You're going to have a great time on your adults-only trip! I tried to book PFTS without the kids, but they started a riot! We all love Cirque, and have seen most of the shows. There was NO WAY we could have gone to this without them.

Can I ask what your name is so I can put it on the list? There will be two of you, right? Thanks for posting here. :goodvibes

Cheers!

P.S. Hey, I just noticed in your signature that you'll be at the Contemporary. We're staying there, too, in the tower! :thumbsup2

I wanted to show you guys what I've been working on...

http://www.familyphotoquilt.com/France.gif

I'm making up 4"x6" note cards for all of the Food & Wine booths. I'm using the info I've collected from several sources, but of course, nothing is 'official' until opening day. I will finalize the note cards once the festival programs are out, then I will post the finished cards on my server for downloading. :goodvibes

You can't rate the players without a score card, right? I'm looking forward to working my way around World Showcase!

Cheers!

This is so absolutely wonderful. I have struggled in past years, carrying around a world showcase prgram and losing it and starting over...I would love to grab these for downloading. I am thinking of two colors, one for me and one for DH.

What fun....then we can post notes....

hey,

i am alena and will be with my dh Jeff. This is our 3rd F&W and our second adult only weekend (our kids are to little for this kind of thing.) We did PFTS last year and had a lot of fun, but we are hoping this year to be able to band together for some seating. We lost our little table after only being up for a few minutes to a rude party that threw away my menu and other stuff i had on the table (nothing valuable - but still rude.)

Thanks for starting the thread btw.

That's why I'm taking the time to make them! Last year we just scribbled notes on napkins, scraps of paper, etc. Not very organized & I lost half of them. We'll be ready this year! :thumbsup2 If you want to be added to the confirmed DIS Meet list above, please post your names and party size. Thanks! :goodvibes

That's great! We'd love to join you. We are just planning on doing the monorail shuffle. Is that how you are getting to Epcot? PM me and we can set up a place to meet at the CR. We're staying in the CR Tower but not on the 12th floor (unless we get an upgrade), so we can't meet in the lounge.

Are any of you going to the Eat to The Beat concert before PFTS? It looks like the timing is very tight-the concert starts at 5:45, and PFTS starts at 6:30. I've heard people line up fairly early to get a table at PFTS, so I'm not sure what to do :(

Jean, we weren't planning on going to the concert. I have read that the CM's start checking people in for PFTS as early as 5:45. We are going to try and be there by 6 at the latest. :goodvibes

Hi..wish I were going to PFTS this year, l(eaving on Oct 5) but went last year and it was amazing.

Just thought I'd weigh in re the Eat to the Beat Concert....save it for another time because you will want to be in line for the opening of PFTS so you can get your glasses, get inside and grab a table. There are some big tables , but they go quickly. So I suggest that you don't lolligag in the 'anteroom' to meet up, but instead meet up outside, go in as a group, and grab a big table about half way down.! bon appetit!

I just picked up the last thing I needed for my MNSSHP costume today, but I still don't know what I'm wearing for PFTS.... I just bought a dress on ebay that's really comfortable, but might be too dressy. Does everyone know what they're wearing yet????

Our family doesn't get all dressed up for PFTS. We wear whatever is comfortable and it usually winds up being something we would wear in the parks like capris or jeans. Does anyone know if they changed things this year regarding for the dress code to PFTS? :confused3

BTW guys, where exactly is the venue. It's right around the UK? We won't be going to the concert. Maybe we should have a meet up place?

Good morning everyone!!! Just think - 3 weeks from tonight we'll be at PFTS!!!

I think I'm going to wear black pants, a nice shirt, and I found a nice silk scarf that goes with the outfit. It reminded me of Cirque'... in a good way! Not too flashy, I promise! :rotfl: I'm probably going to wear my heels and grin & bear it. We'll see...

Here are the lime green beads I found. I'm going to be working on the DIS Wine Charms this weekend. (Sorry for the bad pic - I haven't had enough coffee yet - :surfweb: ) Anyway, I'm going to use the Mickey heads as the main charm and will put PFTS & the date on one side, and DIS on the other. I'll post pictures of the finished products!!! :thumbsup2

P.S. The PFTS building is between England & Canada. We could meet by the benches near the lagoon directly across from the entrance. That way, we'd be out of the way of the crowds. After we meet, we can all get in line together. I'm planning on getting to that area no later than 5:45pm. What time does everyone want to meet???

So guys, tell me a little about this event. We've never been! Are the portion sizes similar to the kiosks at F&WF? And is a specific wine paired with each dish? And are the stations all in one area? Are there long lines? Do I sound hyper? ;)

The portions are basically tasting portions like around Epcot during the F&W Festival. Here are some pics of some food from last years PFTS that we attended if it helps give you a better picture. The stations are scattered all over...some have long lines, some don't.

Hi guys, Rain is good...honest, it keeps the heat down and the crowds away.

We live in Fla so when there is a hurricane, there is no going to WDW...we need to stay home and put up shutters.....so we really "shudder" at the thought.

So, this weekend I went shopping for the dress for the party. Don't get your hopes up...After DH trudged with me to 10 stores, we gave up....It will be the green blouse, and black skirt, with the (ever present) comfy shoes....

So that, as they say, is me kitted out.....

Can't wait......

Hi everyone! A little more than a week to go! I can't believe it! :yay: Today is the soft opening of the Food & Wine Fest, and the CMs get to try out the food booths. I hope we get some feedback tonight or tomorrow. Keep an eye out for me for a scan of the Official Food & Wine Booklet. I want to verify all of the info on my score cards. If anything changes, I'll post the revised cards asap! :thumbsup2

I'm still struggling with my outfit for PFTS, but honestly, I'm getting to the point I don't care. Let's just say, that we will all be comfortably dressy, in something that we would feel OK to wear to California Grill or Citricos. We'll be heading to the MK after PFTS, too.

I'm going to make some 'DIS Reserved' table cards later today, and I'll post a picture of them when I'm done. I also bought some green glow sticks to put in the center of our tables so they will be easy to spot in the dark room.

Have a great day! :goodvibes

DH visited my office and brought the Life Section from our local paper because of this article:

Enjoy good food, fine wine Disney style

International festival begins Friday at Epcot

BY BREUSE HICKMAN
FLORIDA TODAY

The annual pilgrimage to the culinary paradise that is the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival doesn't officially begin once you walk through the Epcot gates.

No, folks must walk and walk, then walk some more until they get to the countries area, all the while careful not to succumb to the smells from the fish and chips standby.

Here's why that's a good thing.

Once you enter the festival, you'll find about 25 market places offering food from Turkey to Chile to Scandinavia.

You'll feel less guilt free sucking in the gastronomical greatness knowing you've had a bit of a workout before allowing your appetite to roam free.

And so it is with the 12th annual foray into food and wine bliss, which takes place Friday through Nov. 11

While Epcot is the only theme park where you can eat -- and drink -- around the "world" year round, the festival gives casual theme park visitors a chance to sample foods at cheaper prices. Sampler plates cost between $1 to $4.50.

Based on past experience, just a few dishes can seem to make up an entire meal.

Once again, Epcot Executive Chef Christine Weissman oversees the eating part of the festival. In addition to living, eating and cooking in five other countries she also was a chef Windows on the World, Cellar in the Sky, the fine-dining restaurant at the World Trade Center.

She says gearing up for the International Food and Wine Festival is a year-round process.

"We want to make sure we are staying authentic," says Weissman who has lived in five countries. "So we work not only with our talented team but with sponsors and natives from each region."

Return visitors can expect plenty of new tasty finds.

This year, new kiosks offer food from the Dominican Republic, Peru and Oklahoma.

Yes, Oklahoma. In celebration of the state's centennial, the festival will offer a unique showcase of American Indian cooking and culture.

For fine wine lovers, it offers locals a chance to sample wines, say from India and China, says wine and beverage manager Jason Cha-Kim.

Several kinds of wines will be available to sample at each kiosk.

Festival headquarters have moved to a larger location, the now-defunct Wonders of Life pavilion.

Here's where you can see ready-to-buy versions of most everything you've sampled around the park as well as specialty bottles of wines. Anyone up for a bottle of Marilyn Merlot?

Daily wine and beer seminars are included in park admission.

As if the food isn't visual enough, the festival has added an art exhibit around the park that includes food-related paintings from artists in China, Italy, France and elsewhere.

But beer can be mighty fine at the festival, too. But go easy there, bro. Some of the selections have as much as 25 percent alcohol.

With so many ways to give your taste buds a workout, Weissman said the real challenge is making everything come together -- like one dish.

There are many ingredients and dishes that can overlap between the countries, Weissman says. So, it's especially important to her that each kiosk and special event be unique.

"For me the excitement is working with so many chefs with great ideas," she said. "And knowing that everyone needs to be in sync."

Also returning is the popular "Eat to the Beat" concert series which offers a smorgasbord of entertainers including The Beach Boys, Jon Secada, Little Richard, Sheena Easton, David Cassidy, The Village People and Chubby Checker & the Wildcats, among others.

Those who find room -- and extra cash -- to take in extra curricular activities have plenty to choose from including the weekly food and wine orgy, er . . .grand tasting known as "Party for the Senses." It again will offer performances by Cirque de Soleil.

It's so close, I can't wait!!! :dance3:

Hey Michelle,

My sister has her heart set on attending the Eat to the Beat Concert and I know everyone else is skipping the concert to meet up and get a table at PFTS. I don't expect you guys to hold 3 seats for us, but I definitely want to stop by and meet everyone and hopefully get 3 of those wonderful charms you created, I hope you don't mind.

Okay, I think I've finally decided what to wear:rolleyes: I'm going with a black cotton sundress and some comfortable flat black sandals. We really want to go over to MK right after Illuminations and don't want to be bothered with too much to carry or having to stop at the CR to change. I haven't started packing yet, but i've started a small pile in my closet!

I just wanted to mention that I looked up the MK park hours today, and it looks like it closes at 12am instead of 1am! I hope they don't change anything else!

Your sister should be fine..She will check in before she goes to Eat to the Beat and receive her wrist band, so she should be able to skip the lines at the entrance.

I do this every year...wait and wait - thinking I will not get a table.....and it always works out.....

Yes, I'm very happy they are using Remy & Emile in the Food & Wine Festival signs. I hope there is a lot of Ratatouille merchandise, too! :cloud9:

Here's the cover I'm using for my Score Cards...

OK, here are the DIS table signs that I made...

http://www.familyphotoquilt.com/Pre-TR29.jpg

They are in those plastic picture frames that stand by themselves...

http://www.familyphotoquilt.com/Pre-TR30.jpg

I'm making 3-8"x10" ones and 3-5"x7" ones, just incase the big ones are too big for the tables. Sooooo, if you don't meet us outside, you will know what to look for! :thumbsup2 I also bought some green glow sticks that I will put in the center of each table by the sign.

I finally found an outfit I'm happy with. :yay: It's long sleeved, but very light and airy, so I should be fine in the Florida heat. I haven't decided what to do with my hair yet. It's long and I usually wear it in a braid... but I might wear it down for the evening. I guess it will depend on the weather. Here are some pictures of us in our PFTS outfits. I made everyone try them on before I packed them! LOL! :rotfl: Here we are...

Michelle - this is adorable...My covers are from Pixel Clips, nothing as imaginative as yours. But we did go see Ratatouille this Sunday to help booster the anticipation.....I ended up using the spiral binder for my booklets and organized them based on the walk around booths based on the brochure. I insterted a "best of show" card at the end....That will be hard to complete I am sure....Thanks again for doing all of this..

I will copy Remy and Emil for my trip report.....How cute...and cannot wait to see you and the gang at 5:45.....

Our newpaper ran an article on the F&W - not as good as the one Jasmine posted.

Mis Jasmine - boo hoo - the team lost, the only bad thing this weekend...well, besides the weather, rainy and windy - but we do need the rain, not however, the wind....

Have I mentioned lately that I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH Michelle, having very long hair myself, I will suggest that you prob. do not want to wear yours down for the PFTS. Trust me on this...Mine will be in a braid for the day and Up for the Party.....

I'll check in later...

Michelle, you all look great. I hate to say but I think I am going to be more on the casual side. What can I say, I have adopted the Florida lifestyle. I will be wearing a skirt however.

c&d&f, yeah we lost and that is a stinker, but hey we had a loss last year as well. And if we can beat LSU this week then we are right back in the thick of things (of course we cannot play like we have the last two weeks if that is going to happen).

Miss Jasmine

It's still the rainy season here. The rain will come and go, usually. There are times when one cloud may hang over for a longer period of time. But I really wouldn't concern myself with it. When the forecast is like that, DH and I usually bring rain jackets that fold into their own pockets and I throw them in my backpack.

Thanks, but you'll see, our outfits really aren't as dressy as they look in the pictures! LOL! :rotfl: Jordan is wearing black jeans to go with her black jean half-jacket and I'm sure that the boys will lose their ties really quick once we get inside PFTS! I told them that they didn't need to wear ties, but my son, Conner wanted to so he could have some red to match the girls. My new blouse is very comfortable. I'm so happy I found it yesterday!

I just made an appointment for Brenna, my youngest daughter, to get her hair done at Ivy Trellis in the Grand Floridian before PFTS. She asked me yesterday while we were shopping if she could get another up-do like she did last December... I just couldn't say no... :goodvibes

OH! I almost forgot to mention!!! I did edit the score cards, so you might want to double check what you printed out. Not a lot changed, except for the Dominican Republic. There were only a few other changes here and there, plus I added the prices. Soooo, you probably don't need to print them all out again...

Thanks for the tip about the hair. I will probably wear it up, too. I hope it doesn't rain!!!

I just bought myself a new pair of jeans and a silk blouse. I'm either going with that or a brown and green sleeveless dress. If I wear the dress, I'll bring a brown sweater too. Once again the issue is shoes. I refuse to wear a heel at a Disney park.

Thanks - no time to reprint so we will have to adjust. I printed the OK wines on a stickey and added them to the back side of the score cards. I was not able to work the program to print double sided, so mine are missing the notes.
We can still write on the back, only not as neatly. Hey, I'm just excited about keeping score.

What changed with the DR? I will have to look at that one...

We are south of Orlando and are having terrible rain and wind storms, but they come and go. When they come it is a windy bucket drencher. I have just decided that we will get wet - at least it is still warm.
