Changed our minds. So who else is going in Dec!?

When I first joined this forum back in July, one of my first threads was asking the community on this forum what they thought about WDW in Dec. The responses were numerous and were very positive. :goodvibes

My DW and I then decided that we would forgo Dec and plan our next trip for May 2008 as we like that time of year.

Well, guess what. We got to talking about it today and we changed our minds. We are now heading to WDW in Dec from 12/08-12/15 and staying at Pop. We booked our WDW reservation, tickets, and airfare a couple of hours ago and we are now getting ready for our 1st WDW Dec Vacation. Talk about excited. :cheer2: :banana: :banana: :banana: :cheer2:

So, for the Dis community, who can I expect to see at WDW in Dec? :thumbsup2

How great!! Christmas season at Disney is my favorite time of the year! :goodvibes We're going again this year & you would think it was my first time! There are so many things to experience that you cannot do in any other season! From going to the resorts to be amazed by the decorations, to the parks with their decorations & special "shows" -- Epcot, country storytellers, Candlelight Processional (I always cry) -- MK, MVMCP -- MGM, Osborne Lights. Can you tell I get a little excited about it?? :rotfl: Keep us updated on your schedule!

There were no specials available at POP but we could upgrade the entire stay to Caribbean for just $46! Not per day but the entire stay! Sooooooo, we are going to experience another new resort (for us). We LOVE love love POP, though. This will be our second December visit and I CANNOT wait! It is the MERRIEST time we have ever had. We are going to the MVMCP on the 11th. We believe the money is WELL spent. You will not wait in a single line for any of the rides, the play was beautiful, the parades, the music, the "snow" on main street, the hot cocoa and cookies... mmmmmmmmmmmm... You are in for a truly delightful time! I am so excited to be able to say that we will be joining you! :santa: Merry (early) Christmas!

We come in on the 6th of December, go on the Disney Magic for a week starting the 8th and when we get back on the 15th we stay until the 23rd. :woohoo:

My reward for retirement is spending Dec in Orlando with friends. They say this month is wonderful. There's a display called ICE (I thiink) at one of the hotels there that has huge carved ice sculptures. There's also a neat gingerbread house display. Cannot wait for MVMCP. I was told not to look at the pictures I was telling them that I saw posted here because it would not be a surprise but I cannot help it. Look at those and you are soooo waiting for Dec! :santa:

Yes, this will be our 4th stay at Pop. We always book a standard room and they have all been great. We were also upgraded twice to preferred rooms for free. Pop has always been a great experience for us. For our upcoming Dec trip I requested the 50's building with a lake view. :thumbsup2

Mr and Mrs Conan the Librarian will be in Ft. Wilderness from the 9th to the 15th. We are going to stay a night in St. Augustine and then be in WDW about 10 am so we can hit the ground running.

We were going to have to leave on the 14th, but, my boss decided to swich dates with me for Christmas, so, I get an extra day off. We aren't leaving town for Christmas, so, it works out great! I get an extra day in the Magic Kingdom!

We are very hot natured people and I usually wera flip flops even in the winter, but for me it was even too cold to do that at WDW. Even though we were dressed warmly, we still had to buy some blankets in EPCOT to keep warm. We left warmer weather at home in East Central Alabama. The highs might have reached 40 and the lows were close to 20, but then I saw pictured of people later in the month and they were wearing tanks tops and shorts.

We booked through US Airways leaving from Portland, Me. We paid a few dollars more than we usually do, but with the cheaper resort rooms for that time, it all balanced out. :cool1:

DH & I went last Dec 10-16 on same discount staying @ Pop and had a blast. The longest line we waiting in was 30 minutes for TT @ Epcot.

What's great is that since we have already gone in May this year, we will be able to focus more on the X-mas decorations, shows, and characters than going on rides. We were able to ride everything 4+ times each back in May. :cool1: I am looking forward to riding the updated HM though. :thumbsup2

We'll be there Nov 29th - Dec 8th. Sooo excited...it's getting close. The last time we went we went the last 2 weeks in August....talk about HOT!:eek: Looking forward to cooler weather. Just wondering how everyone is packing...we are there for 10 days so I figured on packing 5 warmer outfits (jeans, sweats, etc.) and 5 cooler outfits (shorts, capris). And if needed mid way I can do laundry. Does that makes sense to do? How's everyone else packing clothes for this time of the year? Had my mom buy a pair of gloves and hat...lol she said wait for we are going to be in florida...its' going to be cold? lol:rotfl:

We will be at the Contemporary...6 of us ...me, DH, DS 13, DD 10, DS 2, and mom....think we'll be squished? I might resort to sleeping on the bacony lol:rotfl2:

I am taking my son for his 7th b-day this year. We will be arriving on the 14th of Dec. and leaving on the 22nd. We will be staying at the Grand, that is were he wanted to stay, mainly because he saw a waterfall in the pool from the monorail...lol..I am sure it will be to cold to swim by then. I'm not sure what to do since this will be my first Dec trip. So I'll check the forecast the week before and pack TONS of clothes, so I'll be ready for anything. But hopefully the forecast will really help me decide what to pack!

We are leaving on December 14 right after hubby walks off the stage with his Master's degree. We check into POR for a couple of days for quiet family time. On Monday we move in to an off property (oh the horror) timeshare with hubby's sister and family. We were just there in April and the Movies was so horrible we will never do another value resort. This is the first trip we have told the kids about before we arrive. We usually just get in the car and drive and let them figure it out when we reach the gates. Now I have until December to hear: When do we leave for Disney mommy? 5000 X's. We head home December 23. :sad1:

So far, I do have some other DISers I'm hanging out with except Fri. Dec. 14th in the morning. I'm going to AK and would love to have someone to ride Expedition Everest and Dinosaur with. So let me know if you'll be there that morning!

As far as packing - I'm going to wear my heaviest coat, and shoes there and back home. But I'm going to pack a lighter weight coat. I'll wait until the week before to see if I should pack sweaters or long-sleeved shirts. I'm going to go by whatever the weather websites says the temps will be. And hopefully, there'll be some live trip reports the week before I leave.

I had us booked at AKL, but we switched to POR because my DH reminded me that we are hardly ever at our resort!!! That Friday is kind of "free" bounce around day. It's my DD's 2nd bday so our only definite plans are Chef Mickey's at 5:00. It is a very good possibility that we'll be at AK in the am probably to ride EE for 1 last time! This is my DS's #1 to do at Disney! Keep us in mind, we'd love to ride with you!

Well, You sure won't be alone. I just booked our first trip to the world in 17 years and was told that the only place which had my DW's required kithenette and handicapped access is Old Key West. Got a 2 bedroom for DW and myself, and DS 21 and DD 6. It is her birthday present. The DDs. It is supposed to be very nice. I can't wait to get the It's a small world after all....... stuck in my head again. :).

I've been to WDW about 20 times in my life. We normally go around December 12th, since its our anniversary.

I have relatives that live in Jacksonville so this year we decided to go down Christmas week. All the talk of crowds is beginning to frighten me! :guilty:

Between us we have 2 husbands and 5 teenagers so we thought we deserved to treat ourselves. Our families are very supportive but we think they have something planned for themselves here while we are gone. Oh well what we don't know won't hurt us right? We can't wait!

i am going on the 2nd to the 7th, 6 days in the parks, 5 nights at the GF. I love this time of year, I have been several times duruing this time, it is soooo ... beautiful! Have a great time. Go to the Candlelight Processional if possible and the Osborne lights!! I have never stayed at the GF before, i am soooo... excited.

I stayed at the GF back in 2004. It's a nice resort. We will be staying at Pop next trip, but will be making a stop at the GF to see their famous Ginderbread House.

I know what you mean. We booked this trip in Sept and we are now down to 7 days. We are so excited for our 1st Dec trip. We have heard nothing but good things about WDW during this time in regards to crowds, decorations etc this should be an amazing experience.

We leave next Friday for OKW. My DD has never been to that resort and my
DH and I can't wait to spend time with her. She turns 26 on the 15th and I
can't believe we get her all to ourselves for a week. The two other kids(22
and 24) couldn't make it this year which is sad but now we can make it a very

Hopefully (fingers crossed) we will be going to disney in Dec. of 09. DF and I are getting married in june so won't have the money dec 08, but we should in 09 and then family can go to and have a grand gathering. If anyone has any info on the grand gatherings it is well appreciated. I have never been any time but july, and this year for the first time in March. I always wanted to go just to see the decorations.
