I really like seeing all the Christmas photos from Disney....We were lucky to spend Christmas/New Years in WDW a few years back when our kids were younger and they loved it....I am hoping to do it again soon before all of them are all married and no longer home.....Thanks for all the great pictures....

These pictures are incredible!! DH and I booked a Christmas trip to WDW earlier this year but had to cancel it when I got our vacation calendar (I'm a teacher) and found that it didn't coordinate with when we wanted to go. I was so bummed, but DH said we can try again next Christmas! :goodvibes At least I can pretend I'm there with these delightful pics!!

38 or so more days till we return from WDW (I hate saying that!!!!), but at that time I'll have a HECK of a lot more Holiday photos. Got a new camera and a number of new lenses. I'm well armed for Photographing the HECK out of WDW and its holiday decorations!!!

Thanks! It can only be done before they tape the parade. They move it after they are finished taping. I took this one night and when I went to get a daylight shot, they had moved the tree!

I had to crouch down and got more than a few weird looks but it was worth it!

One quick question...Are the characters in their Christmas outfits during the day too or just at the MVMCP? It looks like in a couple piscs from Epcot and AK that they were out with the holiday costumes on. I hope so! We are going to MVMCP anyway, but it would be nice to get some daytime pics of them too.

You can find them around the parks in holiday atire. I saw Goofy at AK in his Santa outfit. At Donald's Breakfast in AK Mickey wore a different sweater along with a Santa hat & Pluto had on some Jingle Bells. The parade's at AK and MGM change to Holiday Theme parades with the floats and characters (most anyway) decked out in holiday decor. I've seen pics of Minnie around EPCOT in a Mrs. Claus outfit. So they are around, you just have to be on the lookout for them.

It really is a great time of year to visit Disney. They do a wonderful job. Be sure to venture out to the different hotels to see their tree's and holiday decoration. Especially the Grand Floridian, Boardwalk, & Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'm sure the others are great too, but those come to mind right away.

I was just wondering if they had christmas characters at the entrance of the Osborne Lights at MGM Studios. My last December trip was in 2003 and the lights were cancelled on that year. Then I need to go back to 1996 and that is when we met a snowman at the Osbourne lights display. During that same trip we also met a reindeer at the display. Just wondering if that's still happening!

Also, a little :offtopic: but I was wondering if the Osborne lights would go on during the extra magic hours (evening) at MGM?? Anyone knows? thanks.

We were there last year and did not see any characters at the entrance to Osborne Lights. We went twice - once during EMH and another time. The lights are definitely still on during EMH and I think that's the better time to see them. Not as crowded. When we went during the regular park closing time, it was packed because that's what everyone was trying to do before the park was closing. During EMH, it was definitely more leisurely - people coming and going at different times.

The day time verison of this has been posted already. You need to get down almost on the ground to get the perspective. Then wait for a moment until no one's walking in front of you. But timing is everything. After the parade taping, the tree will move to the top of Main Street, and the photo op is gone until November 2008. :santa:

Oh my goodness, these pictures are fantastic! I LOVE the castle this year with all the lights, I sure hope they do that again next year. We are going to have our first Christmas at WDW next year and I just can't wait!

What kind of camera is needed to get such amazing photos like this? I have a compact Canon SD 360 which is nice, but there's no way I could take pictures like this at nighttime, let alone with the same clarity.

What kind of camera is needed to get such amazing photos like this? I have a compact Canon SD 360 which is nice, but there's no way I could take pictures like this at nighttime, let alone with the same clarity.

Not that my night pictures are that great or anything (pg. 29), but I used my Nikon D50. It takes great pictures during the day, and decent ones at night. Sometimes I use the auto setting, and sometimes I use the nighttime setting-I think the flash comes on with both. At night you just have to be very still or they will turn out blurry (my middle castle pic is pretty blurry).

Do they do the icicle lights on the castle every year??? They are gorgeous!!! We'd like to make it to WDW in Dec '09 for all the Christmas decor. I've had enough of seeing pictures and wishing it were me. :)


They just started the icicle lights last year. They do a show every night when it gets dark to light the castle, it's so pretty!:lovestruc

yes, we purchased the cd and we were able to edit all of our pics , then they sent us the cd and the rights to print them ourselves

Thanks, I would if I could. DD left it at Champps and it never showed up. But, I can tell you I went to Best Buy about 10 miles from WDW and bought they current mid size Cannon (Dec 2007) for about $440.
