Installment No. 1 Who, When, Where and What??

It all began innocently enough. One weekend afternoon at least 8 months ago we (the cast of vacationers will be introduced more fully later) were chatting about our next Disneyworld trip. We typically go at least once every 15 months. We decided that the beginning of October seemed like a good time. The Polynesian was decided on as our Disneyworld resort hotel. There really isn’t much debate about this inasmuch as my nephew Gordie refuses to stay at any other resort. He is a bonafide Poly Snob! Although last trip we did talk him into staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Of course, enjoyed the trip (none of us in our group could ever NOT enjoy a Disneyworld trip) but was not enthused about being off the monorail line. ANYway, we were all set.

Road Block#1: My partner Amy. God knows I love her with all of my heart, but she decides she can’t go because she will be taking more college courses during the fall semester. Uuuhhh…excuse ME? I said we are going to Disneyworld and you are worried about the fall semester? Gosh, your priorities seem a little off kilter. :)

Road Block#2: Our travel agent asks us if our dates are flexible. Hmmmm…why would she ask such a thing? She explains that Disney will most likely be offering free dining in September. Guess what family? We are going to Disneyworld the end of September. 9/22 through 9/29 to be exact! Free dining…what could be wrong with that?

ME: “Joni, Did you say 9/22?” WHAT am I going to do? :scared1:

JONI “Yes, hunny…why something wrong?”

ME: “That is Yom Kippur. It is only the most important holy day in the Jewish year.
I should be in Temple all day and I have to fast!”

JONI: “Oh…that’s not good!”

After much debate and discussion, I decided to go. I can at least attend the evening services on 9/21. I can pray on the plane and during our transfer to the Poly. I can fast even though I am in Disneyworld. At least, I can try! I spoke with our Rabbi and confessed my dilemma. I am going with a clean conscience. G-d and I are BFFs (best friends forever) anyway.

As for road block #1, Amy didn’t end up taking classes this semester because we are trying to get pregnant. I know THAT sounds crazy. But college and hmmm…how should I say this?….it needs to be appropriate for the trip reports board…..well, the stork supplies are expensive and paying for both this fall was out of the question. The stork supplies won. Alas, after several tries we are not pregnant….patience…patience….I definitely am learning a lesson about patience! So, I believe no more explanation is needed…..Amy couldn’t resist. She decided she HAD to go, too! But, being the complicated woman that she is she wanted to stay a few nights ALONE with just little old me. As she said, this is our last trip without kids and it might be nice to have some alone time. As I said before, G-d knows I love her but can’t she just go with the flow! I hate to resort hop…I know this is blasphemy to some…if you enjoy-please do it, but I don’t so I try not to. But, I do love her and it was kind of sweet SOOO we will be spending some alone time at the Pop Century.

So, all is set…..hold on to your hats…..we will be attacking the World of Disney soon!

Installment No. 2: The Cast of Crazy Vacationers

Uncle Rob-or GoofyRob pirate: Whichever you prefer! He is our great benefactor! The most generous man I have ever known. This is my second Disneyworld trip that is being paid entirely by him. I am forever indebted to the Uncle! Long Live the Uncle! He is quite possibly a bigger WDW fan than I am. All he has to do is hear the first few notes from Illuminations and his eyes glaze over and he dreams of magical times at the World.

Aunt Joni-or Auntie Toonces :ccat: Whichever you prefer! She is married to the great benefactor which, of course, makes her a co-benefactor. She is tons of fun and loves to laugh, but hates parades and Tower of Terror. Parade-haters-I just don’t get them, but I love her. SOOOooo we don’t do that many parades. Tower of Terror-that is another story…I think we may have to get her on it this trip-one way or another! :scared1:

Me-TinkerChelle :tinker: or just Chelle! Bonafide Disney Snob (may I borrow this term AG Princess?...I hope you don’t think I am plagiarizing it) who loves all things Disneyworld! I have a Tinkerbell shirt for each day of our trip. I DO love my Pal Mickey who will be accompanying me everyday. I ride all the rides…I sing all the songs…I listen to Radio Disney. I think you get the picture! I have even been known to shed a tear or two (okay…we all know I shed a lot more than a few!) when entering MK or viewing WISHES (which is always sung out loud—never spoken!) or during a plethora of other DisneyWorld activities. My family believes that at times I am a smidgen over zealous. I know all the lyrics and choreography of the Main Street Dancers “Clang..Clang..went the Trolley” medley and I am not afraid to participate during the show!

Amy-:earsboy: The one who owns the key to my heart! She is the original Disney enthusiast. When we met 8 years ago, neither I nor my family had ever been to DisneyWorld. Shocking, I know! :rotfl: She introduced us to the MAGIC of Disney and I am eternally grateful to her for this….and many other things she has brought into my life! She wasn’t able to get the whole week off work; therefore, she will be arriving on Sunday afternoon and leaving on Thursday afternoon. She will be staying at the Pop Century.

Gordie-or Gordon or :tigger: Tigger Tail. Actually he hasn’t been called Tigger Tail since he was about 5 but for a while that was the only name he would answer to. He is now 13 and the apple of my eye. Well, he has always been the apple of my eye…I love him madly! I, of course, can no longer tell him this or hug or kiss him….he is 13 and I am such an embarrassment except in Disneyworld! :cool2: We are two peas in a pod during our trips and each trip we have shared together has been filled with special moments and I am sure this trip will be no different. He is a creature of habit and ONLY stays at the Poly…..or so we thought. When he found out Amy would be staying at the Pop Century so she and I could have a little bit of down time together in the Magical World of Disney, guess who thought staying at the Pop might be fun after all? :rolleyes1 You guessed it! So, much to my amusement he will be staying with us there some of the time. Amy actually doesn't mind AT ALL....she adores him, too!

We will be leaving in two weeks time…:cool1: …do we have everything we need?

Installment No. 3 What about MNSSHP?

After we decided to move our vacation up to the end of September for free dining, we were worried about MNSSHP, but we realized that they usually have a few parties at the end of September. So, we are attending MNSSHP on 9/28 which is our last night of vacation.

The next discussion centered on costumes. So, the Great Costume Debate was under way!

I wanted to be a princess or Tinkerbell (like I was for the last MNSSHP I attended!) or something Girly. I like to be girly! princess: How about Snow White? I would be Snow and everyone else could be a dwarf. The Aunt and Uncle although amused did not want to be dwarves. What about Alice in Wonderland? I could be Alice and everyone else could be someone else….the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, etc. No Go! :confused3 What about the Fab Five? I could be Minnie! Nope! Okay, I give up!!!!

The Costume Debate lasted a few weeks. Finally, it was decided that Gordie would be Mickey Mouse and the rest of us would be Mouseketeers.

Now look before I get flamed, I love Mouseketeers. I know people often dress up as Mouseketeers and I think it is a great idea. BUT, I don’t get to wear a girly outfit, dress, or a tiara???? WHAT!!???

Alright….I can be a team player. I see the necessity of the costumes being able to travel well in a suitcase and no one wants to be encumbered at the park in a big hot costume. But, I kept thinking there has to be a way I can girly this up a bit…isn’t there? SADDLE SHOES!!! Found some cheap unused saddle shoes on the internet and bought a pair for myself and for Auntie Toonces. It took a little convincing, but I told her we HAD to match. My next fab find for our costumes were Capri-short jeans rolled at the knees. How 50’s is that??!!! I found a pair for both the Auntie and I, of course, the Uncle is NOT wearing these. The Uncle is not going to play this TinkerChelle game. He is out! Although he will be donning the Mickey ears and the Mickey Mouse Club t-shirt with name tag. That’s OK! We still love him. :flower3: I will be "Annettee" and Auntie will be "Darlene." The Uncle is "Jimmie." We will all be following our little Mickey who is sure to want to lead the way through the trick or treating! :mickeybar

Next Installment: Should I really be packing already? :lmao:

Installment No. 4: Should I really be packing already?:lmao:

My confession: I have OPD. Please don't laugh. It is true. Obsessive Packing Disorder. It is very sad. :sad1:

Our trip is just a week away and I have been packed (well almost packed) for weeks. Again the family, especially Amy, believes me to be a bit obsessive. This time I packed everything in bags and hid them in the closet.;) This way I feel like I am packed (sort of) but the suitcases have not appeared..yet! She doesn't even realize the packing is done. :rotfl:

The other pre-trip issue that Amy and I disagree about, is spending money on clothes before we leave for the trip. I don't quite see the dilemma. I need new outfits for the trip. How is this hard to understand? TinkerChelle needs Tinkerbell shirts for the trip. Tinkerbell stuff is very easy to find these days. I have a ton of choices! I couldn't resist. A new Tinkerbell shirt for each day!:woohoo: Good times.

I also hit the Walgreens pretty hard before we leave for a trip. My list is just your usual needs: wet wipes, shout wipes, band-aids, travel size toiletries, etc. Amy insists on teasing me about this.

Amy: "Why do you need to bring all this stuff? Do you really want to schlep this all around the world for a week?"

Me: "Yes! I like to be prepared!"

Amy: "Okay...Girl Scout!"

She LOVES to tease me. BUT, here is the rub. Guess who always needs a wet wipe or a tissue? That is right! The TEASER! And I always get the last laugh!:cool1:

So, I have my lists written: What needs to be bought. What needs to be packed. What needs to be checked. What needs to be done. I even have a list to keep track of all my lists.

AHHHHH....and the magical itinerary! In fact, I think I will work on that some more now.

More later: The official packing kicks in today! And the Magical Plan (the ITINERARY) revealed!
