I would love to, but I havent been in the past year so that counts me out.

09-08-2007, 03:55 PM
I did!

It was hard keeping the three questions down to just 100 words..... and of course I thought of better things to write after I submitted my questions!

I would love if someone from the DIS boards is one of the 12 chosen!

Good Luck everyone!

I did, even though I am a Disney Dad... the rules did not say I had to be a mom, just act like one.

I hope that one of the Disers are selected. There are so many wonderful resources here of both genders that could really do some good for helping people seeking guidance in their WDW planning.

I just entered! I would love to win. I have seen some other people post rules that I cannot find but I still am hopeful! My Dh thnks I ama Disney freak and I am ! I ahve been twice in the past year and will be going three times in the next year, unless I win this, then it will be four times! My friends just realized how Disney obsessed I am when they saw my Mickey house key. LOL!!

I entered.... and I think I should have been more creative. I think there will be a lot the same-- "I love Disney"-- and you have to stand out, which is hard to do in three 100-word answers. Also I haven't been to WDW nearly as much as some. But I tried to make the case that was a good thing!

I told DDs about the contest and one of them said, "I wish we could write in and tell them to pick you. We could write, we always have the most fun and we know where to go and what to do. Other people are waiting in line or they don't know things, and we always know because we have you!" If I don't win, at least I got her praise and gratitude!

It is not too late to enter - entries can be submitted until 10/5/07. I just read about it on the DIS today - here is the link to the article which also tells you how to get to the Disney site to enter: Walt Disney World Resort is Looking for a Few Good Moms (http://www.wdwinfo.com/news/article_001832.htm)

Off to read the questions and think of some creative answers! :surfweb:

Absolutely!!! :yay: The 100 word limit was tough but if I was the one reading the entries--I would be thankful for the limit! Good luck to all who entered. I truly believe a disser will have to make their panel!!

I'm in! Well, I will be, once I register and answer the questions. Who better than a DIS'er, right?

For those who have already entered, what are the questions? And 100 word limit? My dh is ROTFL already!

Ellester
09-09-2007, 07:08 PM
Just entered my answers.

The questions are:

In 100 words or less, tell us a little about you.

In 100 words or less, tell us about your family.

In 100 words or less, tell us why you should bean advisor on all ther is to see and do at WDW resort.

Tough to do in so little space, but I gave it my best shot!

I would want to go with the angle being a large family and all, but I am way too busy as it is.

If anyone gets accepted, be sure to post. :)

I applied my angle was being a large family (4 children 8 and under) that has went once a year for the past 5 years I have helped 6 families plan their trips this year alone because I am such a Disney freak!

dijid
09-10-2007, 11:37 AM
I will probably apply, but I must admit I'm disappointed that the trip for the winners is for "you and 3 guests" and not a trip for your family. I'm sure many people applying - like me - will have more than 4 in their family and will have to either not go or shell out extra $$$ to take the whole family along.

I entered, but for some reason I had to get rid of a few words in each question even though the little counter on the bottom said I had less than 100. Anyone else have that happen? It would be great it one or more of us got a slot!

I don't understand about the 3 guests either, why not immediate family? Also, I hope that those who are selected have access to the Disney's formal policies on topics. This would really help with some of the confusion about things.

That happened to me too. I am an English teacher and had planned it all out. I was not happy to have to combine words into contractions (ex. I am = I'm). I teach my students not to use contractions in their writing and I had to just to make it fit. Oh, what we do for the love of Disney!!!

I think the DIS should be really well represented in the entries! There is this list, then another list that I am also on in the Community Board. Everytime I need advice I come here, or AllEars.net so the "Moms" around here really know their stuff, and this is from a former Cast Member, YOU ALL ROCK With Your Disney Info!

I think that it is for both - they seem to have planned the training time for then and invited you to bring your three guests who get to park hop while you are learning the :surfweb: . You can bet that there will be some photo ops scheduled too for the moms with and without their guests.

Well I am enjoying this thread and laughing.:lmao:

I received an email from the Disney Insider and saw it advertised there, so I signed up. When my husband got home I said, "Honey your never going to guess what I did today!" He said, "What?" I showed him my print out response of the three questions. He said, "Looks like you wrote a job application, good job!" He thought it was amusing.

BTW for the two posters who mentioned the big family angle...I used it!:lmao: I tried to be nonchalant in my about family and the seven kids that are nineteen to nine months.:rotfl2: But in all truth, planning for that varied age group was challenging. But where I did get my help from!? The dis boards of course!:grouphug: This is the goldmine!!!:thumbsup2

Good Luck to all!:cool1:

I applied too.

I agree it pays to be original as already a lot of the same themes have been mentioned by several posters.

However, it was incredibly difficult to be original in the 100 word limit for each of the 3 questions!!!

Did anyone actually mention the Disboards in their answer? I didn't, but just wondering...

I mentioned how I gave someone WDW advice in a job interview. I also had in about DD spotting a hidden mickey on our patio, but had to cut it when the page kept insisting I had too many words!

I mentioned "Unofficial Disney boards." I didn't know if saying Disboards was good or not.

We have reached our maximum capacity of 10,000 applications. Therefore, our application period has concluded at this time. Your interest in the panel is very important to us. Please come back in January and meet the panelists, ask your questions and learn how to get the most from your vacation!
Thanks for visiting!

I'm so glad I got it in on time. I've been working on my app all week, just didn't hit submit! I can't believe they filled up weeks before they expected! I just wonder how they are going to enforce the 8 posts a week thing. They are awarding the trip before the work needs done, so what if someone takes the trip and then doesn't do anything? I wonder if everyone who responded even knows about the 8 posts or just did it for the trip.

I applied because as a parent of 2 daughters that have spina bifida and use wheelchairs I'm hoping that they pick a parent that will be able to answer and offer advice to those people needing help planning a vacation with someone that has a disability.

On the downside I wonder how much the form 1099 is going to show that will be issed to the winners.

Form that Disney will submit to the IRS declairing it's taxable amount that you will have to claim on your taxes as income or prize winnings for the free trip.

She told me she figured it would cost $3500 for her family of 5! (one infant). I'm like...no way. So I'm breaking down all the aspects of her trip. It depends on which resort they are staying at and which one you are staying at. Also it looks like you child is an infant from the picture so right there you are saving the price of a ticket and meals.

Yeah, they want it to be cheapest...so values are fine with them, as long as they travel when the 3rd is still an infant. My DD pic is actually 2 years old! I just won 2nd place at a photo comp 2 weeks ago with that pic so I added it.

How did everyone answer the questions? I guess I'm starting to 2nd guess myself! hahah! I wanted to go for 'different' and strayed from the noem. I just felt they would be reading thousands that all started out with:

I'm 27...mom of 3...name is Michelle...kind of thing, so I made each of the 3 questions into a story. I felt I wanted something different, to stand out amongst all the apps. but now i'm not sure.

amyhughes
09-17-2007, 01:52 PM
I included previous work with Disney as a Cast Member, the number of trips, the conversion of my DH from Disney loather to lover. The importance of family and that is what vacations are about when you have kids. My work as a writer and using my last trip to write for my magazine about taking two toddlers to WDW.

I am doing this all by memory by the way and have slept since then!

DisneyMommyMichelle
09-17-2007, 01:56 PM
I included all that too, but I made it sounds different! hahah! I don't know. I too was a former cast member, then I wrote about being there during all teh seasons, staying at all level resorts, being there during a hurricane, planning grand gatherings for 75, being married there, going with 1 infant, then 2 toddlers and then going pregnant and going with grandparents....I can't think of what else I included. I saved it to WORD, where i fooled around with it a bit, but I can't find the file now!! grr..

I put mine in at 5:00am Friday morning, just before I left for the airport and WDW. Soooo glad I decided to do that!

I wrote mine trying to be somewhat creative while also covering all the bases about my family. I used a Jeff Foxworthy approach, "If your daughter's kindergarten teacher ends your parent-teacher conference after 5 minutes so that she can ask you about WDW, you might be a Disney World Mom!" I don't know if it will win me anything, but it sure was fun writing everything down and re-living all the memories!
