aw, goodfellow! i really enjoyed san angelo during our two stints there. we were only there for a year total, 6 months back in '04 & another 6 months just ending this past march but i really did enjoy it. i love the small town atmosphere & all the friendly people. sure it is in the "middle of nowhere" but you pretty much have all you need there.

we are currently stationed at patrick afb located just south of cocoa beach, fl. it's great living 45 minutes away from disney world!

How do you ladies in Japan like it? Yokosuka is potentially on my list, Okinawa, not so much...too much like Hawaii from what I hear. (which I LOVE Hawaii but want something different).

We went to Hawaii in Jan and I would much rather be in Hawaii than here in Okinawa. Don't get me wrong it isn't the worst place but it is very expensive here and I miss the travel opportunities that we had in Germany. I will say the Japanese are very nice and I am sure that when we leave in 2009 that we will have fond memories.

I assume that since Yokosuka is on your potential list that your a Navy family? I like living here but I wish we would have chosen to come here for shore duty. Having your spouse on a forward deployed ship means they are always gone. There is so much to see and do and Tokyo Disneyland is fairly close:cool1:

Yes, we are Navy. He's on seaduty now and is forward deployed here so I know how sucky that is, lol. He's gone now, lol. I think Japan would be seaduty as well and he'd go back to a ship because he owes 2 more years of seaduty after being here.

Now I am jealous. I would love to be so close to WDW. We had orders for GA, but they were cancelled. Gotta ask, do you miss our Tex-Mex? I was away 7 years and now that I am back I eat enchiladas all the time, because once I leave, who knows when I will get to eat them again.

We love Abilene! It has a small town feel, but still has just about one of every kind of store/restaurant you would want. Not tons of selection, but enough. We moved here 2 years ago from Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX, and it was a HUGE move up! We're happy to be in Texas (we're big no income tax fans)! Do you enjoy San Angelo? My sister-in-law was stationed there last year for language school and liked it okay. We visited once and it seemed pretty nice. Have a great weekend!

San Angelo is my home town. It's nice. It was hard getting use to after the DC area. So much to do there, but like Abilene, almost has everything you need just on a smaller scale. Funny, I lived in Del Rio for two years when I was young. Didn't care for it much and haven't been back since I was 13.

Hope you had a great weekend!

very much so! i haven't had ANY good mexican since i left. there is a fab burrito joint down the road, but it sure isn't real mexican food. i'll be dreaming of enchiladas & quesadillas tonight! ;)

I can honestly say this is the ONLY duty station I have ever HATED.. and yet I am about to become the Ombudsman.

it took almost six months before his Clearance came through.. which was started BEFORE he left NPS. it takes an average of 30 days before we get an answer one way or another about leave chits, and they are losing about 8 people in the next four months..all senior O4s..and the one person they have coming ....is an O2...

I miss Sea Duty and I am offering bribes to the person in charge of assigning bodies to fill IA billets.

Career wise, it's great for him. as far as everything else.. well DC is nice.. The Zoo in particular is a favorite haunt.....But I miss the West Coast.....:sad1:

We are stationed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and working directly with Canadian Forces. Our closest U.S. base is Ft. Drum and I breathe a sigh of contentment everytime we cross the border into Ogdensburg, NY. Moved from Hawaii to here, so it has been "interesting".

My new DH is stationed at Little Rock AFB, in Arkansas...I have been a military brat and military wife my entire life...Sad I know:rolleyes:

But what can i say...for some reason those military guys just wouldn't stop chasing me...so I married another one!:rotfl:

Atleast this one makes his own decisions and still manages to take care of me...:cloud9:

I am originally from Little Rock AFB...but I have lived all over...currently praying for orders in 2009 when the DH re-enlists :rolleyes1 :scared:
