I'm hoping someone knows directions/distance to the closest decent grocery store from AKV. We are having lunch at Jiko's on a Sunday and then want to do a quick grocery shop before heading back to BWV and waiting for the rest of the gang to fly in. Any suggestions?

if you head out to DTD and go out hotel plaza BLVD to cross roads, take a left at the traffic light and on that main road about 1 - 2 miles is a winn-dixie on the right, small grocery store easy to get to, easy to get in and out of and prices are reasonable.

If you're looking for a grocery nearest AKL it would probably be the Publix on Rt 192......from AKL follow Osceola Parkway to the second intersection......not far from AKL at all....which is Sherbeth Road.....make a right on Sherbeth...the road curves to the left and just follow to the intersection of 192......I believe there is also a shortcut to the right shortly before the 192 intersection which will bring you out on 192 a bit further down and avoid several longer traffic lights ......but I don't remember the name of the road....make a right turn onto 192 and just follow for maybe two miles.....Publix will be on the right......we also shop at the Winn Dixie the above poster gave directions to........either store would be OK for you since you have to head over toward Downtown Disney way anyway if you're staying at BWV........I find Publix is a bigger store and may have more brands of items, but, it depends what you're shopping for......both have the basics.

There's also another Publix down Osceola Parkway in the other direction. Head out of AKL back toward the parks. Eventually you'll pass Wide World of Sports, keep going out of WDW and you will come to a light with Gaylord Palms on your right. Take a right turn there, and Publix will be on your left, just after you go under the overpass.
I shop at both Winn-Dixie and Publix. You need a card to get the specials at W-D (takes little time to fill out) but don't need anything special at Publix.

I forgot about the Publix near the Gaylord since our last few trips we've stayed at VWL or SSR and used Winn-Dixie except for a quick trip to the Publix out near AKL after spending the evening at AKL......Publix near Gaylord may be better for them since it's probably closer to BWV.

Nice map, vonpluto. That's two more Publix. I had no idea there were so many in the area.
bjakmom, I'm curious about your lunch at Jiko. It is normally open only for dinner. Is this a special event?

There's also a Super Target in the same area as the Sam's Club on vonpluto's map.

Thanks VonPluto, there's nothing like a map to put things in perspective. We've been going to the Publix by the Premium outlets for years, but we may change that to the Publix by the LBV Outlets as it looks a little closer.

Yes, our lunch at Jiko is a special F&W event on 9/30 - I finally found something at WDW that DH is excited about;) :thumbsup2 !
