I wanted to post some photos of my Tags so far to make sure I am going about this the right.

Piglet Do you like the Classic Piglet stickers? I really loved them.

I really like these so far, but these Goofy Tags I am not sure. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please let me know. I don't have an extra tag so I don't have as much room to play around. What do you think of the ribbons?

Goofy Back

What do you think of the green cardstock? Would you like Orange Cardstock added? Would you like to see chalks or more stickers? Is there anywhere to find a funny Goofy quote?

I don't want anyone to be disappointed with my tags. I also would love to see anyone else's tags.

Holy cow! They are super cute!! Thanks so much for sharing them. Simple, elegant. Perfect! I'll show you mine ( :rotfl: ) a bit later. I'm downstairs and my stuff is upstairs.

Also, I think I'd use orange for Goofy. I don't know why. I love the ribbons. The orange would match the ribbons. Just my opinion though.

ETA: Could you use GAWRSH for Goofy's tag? Is that even how it is spelled??

AlexWyattMommy
09-05-2007, 02:15 PM
I think the chalks give it a finished and softer look. For the Goofy tag, some chalk would be good. "GAWRSH!" is the quote that the Mickey'n'Friends Cart gives him.

I understand the orange because his vest is orange. His pants are green and so is his hat. I was trying to pull the colors from his sticker.

Should I use orange chalk or green chalk? I am glad you like the ribbon. I found it in the Halloween section at Archivers. In the photo the green photo mat on the back of the tag isn't stuck down.

I can add GAWRSH with some more of the same stickers I used for his name.

Also, Peter Pan will come with some "bonus" stickers You can add to your own tags. The stickers sets came with some stickers of him but he only fit vertically on the tag. So if you want to use him you can.

Those are very cool. And I agree Gawrsh for Goofy would be perfect. As for chalk I'm not sure, maybe orange.

PO3...the tag book is just that a book made out of only tags...
In this swap Faerie had each swapper make 2 tags..
Now, in the zoo tag book swap I had each swapper make a tag.. decorated the front w/ the animal of choice.. than on the back we all made either a journal box, a flip journal box, an accordian journal box, a envelope w/ accordian like folded box... all the various journal box areas on the back could be used to add extra photos or just do special journalling.. check out the Zoo return thread... group I is three section of the tag book.. I photographed the front and then the backs of each tag... clear as mud? I'm going to make some more this winter for special occassions... Holiday traditions for each of my kids... especially for Christmas... We have some things we do every year... I want to work on a Halloween one this year... since I only have one that trick/treats and the others hold the fort down at home! :)

Good Morning~!

Thank you to everyone who complimented my tags and and offered suggestions. :grouphug:

Here are some photos of the finished products.
I am sending the stickers and a brad. I am learning about all these new techniques like brads and chalks. I didn't put the brad on because then you could see the back of it on the front of the tag. Of course you can hide it with one of the stickers and I thought perhaps you would like to be able to arrange everything yourself. I hope I am making sense here :lmao:

I added chalk to the Peter Pan
Peter Pan Front.

I also added some chalk to Piglet

Back

And finally Goofy. I couldn't find a good color of chalks. I do have a green but I am not certain I like the effect. It is very bright!
Here they are so far.

I've seen really big O key rings, carabiner clips, ribbon and the chain like from dog tags.

I really like the effect you got with chalks. They look great.

I love what you've done so far. I'm a newbie when it comes to chalks. Am trying to figure out how to do brass stencil dry embossing...I have cindy, pooh, mickey but haven't figured out how to embellish or chalk the images after I've embossed them - they somehow don't look right. Anyone got any tips on what to do with dry embossed images? If I can't get it right I may have to use stencilling paste but it's so messy...ugh....

AlexWyattMommy

Q-tips. Lots of Q-tips. I use them with the dry chalk & wet chalk/inks on my dry embossed items.

I use cats eye chalks. They are like small inkpads. I just dab it on around the edges of the paper.

I finished my cindy tags yesterday - they took a long time! I'll try and post photos later..but I basically brass stencilled/embossed cindy, chalked and then painted with iridescent paint. Then I punched a castle, chalked edges and painted again with the iridescent paint. Attached a small piece of ribbon. Chalked edges of tag. I don't think the photo looks great but they look good when looking at them in person.
http://s187.photobucket.com/albums/x173/happypooh_01/?action=view&current=DSCF7650.jpg Then on the other side I embossed another image of cindy and painted it and attached some jeweled flowers and made a small flap to open so you can journal inside since it would be hard to journal on top of the embossed image. Chalked edges.

http://s187.photobucket.com/albums/x173/happypooh_01/?action=view&current=DSCF7653.jpg
The second tag was alot simpler - I printed on to vellum and attached with brads, added some fiber. On the other side I embossed a dress and attached by another jeweled brad so that you can "open" or lift the dress out of the way to journal beneath it or behind it. (oh dear that sounds bad to be journalling under Cindy's dress!) Added a small sticker to the corner.

Thanks everyone - I really was having a hard time trying to figure out how to chalk but I think it turned out better than I thought it would! I'd love to heat emboss but I seem to have misplaced my heat tool and it takes too much trouble to stand in front of my stove! But I love the look of heat embossing! Can't wait to see the other Cindy!

Just a suggestion, but to any and all Secret Sisters in the tag swap; making extras of your tags for your sister who may be either not in your group or not in the swap would make awesome gifts to send with the last package. (Don't want to do it sooner or your sister will know who you are. :rotfl: ) Not that I'm begging or anything. :dogdance:

First is Mickey for Mickey and Friends Group I.

Second is Ariel for Princesses Group G. Ariel's shell opens and reveals the Little Mermaid. And on the back of that tag, the card pulls out from the left side of the mat for photos and/or journaling.

ah but if you thought 1/2 the day was Thursday then you should be 1/2 way done with your Thursday list right??? ;)

OK 1 more time, if I have to say do your homework one more time he's going to bed without said homework done. ERGH!!! He can tell his teachers why it's not done!

Yeah, but 1/2 of Wed. wasn't finished!!! I did a lot of it last night..so today will be better than it should have been!!!! :)

So, do tell.. did he finish his homework or is he busted at school?

Or bus keeps coming earlier and earlier in the morning even though she called and told me it would 7:05 since school starts @ 7:30 so she has enough time.. This week she has been 7AM all week... if this continues, I'm just going to drive them to school because that is NUTZ!

When I was in high school we started at 7:25. Most high schools start between 7:20 and 7:40 here. Elementary is 7:45 to 8:15 and middle school 8:30-9.

PrincessNancy96
09-20-2007, 10:53 AM
Our elementaries start 7:30-7:45... our middle school/high school start at 8:33 yes at 8:33... I had to check that twice!

My high school didn't start til 8:20...but we were at school by 7:30AM for the social hour.. We walked the halls, sit in the halls, and FRIDAY was very important for a meeting in the cafeteria for class yells!!!! Our class won from Freshman year up because we had all the big mouths! I wonder if schools anywhere still do that??

AlexWyattMommy
09-20-2007, 11:55 AM
Ele is 9:00 to 3:30, Mid is 7:40 to 2:20, and High is 7:35 to 2:23.

Nothing in the handbook for Mid or High about yelling for classes.

PrincessNancy96
09-20-2007, 12:09 PM
I don't think it was a big promotion.. I think it just started happening and it was well contained and the kids did it for fun, no fighting or arguing.. just seeing which class had the most spirit!!

It was always fun to see if the super sophomores could spell it right..
S-U- PER, Super, Super Sophomores!
However, it usually ended up.. S-UP-PER Super, Super Sophomore! Uh, hello, not the right spelling..
Let's see how did they go...
SEN-IOR Senior! Senior! Senior!
JUN-IOR Junior! Junior! Junior!
Now our school we called the freshman "Greenies" because they were new..
but I can't think how the chant went, darn it!

It was even better during homecoming week!!! Especially when the freshman class my Junior year mis-spelled Lion.. They spelled Loin and no one caught it not even their teacher advisor! I think that was on their spelling list the remainder of the year!

Finally done...here are some pics..
first Mulan: cut at 2 inches on my cricut - hard work!
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x173/happypooh_01/DSCF7695.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x173/happypooh_01/DSCF7696.jpg
Nemo: I tried to copy nemo onto the transparency but it didn't work well as he was too see thru and Darla showed right thru him so instead I copied him onto cardstock and then cut him out and used glossy accents to make him shiny. Then I pasted him on top of the transparency and that looked more like the fishtank look I was wanting to go for!
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x173/happypooh_01/DSCF7717.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x173/happypooh_01/DSCF7718.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x173/happypooh_01/DSCF7720.jpg
Pooh: I embossed him with a brass stencil but he still didn't look right even after I put chalk on him so I used that glossy accents again to try and make him more shiny and to seal the chalk as it seemed to be moving. I really wanted to use a fuzzy bee but it really was too big and fat for the tag and would make your book way way too thick. I have cut a small opening for the smaller tag in the back of the second tag so that you can put things in there too as well as decorate the small tag yourself with a photo or something.

Mickey: cut on the cricut (I so love my bug!)

I am sooo happy that I get one of the Darla/Seagull ones. It does look just like she is looking into the tank were Nemo is.

Your other tags look great too. I bet doing Mulan was tedious work. You know we appreciate the effort because we understand.

Thanks, I'm going to post Tigger's other tag in a minute but I broke the rules. I had drew the bouncy lines. Hope that's ok!

Off to snap a pic.

AlexWyattMommy

You can draw the lines. I don't think that is breaking the rules. Using an ink pen to print out Tigger, that would breaking the rules. But if you used the cricut to cut out Tigger and then used a sparkly pen to outline the letters, I think that would within the rules.

the "expression"? Is it a cartridge-if so for what machine?

TPCShauna
02-03-2008, 10:25 PM
The Cricut Expression is the larger of the two Cricut machines. It cuts up to 12"x24". It takes all of the same cartridges as the baby bug.

Several ladies on here have them so you could probably post on the Scrapbooking board if you have questions.

Hi everyone! Great tags, so creative. I have a question. I can see how to do the main tag and that part, but what are y'all using to do the accordian part of the tag for the journaling?? I don't think I have that on one of my carts, but you never know. I'm constantly finding new stuff on there!

Oh, and voluntold, that is a perfect word. My stepmother voluntolds me all the time. (and I'm 35. How does this keep happening?? :rotfl: )

I just cut the paper the size I needed and then used my corner rounder to round the corners.

OK - first question here...http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee62/rhonda6699/smiley_mornincoffee.gifbear with me I'm still not awake

It looks like there are "middles" to the tags - an accordion type fold out - so the front of the tag and the back of the tag are like book covers?

So I wouldn't be cutting out one piece of cardstock and embellishing the front AND the back of this one piece, but rather two pieces of cardstock.

Am I making any sense? I think I need more caffienehttp://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee62/rhonda6699/smiley_drinkcoffee.gif

1 tag, decorate front and back. there will be 2 tags per set.

The white part of my accordions (or the flip and fold) are scored and folded and the bottom is adhered the the tag. The top of the accordion is either cut from the same paper as the tag or a coordinating color.

layers:
1 tag
2 accordion
3 cover from accordion
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i125/BernardandMissBianca/DSC_0002-8.jpg

flip and fold layers:
1 tag (same tag as the one above, just the other side)
2 flip
3 cover

AlexWyattMommy

Think of the tag as your base. You put the other pieces on your base.

With the "accordian",it is a piece of paper. Folded two or three times depending upon the beginning length. Most fold two times giving you three surfaces. So you a big Z. put the bottom to the tag. Glue another piece of cardstock to the top of the Z. accordian.

Does that help?

BernardandMissBianca
03-07-2008, 01:48 PM
that sounds way better! LOL

TinkerBean
03-07-2008, 02:55 PM
Ok so - 2 tags make 1 right? with the z in the middle...embellish both.

Now they can be z folds or flips right?

I know I am dense - no wait - a dork:goodvibes

You don't need the second tag. You can just use a rectangular piece of cardstock for the top of the accordian.

The flip top flaps are easier to make. I like those better myself. Let me take some photos of mine to show you. My are obviously not part of the tag.

As you can see, it is folded over.

I like the flip ups flaps better too. I like the accordion ones and did a bunch of those but you have to have something hold them down or they get floppy.
