I want to start out by saying that this is my first attempt at posting any kind of report, so I hope it doesn’t disappoint. I found the dining reports so helpful when planning our vacation; I thought I’d like to “pay it forward” in the hope that it will benefit someone else. I took lots of pictures, but occasionally forgot to photograph the appetizer or dessert course before it was devoured … so I apologize in advance for some of the slip-ups. I’d never photographed our food before, but once I got into the habit of it, it was easier to remember. ;)

Now on to the details …

Our cast consists of DH Frank, 52; a great guy and good sport with my obsessive planning. He enjoys Disney but not to the same degree as I do. He’s not a big fan of the rides; Big Thunder is about the wildest one he’ll attempt. He patiently indulges us by going through endless gift shops while DD and I look for the perfect souvenirs. His favourite Disney movie is Aladdin. When it comes to food, he’s a “meat and potatoes” kind of guy and is most definitely not an adventurous eater at all.

DD Cheryl, whose 19th birthday we were celebrating on this trip. She’s a Disney fanatic like her Mom, she loves to ride all the roller-coasters and can’t decide if her favourite ride is Rock n’ Roller Coaster or Test Track. Her favourite Disney movie is Lady and the Tramp and she has a soft spot for many of the Disney villains (especially Scar and Hades.) As far as food goes, she loves to try new things and was looking forward to visiting restaurants we’d never been to before.

DS Neil, 15; he’s a wonderful kid who is very much like his Dad (although not quite as patient in the stores :sad2: ) He also likes to try new foods and particularly enjoys anything spicy. He enjoys Disney very much, and happily rides all the coasters with his sister. His favourite ride is the Rock n’ Roller Coaster, favourite movie is Aladdin, and favourite character is the Genie.

Finally, there’s me, Carol, 48; Disney fanatic and chief planner for all our holidays, Disney or not. I love the rides as well, and I enjoy trying new restaurants and different foods. My favourite ride is Pirates of the Caribbean; it was the first ride I ever went on at Disney so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I love Eeyore and Goofy and my favourite movie is Beauty and the Beast.

Now that you know a little bit about us, I’ll get to the part I know you’re really interested in … the places we ate! :woohoo:

Our trip was for 10 days, August 26th to September 5th, and we were on the DDP (free food!!) My reviews will cover the following CS locations:

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory (POFQ food court)
Sunshine Seasons
Wolfgang Puck Express
Earl of Sandwich
Pecos Bills
Columbia Harbor House

And the following TS locations:

Liberty Tree Tavern
Nine Dragons
Sci-Fi Dine-In
Raglan Road
Rose & Crown
Kona Café
Tony’s Town Square
Spoodles
Le Cellier
Boma

I’m going to include everyone’s impressions of their meal, and I’ll be rating each location in the following manner: Food quality, atmosphere, and general enjoyment will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the absolute best of the best. Service at the TS locations will be rated separately, and will be assigned an A, B, C, D or E rating. A is the best and E the worst.

Hi Teresa! We're from the Newmarket area, so not too far away from you at all! Wow, 20 days, you must be a busy lady right now! We had a terrific time, it was sunny and very hot while we were there. This northern girl isn't used to 98 degree heat coupled with a humidity level that makes the air feel like you're walking underwater. LOL! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!!

To everyone else, welcome and thanks for joining me!

LIBERTY TREE TAVERN

This is our traditional first-night dinner. We love this place and always have a wonderful time here. The character interaction is terrific and the food is delicious. While it’s true that I could make a better Thanksgiving dinner at home, there’s something so special about enjoying it with Goofy, Minnie, Pluto, and Chip & Dale! Plus, I’m not stuck in the kitchen all day! ;)

I want to apologize for the lack of pictures for this meal. The battery in my digital camera died just after we got to the restaurant. I was taking some pictures of the family while we were waiting to be called to our table when it gave up the ghost. It was a bummer because I really wanted to get pics of the characters as well. :guilty:

For those who’ve never eaten here, dinner is a fixed menu that includes the following (description taken from AllEars):

DECLARATION SALAD - Tossed Mixed Greens, served with our special Tavern Strawberry Vinaigrette Dressing

PATRIOT'S PLATTER - A generous serving of roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and smoked pork loin, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing, and Stouffer's Macaroni and Cheese.

Dessert was warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream. You also get a beverage, which includes sodas, iced tea, milk, chocolate milk, tea, coffee or lemonade.

We all enjoyed the salad, the dressing is delicious and just the right amount. So many places either skimp on the dressing or drown your salad with it, but LTT uses just the right amount. We devoured this very quickly.

We were disappointed with the rolls this year. They tasted like the standard crusty-type rolls you can purchase in any supermarket and weren’t as fresh as they could be. Last year they were warm, fresh, and tasted like homemade. We each tried a bite and left the rest.

DD: enjoyed the turkey, pork loin, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and the mac & cheese. She didn’t try the beef because she rarely eats red meat. Rating: 8/10

DS: enjoyed the turkey and pork loin but wasn’t thrilled with the beef. He had seconds of the mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans and mac & cheese. Rating: 8/10

DH: really enjoyed everything (except for the rolls) and had seconds of all the meats, the mashed potatoes and gravy, and the green beans. Rating: 9/10

Me: I loved the turkey and the pork loin, which had a sweet mustard-type glaze that was very tasty. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious and I have to admit I love Stouffer’s macaroni and cheese. <g> I also really enjoy the green beans they serve here, they’re always cooked just the way I like them … tender, but not limp. Rating: 8/10

Dessert was delicious and enjoyed by all. As a birthday treat for my daughter, they also brought a chocolate cupcake with a vanilla glaze and red, white and blue Mickey sprinkles. They brought it out while ringing a bell and announcing to the whole restaurant that it was Cheryl’s 19th birthday. Everyone sang Happy Birthday and applauded while she made a wish and blew out the candle. She also received a birthday card signed by all the characters.

Service was solid, we never had to ask for refills and the food was brought out promptly as it was piping hot.

Would we return? Most definitely!!

SUNSHINE SEASONS

We had lunch here after a busy and very fun morning in Epcot. We arrived around 11:30 and found a table easily. It got very busy during the next 30 minutes though! Here’s what we had:

DD: Caesar Salad with Oak-fired Chicken, Key Lime Pie and Diet Coke.
http://s25.postimg.org/jc9jd4ezz/DSC00076.jpg
Cheryl really enjoyed this, she said the chicken was very tasty and the salad greens were crispy and fresh with lots of dressing. She found the cheese a little overpowering though, and pushed most of it to the side.
Rating: 8/10

DS: Roast ½ Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Carrots, Chocolate Mousse Cake and Chocolate Milk.
http://s25.postimg.org/8bee83mr3/DSC00075.jpg
The only part of this entrée Neil enjoyed was the potatoes, which he said were very good. He said the chicken had very little flavor and the carrots had a sickly-sweet glaze that turned his stomach. He said the chocolate cake was delicious and very moist.
Rating: 5/10 (for the potatoes and cake)

DH: Black Forest Ham and Salami Grinder, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Chocolate Milk
http://s25.postimg.org/3yfupoe0f/DSC00077.jpg
Frank really enjoyed this. He said the bread was very fresh and the sandwich very flavorful. He also thoroughly enjoyed the cake.
Rating: 8/10

Me: Turkey and Muenster cheese on Foccicia with Chipotle Mayo, Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Milk.
http://s25.postimg.org/3o8c6bze7/DSC00074.jpg
This was delicious, the bread was very fresh and the chipotle mayo gave it a bit of a kick. The key lime pie was tasty and very light, but a little too sweet for my taste. I like the lime filling a little on the tart side. It was also much too big. I could only eat about a third of it.
Rating: 8/10

Overall Rating: 7 ¼

Just a note: This place can be very busy and rather confusing if you’ve never been here before. It has separate stations for different types of food (sandwiches, salads, Asian, grilled, desserts, etc.) which can pose a problem if you have small children and everyone wants something different. On the other hand, having a wide variety to choose from is terrific as everyone can usually find something they like.

Would we return? Yes, but Neil will avoid the roast chicken next time.

Nine Dragons coming in the next post!

Nine Dragons

I was a little concerned about this meal since this restaurant receives so many bad reviews here, but this turned out to be one of our favourite meals of the trip! The restaurant is beautiful, with lovely examples of Chinese art throughout. The colour scheme is very striking in black and red and the tables and chairs are bold and regal-looking. Like most Disney restaurants, the tables are close together and the room can be noisy, but it didn’t detract from our enjoyment of the meal or intrude on our ability to talk to one another without having to raise our voices. Our server was a very efficient if somewhat impersonal young woman who kept our glasses filled and timed the courses perfectly. I have to apologize again for the small number of photos since I forgot to take pictures of the appetizers. We were very hungry when we arrived and all the delicious smells in this restaurant only served to further whet our appetite. As a result, when the appetizers were served, we pounced on them and they were inhaled before I remembered to take out the camera.

Here’s what we had:

DS: Split the Tri-Star appetizer with me (A delightful combination of three favorite dim sums: pot sticker, shrimp and pork spring roll, and Chicken and Shrimp Shao Mai) There were two servings of each selection, and all were delicious!! Our favourites were the pot stickers and spring roll. Neil’s entrée was the Honey Sesame Chicken, which was served with steamed white rice. He chose Iced Tea for his beverage.
Rating: 9/10
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/1281/ninedragons2oo1.jpg

DD: Cheryl had the Pot Stickers for her appetizer (Traditional wok-sautéed dumpling filled with pork and vegetables) and also chose the Honey Sesame Chicken for her entrée. She absolutely loved the pot stickers and could have made a meal out of them alone. She had Diet Coke to drink.
Rating: 9/10

DH: Frank had the Sweet and Spicy Cucumber Salad for his appetizer (Beijing style pickled cucumber with ginger flavor) along with the Honey Sesame Chicken for his entrée. He really enjoyed the salad, and it truly lived up to its name. It started out sweet but finished with a spicy kick which was surprising but very, very good. Frank chose Coke for his drink.
Rating: 10/10

Me: As mentioned above, I had half of the Tri-Star appetizer and I decided to be different and ordered the Canton Pepper Beef (Beef stir-fried with onions, green and red peppers and served with steamed white rice on the side.) This was absolutely delicious!! The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the sauce complemented it perfectly. I mixed the rice with it and it was soooo good! I had the Jasmine Green Iced Tea for my beverage and I really enjoyed it. It was very refreshing.
Rating: 9/10
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/6521/ninedragons1fw4.jpg

The Honey Sesame Chicken was given an enthusiastic thumbs up by everyone! I tried some of Franks and agree that it was phenomenal. I was quite happy with my selection though, because even though the chicken was delicious, it was also quite rich and very sweet. My beef was very satisfying and didn’t leave me feeling stuffed.

Desserts were this restaurants only negative. The selection is quite limited; we were offered Caramel Ginger Ice Cream, Chocolate Ice Cream or Cherry Cake for dessert. Frank passed on dessert but Cheryl, Neil, and I decided to try the cherry cake.
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/9942/ninedragons3ai6.jpg
This looked and tasted exactly like a jelly-roll you can buy in any supermarket bakery. It was rather bland and tasteless and certainly wasn’t presented with any kind of flair. It looks like they just chopped off a slice, threw it on a plate and then tossed on a few sprinkles as an afterthought. <g> We each took a bite and left the rest, it wasn’t worth the calories.

All in all though, this was a wonderful experience and we’ll definitely return!!

Thanks especially for your review of Nine Dragons. We're trying a few new places this next trip and Nine Dragons is one. I'm glad you (mostly) liked it. I'm a little concerned about the desserts (not that we really will need dessert!) but on the allears site it lists a rasperry chocolate cake as being available at lunch (not dinner). But the lunch menu is a few months out of date so I'm wondering if it's still available . . .

Wow! Thanks for all the kind comments everyone! It's nice to know that people are reading and finding it helpful. I know I live on these boards before our trips and it was mainly due to the dining reports that I chose some of the restaurants we tried this year. Hopefully this will help someone else the same way.

Thanks for taking the time to post! The next installment will be up shortly.

We had ADR's at Nine Dragons on 8/24 which we missed due to a 2-hour downpour that night! We had a great meal at Spoodles instead, but having never eaten at Nine Dragons we are putting it on our "Must do" list for our next trip.

Day 3 – Sci-Fi Dine-In and Wolfgang Puck Express

This was our MGM morning, so after we had fun riding Rock n’ Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, etc., we were ready for some lunch. We had an ADR at Sci-Fi for 11:40 AM. We checked in at 11:20 and were seated within 15 minutes. We’d never been to Sci-Fi before but were looking forward to trying it. It’s very impressive when you first walk into the actual restaurant area, you’d swear you stepped outside on a lovely clear night. There are stars twinkling overhead and both my kids got a real kick out of the car tables and the big screen showing clips from every old low-budget horror flick you can imagine (and some you can’t! LOL!!) The lighting is very low, to fit in with the general theme of being in a drive-in at night, and I’m sorry to say our pictures didn’t turn out at all. Cheryl used her camera here and the photos are too dark to see anything at all. :sad1:

Our server was great and he took the time to explain how the dining plan worked. We were allowed to choose a milkshake (Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry or Oreo) for our beverage but the Pirate’s Punch (Minute Maid light raspberry lemonade served in a souvenir Pirate Cup with a glowing Tinker Bell or Captain Hook clip-on light) was not included on the DP and would be an extra charge.

DH: Frank chose the Crispy Onion Rings as his appetizer which he said weren’t bad, but he found them extremely greasy. He had the Smoked Baby Back Ribs for his entrée. He said they were cooked well, but weren’t very tender and had quite a bit of fat in them. He had a chocolate shake for his beverage which was pretty good but extremely thick. You definitely needed a spoon for it. Dessert was the Hot Fudge Sundae, which was huge!
Rating: 5/10

DS: Neil had exactly the same thing as his Dad, and his impressions of the meal were also the same. He loves onion rings but found these very greasy and he said they were also cold. Not a good combo. :scared:
Rating: 5/10

DD: Cheryl had the Crispy Onion Rings as her appetizer. Entrée: Angus Chuck Burger with cheddar cheese and bacon, with French fries on the side. She had a Diet Coke for her drink and chose the Fresh Fruit Salad for her dessert. Cheryl didn’t enjoy the onion rings either, and said hers were also cold. She said her burger was ok, but nothing special. She enjoyed the fruit salad (it was a mixture of cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, grapes & strawberries.) They surprised her with a loaded Hot Fudge Sundae for her birthday, but she was too stuffed to eat any of it.
Rating: 5/10

Me: I had the Spinach and Artichoke Dip (A blend of mozzarella, swiss, and asiago with spinach, artichokes, and corn tortilla chips) for my appetizer, the Angus Chuck Burger with cheddar cheese and bacon, with onion rings instead of French fries. My drink was a chocolate shake, and I chose the Warm Apple & Pecan Crisp for dessert. I’m sorry to say the only part of this meal I really enjoyed was the dessert, which was very tasty. The dip was ok, nothing special, it probably would be more enjoyable if it were served with crusty bread rather than tortilla chips. My burger was burnt around the edges and was cold when I got it. I didn’t like the onion rings at all, they were cold and much too greasy. They hit your stomach like a lead weight and laid there for the rest of the day. I was sorry I didn’t choose the French fries as Cheryl said they were quite good.
Rating: 4/10 (mostly for the atmosphere)

My whole family agrees that this was our least favourite and most disappointing meal of the trip. We loved the atmosphere and it was a welcome break from the heat of the day (it was 97 degrees and sunny) but the food was not good at all. Our server was terrific, very friendly and helpful, and our service rating reflects that. The rating would have been higher if our food had arrived hot.

Would we go back? Nope. We’re happy we did it once, but once was enough.

Wolfgang Puck Express

We went back to our resort for an afternoon break and then headed to Downtown Disney around 4:30. We had already decided to try Wolfgang Puck Express and we were so happy we did!

DD: Cheryl had the Knife & Fork Chicken Caesar Salad (Sliced pan-roasted chicken breast, crisp romaine hearts, freshly grated parmesan, served on a toasted garlic and herb flatbread and topped with our signature Caesar dressing) She loved this!! The salad greens were fresh and crispy and the Caesar dressing was out-of-this-world good! The chicken was moist and flavorful but the flatbread was only so-so, Cheryl said it was very bland and there wasn’t much taste to it.
Rating: 8 ½ /10

http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/7849/wpe4tw0.jpg

DS: Neil chose the 4-Cheese Ravioli (Mozzarella, Cheddar, Fontina and Gorgonzola) served with a wedge of garlic bread. He raved about it! He gave me a taste and I had to agree with him … it was awesome!! The garlic bread wasn’t very good however; like Cheryl’s flatbread, it was rather tasteless.
Rating: 9/10

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/383/wpe3jp2.jpg

DH: Frank had the warm BBQ Chicken Sandwich (Sliced chicken breast in our sweet and tangy bbq sauce with melted provolone, tomato, and red onions,) which came with a side of homemade Yukon Gold potato chips. Frank loved every bite of this sandwich. He said the flavors all blended well and complemented each other beautifully. The chips were only so-so, but it didn’t really matter because the sandwich was very large and very satisfying.
Rating: 9/10

http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/9149/wpe2er0.jpg

Me: I had the Rosemary Rotisserie Chicken (Juicy and crispy-skinned half chicken, served with garlic butter and your choice of side.) I had garlic mashed potatoes with it. OMG, this was incredible!! The chicken was juicy and full of flavor and the mashed potatoes were amazing! I ate every bite of this and enjoyed it immensely.

Sorry, we'd already started eating before I remembered to take pics. :rolleyes1

Dessert was a chocolate chip cookie.

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/6814/wpe1qf9.jpg

This was our favourite CS location. The food was consistently good, everything was fresh and prepared when you ordered it instead of being made for the masses and kept under heat lamps. There’s great variety and we all think it’s an amazing value for a CS credit. We ate here three times during our ten day visit. :thumbsup2 The first two times we were here, the only dessert being offered were chocolate chip cookies, but they were delicious so we didn’t mind at all. On our final visit, they gave us the choice of a cookie, a brownie or crème brulee.

One final thought; because everything is prepared fresh, this takes a little longer than the other counter service locations. This isn’t a large place, so indoor seating in the air conditioning is very limited. We believe it’s well worth it for the quality of the food you get, but if it’s busy, it can be a little chaotic. You place your order, and they give you a card with a number on it to display on your table. You grab your dessert and drink before you sit down and they bring your entrée to your table when it’s ready. The also have wait-staff who will get you drink refills. Soda or lemonade is the only choice when you’re on the DDP.

Overall Rating: 9

Once again, many thanks to everyone who takes the time to leave a comment. It's nice to know that you're enjoying this and gives me incentive to continue. :thumbsup2 I didn't realize how time-consuming these reports are and my hat's off to those awesome members who not only do dining reviews, but also write entire trip reports as well. I don't know where you find the time, but you people are amazing!

Day 4: Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, Earl of Sandwich, Wolfgang Puck Express

Today was our sleep-in, laze around, take-it-easy morning. After driving down from Toronto and having two early mornings in the parks, we were more than ready for a break.

We stayed at Port Orleans, French Quarter and had a wonderful experience here! We stayed there for the first time last December and fell in love with this resort so decided we were going back again. It didn’t disappoint. :thumbsup2

We got up around 9:30; Frank and the kids decided they were hungry and went to the food court for breakfast.

http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/9171/fastsandwichzr0.jpg

They all chose the breakfast croissant sandwich, which is a fresh, flaky croissant filled with scrambled eggs, bacon and melted cheese. They all enjoyed this and had it for breakfast many times during our stay. I wasn’t hungry so I just sat with them and had a coffee. (As an aside: we purchased the refillable mugs. They’re a good value, especially for longer stays.)

After breakfast and a swim at the resort, we headed for Downtown Disney for lunch, shopping and Disney Quest. We also had a 5:50 ADR at Raglan Road for dinner.

We decided to split up for lunch, since the kids wanted to go to Earl of Sandwich and I had my tastebuds all set for the 4 cheese pizza at Wolfgang Puck Express. I’m sorry we don’t have pictures from either place, I was sure I’d taken a picture of my pizza, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere and Cheryl forgot to bring her camera. :confused3 Anyway, I’d read many very positive reviews about this pizza, and I’m happy to report they’re all true! It was delicious! Ooey gooey cheesey goodness! Here’s the description from the menu at AllEars:

WP - Four Cheese - Mozzarella, Fontina, parmesan, and creamy goat cheese with fresh and sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, and pesto sauce.

I’m drooling thinking about it now … Since I hadn’t eaten breakfast, I was more than ready for this, but I did allow Frank to have a slice … a small slice … :rotfl2: He doesn’t like goat cheese so he picked that part off and gave it to me, but he enjoyed the rest. I had Lemonade and a chocolate chip cookie, which I ate for breakfast the next day. Nutrition concerns go right out the window when you’re at the World, don’t they? ;)
Rating: 10/10
WPE was just as busy and chaotic at lunch as it had been for dinner the previous day. Mind you, we didn’t time it very well and were there around 12:30, right at the lunch-time rush.

As I mentioned before, Cheryl and Neil wanted to have lunch at Earl of Sandwich, which we had visited during our trip last December. They really enjoyed it then and were looking forward to going again.

DS ordered: Hawaiian BBQ - Hawaiian BBQ ham, grilled chicken, with fresh pineapple and Swiss cheese. He loved this!! This is the same sandwich he ordered last year and he said it was just as delicious this time. He had a bag of Miss Vicky’s Jalapeño chips (subbed for a cookie) and a Cherry Coke.
Rating: 10/10

DD ordered: The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce. Cheryl doesn’t like horseradish, so she substituted the sauce for mayo. This is the same sandwich she ordered last year, but she was very disappointed with it this time. :sad2: She said the beef was fatty and there wasn’t enough cheese. It was delicious in December, but in her opinion the quality was lacking this time. She also had a chocolate chip cookie and Lemonade.
Rating: 6/10

Frank skipped lunch since he was still full from his breakfast sandwich. He did have a slice of my pizza and part of Cheryl’s sandwich (which he agreed wasn’t as good as last time.) I had The Original as well when we visited in December, and I wasn’t excited about it then. It was ok, but nothing special IMO so it was easy for me to skip this one in favor of WPE.

Would we go back to Earl of Sandwich? It’s hard to say since we’ve discovered WPE, but Neil really enjoyed his sandwich from there and I know many people have tried other selections there and really enjoyed them. I wouldn’t be opposed to trying it again if we were in the mood for a sandwich (I’d just avoid The Original 1762.)

Up next: Raglan Road (with lots of pics!)

Loving your reviews.

I have to admit I wasn't overly impressed with Earl of Sandwich when we ate there but many people rave about it.

I am definately going to try WPE though, the food looks awesome and your reviews speak very highly of it.

always good to hear another Canuck's point of view (I'm from Scarborough).

Raglan Road

This restaurant is truly beautiful inside! It’s quite large with lots of polished wood and marble. The bars are beautiful; I took a photo of one as an example.

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/5473/raglanroadbarzn5.jpg

I believe two of the bars specialize in beer and whiskey, and the various beer and whiskey flights seemed to be quite popular. I dislike beer and I figured undiluted whiskey in the heat would probably result in behaviour I wouldn’t want photographic evidence of, so I passed. Instead I chose the Celtic Sangria, which was unbelievably good!!

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/3706/raglanroadcheryldz2.jpg
Cheryl agrees this drink is a winner.

Here’s another pic of my Sangria along with DH’s Stella Artois. Mmm Mmm Good!

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/3161/celticsangriastellaartosm6.jpg

For the appetizer course, we ordered:

DH, DS & DD:Colpucinno - frothy Colcannon soup, a creamy potato, bacon and cabbage soup.

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/387/raglanroadapp2xk8.jpg

All three of them loved this soup! I had a taste and it was incredibly good, very creamy with wonderful flavor. You could taste all the main ingredients, although the cabbage was very subtle (much to the delight of DS and DD :rotfl: ) The cracker you can see threaded through the handle of the cup was homemade, and had a garlic and herb flavor.
They unanimously gave this soup a rating of 9/10

I ordered: Seared Beef Salad- With a horseradish drizzle served with mixed greens and crispy fried onions.

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/1244/raglanroadapp1zs6.jpg

OMG!!! I don’t have enough superlatives to adequately describe this dish. The combination of all the flavors was incredible! The crispness of the greens, the subtle tang of the vinaigrette dressing, the creamy bite of the horseradish drizzle, the crunch of the fried onions along with the perfectly cooked, extremely tender beef all combined to create a dish that has to be tasted to be believed. I wish they served this as an entrée. Even though there are many wonderful choices on the menu, I would get this in a heartbeat, it’s that good!
Rating: 10/10

After a wonderful first course, it was time for the main event!

DH: Fish and Chips- beer-battered fish and chips served with fresh tartar sauce.

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/3309/raglanroadfentreewe7.jpg

Frank enjoyed this, although he said the batter was a little soggy and he much prefers a crisp coating. He said the fish was very flavorful and he enjoyed the fries. It must have been ok because he cleaned his plate. ;)
Rating: 7/10

DS: Serious Sirloin Steak - 10 oz sirloin topped with an Irish whiskey glaze, drizzled with fresh basil oil. Served with mashed potatoes and topped with crispy fried onion strings.

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/5734/raglanroadnentreeww9.jpg

Neil enjoyed this meal. He said the steak was very tender but a little overcooked. He ordered it medium but when it arrived it was definitely well done. He loved the potatoes and the onion strings. He was another member of the clean plate club. :yay:
Rating: 8/10

DD: Pan Fried Lemon Sole and Chips- Sole fillet lightly sauteed in lemon butter, garnished with parsley and served with chips.

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/4063/raglanroadchentreeae3.jpg

Cheryl loved this entrée! The fish was perfectly cooked and was moist and flavorful. She said the asparagus was delicious, tender and served in a mild butter sauce. There was nothing to overpower the delicate flavor of the fish. She also enjoyed the fries, but wished they’d been a little crispier on the outside.
Rating: 9/10

Me: Posh Pan Chicken - Pan roasted chicken breast sauteed in garlic, olive oil, a suggestion of chili and over so slightly glazed with an Irish cider cream sauce. Served with sauteed vegetables.

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6374/raglanroadcentreeev4.jpg

I enjoyed this meal, but found the chicken rather bland, it really needed more sauce. It was also a little dry, but I’d rather have that than underdone chicken. :scared: The vegetables were tasty and had a bit of a kick. All in all, it was enjoyable enough, but I wouldn’t order it again.
Rating: 7/10

Time for Dessert!!

DH, DS & DD all ordered Irish Apple Pie a la mode.

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6830/raglanroaddessert1vr2.jpg

Everyone loved this and it was quickly devoured. The lacy thing on top is hardened butterscotch, which nobody liked. Cheryl said it almost tasted like it had been scorched.
They all give this dessert a rating of 9/10

I ordered Ger’s Bread and Butter Pudding.

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/7425/raglanroadcdessertww5.jpg

This is heaven in a cup!! I forgot to take a picture before I’d mixed the two sauces in, but those little pitchers hold warm Butterscotch Sauce and Crème Anglaise. The pudding is hot, and you have to excavate a hole in the middle of it where you pour these two amazing sauces and then mix it all together. Mmmmmm, it’s unbelievably good!! A word of advice however, eat it quickly because it’s not nearly as good once it starts to cool.
Rating: 10/10

In conclusion, we had a wonderful evening at Raglan Road and we’ll be back!

Overall Rating: 8 ½
Service: B+ (We had a few different servers, but they were all efficient and kept our drinks refilled. All our food arrived hot and fresh, so they got it out to us quickly.

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory & Pecos Bill's

This was supposed to be our Animal Kingdom morning, but the kids were both exhausted (being typical teenagers, consistently getting up early in the morning is not on the top of their list things to do while on holiday ;)) so they wanted another sleep-in morning. Frank and I were up and raring to go, so we decided to take a tour of some of the deluxe resorts and then visit the Magic Kingdom. While we were there, we decided to stop at Pecos Bill’s for lunch.

DH and I both ordered the Bacon Double Cheeseburger with Fries and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie Mousse for dessert.

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/1116/pecosbillswv2.jpg

This was good for what it was, a quick lunch so you can get back out into the park. I seem to remember the burgers being better other years though. It didn’t seem to be as juicy or as high quality as before, or maybe we were just there on an off day. Nothing was bad, it just wasn’t as enjoyable as before. The brownie was good, but very sweet and rich. I ended up scraping all the mousse off the top and even then could only eat about half. Frank enjoyed the brownie and polished it off.
Rating: 6 ½ /10
Would we return? It’s hard to say … if we were in the area and wanted a burger, probably, but I wouldn’t make a special trip.

When DD & DS finally decided to drag themselves out of bed ;) they had lunch at the POFQ Food Court. Cheryl remembered her camera and took pictures of what they had. (sniff … I taught her well … I’m so proud! :lmao:)

DD ordered a Hot Dog with Fries, a carton of Skim Milk and an Orange for dessert.

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5304/pofqchlunchix6.jpg

She loved this! She says the hot dogs from POFQ are always delicious and this was no exception. She was happy to discover that she could trade a baked item for fresh fruit for her dessert and thoroughly enjoyed her orange.
Rating: 9/10

DS ordered the Double Cheeseburger with Fries, Chocolate Milk and subbed his dessert for a bag of chips.

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/889/pofqnlunchse8.jpg

Neil really enjoyed this burger. He said it was juicy and very flavorful.

Rose & Crown

When Frank and I returned to the resort, we rallied the troops and headed for Epcot. We had a 5:50 ADR at Rose and Crown. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were looking forward to trying it.

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/7065/rosecrownjj0.jpg

We checked in at 5:30 and were given a beeper. It went off about 20 minutes later and they took us to our table … outside. It was still oppressively hot and muggy, and we were looking forward to some A/C so I asked if we could be moved to a table inside. They said it was fine but we’d have to wait until one opened up. About 10 minutes later, the beeper went off again and we were escorted into the lovely, cool interior. Ahhhh … bliss! This restaurant is very nice inside, I’ve never been in an English pub, but this fits what I imagine one would look like. It’s all warm colours and dark woods. There was a large group celebrating a birthday that night and they were really noisy! Our server was Vicky, who hailed from a suburb of London, and she was wonderful! She fully explained the DDP and what we could get with it. Basically everything on the menu was included, and we could order smoothies as our drink selection if we chose. DS and I decided to do that and ordered strawberry smoothies, which were delicious!

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/4107/rosecrownsmoothieslv3.jpg

Along with our drinks, Vicky also brought a basket of warm rolls and butter.

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/4114/rcrollbutterwz3.jpg

For our appetizers, we ordered:

DD & DS: Potato and Leek Soup - roasted potatoes, cream and leeks

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/998/rcchnappetizerhr3.jpg

They both loved this soup. I tasted it and it was delcious. Very smooth and creamy. They both liked this soup a little better than the one at Raglan Road, though it was delicious as well.
They each give it 9 ½ /10

DH & I had: Fruit and Cheese Plate - Irish Cheddar, Mushroom Brie, and Stilton Pastry with individual accompaniments.

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/9427/rccappetizervs0.jpg

The accompaniements were candied walnuts, grapes, crusty bread, green apple slices and chutney (in the small sealer jar.) I enjoyed this, particularly the cheddar and the brie, but Frank was only so-so about it. He’s very picky about cheese and didn’t really enjoy any of these. The Stilton has a very strong, sharp flavor which he didn’t care for at all. He gave this appetizer a 5/10 and I give it a 7/10.

On to the entrées!

DD & DS both ordered: Bangers and Mash - traditional English sausages, with braised cabbage and bacon, mashed potatoes and shallot gravy. (They both substituted English Peas for the cabbage.)

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/8235/rcbangersmashga9.jpg

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/6199/rcchentreebs9.jpg

Neil and Cheryl both enjoyed this very much. The sausage was very juicy and flavorful as well as being filling. Neil found the gravy to be quite rich and ended up scraping as much of it off as he could. He said it wasn’t that he didn’t like the taste, it was just too heavy.
Both give it 8/10.

DH ordered Harry Ramsden's Fish & Chips - Battered fresh Cod served with English Chips.

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1439/rcfentreegp1.jpg

Frank wasn’t impressed with this. Once again, the batter on the fish was very soggy and he said his meal was only warm, not hot. The chips are under the fish and as a result ended up being rather greasy and soggy as well.
Rating: 4/10

I ordered Steak and Fish - Grilled Steak with black and tan demi-glace, Harry Ramsden's Battered fresh cod, green beans and mashed potatoes.

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5750/rccentreeqs2.jpg

You can't really tell from the picture, but that steak was huge! I barely made a dent in it before I was stuffed. It was a little tough, but seasoned and cooked well. I ordered it medium and it arrived perfectly pink in the center. I was also underwhelmed by the fish for exactly the same reasons as Frank. The mashed potatoes weren’t bad, but they didn’t come close to the ones I had at WPE. The green beans were good, still a little on the crisp side.
Rating: 7/10

DH & DS both passed on dessert. Cheryl and I decided to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding: steamed pudding cake with warm vanilla custard and hot butter rum sauce.

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/6886/rcstickytoffeepuddingng0.jpg
Sorry, I forgot to take a picture before we started eating it!

This was delicious! Not as good as Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding from Raglan Road, but close! Cheryl and I both loved it, but could only eat half of it.
Rating: 9/10

After dessert, Vicky brought Cheryl a birthday card signed by all the CMs at Rose & Crown. Very nice!

Overall Rating: 7/10
Service receives a solid A. Vicky was friendly and personable, explained things well and our drinks were never empty.

Would we return? Not likely, there are other places we want to try in Epcot.

Up next: Lunch at POFQ, dinner at Kona Café, drinks at Scat Cat Lounge … stay tuned!

This was a no-park day so we spent the morning enjoying the resort … lounging by the pool, reading, poking around the gift shop, etc. We had lunch in the food court. We found the food at POFQ to be consistently good; we’ve always enjoyed our meals here. Today we ordered:

DD, DH & I: Chicken Parmesan served with a side of fettuccini and a garlic breadstick, topped with a chunky marinara sauce. Cheryl chose an apple for her dessert while Frank and I had the fruit cup. To drink, Cheryl had a carton of Skim Milk, I had Chocolate Milk and Frank chose Grapefruit Juice.

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/2033/pofqchickenparmesanko5.jpg

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2963/pofqfruitcupsh9.jpg

Everything was very good! We all give it a rating of 8/10.

DS: Pasta and Meatballs, served with a garlic breadstick. Neil also chose Chocolate Milk for his drink and an apple for dessert.

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/511/pofqspaghettimeatballseb2.jpg

Neil enjoyed this and gave it a rating of 8/10.

We had a 5:30 ADR at Kona Café so we left our resort at 4:15 and headed for the Magic Kingdom where we hopped on the Resort Monorail. We spent some time exploring the beautiful Polynesian Resort.

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/867/polyneilul1.jpg

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/503/polywaterfallot7.jpg

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8750/konacafesignsq7.jpg

This is a busy place, but we didn’t have long to wait. After we checked in at 5:15 we were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was very knowledgeable about the DDP and explained that we could order anything on the menu, including smoothies. We ordered:

DH: Non-alcoholic Pina Colada

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6619/konapinacoladaxm8.jpg

DS: Orange-Passionfruit Smoothie

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9441/konaorangepassionfruitsot5.jpg

Me: Strawberry-Banana Smoothie

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/5416/konasberrybanadasmoothinv7.jpg

DD ordered her usual Diet Coke.

All the smoothies were delicious and we were all pleased with our selections.

With our drinks came Kona’s signature Sweet Bread and Macadamia Nut Butter.

http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/7015/konabreadgk6.jpg

http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/3421/konabutterdo4.jpg
(Yes, we’d all had some before I remembered to take a picture. :rolleyes1 It was delicious!!)

Our server suggested mixing up the appetizers so we could all try a bit of everything. She said many people make the mistake of choosing 3 or 4 orders of Sticky Wings (their most popular appetizer) without realizing that each order consists of 8 pieces of chicken. Regardless, DH and DS each decided to order the Wings: Sticky Wings - crispy wings in a garlic glaze with a tangy mustard drizzle and toasted sesame seeds.

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6348/konastickywingsvd6.jpg

They both loved these! I tried one of DH’s and have to agree, they were delicious! They quickly disappeared.
Rating: 10/10

DD ordered the Chicken Noodle Soup

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/5665/konachickensoupnu5.jpg

She really enjoyed her selection. I tasted a small spoonful and I can honestly say it’s one of the best chicken noodle soups I’ve ever tasted. It had big chunks of white meat chicken and vegetables and the broth was well seasoned. Very tasty!
Rating: 8/10

I had: Lump Crab Cakes - pan-seared lump crab cakes with Asian tartar and pineapple relish.

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8585/konacrabcakesym7.jpg

Wow, these were incredible! No filler here, just lots of delicious crab meat. The salad was only so-so, but I didn’t order this dish for the salad.
Rating: 9/10

On to the main event!!

DS & DD both ordered: Pan Asian Noodles - Asian noodles with sliced chicken, seasonal vegetables, and a house made vegetarian stir-fry sauce. They were told the shrimp add-on was included on the DP, so they added it.

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8080/konapanasiannoodleske3.jpg

They were both so happy they ordered this! Everything was perfectly cooked, and the sauce on this dish is incredible!! The chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful, and shrimp were quite large and very tasty. The veggies were tender but still a little on the crisp side, which we all love, so everything about this entrée was a winner.
Rating: 10/10

DH ordered: Char Crusted Filet Mignon - mashed yukon gold potatoes, asparagus and a 5-spice mushroom sauce.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/627/konasteakhf2.jpg

Frank loved this. This was his second favourite meal of the trip. His steak was cooked perfectly medium and the mushroom sauce was a wonderful compliment to the meat. He said the mashed potatoes were delicious, which is a huge compliment because he’s not a mashed potato fan. He said the asparagus was just asparagus, nothing special.
Rating: 8/10

I ordered: Macadamia Mahi Mahi - served with mushroom rice, sauteed bok choy, lime-butter sauce and crispy fried onions.

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/3749/konamahimahiky7.jpg

I was disappointed with this. The fish was cooked well and had a nice texture, but it was very bland and somewhat tasteless. The mushroom rice was good, but again I felt it needed more flavour. I know many people love this dish, but I found it rather boring.
Rating: 6/10

On to dessert!! :jumping1:

DH & DS both chose the Kona Kone, which is a scoop of chocolate and vanilla ice cream in a chocolate dipped waffle cone, with chocolate syrup, sprinkes, M & M’s, cotton candy and a chocolate Mickey swizzle.

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8483/konasundaeam3.jpg

They both loved this and ate every bite. They each give it two thumbs up and a rating of 9/10.

DD ordered: White Chocolate Cheesecake - cheesecake with a perfect hint of white chocolate topped with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a brandy snap.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1391/konacheesecakern1.jpg

Cheryl loves cheesecake and raved about this one. She said the fruit syrups (I believe they were passionfruit, strawberry and kiwi) were also delicious. Her plate was squeaky clean when she was finished.
Rating: 10/10

I ordered: Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart - chocolate tart shell with chunks of macadamia nut and chocolate served with vanilla ice cream and caramel rum sauce.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4540/konamacadamiatartva0.jpg

Our waitress thought Cheryl ordered this dessert and had the plate decorated for her birthday. Cheryl thanked her for her thoughtfulness and we simply traded plates after she left. ;-) This dessert was mouth-watering! Its texture is like a pecan pie, it’s very rich and sooooo good! I’d definitely order it again.

Everyone agrees Kona Café ties with Raglan Road as our second-favourite meal of the trip. Even though my entrée wasn’t what I expected, everything was fresh and the ingredients were top quality. We’d definitely return!

When we returned to POFQ, we decided to go to Scat Cat Lounge and listen to Elliot Dysen, who puts on a terrific one-man show. While we were there, we enjoyed these two drinks:

Pina Colava: Bacardi Razz Rum blended with Pina Colada mix and Raspberry Puree.

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/482/scatcatlounge1vb5.jpg

Orange Dream: Skyy Orange Vodka and Ice Cream blended with Monin Candied Orange.

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9008/scatcatlounge2qv3.jpg

Both these drinks were delicious, but I’d have to give the edge to the Pina Colava, it was awesome!!

Coming up in the next installment: Columbia Harbor House and Tony’s Town Square.

We drove down, but parked the car at the resort and didn't use it again until it was time to leave. The busses were great, our average wait time was less than 10 minutes. We always got a seat, the only times we had to stand were coming home from the parks after closing, and that only happened twice. Once at MK and once at Epcot. I also really recommend taking the boat to DD if you're planning to go there. It's a lovely relaxed ride and very pretty! :thumbsup2

:headache: That's what I was missing!! A nice Lapu-Lapu beforehand would have helped that entree considerably! I'll remember that next time!

Thanks for the Kona Chowder recommendation, just another reason to return! :woohoo:

[QUOTE=MrsB1228;20785122]This was a no-park day so we spent the morning enjoying the resort … lounging by the pool, reading, poking around the gift shop, etc.

That's the Chicken Parmesan. It does look a little gray in the pic but I think that's an effect of the lighting in the food court, or the angle I took the pic on. It certainly wasn't gray when we had it, and was quite delicious! :thumbsup2

Day 7: Columbia Harbor House & Tony’s Town Square

This was our MK day so after a fun morning of rides and shows, (we went to Mickey’s Philharmagic three times! I love that show! ) we were ready for some lunch. One of our favourite places in the Magic Kingdom is Columbia Harbor House, and we arrived, hot and hungry, at 11:30. It wasn’t very busy yet, so we were able to get our order quickly and then head upstairs for a table by the window where we could eat and watch the activity in the street below.

DH had: Fried Chicken Strips - Served with choice of either French Fries or Apple Slices. He had fries, a Coke and the Apple Crisp (although it was really more of an apple blossom.)

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/2076/chhchickenstripsiw9.jpg

He enjoyed this very much. The chicken strips are solid pieces of white meat (no processed junk) and the fries weren’t greasy and were delicious. The apple crisp was also a hit, and was gone in a flash. LOL!
Rating: 8/10

DD & DS both had: Captain's Special - Fried Chicken Strips and Fish - Served with choice of French Fries or Apple Slices. They each had fries as their side. Neil chose Chocolate Milk and the Apple Crisp while Cheryl had Diet Coke and Strawberry Yogurt.

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4417/chhchickenfishis6.jpg

They really enjoyed this! They loved both the chicken and the fish and really enjoyed the fries as well. Neil loved his apple crisp and Cheryl enjoyed her yogurt.
Rating: 9/10

I had: Anchors Aweigh Sandwich - white tuna with lettuce and tomato. It came with potato chips, and I had Chocolate Milk and the Apple Crisp.

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/9232/dhhsandwichpy9.jpg

I love this sandwich! It’s served on toasted multi-grain bread and has just the right amount of mayo. Some places either make their tuna salad too dry or too sloppy, but CHH’s is perfect! Yummy!! I really enjoyed the apple crisp, it was my favourite CS dessert.
Rating: 9/10

We took a break after lunch and went back to the resort to rest and get out of the heat. It was H-O-T that day, whew!! We headed back to the MK around four, we had a 5:45 ADR at Tony’s Town Square and Cheryl and I wanted to stay for the evening to shop and watch Spectro and Wishes.

We checked in at Tony’s at 5:30 and were seated after a 20 minute wait. Our table was decorated with Mickey confetti and streamers for Cheryl’s birthday, which was a nice surprise.

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/4388/tonystablecu9.jpg

Hmm … what shall I order?

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/2273/tonyscherylhj5.jpg

No specialty drinks were included on the DP here, so we all ordered sodas or iced tea.

For our appetizers, we ordered:

DD & DS: Garlic Breadsticks & Dipping Sauce

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/9576/tonysbreadsticksqb7.jpg

Their unanimous opinion of these? Gross!! They said they had absolutely no flavor and the dipping sauce was simply cold pasta sauce. They had one taste and left the rest.
Rating: 1/10 (and they said they’re being generous ;))

DH had: Italian Vegetable Soup

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/1312/tonyssoupax8.jpg

Frank loves vegetable soup and he really enjoyed this! According to our server, there are two different soups available every day. The Italian Vegetable is always available while the other one changes daily. That day (Saturday) the other soup was Broccoli/Cheddar.
Rating: 9/10

I ordered: Spinach and Artichoke Dip - three cheese blend, tomatoes, and served with grilled bread.

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/2610/tonysdipop6.jpg

This was delicious and 1000% better than the dip I had at Sci-Fi! The flavors all worked well together and the dip was served nice and hot so the cheese was wonderfully gooey when you spread it on the bread. I shared with Cheryl and Neil since their appetizer was so disappointing and this is more than enough to share. It’s very filling.
Rating: 9/10

Entrée time!

DH & DS both ordered: Spaghetti & Meatballs

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/4280/tonysspgmeatballshr6.jpg

Both Frank and Neil enjoyed this and they each cleaned their plate. It’s certainly not a complex dish, and if I were paying out of pocket I would be appalled at the price, but it’s simple and satisfying and they both enjoy it.
Rating: 7/10

DD wanted a pizza, but the only one on the menu that night was a four cheese one that contained feta. Cheryl hates feta and asked if they could make her one without it. Our server checked, said it was no problem and told Cheryl the chef would make her one with mozzarella, gorgonzola, provolone and parmesan as well as tomato sauce, oregano and basil. Here is the end result.

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/7892/tonyspizzaix2.jpg

She loved it and ate every bite! :thumbsup2
Rating: 9/10

I ordered the Baked Ziti

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/8773/tonysbakedzitime5.jpg

This was absolutely delicious and I cleaned my plate! I've tried many different items from Tony's menu, and this is hands down my favourite. I'd love to have some now!
Rating: 8/10

I apologize, I forgot to take a picture of our dessert. On the DP, you are served a sample of the restaurants most popular desserts. We received two plates between the four of us, and each plate contained Tiramisu, Amaretto Cheesecake and Chocolate Chip Cannoli. They were ok, but nothing to get really excited about. My favourite was the cheesecake while Frank devoured the Tiramisu. The kids didn’t really enjoy any of them and just picked.
Rating: 5/10

Our server brought out a special dessert for Cheryl’s birthday, and I did remember to take a picture of that one. ;)

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/9924/tonyschdessertlw0.jpg

She was too full to eat much of it, so her brother helped her out. <g>

We go to Tony’s every trip and have always enjoyed our meals there. It’s certainly not gourmet, and we have better Italian restaurants here at home, but the whole experience is what makes it special, and this restaurant is beautiful inside. Besides, Lady and the Tramp is DD’s favourite movie, so we couldn’t get away with skipping it. ;)

After DH & DS left to go back to the resort, DD and I did some shopping and stopped at the Main Street Confectionary to check out the goodies. The smell of fudge made my mouth water, then I saw this display and decided to take a photo.

 I tried so hard to remember to snap the photo before we dug in, and we all got better at it as time went on. Sometimes we were really hungry though, and then it was like feeding time at the zoo ... you forget the camera and get out of the way if you know what's good for you. :scared1:

You'll love POFQ! This was our second stay and we loved it just as much this time as we did in December. It's a lovely resort, and it's small size makes it easy to navigate and a welcome respite from the parks. You'll have a great time! :thumbsup2

Day 8: Wolfgang Puck Express and Spoodles

We had a nice easy morning, slept in a little, then had a light breakfast at the food court. I had Rice Krispies with skim milk and sliced apples with caramel dipping sauce. This was a light satisfying breakfast that I had a few times during our stay. For those of you on the dining plan, this breakfast would “cost” you 2 snack credits.

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/1772/pofqcerealappleslicessc7.jpg

Later on, we enjoyed a leisurely boat ride to Downtown Disney for an afternoon of fun at DisneyQuest. We stopped at Wolfgang Puck Express for lunch first.

DD & DS both ordered the 4 Cheese Ravioli again, and both raved about it again. :cool1:

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/7749/wperaviolitj8.jpg
(I thought I’d post a picture of what this dish looks like before it’s half-eaten. ;) )

DH & I shared: Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza.

We both enjoyed this and there was more than enough to share.
Rating: 8 ½ /10

After a fun afternoon of blowing up aliens, playing pinball and building ever-more-outrageous roller coasters, we hopped on a bus to the Boardwalk for our 5:40 ADR at Spoodles. This was another brand-new experience for us and we were looking forward to it. (Well, to be honest, the kids and I were looking forward to it … Frank was “iffy” about the Mediterranean menu.)

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/4050/spoodlessignuz3.jpg

Spoodles is very nice inside, and they have an open kitchen at the front of the restaurant that services the take-out window where you can order pizza. It’s fun to watch the cooks preparing the pizza dough; rolling it, stretching it, and flipping it in the air. If I did that, it would take weeks to scrape it off the ceiling :rotfl2:

We had another great server here. As a matter of fact, I can’t complain about the service we received in any of the restaurants we ate at. Some were better than others of course, but all were good.

No specialty drinks were allowed on the DP here either, so we all had sodas. For our appetizers, we ordered:

DS & DD: Four Cheese Flatbread - with roasted garlic puree and sage.

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/5525/spoodlescheeseflatbreadgc3.jpg

They both enjoyed this, but found it very filling. It arrived nice and hot, the cheese was still bubbling! It was delicious, but because of all the cheese it was also very rich.
Rating: 8/10

DH: Greek Salad - vine-ripened tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, bell peppers, kalamata olives, pepperoncini, and feta cheese, marinated in lemon-herb vinaigrette.

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/9414/spoodlessaladmm1.jpg

Frank hates feta and asked for it to be left off. He loved this salad! He said all the greens were crisp and fresh and the different flavors blended wonderfully. He really enjoyed the dressing they used, I had a tiny taste and have to agree that it was a winner! :thumbsup2
Rating: 9/10

I had: Mediterranean Dips - with toasted pita, marinated olives and almonds.

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/6669/spoodlesmeddipsjv6.jpg

The different dips were tzatziki, one made with curry and sour cream, and one made from feta. The separate dish on the plate with the pita triangles is hummus, which we were told was made fresh daily, The other dish contains almonds and marinated black and green olives. This was delicious!! I especially enjoyed the tzatziki and the curry dip, which had a spicy kick. Yum!
Rating: 8 ½ /10

Along with our appetizers, we also received Spoodles Herb Bread served with oil and spices for dipping.

http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/7990/spoodlesbreadoilba3.jpg

Time for the main event!

DD and I both ordered: Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Linguine - with preserved lemons, Italian parsley, shaved garlic and butter.

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/949/spoodleslemonshrimplingra3.jpg

This was delicious! It was loaded with shrimp and had a very delicate flavor. The lemon gave it a refreshing, light taste that went well with the flavor of the shrimp and the garlic. The serving was huge; Cheryl and I could only manage to eat about ½ of our entrees before we were full.
Rating: 9/10

DH ordered: Oak-fired Steak Kabobs - with multigrain pilaf, balsamic red onions and harissa.

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/2066/spoodlessteakkabobsga0.jpg

Frank thought this was ok. The steak was cooked medium, as ordered, but Frank said it was a bit chewy and he didn’t really enjoy the overall flavor. He said the rice was good, but still had an “odd” taste. Please remember though that Frank is not an adventurous eater, and anything spiced with more than salt and pepper will often result in the same comment. :rolleyes1
Rating: 7/10

DS had: Rigatoni with mild Italian sausage, tomatoes and portobello mushrooms.

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/5018/spoodlesrigatonixx4.jpg

Neil loved this! He said the sauce was delicious and the combination of flavors was incredible. It must have been because I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a clean plate after a meal.
Rating: 10/10

For dessert, we chose the dessert sampler, which contains all the desserts offered except for the ice cream sundae. Each one is meant to be shared by 2 people, so we ordered two of them. The sampler contained: Chocolate Apricot Pistachio Cake, White Chocolate Orange Cake, Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee, Almond Caramel Gelato and a chocolate dipped Biscotti. I’m afraid we gobbled them up before I remembered to take a picture, so no pic of this. :sad2:
Rating: 8 ½ /10

The kids and I enjoyed Spoodles very much, but Frank was less enthused simply because the food isn’t what he’s used to. He loved the salad and the desserts, but was only so-so about his entrée.

Three pretzel rods dipped in chocolate (2 in milk chocolate and 1 in dark), rolled in peanuts and drizzled with white chocolate and caramel. These were sooo good, and I snacked on them for 3 days (with DS’s help ;) )

Day 9: Le Cellier

This day didn’t start off well. We had originally planned to go to Typhoon Lagoon in the morning but DD woke up feeling very unwell. She didn’t want to do anything other than stay in bed so we decided to just spend the morning at the resort. After breakfast, DH and I took a leisurely stroll over to Riverside and had fun exploring that resort and looking around their gift shop. After we came back, Cheryl was still sleeping so we decided to change and hang around the pool for a while. We had lunch in the food court (we had the same meals I’ve reviewed previously, so I won’t bother going over them again.) We spent the rest of the day doing our own thing … reading, napping, playing Nintendo DS (guess who chose that activity? ;)) We had a 7:50 ADR for Le Cellier which we had all been looking forward to as it had been our favourite restaurant during our December trip. Unfortunately, even though Cheryl started to feel better in the afternoon (I think the heat and all the rich food was the culprit) she didn’t feel up to making the trip to Epcot. It was another very hot, muggy day and she wasn’t willing to venture too far from our air-conditioned room, not even for Le Cellier. I was going to cancel our reservations but she insisted we go, saying she’d feel awful if we all missed it because of her. She had dinner at the food court, and once again remembered to take a picture of her meal.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/9915/pofqchdinnersb4.jpg

This is the Chicken Club Wrap, served with pasta salad. As you can see, she also chose Skim Milk to drink and had an orange for her dessert. She said this was good; the wrap was really tasty. She wasn’t a fan of the pasta salad though, and said it was rather bland and tasteless.
Rating: 7/10

Meanwhile, in Epcot, we had arrived at Nirvana …

http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/6358/lcfnsignsm7.jpg

I checked us in at the podium and we went back outside to wait for our table. While we were waiting, I took some pictures of the lovely gardens.

http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/8016/lcgrounds1rz6.jpg
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/7579/lcgrounds2is0.jpg

We didn’t have long to wait before they announced that our table was ready. We took a seat in the Yukon section, and had a wonderful server whose name I absolutely can’t remember. She was awesome but I completely forgot to write down her name and if I don’t write it … I don’t remember it. :sad2: Anyway, we were allowed to get shakes or smoothies on the DP, so DS and I ordered:

http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/1774/lcmangosmoothiecs7.jpg

Neil’s choice was the Mango Smoothie. He had this when we were here in December and enjoyed it just as much this time.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/5985/lcfrozencapuccinose0.jpg

I had the Frozen Cappuccino, which is no longer on the menu. I mentioned this to our wonderful server and she said they’d happily make one for me, no problem. Mmmm … it’s so good!!

Frank didn’t want to fill up with a shake so just ordered a Coke.

Along with the drinks she brought that famous bread.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3374/lcbreadwv2.jpg

There were two pretzel breads, (DS and I had already devoured one) one sourdough and one multigrain. Frank had appropriated the sourdough (his favourite) when this pic was taken, as you can see at the bottom left of the picture. ;) Delicious!

For our appetizers, we selected:

DS: Steakhouse Caesar - romaine lettuce, parmesan-black pepper crisp, sour dough croutons, creamy Caesar dressing.

http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/1221/lccaesartr4.jpg

Neil said this salad was ok, but not great. He said the dressing was very good, but there was way too much of it. He said it overpowered everything else and he ate less than half of it. He said he wished he’d ordered the cheese soup, which is what he had last time. He made up for it by eating the other pretzel bread.
Rating: 6/10

DH: Beef and Barley Soup - rich beef broth and fresh vegetables.

http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/981/lcsoupxq0.jpg

Frank loved this soup. It has a delicious beef broth and contains large chunks of lean beef and veggies. It tastes like it’s been slowly simmering all day. Frank gives it two thumbs up.
Rating: 9/10

I ordered: Duck Two Ways - duck confit and seared smoked duck breast with Chambord syrup.

http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/7217/lcduck2waysvh4.jpg

I didn’t think any appetizer could be better than the Seared Beef Salad at Raglan Road, but I was wrong. This was hands-down my favourite appetizer of the trip. The combination of flavors is amazing and there’s no way I can adequately describe it. If you like duck at all, do yourself a favor and order this dish! You’ll be soooo happy you did!!
Rating: 10/10 (actually more like 11/10 ::yes::)

Entrée Time!!

DS and I both had: 7 oz. Filet Mignon - glazed with maple barbecue sauce and accompanied by cream cheese mashed potatoes.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/7948/lcbbqfileten4.jpg

This was amazing once again. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and cut like butter. They were melt-in-your-mouth good! And is there any better side dish than those cream cheese mashed potatoes? I think not.
Rating: We both give our meal 10/10

Frank ordered the same filet but since he’s not a mashed potato fan and he hates cream cheese , he had it with a side of roasted Yukon gold potatoes.

http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/43/lcfiletroastpotzg8.jpg

Frank’s steak was just as tender and succulent as ours and he said the BBQ sauce gave it a wonderful sweet, smoky flavor without overpowering the taste of the beef. He enjoyed the roast potatoes as well. He loved this meal and also gave it 10/10.

Time for dessert!

DS: Campfire S'mores - chocolate graham crackers and roasted marshmallows with vanilla ice cream.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3029/lcsmoresja8.jpg

Neil loved this dessert and ate every bite. He said the mango, lime and strawberry fruit syrups were also delicious and really added an extra flavor kick.
Rating: 9/10

DH: Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake - chocolate cake brushed with Canadian whiskey, layered with chocolate mousse, finished with tarragon anglaise, topped with a chocolate curl.

http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/555/lcchoccakecv5.jpg

Frank had this same dessert in December and was looking forward to having it again. He said the cake is very moist and very chocolately, just the way he likes it!
Rating: 10/10

I had: Cherry Shortcake - cherry-almond cake topped with housemade lavender ice cream. I had them serve the lavender ice cream on the side in case I didn’t like it.

http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/851/lccherrycobblervc7.jpg

I enjoyed this dessert very much and the lavender ice cream was actually very good. It tasted like honey to me, but DS had a bite and thought it tasted like soap! :scared1: So there’s two very different opinions for you to consider. The cherries were a little on the tart side, which contrasted nicely with the cake, which was very rich and very sweet.
Rating: 9/10

Everything about this meal was fabulous! From the service to the atmosphere to the food, it was top notch. We left happy and satisfied and Le Cellier is on the top of our “must return” list for next time!

When we walked out of the restaurant, we discovered that Illuminations had started.

http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9899/lcilluminations1tg6.jpg
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/6127/lcilluminations2uy5.jpg

Overall Rating: 9 ½ /10 (I took off half a point for Neil’s disappointing appetizer.)
Service receives a solid A. Our server was helpful, informative and checked many times to make sure we were happy.

Coming in the next installment: Columbia Harbor House and Boma!

I agree--what kind of camera do you have?? I recently bought a Pentax DSLR and am still learning how to use it. I would love to know more about your Illuminations picture. (And I'm really enjoying your dining info, too!)

Thank you both! I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-W80. We have an old Canon Powershot S20 that still works well and takes decent pictures, but it's pretty large and I don't tend to use it very often. I love the Sony!! It's small, easy to use, has a much larger screen and longer battery life than the Canon. It also has setting for taking pictures in low light, in very bright settings, landscape, at the beach, portraits with soft focus background and movie mode. I have a lot of fun with it! :thumbsup2 After I download the pics to my computer, I use Paint Shop Pro to adjust brightness/contrast, sharpness and lighting if necessary.

Day 10: Columbia Harbor House & Boma

Today was our last full day :sad1: so we wanted to make the most of it. We asked the kids what they wanted to do and they both really wanted to go back to the Magic Kingdom. We left bright and early and made it in time for park opening. We walked in and rode all our faves multiple times (including two more visits to Mickey’s Philharmagic. :rolleyes1)

When it was time for lunch, the vote was unanimous for Columbia Harbor House. DH and DS chose the same meal as their previous visit and DD went with the Anchors Aweigh sandwich. Since I’ve already reviewed and posted pictures of these meals, I won’t bother repeating myself. Suffice it to say that everyone enjoyed their selections as much as the first time around. ;)

I felt like something a little lighter, so I chose the Garden Galley Salad - mixed greens with chicken, pecans, pineapple and feta cheese.

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/929/chhsaladjb2.jpg

This salad was delicious! Very light and refreshing and the different flavors and textures complemented each other beautifully. I had the apple crisp (blossom? crustata?) for dessert once again (my fave CS dessert) and chocolate milk.

My whole family gives CHH 9/10. It’s a terrific CS choice in the Magic Kingdom. The food is always fresh and tasty and you can usually find a quiet place to sit upstairs. We love it! :thumbsup2

After lunch, we played in the park until mid-afternoon and then returned to our resort to freshen up and get ready for our 5:40 ADR at Boma.

We arrived at the AKL at 5:00 and took a look around this beautiful resort. It has a very relaxed and welcoming feel as well as being stunning in it’s design. I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures.

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/9081/akllobbytl6.jpg

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/4521/akllobbyartworkzq5.jpg

We checked in at Boma at 5:25 and were seated within 10 minutes. This was a restaurant I was really looking forward to trying since so many people have raved about it. It didn’t disappoint.

After we were seated, we immediately grabbed a plate and helped ourselves.

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/8020/bomacsaladni6.jpg

This was my salad plate, it contains: (Starting with the watermelon and going clockwise) African Fruit Fool, Watermelon Rind Salad, Lefke, Jacama Apple Salad, 3 different types of hummus (sundried tomato, white bean & olive), Grapefruit, Papaya & Avocado Salad and chunks of cantaloupe.

Mmmmm!! They really shine in the salad department! I loved everything on this plate except for the watermelon rind salad. It was ok, but it had an odd, spicy taste that I couldn’t decide if I liked or not. It’s certainly unique.

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7024/bomacarolda3.jpg

Shown on this plate: (clockwise starting with mac & cheese,) Grilled Vegetables, Bobotie, Couscous, Yellow Rice with Raisins, Potatoes with Afritude, Durban Spiced Roasted Chicken, Prime Rib, Rigatoni with Meatballs and sauce. In the bowl is Butternut Squash soup.

I loved the vegetables, rice, chicken, prime rib and the rigatoni. The mac and cheese was surprisingly tasteless. It looked wonderful, but didn’t live up to its promise. The couscous and bobotie were ok, but not especially memorable. The potatoes were potatoes, they were mildly spiced, but pretty middle-of-the-road. Not bad, but not great either. That butternut squash soup was to die for!!! It tasted like liquid pumpkin pie; I’d never tasted anything quite like it. I’ve had butternut squash soup before, but this was amazing! If you like pumpkin pie, don’t miss it!!

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7394/bomafrankpn2.jpg

This was DH’s second plate, starting from the prime rib and moving clockwise, it contains: Grilled Vegetables, Chicken Tenders, Durban Spiced Roasted Chicken and French Fries.

Surprisingly, Frank really enjoyed Boma, despite the fact that some of the choices were definitely outside his comfort zone. I think the fact that this is a buffet makes it easier for picky eaters to be a little daring, since they know they can always fall back on old stand-bys if they don’t like something. He did try some new things, like Bobotie, the Jacama apple salad and the African Fool. He enjoyed the salad selections but didn’t like the bobotie. Big surprise, huh? :rotfl2:

DD & DS went up many times and tried different selections as well. They both really liked the chicken, rigatoni, potatoes with afritude, the salads and Cheryl loved the butternut squash soup. She also tried the Chicken Corn Porridge but didn’t enjoy it at all.

I went back to get some more hummus (I could have made a meal out of that alone!) My favourites were the white bean and the olive. I also got some of the Crab soup (on the left) as well as the Chicken Corn Porridge to try.
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/4318/bomahummussoupske3.jpg

I enjoyed the chicken but hated the crab soup!! It tasted like they’d used an entire container of salt in it. :scared: YUCK!!

On to the dessert table!

We each had to try those famous zebra domes. The general consensus? They’re good, but they don’t quite live up to all the hype.

DD had watermelon, strawberries, a chocolate chip cookie and a zebra dome.

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8489/bomachdessertvp4.jpg

DS had a melk tarte (I think that’s what it was called), a chocolate chip cookie, and 3 zebra domes (one and a half had already been devoured.)

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/4480/bomandessertst0.jpg

http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/1811/bomandessertag7.jpg

DH and I shared (clockwise): zebra domes, flourless chocolate cake, coconut cake, fruit & custard tart and an oatmeal raisin cookie.

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/9198/bomacdessertno3.jpg

Neil also went back to the salad bar for more fruit.

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3075/bomafruitjp7.jpg

Just before we started dessert, one of the chefs came over to say hi and to ask if we were enjoying ourselves and our vacation. To my delight, I saw that it was TJ! I told him how happy I was to meet him and that he was quite famous on many of the Disney forums. He’s a very nice man and spent a few minutes chatting with us. When we were almost finished dessert, TJ came back to our table with this …

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/7577/bomafriedoreospr3.jpg

Those are battered, deep-fried Oreos and were they ever good!! We were so stuffed, but we found room for these. YUMMY!!

But that’s not all …

Not 5 minutes later TJ was back.

http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/6076/dayaw2.jpg

He’d noticed DD’s birthday button and came back with this lovely surprise. Cheryl said those little heart-shaped cookies were incredibly, decadently good. The little chocolate goodies are rich, fudge brownies with chocolate dipped strawberry slices on top and drizzled with white chocolate. Cheryl ate the cookies and we all had a taste of the brownies. They were heavenly! I thought TJ was so sweet to do this, he certainly made us feel special with the Oreos, but then he really outdid himself by doing something for Cheryl’s birthday and making her evening extra-special. It was a wonderful way to end our dining experiences!

Overall, we give Boma a rating of 8 ½ /10 and TJ 11/10!

Service receives a B+. Service was good, our waitress kept our drinks refilled and was very prompt at clearing dirty dishes.

In the next installment: A wrap-up and final thoughts.

On the day we checked out, we had 5 Snack Credits and 3 Counter Service credits left, and we traded DD’s unused TS credit from Le Cellier for a CS credit. When you do this during free dining, they will give you your CS meal and your choice of either 2 snack credits or a special lanyard and collectible pin. We’re not into pin collecting, so we chose the snack credits and stocked up on munchies for the drive home. We used our CS credits for breakfast:

DS had the King Creole Breakfast Platter, Orange Juice and Chocolate Milk

When you use a counter service credit for breakfast, you get 2 beverages since you don’t get dessert.

Overall, we had a wonderful Disney dining experience! This was our second time using the DP but the first time we’ve been able to take advantage of it for free. It was a terrific bargain, but I don’t think we’ll be going back at this time of year again since we found the weather to be very hot and oppressive, especially DD. We love going to the world when it’s all decorated for Christmas, so I think we’ll plan on either November or December 2008 for another return trip. I can’t say for sure whether we’ll do the dining plan again since I’ll have to crunch the numbers and see if it will still be beneficial for our family when they change it. I’m also going to be very interested to hear what others think about it after it’s been implemented.

ADR’s are extremely important!! I can’t stress that enough. We saw so many unhappy people being turned away from the table service restaurants. Even Nine Dragons, which doesn’t seem to be as popular, was booked solid the night we were there. We also noticed signs posted at park entrances informing guests that no table service venues were available for walk-ups and suggesting counter service alternatives. I know it’s difficult to figure out what you want to eat months in advance, but unfortunately it’s a fact of Disney life that you need those ADR’s, especially if there’s a particular restaurant you want to try. So book ‘em Dan-o! ;)

Here’s a closing summary:

A must-return for our next trip:
Le Cellier
Raglan Road
Kona Café
Nine Dragons
Liberty Tree Tavern (a first night tradition!)
Columbia Harbor House
Wolfgang Puck Express

Worth another visit sometime:
Spoodles
Boma
Tony’s Town Square
Earl of Sandwich
Sunshine Seasons

Maybe return someday, but not for a while:
Rose & Crown
Pecos Bill’s

Never again:
Sci-Fi Dine-In (although I would go just for dessert and to enjoy the atmosphere, it really is a lot of fun!)

We also loved the food at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, but since I’d like to try either AKL or WL on our next trip, I haven’t included it on the list.

Thanks to everyone who’s been reading and offering support and encouragement, I really appreciate the feedback! I hope you’ve found it helpful and I wish you all wonderful vacations and great eating in our favourite place! pixiedust:

I somehow missed Kona and the first CHH installment. Kona looks incredible!! We didn't book it for our upcoming trip but I'm definitely going to keep it in mind for the future. (It was probably the last one to get cut from our current list.)

CHH - we ate there last year. (I tell this story all the time and it's not even that exciting.) I never order tuna when I'm out because it's just something I can make easily at home. But, we were at MK our last full day of our trip last year and I started coming down with a cold. We got hungry but being sick, I didn't have a taste for anything. We went to CHH and normally I would have gotten either the fish & chips or the combo platter. But the only thing that looked remotely appealing with my sore throat was the tuna...OMG!! It was so good. I'm almost glad that I was sick or I never would have tried it.

BOMA: Can't wait to eat there. Hubby was a bit hesitant when I said that it's African, but he agreed to try it after I told him about some of the reviews here. We were just talking about it again last night and I mentioned it being a buffet so it's easier to try many different things and now he's looking forward to it. Well...the fact that it's at AKL doesn't hurt either. Looks like there are plenty of good choices. Thankfully, he's not a picky eater so he's willing to try most things.

Thanks for the great reviews and pictures!!!

What a wonderful report, so detailed and the pics are perfect. Couple of questions for you if you don't mind?

1. Was Spoodles really that good (have an ADR for it but was thinking of changing to Nine Dragons).

2. We're going next month to celebrate my 30 birthday, do you tell the CM's when you booked your ADR's that it was DD's birthday or just when you arrived at the restaurants?

Thanks :goodvibes

Thank you all for the wonderful comments and for taking the time to post them, it really means a lot to me to know you found my reviews helpful. I had a wonderful time writing the report as it allowed me to relive our vacation and keep that wonderful Disney magic going for a while longer. pixiedust: So sorry I've been MIA lately, I've been unbelievably busy at work for the past few weeks. Going away is wonderful, but there's always a price to be paid when you return. ;)

Tracy, I informed Disney dining that we were celebrating my daughter's 19th birthday when I made the ADR's and it was noted on all our reservations.

Spoodles was delicious! We all really enjoyed it (except for my non-adventurous hubby) and would go back in a heartbeat. If I had to choose between Spoodles and Nine Dragons, it would definitely be a difficult decision. I would likely pick Nine Dragons, but simply to make everyone (including DH) happy. Spoodles certainly had a much better dessert selection, if that's important to you. Nine Dragons had delicious appetizers and entrees, but their desserts were pitiful. I hope you have a wonderful experience wherever you decide to go!
