.....so, I'm a longtime Disboards member, but I've never really frequented the WISH board. However, I did start my own weight loss journey in December 2005 after being diagnosed with diabetes. I don't take insulin, but I do take a daily pill, and, after a "wake up" call of sorts, I lost 90 lbs with healthier eating and daily exercise. It took about 12 months. The bad news is I still have about 60 or so to go, and I hit a wall in January of this year. I just haven't been as diligent with my diet, and it's stalled my weight loss.

I joined the Biggest Loser Competition here today, and I'm pumped about the future. Although it's not clear which team I'm on yet (blue or black), I am dedicated to both my team and myself to get the scale moving again.

I have a club-quality elliptical, and I am committeed to 30-45 minutes daily. And, although I sadly said goodbye to my favorite food, pizza, today (not a permanent goodbye, but we won't be seeing each other as often for a while), I am working on the portion control and healthier choices side of this equation.

I plan to make frequent stops here at my journal, and I welcome any and all encouragement, stories, advise, constructive feedback, etc. Heck, we're all in this together, right?

trampslady,

Thanks for dropping by my journal. It is a work in progress and I am a work in progress. I was diagnosed with type II diabetes in February 2004. Since then I have gained and lost the same 25 pounds about three times. This time I will continue the journey. My nurse practitioner has been really patient with me. Last visit in June she told me to lose 12 pounds by my next visit in October. I would like to be 40 pounds down by then and I KNOW I CAN DO IT.

Have you checked the Biggest Loser TEAMS thread lately? I see you on the black team. Good luck with the competition. We can all be THE BIGGEST LOSER together. The world needs more losers like us.

dare2dream--I just got off the elliptical (and watching the biggest loser), and I see that the list has now been updated, and I'm on the black team. I'm really pumped about this competition. I think it's the inspiration I need to put things back in perspective.

I look forward to watching your progress, too! Feel free to stay in touch! It's wonderful to have positive support on this journey!

Off to a good start today. I had cottage cheese and fresh strawberries for breakfast, a small portion of watermelon for a mid-morning snack, and ham, cheese, and strawberries for lunch. I'm working hard to watch my carb intake again--as a diabetic and someone wanting to lose the pounds, it seems to work best for me. I got 40 minutes in on the elliptical last night, and I'm planning a nice veggie stirfry for dinner along with another round on the elliptical.

I'm feeling the focus again, and that's always been the key for me...a real mindset.

Ended up at chinese restaurant for dinner, but no splurges at all. And, after 40 minutes on the elliptical I'm feeling good about today....one day at a time....

Today is a mixed bag. I had cottage cheese for breakfast, and I'm drinking lots o' water. However, we took a coworker to lunch for his birthday, so I wasn't as good at lunch as had planned. I had mexican and, although I selected a meal that did not include rice and beans (limiting my carbs), I still had cheesy enchiladas and a taco........will do 50 minutes on elliptical (10 minute penalty for mexican--ha!) and veggie stirfry for dinner.

I DID IT! It was hard, but I completed 50 minutes on the ol' elliptical....700 calories GONE!

I am loving sparkpeople.com as it really does have a great calorie tracking system, and I need that as i learn portion control with the weight loss. I'm pumped about this new amenity I've added to my plan.

I had weird breakfast-craving salt. I had pork skins and watermelon Weird, but only 250 calories, so, hey, do whatcha gotta do.

Lunch is behind me. Everyone else at table gorged on bread basket--I had NONE! I had a super-filling southwestern cobb salad with avocado and chicken...no croutons either!

BBQ on the menu for dinner...no bread and no sugary baked beans! Sticking to meat, 1/2 baked potato or pinto beans, depending on my mood. Back to the elliptical for 40 minutes tonight.

one piece of toast with cheese for breakfast. We went out for lunch...pizza....could have made better choice, but only ate two slices with crust. Having goulash for dinner, and another 40 minutes on the elliptical. I've lost 5 lbs this week!

trampslady

Cornbread and 1 % milk for breakfast--not the healthiest, but it's what I wanted. I'll get my 40 minutes in on the elliptical this evening. Having family over for dinner, planning on grilled chicken breast, fresh grilled corn on the cob, and 1/2 a baked potato.

Dinner went well. I did have about 1/2 cup of homemade ice cream made with heavy cream, but sweetened with splenda. Just finished my 40 minutes on the elliptical, so that's 570 calories gone!

Off to neverland and on to another successful week.

It's Monday, and it's raining. Yuck!

I am having watermelon and salami for breakfast. My hip is really bothering me this morning, so I may have to cut back on my elliptical duty tonight. Don't wanna, but I have major back issues, and I can't afford to let the sciatica start bothering me. We will see.

Lunch was a grilled chicken salad, and it's "that time of the month." I was dying for chocolate. I went to review our cabinet and opted for the Heath bar--220 calories and 24 carbs--it was the lesser of all evils. Completely worth it...soothed a serious craving.

That leaves me around 600 calories for dinner. Goulash on the menu, so I should be okay. Hoping to tackle the elliptical, but will definitely do a 20 minute walk here at work, too. Okay, got in the 20 minute walk, did a few curls with the hand weights, and I'm doing 20 minutes on the elliptical.

Leg is still hurting, but maybe the less intense workout will help.

Cornbread and milk this morning. I slept well, and my leg and hip did not bother me; however, the ol' hip is hurting this morning. I plan on a salad or salmon and green beans for lunch. Dinner will be hectic, but planning on breakfast tacos........I will log 20 minutes of walking today, and another 30 minutes on the elliptical.

I maintained a 5lb weight loss this week...updating ticker is gonna feel good!

Went with grilled chicken salad for lunch. I indulged in a 100 calorie hostess cupcake pack..yummo! I had a baked sweet potato with one pat of butter and a grilled ham steak for dinner. I got a 40 minute elliptical workout in as I had to forego the second walk at work. All in all a GREAT day! I'm feeling stronger and back in control of my daily eating!

This morning it back to salami and watermelon. I'm having lunch with a friend at Red Lobster today. I'm thinking either steamed crab legs and a side of broccoli, or a broiled fish of some kind with the salad and broccoli. Either way I will ask that the biscuits not arrive. My friend had gastric bypass so he won't mind.

Lunch was good--grilled salmon with shrimp, tons o' broccoli and a side salad...NO BREAD! And, the bread basket even ended up on the table because another (bread eating!!) friend went. I can tell my will is back, and that feels better than anything. It's not that I won't have "bad" food from time to time--if I want it I will have it, but it has to be "worth" it now. No eating just because it's in front of me!

20 minute walk in and a 40 minute elliptical jaunt. We went out for japanese. I had shrimp tempura and gyoza. I logged 1750 calories today--200 over my goal, but I'm burning over 700, so still pretty good!

I had watermelon and two strips of bacon for breakfast and a grilled chicken salad for lunch. I am having stirfry for dinner, and I will get 40 minutes in on the elliptical.

Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Cereal and skim milk for breakfast. I'm having a nice homemade veggie soup for lunch along with some raspberries and cool whip. Dinner will be a 4 oz filet and pinto beans. I plan to get a 20 minute walk and a 40 minute elliptical ride in today. I'm down one more pound, so time to change the ticker!

Good think I got that 20 minute walk in as I had homemade mac and cheese for dinner along with my steak and a few beans. I'm still within my calorie count....just gotta sweat it off on the elliptical now.

Wow trampslady you sure are on fire! :cool1: Congrats on the weight loss and you are doing an awesome job. Keep it up and you'll lose all the weight in no time. One thing i thought i'd tell you is that my mom told me not to eat fruits in the morning on an empty stomach because you'll consume the sugar very fast. But fruits sure are yummy! Keep up the awesome work!

Lunch--french dip sandwich and a handful of sun chips

Will get in the 20 minute walk and 40 minute elliptical workout today for sure. Dinner is a mystery right now.......

Last night ended on a nacho sorta note....chicken nachos to be exact......not the best choice, but better than my preferred bean, meat, guacamole, sour cream extravaganza. I got all the exercise in, and it looks like in only clocked about 500 extra calories. With the 700 or so calories burned, I'm okay for not gaining, but I need to make the exercise work for me.

Breakfast this morning was Kashi GoLean cereal. Today will be light because we are going out for dinner to a brazilian restaurant--lots o' meat. I usually do okay there carb-wise. And, I generally start the meal with a nice salad. I think I'll stick to fruit for lunch today to keep the calories in check before dinner. I'll be certain to get that 20 minute walk and 40 minute elliptical ride in, too.

I'm down another pound or so...looks like about a 7 pound loss in the last 2-3 weeks. I'm not gonna change the ticker again until our next Biggest Loser weigh in next Tuesday.

Whew! The back-to-back weekend parties are finally over. I think I survived. I missed my regular workout yesterday, but I ran around enough getting every thing ready and then entertained until 3am--think I got a different kind of workout. I'm back on the elliptical tonight. I know I went way over on my calories today and maybe yesterday too. I know the exercise is keeping that in check, but I'm hoping for more normal weekends in the coming weeks and bigger weekly losses!

Life may be getting back to normal now that hubby is back to work (knee surgery) and the mega parties are over at my house. I had a nectarine and a Nature's Valley Roasted Nut Crunch Bar for breakfast. My lunch plans include a wonderful honeycrisp apple (yeah for fall!) and some lean salami (got lebanon bologna this week...like salami but pretty lean).

Lunch changed, but it was still good! I had a baked sweet potato with a pat of butter and 1/2 cup mushrooms. Yummy!

Got the walk and elliptical in. Dinner was grilled turkey tenderloin, steamed broccoli, sauteed mushrooms, and multigrain rice with bulgur wheat.

THREE MORE POUNDS GONE! Yeah! Weigh in for the BL contest was this morning, and I was thrilled to see three more pounds gone on the scale. I know that I can do this, and I'm so glad to be "back in the saddle" with regard to the decisions that I make each day. I know I can get the final weight off!

Breakfast--raisin bran
Lunch--chicken and broccoli with brown rice and hot and sour soup....overall healthy meal, but probably more calories than I should have........will try to alter dinner a bit to compensate....

Well, dinner pretty much hit rock bottom. Our schedule got all out of whack, and I'm afraid my precious kitty may have ingested a rather long (12+ inches) rubber band. In all the scurry, we ended up ordering pizza, and I swear I devoured a whole pizza.

I did get a 20 minute walk in, and I did 55 minutes on the elliptical. I burned 920 calories, but I took in WAY, WAY too many. Tomorrow is another day, and I will totally cleanse tomorrow.

Today started with a Kashi breakfast bar. I had a baked sweet potato and steamed summer squash for lunch. Dinner was grilled chicken, mushroom, and tomatoes over a cup of pasta.

I got my walk and elliptical work out in.......feel very good about today.....

trampslady
09-27-2007, 04:14 PM
Today included an apples and four crackers for breakfast. I had a chicken salad for lunch and avoided the bread basket! Dinner is chinese out--will be sensible.

I missed my 2pm walk, but I will get the elliptical ride in...

So, the weekend was a mess as my precious kitty was ill. I didn't journal at all, but I wasn't too bad in my eating either. I did get on the elliptical last night and this morning.

I made pumpkin bread with Splenda and had two slices yesterday--probably more than I needed, but my other meals were okay.

Today started with 20 minutes on elliptical (since I was home waiting to take kitty back to vet). I had two slices of Sara Lee Delightfully Wheat toast with butter. Lunch is coming soon.

Lunch was bunless burger with bacon and a small handful of french fries. Dinner was a bowl of pinto beans, ham, and one slice of cornbread.

Got a 20 minute walk in and another 20 minutes on the elliptical.

trampslady
10-02-2007, 12:18 PM
Breakfast was two slices of sara lee delightful wheat bread, natual peanut butter. I had elotes and two fajita tacos (no cheese, sour cream, etc) with corn tortillas. My calorie count is too high with only 600 calories or so for dinner. I did not have a weight loss this week, but I'm not getting down about that.....I did all that I was supposed to....just keep chugging along.

Will get my 20 minute walk and 40 minutes on the elliptical today....

trampslady

Whew......well, last night didn't go as expected. We took my grandmother out for dinner, her choice, before her shoulder replacement surgery today. We ended up with mexican, and I didn't fare well with nachos.

Today started well with two slices toast and peanut butter, but then I was informed of an unexpected all-day conference off sight. That resulted in bad lunch choices (well, the only choice was chicken-fried steak, which the catered in). I'm afraid I was simply awful.

I did get my exercise in though....tomorrow is a new day...

trampslady
10-05-2007, 06:17 AM
yesterday was okay---but I didn't get my exercise in.......grandma came home from hospital, hubby hurt his shoulder at work, mom was exhausted from taking care of grandma.....I worked 12 hours....exhausted.....

I started today with two slices of wheat toast. I think lunch will be elotes and two pastor tacos. Dinner is looking like breakfast as I joined the Boudin Bread of the Month Club and my sourdough gets delivered today.....that means sourdough toast, eggs, and ham. Yum!

I will get my exercise in today!!!

trampslady
10-07-2007, 02:13 PM
It's Sunday. Saturday was okay, but I didn't exercise--back issues, and I ended up having late night pizza..bad Theresa......

I started today with toast and cantaloupe. We are having hamburgers tonight. I made four loaves of pumpkin bread for hubby and I to take to work. I will have a burger with regular bread for my "bun." I will have minimal chips and a 1/2 piece of pumpkin bread.

I will elliptical for 40 minutes tonight.

trampslady
10-08-2007, 01:12 PM
I'm not doing so well. I need a pep talk from myself. Today has been like an intentional sabotage of my progress. I've had everything I can bad for me, and I didn't exercise last night.

I've got to find my groove again. I think I lost motivation last week when the scale didn't move, and now I'm afraid it will be moving in the wrong direction. I know it takes 3500 calories to equal a pound lost or a pound gained, but I swear I can LOOK at 3500 calories and gain that pound. It's not so easy to get it off.

I might as well put it on "paper." I had a Whataburger chicken sandwich with fries for breakfast. I had a cookie, and a taco salad (not a very healthy one) for lunch. The worst of it is I have to go home and cook enchiladas for the family tonight. Granted, I do use 50 percent Cabot cheddar, and I also use turkey chili. That said, I'm way out of bounds today.

I am headed home in an hour, and I will get on the elliptical as soon as I walk in the door. That 40 minutes will help, but what helps most is when my mind is in gear for eating right.

I'll pray hard on this, and if anyone else is happening to read this post, your prayers and pixie dust are also appreciated!!

Dinner was actually a beef fajita chimichanga out to eat, but I did get the 40 minutes in on the elliptical.

I'm up two pounds...grrr.....I'm going to add strength training to my regimine starting this week, and I'm hoping to see some results from that. I had one rather large slice of Boudin sourdough toast with butter and cinnamon this morning. Lunch will be salad...watermelon for snacking.....

I had a baby bel cheese and watermelon for a snack, and then lunch was a turkey cobb salad. Unfortunately, I don't have the nutritional info on the salad, but I cut the egg and left most of the croutons in the bowl. I did add sun-dried tomato and capers.

Dinner was a ham steak, small sweet potato, and green beans. I logged a total of 45 minutes on the elliptical. Today was good.

trampslady
10-10-2007, 05:38 AM
Started this morning with the last of my sourdough toast....didn't feel as filling this morning, but I'm okay. Lunch is up in the air with three different commitments.....

Words cannot express how much MIdancemom's words meant to me today. I really needed a little optimism, and there my angel was! THANK YOU , THANK YOU, THANK YOU.....

Lunch was an ear of fresh corn and a chicken taco in a corn tortilla--just chicken and cilantro--no cheese, sour cream, etc.

Dinner was salmon croquettes, green beans, and carrots. My calorie intake was 1600 today, and I've walked 25 minutes, logged 40 minutes on the elliptical, and I also worked with weights for about 20 minutes.......

Wednesday was good.

 We all have days when we can't hold it together. I have had a few this week as well. The important thing is that we stop at one or two days. You did that. Congratulations. Don't worry too much about the scale. It will come with time. I know, easy to say, hard to do. Just remember you won't see an immediate loss when you start the strength training, but the long term benifits are awesome.

Good luck with lunch.

Take care,
Beth

Today was okay. I had a balanced breakfast and watermelon for lunch. I intended to make spaghetti for dinner, but ended up at the local chinese joint instead. I had broccoli, three pieces of fried chicken (intended for sweet & sour but without it), 1/2 cup rice, zucchini, crab legs, and boiled shrimp. I'm at about 1800 calories today--too many, but considering we had a pizza buffet and drinks for lunch, and I did not indulge, I'm okay with today.

I walked 30 minutes, and I have 40 minutes logged on the elliptical.

The weekend got away from me. I got my workout in on Friday night, and the back pain subsided.

Saturday wasn't so great. It was my off day for exercise, but I did get an upper body strength training round in.

Food--ick......I had two cheese enchiladas for lunch and catfish for dinner. We stayed up too late, and the next thing I knew I was gobbling down a chicken sandwich at midnight..

Today, Sunday, has been better. I had a ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast and popcorn for lunch. I had chicken cutlet with mushroom sauce and a small portion of mashed potatoes for dinner. I did endulge in a small slice of reduced sugar chocolate cake.

I was on the elliptical for a collective total of 40 minutes and I got another upper body strength training round in.

Started this morning with a quick 10 minute power walk. I was horrible for breakfast--jack in the box tacos...but only 400 calories...lunch is a honeycrisp apple and a babybel cheese, so collectively not so bad. Dinner is left over chicken gumbo with brown rice.

I hope to get a 30 minute walk and 30-40 minutes on the elliptical in.....
I got a 10 minute powerwalk in today, 30 minutes walk with a friend, and 40 minutes on the elliptical.

Wow......you go to WDW and the holiday season starts, and the next thing I know, I've abandoned everything good for me!

Well, I'm back at it. I haven't been near as diligent with my eating or exercise of late. We've been so busy traveling, which I certainly won't complain about, but I apparenlty have a hard time putting myself back in gear when I return.

But, as with this crazy thing called life, I'm taking it all a moment at a time, and this moment I'm winding down after a reasonable spaghetti dinner and 20 minutes on the elliptical. Lunch was a salad, and breakfast was cereal, with a string cheese snack.

Today.......smart one for breakfast along with a piece of toast.....apple and green chile soup for lunch...dinner will be meatloaf, sweet potato and eggplant casserole.
