I don't have the school calendar for 2008, but this year is Nov. 8 & 9. So, based on that next year should be Nov. 6 & 7. There are only two days, Thursday and Friday, which we have teacher's convention and there is no school.

Oh good. I heard Jersey week is pretty crowded, but we leave for our cruise on the 6th, so no worries :)

Were planning on going nov.26 through the 7th of december 2008.We haven't decided where we are staying yet.It all depends on what discounts come out.I pretty sure there isn't going to be a discount for thanksgiving day or that wkend it seemd every year those days are blocked out.As of now the value resorts are 109$ so that isn't to bad. It seems that november of 2008 is to far away. We can keep each other company for the next yr.

Thinking of the Saturday before Thanksgiving through perhaps the Saturday after. The plane tickets will be the toughest part to get a bargain on I think!

Most say the earlier you book the better rates you'll get. I know for me, I booked our land/sea in May 2007, and the rates have already gone up. Obviously, look for any specials you can find through AAA, or in the mail offers or on different websites. I don't think I'm allowed to list the websites here, but I can PM you if you want! :)

Add me to the list for the week after Thanksgiving 2008. We booked bounceback for next September, but my husband is finally in a field where we can take off around holidays, so we are thinking leaving on Wednesday after Turkey Day and coming home that following Sunday so the kids only miss three days of school instead of five. Too much for DD this year in 4th grade to miss five days.
My logic is this- I continue to pay for September and keep an eye out for November deals and if none materialize we stick with September free dining.
I can't imagine there are any good codes out for next year for a while.

Before I had to cancel my package for this November, a code came out that gave a discount. ZQI or something like that, I believe, can't remember off the top of my head but I know that it saved me $500 almost off of my package. We were booked originally to stay at POR. Our dates were for the weekend after thanksgiving and it fell within the time of the code.

I joined the Nov. 07 codewatch about this time last year. It seemed so far ahead, and now it is 7 days until my Thanksgiving trip!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: The codes saved me $339 for 3 (me, ds10, dd8) at a value resort (had to switch from Pop to Sports), for 6 nights and the dining plan. I found out about the codes from the thread early the morning they came out, before any other announcements were made. I could have booked a moderate for $3 more than a value at original price, but went with the savings instead.
I'm hoping to take another trip next Thanksgiving with my sister and nephew. I'm hoping the codes are as good!

We did the same calculations, and found that the DDP would COST us about $100 when I calculated what restaurants I was planning on eating at. I'm hoping that if any code comes out it's for a reduction of the room rate because the DDP just holds no interest to me (although I guess if it were free that would be a different story because there would be a significant savings at that point  ). Oh well, we can only wait and watch.

I booked with the dining plan. I'm not too happy about the changes but once we are there I would rather have most of the dining paid for. 2 of my 3 kids going with us are big eaters and can out eat me, so its worth it to me. I don't know if its saving us anything, but easier for us.

It'll vary...there's a few things to keep in mind during that period.
1) Halloween
2) The soap weekend was about that time this year
3) NJ schools are out usually the first Thu and Fri of November...thus Disney's "Jersey Week", which picks the crowds up.

Being that the basic DDP is only $37 and some change for each person/each day, it will still save money to use it. Heck, one meal is counter service and you don't tip there anyway. Without the DDP, I can't feed a family of 6, each person, each day for that money. Plus I don't want to have to think that hard on vacation. :rotfl: I'll use it for the ease and I believe it's saving me money.

My post was right above yours. With the package w/ dining codes I saved $339 for a 6 night trip with 1 adult 2 kids on a value. The moderate price was like $2 more than the values. I debated moving up to a moderate, but took the refund instead. The deluxe rates were good, but I don't have any numbers for you.

We are also planning on going that week. Hope it's not going to be too crowded! Anyone have any experience with Jersey Week?
We went this year during "Jersey Week" and did not have any problems at all. In fact there seemed to be alot of people walking around sometimes but the wait times for rides weren't too bad. The only big wait times were at Epcot which I believe they always have big wait times. So I say dont worry about it and have a good time!

Being from Jersey, we've been down a number of times during Jersey Week and it's not too bad. Epcot does get crowded because you also have the Food and Wine Festival and then DTD has the Festival of Masters ( I think that's wat the call it. We usualy try to do all of the parks early in the week and when it gets a little busier later in the week we go to the water park or just adjust our schedules around the crowds.
Since this year we are going down in December I'm hoping there might be a bounceback available for November.

DH and myself are planning to be in WDW 11/30/08-12/05/08. We were supposed to go THIS past November, however I somehow managed to get mono, and just wasn't up for it. Now of course, I feel much better and wish we would have gone! :rolleyes1 Anyway, I haven't made any reservations yet...but am thinking about renting DVC points to stay at OKW or BWV. If that doesn't work I suppose I'll wait around until the Disney Visa deals are announced...which will be a long wait. In the meantime, I guess I should find a part time job. :lmao:

I am also trying to plan a trip in November for my husband and two boys - none of which have been before. I went several times growing up, but always stayed offsite. I would love to stay on-site, and would love to hear input not only on codes, but suggestion on where to stay. I know the deluxe look great, but don't know that I want to spend that kind of money when you are not in the room that much.

We have always stayed at the economy resorts. I love them. Right for the money and very nicely themed. My family is planning to go November 8-15 next year and stay at the All Star Movies. This time we'll get 2 rooms since the DD's are bringing their boyfriends. The boyfriends get their own room. :thumbsup2
I can't imagine not staying on site. Especially since we have teenagers that may want to stay out later or go to DTD on a night that DH & I want to turn in early. The bus system is easy to navigate although not always the quickest way to get to the park.
Read through the boards and you'll find a pound of information and get to know some very sweet people. :hippie:

ball4fun, we've stayed at AllStar Sports both of our trips. Ds10 loves it and doesn't want to stay anywhere else. They are updating all the rooms.
We got to stay in a "new" room in Nov, and it was really nice.
I let ds10 choose the hotel for our first trip in July 06, since he turned 9 that week. He fell in love with Sports from the pictures. For our Thanksgiving 07 trip, I let dd8 choose and booked Pop. When the codes came out I could only use them at Sports, but had no problem with switching.

It will be two years by this point (not counting the one day Dh and I went down for my birthday in Sept).
So far I'm thinking Nov 21-27 but that may be shortened if no good codes come out.
Anyone had any experience checking out ON Thanksgiving day? Do I avoid most of the crowd? Bad thing is I get to join the hordes on the road that day and its a 6 hour trip home. :sad2:

changed our minds! LOL I think we're doing a short trip this year and a long trip in 2009...and now looking at checking Wed Nov 12 and checking out Sun Nov 16 or Mon Nov 17. :woohoo:
3 or 4 full days in the parks should be enough to give us our Disney Fix. Then we'll play a 9-10 day trip in 2009 when our middle child should be 48 inches and the youngest 36 inches. That trip we'll add on Universal for one day, and possibly go during a time the water parks would make sense. ;)
NOW, I need a code for November. When do they typically come out?

OK, I have a question.
If by some small miracle a code comes out for November like this past year, will it be applied to my entire trip as long as I check in before the last day it is available??
Last year it excluded Thanksgiving week & the last day to use it was the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving, if by some chance the dates are the same & I check in on that last day the code is valid, will it be applied to my entire length of stay??
TIA.
onelugnut
01-07-2008, 03:43 PM
yes it will be applied but i think there is a time before your trip that you must get the code in before.
I helped someone last year and they got it in on the last possible day.
now i have a question, does anyone remember the exact dates allowable for
last years code?
meaning. I think they are blocking out the "Jersey week" this year.
but if i have my first day of my vacation in the week that isnt blocked out,
then i still get the code rate even if the other 5 days are during the blocked out week right?
does anyone understand me?
and when do we expect novembers code to come out again?
usually not until august right?

No fee, and you can make changes. I booked in Dec. 2006 for our Thanksgiving 2007 trip. When the codes came out I had to change from Pop to Sports, but there was no fee involved. I saved over $300 with the code, so switching to Sports was a no brainer for me!

I checked in the Friday before Thanksgiving, and left Thanksgiving day. The first person I talked to (the morning the codes came out after about 45 minutes on the phone) said I couldn't use it. I called back the next morning and was allowed to use it with no problem. The lesson here is don't give up! Keep calling for awhile and you never know what you will get!

i am trying to understand when the blackouts effect your bill.
as they are saying for the tday trips.
if their trip started before the blackout, ie, their check-IN day is not in the blackout period, then they still get to use the code.
am i right on that?
like in my example, if the code is good from 10-1 to 10-30, and 11-9 to 11-22
ergo,
it behooves me to leave a few days earlier and arrive on 10-30 to get the code rate for my whole vacation
right?

Remember that WDW changed their policies this year! Before, you got the rate of your check in date for the whole trip. Now you are charged day by day. So I'm not sure if the codes will be applied differently this year. Yes, I was able to do that during Thanksgiving of 07. I have no idea if you can do it in 08!

I think last year when they applied the code, you were charged day by day. The only reason I think that is because many people said that the cost went up have applying the discount and IIRC they were checking in on the last day of value.
Does anyone know if these codes have ever included the cabins at FW? If we go this year (keeping fingers crossed), my parents have expressed a great interest in going and the cabin would be perfect for us.

Since many people have been asking about last years code.
A code offered last year (I saw it on a very well known discount code site, that I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say the name)...
I don't know blackout dates. I know I priced it for both after Columbus Day in October and for the second week of December and the amount was the same.
This is what it included:
2 Adults
7 night stay at Pop Century
5 day base MYW tickets
The total was somewhere around $750 and some change.

(dates 2-8 not included)

As far as codes go.... there are a whole lot of other threads where people are asking questions and explaining them. I'm sure they would be helpful to you. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93
But this is what happened to me. I got a 40% off code in an e-mail. The e-mail gave me certain dates I could use the code for. The codes are for a discount on room only. You can add any meal plan and tickets, but the discount is not for the whole package, just the room.

Add me to the November list. My family and I are going from 11/21/08 - 11/28/08. We have booked with a AAA discount. I can modify without penalty until about five weeks before we go. I also have also subscribed to Mousesavers.com. They are pretty good about sending out an e-mail Disney announces a Discount.

What a coincidence.... I had a border collie growing up (lived on a farm and the dog was a working sheep dog ..... who preferred to herd pigs :rotfl2: because he liked the sound of the squeels that the pigs made :rotfl:

TN Mom of 4:
Thanks so much for the info. I don't think it's officially NJ week, but in NJ, the schools are closed on the first Thursday & Friday of November. It's a state teacher convention. So, since I have 3 kids and one will be a freshman in high school, I wanted to work around their days off. So, we're going from 11/1 to 11/7.
Can't wait. We went for the first time as a family last September/October and that's all my 5yr old talks about. I was shocked that my husband said we'll do it 2 years in a row!!!

Just signing up for the thread. Actually, we're really not sure when we're going in November yet. I'd like to go to the Christmas Parade. We've never done that or MVMCP so those are things I'd really like to try this time around. As far as where we'll be staying. That's up in the air too. I really like WL during the winter time. It's so warm and cozy. But maybe we'll go back to the BC or the Polynesian again or try a new Deluxe. We'll see.

Could November come any slower?
I am just hoping that everything works out for my November trip. My boyfriend recently broke up with me... so I lost my travel buddy. My mom said she would go, but that really comes down to what my dad says. Also I just got a new job (part-time at the mall) and it says I can't take that much time off until I work there for a year.

We want to go the Sunday after Thanksgiving to Dec 6th. What do you think are the chances for a public code at that time? We'll stay value & with AAA it's already on $64.00 per night, but obviously any money saved is good. Are there ever any discounts on tickets & dining (other than the free Sept dining?)

I got a code for 1 week in Oct, 1 week in Nov and 1 in Dec. Here is the thing though. My mom has ALWAYS made the reservations under her name, but they looked under the other people on our account and THEY had the pin. Check your other family members!!! They might have the code even if the primary doesn't! Got 40% at WL in Dec ressie on file now! =) I had to call about 15 times to check the info because some people could find it and some could not. My rec. is to make a reservation of any kind with the code... then change the dates/ rooms later! Get the pin reserved! Hope this helps someone!:yay:

I have been researching my family vacation (mom, dad, me, my 2 sisters, 3 husbands/wives and 5 grandchildren) 13 total for the past 2 months on here.
Great source of info on here
All but my younger sister and her husband (she was 7 mos pregnant and the baby came a month early!) were at CBR for a week in Oct 2006 and loved it.
We were resigned to staying at one of the Moderates but were undecided so far for our Nov 2008 trip. We were getting together at my parents cabin this weekend and we were gonna nail down the details for this years trip
Yesterday, inspired by this thread, I had each one of the family members call Disney and ask if we had any codes..
My parents called back with a 40% code!!
Only problem was he was told he could only use it for 3 rooms total
Since my family was goiing for only 6 days, and the rest 8 days, it made sense that the 40% discounts go to the families who were staying for the week, leaving me hi and dry (but not bitter, well, not too bitter lol)
When my wife and kids decided to only do 6 days (we are the only ones who have 2 school age kids) and were spending a little less than our original budget, we started looking at the deluxe resorts, really liking the Boardwalk and beach resorts. The rest of the family wasn't completely sold on spending the extra for the deluxe
So dad and my sister burned up the Disney phone lines this morning. I told them to make thier reservations and I would look at my AAA discount or other alternatives
My sister told the Disney reservation our story, that we were thinking of upgrading to a deluxe and that one family (me) wouldn't be included in the 40% discount. Disney wanted my sister to commit but she didn't want to without talking it over with the rest of us, and she asked if she could call the reservation operator back a little later, the operator said no, BUT took my sisters number and said she would call her back in a short while.
The operator called back in a little while and said she had good news, she spoke to her superiors and we could get all 4 famlies in on the 40% discount!!
So we are in, Beach Club in Nov 2008!!!!!!
I don't know how they did it or if its just Disney Magic (or our special angel above looking out for us :)) but we are in!!!!
Thanks for the idea to call Disney and see if we were in the system. I have to go to the Beach Club forum and read dozens of pages to get us familiar with the new digs!!!!

Help me out with something here. I've never called Disney and asked for a code. How does that work? Do I simply call the reservation line, give them my name, and ask if there are any applicable codes I can use? Right now we have one night booked on property, and are thinking about booking a second night. Should I tell them that, or will they just look up my name and see if I have anything available? :confused3
DCL is so much easier to work with. They just don't give any discounts. :rotfl:

Okay,
I am going to try and make the reservations now for mid November and since I am a newbie at trying to deal directly with Disney for setting up the trip, I have a couple questions.(used AAA the other times we went)
-Is it worth while to call now to ask if they have any discounts available for November or will there be nothing for until the middle of the year?
-Is there any special jargon that can be used when asking about available discounts?
-Is this the best number to call (407) 939-6244?

I will do my best to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge... perhaps there are others out there who may know better.
You can call and ask if there are discounts avail for November. It never hurts to ask, but my assumption is they will tell you no.
Sometimes you get CMs who know things some some who don't. And if you get someone who doesn't know a lot, then it doesn't matter what you say. When I call I just ask if there is a code or pin attached to my name. Once they asked for my husband's name and they were going to check his name, but I am not married. I have also checked to see if my mom has a code attached to her name.
To the best of my knowledge general codes will not be released until August or September. I have heard some people say they have called and booked their trip and canceled and have gotten codes that way. You can try that.
