We are going there for my birthday...and I have never tried a fried oreo...are they on the menu or do you have to call ahead an place a special order?

Fried Food = yum

Oreos = double yum

Can you imagine them fried??? :banana:

Call and ask if chef TJ is working. Go at a time when the chef is not exceptionally busy if possible. When you arrive, tell the server it is your birthday and say you've heard of the chef making some unique dishes (like the fried oreos you have always wanted to try). If TJ is not too busy, he may come out and say hello. If he says don't eat much until he returns, believe him. The dish of shrimp and slaw he brought out for us was outstanding. Latter, he brought us some fried oreos.

Call ahead or tell them at the podium that is it your birthday so they can plan a special dessert for you if the kitchen staff has time.

Omg. We were just there Wednesday night. We had stuffed ourselves silly and were finishing off embarassing amounts of dessert when Chef TJ came by our table. We had met him a couple of years ago and were reminiscing when he said "Hold on. I'll be right back." In literally THREE - FOUR minutes he was back with a TOWER of fried oreos anchored to a pineapple base, the whole thing drizzled with hot fudge. Wow. We all had a few bites. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we weren't already so stuffed, but it was very special of him to make it for us.

I don't really think it's something you can request, though. It's kind of a thing he does spontaneously. Enjoy Boma, it's one of our favorites!
