “pre-cracked” so all you had to do was pull the meat out with a fork. I could tell Phil was really loving his lobster as well. He said it was one of the best he’s had. Jesse said his filet mignon was perfect. Very tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Elaine enjoyed her filet mignon as well, but said she liked our lobster better than hers. The lobster tail was not a Maine lobster so she said it didn’t taste as good as ours did.

Let me do a quick little rewind…when our entrees first came and we were getting ready to start eating, I see Michele with a fork full of food up in the air, just staring at it. I was giving her a “what are you doing?” look, when she said to me, “Is that a fly?” :scared: Sure enough, it was a fly . Lying flat on its back, legs up in the air, dead in her risotto. Now, remember in the beginning I was telling you about how they had an open kitchen right near the front door of the restaurant and also another door across from the kitchen leading to the balcony? Well I had noticed when we first came into Narcoosees, there were a lot of flies by the doors because of the lights. Well, probably at some point while Michele’s food was sitting on the counter, waiting to be picked up from our server, the fly flew into it. Our server was no where to be found, so we told another server who was walking by what happened. He quickly took the plate away, apologized, and said that they would make a brand new one for her.

Well, great but poor Michele was hungry :sad1:. Michele just ended up sharing our food with us because she was the only one who didn’t have anything to eat. It was when everyone was almost finished that her dinner came back. I believe it was manager that came back with it and apologized for what had happened. Michele still ate some of her food because she still wanted to try it. She said it was very good, light, and everything tasted very fresh. I tried some of it too, and it was good.

Now, it was time for dessert! Again, we each ordered something different so we could try everything. We ordered: the Almond-crusted Cheesecake with Lambert Cherry Sauce, Warm Chocolate Almond Gateau, Key Lime Creme Brulee, and the Coconut-Mango Panna Cotta.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03005.jpg
Here we are, about to dive into those desserts!

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03007.jpg
Key Lime Creme Brulee

These desserts were fabulous. My favorite was the almond-crusted cheesecake. It was so rich, creamy an had an awesome almond flavor. This was Phil’s favorite also. My next favorite was the panna cotta. It was light and just melted in you mouth. It was really good with the kiwi sorbet. Next would be the crème brulee. It was creamy and a little bit tart, but still good. My least favorite is the chocolate almond gateau. I expected it to be a lot more chocolatey. It didn’t really have a lot of flavor, it was kind of bland. Luckily, there were 3 other really good desserts to keep me occupied.

Overall, the five of us really enjoyed this meal. The food was really amazing and we would all go back in a heartbeat. Even though we had a little situation, it was our favorite meal of the trip. It was totally worth 2 table credits and I would definitely recommend Narcoosees to everyone. :thumbsup2

YUM!!!

We're booked at Narcoossee's the night before hubby's birthday and I can not wait. Everything looks amazing. Being from New England, I love seafood and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the lobster and the mussels, even though those are things I can get here. But they always look so good in these reports.

We're also going to be dining at Boma for the first time during that trip. That should be an interesting one since it's like nothing we've ever had before.

Great report!

Question, and you may not be able to answer - it's just hubby and I on this trip with the dining plan. Do you think we could realistically share 1CS for breakfast and 1CS for lunch? Seeing some of what you guys used your CS credits for, it almost looks like enough food for us to share comfortably and then be able to almost double our CS credits.

With the peppercorn relish I just wasn't sure, cause I love me some calamari! Thanks so much for the great reviews!

There really is a lot of food so I'm sure you and your husband will be able to share 1 cs credit. Keep in mind for a cs credit, you get get an entree, drink and dessert. If lets say, it isn't enough, you guys can use a snack credit for an additional item and I'm sure that would make the meal plentiful. Hope that helps!

I'm so glad to hear you will be going to Narcoosees. You will love it there. The calamari was not spicy at all. It was very crispy and light. Pizzafari – 11:31am

Cost: $28.72

Jesse and I went to Animal Kingdom today while Phil and Elaine went to return the car. Phil and Elaine had breakfast at Mcdonalds and went back to Port Orleans to hang out at the pool. We were all going to meet up at Ohana for dinner later and then go to Magic Kingdom.

Jesse and I were getting hungry around 11:30 so we decided to go to Pizzafari. This was our first time eating here as we always tend to go to Flame Tree BBQ. When we went in, it was really quiet and only a few tables had been occupied. We walked right up and ordered our food. Jesse got the chicken parmesan sandwich that came with a choice of chips or grapes. He chose the grapes, a bottle of water and chocolate cake. I got a pepperoni pizza, bottle of water, and a frozen strawberry lemonade for dessert (a nice change from the usual chocolate cake). We also got an order of breadsticks because Jesse wanted to try them. The breadsticks counted as 1 snack credit.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03036.jpg

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03037.jpg

The pizza was pretty good. I was hot, cheesy, and very filling. I was getting pretty full about half way through. Jesse finished his chicken sandwich, so I’m pretty sure he liked it. He also ate some of my pizza. The breadsticks were not that great. Just tasted like bread. I think I ate half one of stick and never touched it again. We threw most of it away. I was more excited to have my frozen strawberry lemonade. I love those, they are so delicious. We also opened the chocolate cake to take a few bites. It was good. After awhile all those little chocolate cakes you get at the counter services meals seem to taste the same.
Overall, I liked Pizzafari. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant was very clean. I’m glad it wasn’t very busy when we went because it can probably get really noisy in there. I wouldn’t mind going there again.

Ohana - 4:10pm

Cost: $134.41

Michele really wanted to come with us to Ohana as this was our last table meal, so I called Disney dining again to see if we could add one more person to our reservation. The CM on the phone told me that we were booked for a table that could only fit 4 people and they were fully booked for the rest of the night, so they would not be able to accommodate her. I was a little disappointed, but I understood, I mean it was during free dining after all. Our ADR was for 4:10pm. We arrived and checked in at 4:00. I was given a pager and was told that it would go off when our table was ready. It went off 5 minutes later and we were being lead to our table. As we were walking through the restaurant, I noticed that the place was so empty! There was practically no one there. Then she shows us our table…a table with 6 chairs. I’m thinking WTH:confused:? If Michele had come, she could’ve totally sat with us. I was kind of annoyed with this, but there was nothing I could do at this point:mad:.

This will be my 4th time eating at Ohana, Jesse’s 3rd, Elaine’s 2nd, and Phil’s 1st. Although the service here is not that great, we always come back because we like the food. Out of the 4 times I’ve eaten here, only once have I had good service. Unfortunately, it was not this time. The server we had this time was the same server I had the first time I ate here. She was just as bad this time (if not worse) as she was the last time :sad2:. Normally you have a main server and an assistant server. The assistant server usually gets your drink orders and starts bringing you your appetizers.

Things started out fine, our main server brought us our drinks and the assistant brought out the starters/appetizers.

From the top, going clockwise, Mixed greens a honey-lime dressing, honey-coriander chicken wings, spicy-sweet and sour shrimp, and fried wontons with peanut sauce, chimichurri sauce & harissa

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03048.jpg
stir-fried vegetables and Maui scalloped potatoes

I really like the salad that they have here. It comes with a honey-lime dressing thats a little bit citrusy and very light. My 2 favorites here are the wonton chips & dips and the Maui potatoes. The chips are really crispy and go really well with the dips. My favorite is the peanut dip. The Maui potatoes are really cheesy and yummy! We always end up getting at least 2 plates of the potatoes.

The chicken wings are good also, very saucy. I don’t really eat too many of the shrimp because I’m too lazy to peel them, but if you don’t mind the work, they’re also tasty. I usually don’t bother with the vegetables as I’m too busy eating the potatoes.

The meats were starting to come around (brought out by another server), first they had skewers of steak and pork. Then followed by skewers of turkey and sausage. I got a piece of everything but the turkey.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03049.jpg
left to right: pork, steak, and sausage

All the meats were really good, everything had a bit of a smoky flavor. My favorite is the sausage. It had been about 15 minutes since we got our first round of meats and Elaine wanted more turkey. We waited…waited some more, our main server happened to be walking by and we stopped her to refill our drinks and to tell her we wanted more turkey. The assistant server came out and started clearing our appetizer plates. 15 minutes later, the turkey came. At this point Elaine didn’t even really want it anymore since it had be 30 minutes since the first round of meats came, but she ate it anyway because she had waited so long for it. The assistant server came back to clear the rest of the plates. Then we just sat there again…for another 15-20 minutes before our main server brought our dessert.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03050.jpg
Bread pudding a la mode with Bananas Foster Sauce

I love this dessert, it is so good! I love eating the warm bread pudding with the cold vanilla ice cream. The sauce makes it extra rich and extra sweet.

Once we were done with dessert, the main server came back and asked for our card (this she came back for in a timely manner). We quickly signed away our last 4 table service credits and got out of there.

I definitely don’t think that she gave us bad service because her tip was guaranteed as we were on the dining plan. I think she gave us bad service because she is a bad server. The first time I ate here, we were paying OOP and she was still horrible. I think Elaine would be fine with not eating here again. Phil was totally turned off from this place. He thought the food was good, but the service kind of ruined it for him. He is usually a very patient person and will sometimes still give someone a generous tip for below average service (which we yell at him about). He was extremely disappointed here and for Phil to say that, it must’ve been pretty bad. Jesse and I still really like Ohana and would probably go back again. Although I think we might take a little break from it for awhile.

I'm enjoying your reviews, I'm sorry you're coming to the end. I've read about the rice krispy treats at Goofy's but this is the first time I've seen photos of them. I was thinking no big deal before, but now that I've seen them I must make a trip there to get some, LOL. :goodvibes

I am getting close to the end aren't I? :sad1: Writing this report was a lot of fun though. You should definitely go to Goofy's Candy Co. and get a rice krispy treat! They are really good and its fun to watch them make it. Its great for kids too. I think you'll really like it.

Narcoosees definitely got a :thumbsup2 in my book. If you do decide to go there, try to schedule it so that you can watch Wishes. Its a gorgeous view.

After Ohana, we hopped on the monorail and headed to our last park of the trip, Magic Kingdom :sad1:. We walk through some shops and went on a few rides. We were walking through Tomorrowland when Jesse said he wanted a smoothie. I told him we should go to Auntie Gravity’s because they had really good smoothies there. Plus, this was our last day and we still had 13 snack credits left.

Auntie Gravity’s – 7:08pm

Cost: $8.50

We got 2 smoothies to share. These smoothies are so delicious and you can really taste the fruit them. It was still kind of humid out so this was very refreshing.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03052.jpg
Strawberry banana smoothie and Tropical smoothie

We were still really full from Ohana so we knew that we wouldn’t be able to eat another full meal that night. We decided we were going to walk around Magic Kingdom and try a whole bunch of different snacks (and go on rides too of course)! :thumbsup2 Sounded good to me. So off we went with our now 11 snack credits.

As we were walking out of Tomorrowland, finishing our smoothies, Jesse suggested we walk around Toon Town for a little bit. I thought it was a great idea since we haven’t been in Toon Town this trip yet. I wanted to see if there were any rare characters wandering around. Sadly, there weren’t any and as were on our way out of Toon Town, we passed a popcorn cart. That lovely buttery popcorn smell surrounded us and we couldn’t resist it.

Toon Town Popcorn – 7:28pm

Cost: $2.75

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03053.jpg

This is definitely my favorite Disney World snack. I don’t know what they do to it, but freshly popped Disney popcorn is the best! Its buttery and salty, I could eat that stuff all day. I also love how all their packaging now has the Year of a Millions Dreams theme on it. We sat down on a bench near where they do the face paintings and enjoyed our popcorn.

It was time for a ride! Phil really like Philharmagic and wanted to see it again so we headed towards Fantasyland. And whatta-ya-know, Jesse passes a cart full of churros and he decided he wanted one of those. So of course we stopped so he could get one.

Pretzel Wagon – 7:44pm

Cost: $3.00

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03054.jpg
Churro with chocolate dipping sauce

Mmmm, churros. Another one of my favorite snacks. I didn’t really like how it tasted dipped in chocolate, but Jesse did. I just took a few bites of it plain. Crunchy and sweet on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside…MmmMmm.

I had read on the Disboards that the sweet cream cheese pretzels here were really good and that was on my “snacks to try” list. They had them at Scuttle’s Landing and I was about to get one, but then I said we should see Philharmagic first and I’ll get it on the way out. Well, when we came out of Philharmagic, Scuttle’s Landing closed :headache:. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait and try it next time.

The park was pretty crowded that day and it was past 8:00 at that point, so we decided to go and find a spot for Wishes. We continued through Fantasyland and walked through Liberty Square when I remembered that Phil had mentioned he wanted to try the funnel cake here. We were passing Sleepy Hollow and I told Phil that if he wanted funnel cake, he would have to get it here. He said he was really full from all the snacks and didn’t think he could eat anything else. I said, “Ok, but this our last day and its your only chance to try Disney funnel cake.” (until the next time he comes back that is…) He caved and decided to get it since we all said we would have some too.

Sleepy Hollow – 8:25pm

Cost: $7.01

Phil got the funnel cake and Elaine ordered a frozen twist. The frozen twist was basically a slushy with 2 different favors. I believe it was watermelon and sour apple. They tasted just like Jolly Ranchers. I wasn’t a big fan of this because it was a little too sour for me. Jesse and Phil really liked it though.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03056.jpg
Frozen twist and funnel cake

The funnel cake was really good. It was hot and sweet from all the powdered sugar. I was only able to eat a little bit of it because I literally about explode from all the food. Everyone was so full and there was still about half of it left so I was about to throw it away. Phil refused to let me throw it away and said he would finish it. He took a deep breath and took a big bite, started chewing, and swallowed. Right after he swallowed, he didn’t look so good. It looked like he was going to throw up . So I took the funnel cake away from him and threw it away. Phil doesn’t like to waste food, especially good food, but there was no way he was going to be able to finish it without making himself really sick. Plus, it was extra magic hours and our last night, so no one was going back to the room early :snooty:!

Auntie Gravity’s – 11:01pm

Cost: $8.29

After Wishes it was time to go on more rides! As we got off Space Mountain and most of the snack food had time to settle, Phil was in the mood for a sundae. We went back to Auntie Gravity’s and Phil ordered a chocolate sundae with hot fudge and Elaine got another tropical smoothie.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03057.jpg
Phil’s chocolate sundae

We left Magic Kingdom around midnight. I was feeling sad because our trip had ended . This just means when I get home, I’ll have to start planning my next trip :woohoo:!

Up next: Our last meal in Disney before heading home…

Elaine had a 7:00am flight back home today so by the time the rest of us woke up, she was already gone. Our flight back home wasn’t until 5:30pm, which meant the Magical Express would be picking us up at 2:30. We checked out at 11:00, left out luggage with bell services and took the boat to Downtown Disney. We still had a few counter service credits left so we went to get some lunch. Jesse and I decided to go to Earl of Sandwich again and Phil wanted another pizza from Wolfgang Puck’s.

Earl of Sandwich – 12:04pm

Cost: $20.61

This time I got the Caesar salad, bottle of water, and cupcake. Jesse got the BBQ Beef sandwich, a soda, and a muffin crown.

My Caesar salad, water, and cup cake

Jesse's BBQ Beef sandwich

This was the first time I’ve had the Caesar salad here. It was really fresh and delicious. It’s was a huge salad so sadly, I was really full half way through it. I would definitely order this again. We brought the cup cake home for Elaine because she really liked them. Jesse loved his sandwich too. He said he liked it even more than the other sandwich he normally gets. I don’t think Jesse ever ate his crown muffin. I’m not really sure what happened to it… :confused3

Wolfgang Puck Express

Cost: $15.95

Phil got the spinach and mushroom pizza and said it was really good. I don’t have a picture of this because Phil ate his meal there while Jesse and I ate our meal at Earl of Sandwich.

Goofy’s Candy Co. – 1:35pm

Cost: $18.73

We still had 6 more snack credits left so we decided to go back to Goofy’s Candy Co. to pick up some snacks to take home. As soon as we walked in Jesse and Phil said they each wanted a slushy.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03064.jpg

I wasn’t crazy about the flavors so I didn’t have any, but Jesse and Phil thought they were very good. Elaine asked me to pick up another rice krispy treat for her so I went over to the counter to fill out a form. One Mickey rice krispy treat, dipped in milk chocolate, and covered in Oreo cookie crumbs. I also picked up 2 boxes of cookies to take home with me.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03065.jpg
My 2 boxes of cookies and Elaine's rice krispy treat (to the left of it is the form that you fill out)

Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory – 2:35pm

Cost: $13.01

By the time we were done here it was 2:00 and we needed to head back to the resort. Michele called and said she was going to meet us at Port Orleans to say goodbye. When we got back Michele went to the food court to get some lunch. She ordered spaghetti with meatballs and Doritos.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa86/kitcat1214/DSC03066.jpg

She ate as we walked over to get out luggage from bell services. Once we got our bags, we said our goodbyes to Michele and we were on our way home :sad1:.

I had a really great time on this trip. I was really excited about trying all the food I probably wouldn’t normally get (thanks to free dining ;)). I kept all of our receipts and added up how much everything would’ve cost if we had paid OOP. We ate $1,153.91 worth of food (maybe a little bit less because that's including the tips as well)! I would love to be on the Disney dining plan again in the future, even if it wasn’t free. Phil was already asking me when we were going back to Disney again. Looks like I converted another one :wizard:!

So, how did I eat all that food and still lose a pound you ask? From all that walking of course! I am an all day park girl, I'm there from am emh to pm emh. I figured I would eat whatever I wanted because I was going to be able to walk it all off anyway and it worked :woohoo:!

I want to thank everyone for reading my first dining report. I hope you have enjoyed it and that it has helped you in deciding where to eat for your next trip.

Have a Magical Day! :earsboy:

[B]Now, it was time for dessert!

:thumbsup2

I know I'm way behind here, but these were just too beautiful to not comment on! Wow! While all of the food at Narcoosee's looked wonderful, but I could head there just for the desserts! There wasn't really much of a chocolate taste. The other desserts are :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2. I really do love Ohana.
