This is my first trip report so I hope it is interesting. My husband thinks it is too lengthy.

February 16 - 23, 2001

Characters:

Me: Trip planner, Disney enthusiast
Paul: DH, Also a hopeless Disney enthusiast
Ben: Son 17 years old
Chris: Son Turned 14 on February 26.

When we got to the Airport for our PanAm 11:00 am flight to Sanford, Florida we were very disappointed to find out that it was postponed until 4:00 pm. Fortunately we had a car so we decided to go downtown Portsmouth and look in the shops. After shopping in Portsmouth for a while we found a mall to walk around. We had lunch at the foodcourt at the mall. We called PanAm to find out if the flight was still scheduled to leave at 4:00. It had been changed to 5:00, so we didn't head back to the Airport until about 3:30. We finally took off at 5:10. We were disappointed because we knew that we would miss e-night at the Magic Kingdom. We arrived in Sanford at 8:05 pm. Paul went to get the rental car (at Alamo where they had lost our reservations) and the kids and I got the luggage. We checked into Port Orleans at 10 pm. We brought our luggage to our room in Building 1, 3rd floor and didn't even unpack. We went right down to the boat to Downtown Disney. We were all hungry for dinner by this time. We ate dinner at McDonalds and got the last boat at 11:30 back to Port Orleans. We unpacked and all went to bed! It was a long day and we were looking forward to Animal Kingdom tomorrow. We were disappointedd that we were not starting our trip at the Magic Kingdom, but Saturdays are always so packed at MK.

Dixiemansions - The 16th was not the day of the icestorm. It was a beautiful, clear day. Have a great trip to Dixie Landings. We also liked it there.

I can sympathize with you late arrival to WDW. On our first trip back in '96, our flight was delayed due to a severe thunderstorm and we arrived several hours later than planned, just in time for a quick dinner and then bed instead of being able to spend the evening in the parks.
