I enjoyed reading this. We are going in a week to Disney, and still thinking of food for our daughter who is gluten free, her GI specialist thinks she might have celiac but there is no way to tell since I had already taken her off gluten. I did a short retrial for one dose of wheat and we stopped right away because of horrible stomach pain which could be related if it's celiac.

We are packing in most food except for her except milk and hamburgers...my daughter has corn, and egg allergies and so far only about fifteen foods have passed our allergy food trials so her diet is way more restricted. If her gastritis gets better they said she could become less food sensitive, but they still don't want her to have gluten. These pictures of what you can eat gluten free are awesome.

Right now my daughters only flours are tapioca and quinoa, but I wonder if we did a rice trial if she would be able to have any of those gluten free bread items. We know she is allergic to sorghum. The picture of your daughter eating that big old hamburger was priceless.

How wonderful that Disney chef's are knowledgeable and accommodating(minus the coral reef guy). It looks like you had great food that fit in with your special needs. I am so glad that you and your daughter got to eat so well.

Im so sorry for whats happening with your daughter,I know how hard it is.At least doctors are aware of celiac now.My mom remembers taking me to the doctor when I was a kid for stomach pains,he said I was probably just trying to get out of eatting.I only found out that I had celiac about 3 years ago and I have had problems caused by celiac because of that.

rice would be a good one to test on your daughter next.If she can eat rice there will be so many options for food for her.Even now, there are so many more food choices then there was when we first found out that we have celiac. If your daughter cant have rice they also make potatoe pasta. Its harder to find,I usually have to order it.Theres also a place in Quebec that grows oats and they guarentee that it not contaminated with gluten.

The warm buns thay gave us at WDW were the ener g brand.I have ener g bread in my freezer.I checked the ingrediants,it doesnt have eggs.So as long as they use the same ingrediants with the buns,if yout DD ends up being fine with rice she may be able to have those.I dont know what brand the hamburger bun was

I love your pictures! I'm celiac and my two year old daughter is gluten and dairy free. I have always had great meals at WDW. I especially loved the picture of 50's Prime Tiem Cafe and Sci Fi. That burger looked amazing!!! I can't wait until we go in November!

Great review! I got diagnosed with CD back in January, and we returned from WDW 2 weeks ago. They were AWESOME and accomodated us in every way. From breakfast at the resort with special mickey waffles, to chocolate cake, hamburger buns, and much more, it was a great experience and I was bummed when I had to go back to the "real world" and eat only what I know is safe.

BUT what is funny was that at the terminal at Orlando Airport there was a full service Outback, complete with a GF Menu!

Again, great review.

GREAT REVIEW!!!
First, your dd is beautiful! Stunning, really!
Of course, you already know that!

Second, thank you for posting the food pictures! We are going back in November and we eat gluten free and dairy free. I posted pictures of our GF foods in my link if you want to see how that went.

My questions:
1) would you recommend whispering canyon for the GF food, or would you recommend we avoid it? We do have an ADR there, but now I'm scared!
2) Was that a gluten free pot pie!? How did they do that at a restaurant!? I am baffled! Maybe I should make some dining changes...

Thanks again!

1) whispering canyon was ok for gluten free food, the chef was great,we just didnt like the food.most of us had the prime rib,it tasted like they smoked it.I dont like smoked food.I felt ill after eatting here but it wasnt gluten ill. They had also sat us in a corner behind this wall so we missed out on all the fun.

2) that was gluten free chicken pot pie.It was so good.It was one of our favorite meals.

Im going to look at your pictures now.

Where did you order the gluten free chicken pot pie? Did you ask for the recipe? I know in the past that I have asked for recipes at disney and they usually have them printed ready to give out. Of course the recipes I have are before GF diet.

jrsmom, I have a recipe for a gf chicken pot pie on this site
www.glutenanddairyfree.com
under the "menu" link. It isn't the same recipe, though. (it's on the bottom of that page).

The place to order that is the 50s diner at MGM.

That is good to know about recipes! There were two salads at the Biergarten that I just LOVED and I searched high and low for recipes after I got home. None came close to as good!
