*****This trippie is definitely NOT for the under 18 set****

Heed my notice. Poor wee ones would be scarred for life.

For life, I tell ya!

Ok, let's get on with it then!

Isn't it funny how.....

the more things change, the more they actually stay the same?

I'd like to say I've matured over the last 20 years, but those who know me would argue that I am still terribly, hopelessly immature.

Or would they?

Sure, I still make pig faces to passing cars by shoving two fingers in my nostrils and pulling my lower lids down.

Now my lower lids stay down a bit longer than they used to.

Oh, and there's plenty of room in the old Roto Rooter Nostrils for my bloated fingers.

So why would I begin a pre trip report with details such as these?

I have issues. I've come to embrace them

Plus, from the looks of it, some of my fellow/(and ladies as well) DISers seem to have the same problem.

If you managed to stay awake through my Disney Cruise Line trip report from eons ago, you might be a redneck.

OK, maybe not a redneck, but perhaps understanding of my bizarre, childish sick humor.

and my love of my Precious  (Mickey)

So back off Minnie!

I'm moving in and I'm not leaving!

Quick cast recap:

DH- aka "Chief Glutton", 39, a hottie, the cynical liberal originally from Massachusetts.
Moi - aka "Obsessive Glutton", turned 40 on the trip, the idealistic conservative originally hailing from southern California
DS- aka "Prince Glutton", 11, a handsome, smart, funny, sensitive, amazing young dude
DD - aka "Princess Glutton", 8, gorgeous, smart, serious, and our baby!

I'm the one with the thunder thighs.

We also have a 12 year old Corgi named Emily (but you are permitted to address her as ED, which is short for "Empress Dowager".
Haughty, isn't she?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/100_2080.jpg

Plus, a recent addition to our hearty mix is The Beast aka Zeus. He's almost 5 months old and a miniature Schnauzer. We call him "insert naughty descriptive adjective here" von Schnauzer. When he barges into a room, strains of George Thurogood's "Bad to the Bone" chime in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/Baddog.jpg

The Gluttons are about to embark upon one of their biggest journeys yet! Chief Glutton has just wrapped up 20 years of service as active duty Air Force and is kicking and screaming as Mama Glutton drags him into civilian life and a move to Tampa, Florida. Buccaneers and Disney?
How's that for a combination? We're moving cross country to the land of pirates and pixie dust. We're traveling from Montana to Florida, celebrating our arrival home with five nights (possibly more) at Coronado Springs Resort with FREE dining! Just what my thighs needed, right?

We take off August 30th for a cross country expedition that will lead us to our promised Land beginning September 12th!

and for those of you in the know, yes indeed, the Tribbles are traveling with us!:cloud9:

or did we?

Next up.....

I cut one too!

OK, but be VERY quiet. I'm trying to get as much posted as I can before we reach Florida. Right now we're in Dallas, at a KOA, and I'm surfing the internet while the kids splash in the pool. We leave in the morning for Louisiana.

How about some Grand Canyon pictures?

Refer back to the first section of my first post about my ever present immaturity, back to my cruise trip report about my absolutely wretchedly grotesque sense of humor. If you have a weak tummy, you might NOT want to read on. Can you imagine four people on a determinedly healthy diet in anticipation of outright gluttony at Walt Disney World, cohabitating in a motor home for a cross country trek of epic proportions? Can you even imagine what that smells like? Could we get a courtesy flush in the house, people?

Thanks!

OK, now that we've settled that, let's backtrack a bit. Quick recap:

The Gluttons ventured to Las Vegas and flew to Florida in late February 2007, visited Precious (Mickey:love: ), went on an AMAZING Disney Cruise, met Kyle  at Downtown Disney Guest Relations, went to Tampa, and went back to Montana.....Great Falls..... which has THIS in its airport:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P9240005.jpg

The Gluttons were aware at the time that the Chief would be closing out a 20 year career in the Air Force in the summer of 2007, moving to Tampa, and kicking our Florida life off with a trip to the World.

So, on August 30th, the Gluttons left Great Falls, Montana and burned rubber to spend the first night in Pocatello, Idaho (Yes, Senator Craig IS from Idaho, but the Chief did not use any public toilets in Idaho) in our motor home.

The next night? Panguitch, Utah KOA. These were quick stops, to sleep and eat, before hitting the trail again.

Then a couple of nights at a very crowded Flagstaff, Arizona KOA, with a trip to the majestic Grand Canyon thrown in for good measure.

The kidlets would be missing the first month of school this year and we wanted to throw in SOME educational benefits on this trip.

So there you have it. You're up to date..... well....sort of.

You see, a lot of planning went into all of this. Any crazed DISfreak knows that planning and over planning is a major part of all this debauchery.

But I digress (and I HAD to toss in at least one digression along the way, right?:cheer2:

Next stop? Where in the world IS Tucemcari anyway?

LovableGluttons

Back in March, the Gluttons were a mess. The post cruise depression was not something we anticipated while planning our adventure.

The answer? Plan more trips for Disney immersion.

When we returned home, coworkers suggested Mama Glutton work at WDW in a First Aid station somewhere as a registered nurse.

Umm that would be a definitive "N-O"

Spoil the joy of being at the world with minor injuries?

Not happening.

Remember the guy who controls the winter weather in Montana?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/sm1.gif
After yet another frigid wintery day of suffering in Montana, Mama Gluttons picked up the phone.....and dialed.

1 - 4 - 0 - 7 - W - D - W - I - N - F - O

and chatted with the NICEST cast member!

and booked just two nights in Animal Kingdom Lodge in September 2007. Just two.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/AKLSign.jpg

No Free dining. Nada. Just two nights. I had such fond memories of Boma:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/Boma2.jpg

As a welcome for the Gluttons. A welcome to Florida.

Except the Chief wanted nothing to do with it.

The Chief wanted to buy into Disney Vacation Club and not stay at any of the resorts.

Remember the Chief?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/PA060120.jpg

Sure, SOME of you might think Mama Gluttons had her hairnet on a bit too tight to turn down DVC ownership.

But she had a good reason!

Which DVC to purchase? The Chief liked Old Key West. Too bad they don't have DVC in Tucemcari.......NEW MEXICO.

Mama?

Mama likes her some Villas at Animal Kingdom with their extra 15 years of ownership.

Yes, they are pricier, but that's an extra 15 years for the Glutton grandbabies to enjoy Precious  (Mickey)

So, the Gluttons kept their paltry two days.

Or DID they?

Up next..... the problem with secrets.....the problem with lies.....popcorn::

LovableGluttons
09-19-2007, 12:02 AM
Tucemcari is in New Mexico..... in the United States.

Why do I mention this?

The KOA there is very nice. The owners are so nice. They cook and deliver meals to your motor home.

See where this is going?

Outright gluttony! The Gluttons were in training for FREE dining!

In order to fully take advantage of the FREE dining offer, one needs to expand this:
http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/img/people/beerbelly.jpg

and, no, that is NOT Mama Glutton's tummy!

So the Gluttons were drivin' n' eatin'..... eatin' n' drivin'

and they were liking it too!

Stretchy shorts, plus size billowy tee shirts, the Gluttons were readying themselves for a smorgasboard Mickey style.

but the Gluttons had an odd resemblance to another well known cross country traveling family you may remember.....
http://i.cnn.net/cnn/2002/TRAVEL/DESTINATIONS/05/01/st.planner/story.lampoonsvacation.jpg

You see, the Gluttons, like the Griswalds, have a trip history or some luck run amuck (amuck, amuck, amuck)

This trip would be no different.

After several weeks of sweet dreams of Animal Kingdom tucked away in her head, Mama Glutton gleaned that there was construction taking place until at least Spring 2008 at AKL.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/AKLSign.jpg

After a call to 1-407-WDW-INFO, Mama learned that this was true. She learned from the very cheerful cast member that Coronado Springs was a delightful resort with one neat pool.

So she switched from two nights at AKL to two at CSR.

http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/d/d3/CoronadoSpringsResort_Color.png

Then hung up

Then called back

Then added another night.

Then thought about it, counted days on a calendar, and figured the long Labor Day weekend should suffice nicely.

Until the snag.

You know him.....the Chief. The Chief was unaware that he had to give Uncle Sam 120 days notice of his plans to retire. Retire. Hit the road. Bail. Skedaddle. Make like a tree and git. You know.

Which meant the Gluttons could not leave the boonies until late August, which meant they would not make it to Florida before Labor Day weekend.

What to do? What to do?
http://www.whynotmovecheap.com/images/ponder0.jpg

How about calling 1-407-WDW-INFO again?

Change the reservation to September 13th through the 15th.

Then add another night for good measure. Tell the Chief its his penance for messing up.

Then call WDW again and make ADRs!

This is getting complicated, isn't it?

Next up.....

When life hands you lemons..... you cry.....

HHmmm where were the Tribbles??

Err, I have Tribble blindness... I meant to say...

"Where were the Gluttons?"

Oh, the Gluttons were still in the boonies, a muck in the tedious process of moving.

There would be a motor home to stock, a house to clean and turn over to Uncle Sam, a trip to Disney to plan for, and a Chief to ease into the world of the civilian. (If this was a military site, I think the word "civilian" would be considered an expletive and ******** would be left in its place).

Easier said than done. Being in Montana this summer, I did not suffer from snow blindness, but from Disney fever. I called Disney almost every day to check on ADRs, kept a tiny notepad in my purse that I would furiously scribble notes on about the trip.

All the while, not letting DH or the wee wittle ones that I was going all out on this Disney thang!

Or was I?

Or did I?

Wait for it............

But I digress (you can breathe now).

I also had a surprise cruise to plan (No Tink, I'm not spilling the date just yet. What if the Gluttons wanted to go incognito?)

I needed time and I needed moolah.

Part of such a big life change like military retirement and relocation is complete revealment. I had to let the Chief know of our financial situation. While we were comfortable, spending money on something as frivolous as a Disney vacation wasn't practical.

Unless you are sneaky.

Hello. I'm Sneaky.

As I sorted through the 20 years of belongings we'd accumulated, I started listing some of the items on eBay. I also hauled some over to the consignment store. My auctions went really well! I horded my proceeds.

and I was sneaky about it!

Sssshhhhh!

and I was like Ebeneezer Scrooge about MY Disney money too!

Chief wanted a new GPS software thingamajig for the trip. Mama said "NO"

Chief wanted this and that. Mama said "No" and "No". to every request.

and the Chief was like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/ATT_6.gif

and I was like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/ATT_3.gif

To release some steam, we went with friends to the lake for some jet skiing and camping.

The hills were so smoky from the fires in Montana!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1150002.jpg

the sun even looked irritated by the smoke (or could that even be the moon?)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1150038.jpg

and lots of deer were seeking refuge from the conditions
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/100_2128.jpg

With taxes, the CSR room ran about $170 per night. Sure, sure, the Gluttons could have stayed at a Value, but the Chief is persnickety. So I spent a little more. We got the basic Magic Your Way package of one day one park, and free dining.

But would that really be enough time for the Gluttons at Disney?:cloud9:

Coming up..... a smelly situation.....

Picture this.....

It's a scorching day in the middle of nowhere Montana. The gruff, grizzly, toothless rural mail carrier drops sweat soaked mail and packages off on my door step. I brave the scorching dry heat to retrieve the sweaty, rapidly drying mess.

I see the familiar Year of a Million Dreams hue of blue!

I won!

.:cheer2:

:wizard:

Ok, no I didn't.:rotfl:

It was an fluffy envelope for from the Walt Disney Travel Agency!

Inside was my itinerary and four luggage tags in the Year of a Million Dreams theme.

It was really going to happen! The Gluttons were going to go to Walt Disney World and not cheap it! No offsite, no motor home, and no Shades of Green!

:yay:

Just typing that gives me blue fuzzies!

It's mid August now. I've made ADRs. Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic package for 09/14/07, Spoodles 09/15/07, Le Cellier 09/16/07.

Checking in on the 13th and checking out on the 17th.

Would that be enough time for the Gluttons?

Mama Gluttons would be seeing this all the way across country:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1280072.jpg

and soon we'd be leaving this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1250006.jpg

and this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1250008.jpg

behind!

The Gluttons moved the motor home to the driveway and began furiously cleaning and stocking it for the upcoming trek.

and noticed a funky odor coming from our palace on wheels. Whew!

The longer you were holed in in the Gluttons' land yacht, the stronger the stank STANK!

In the bathroom, the Chief discovered a lovely surprise.

The valve inside the toilet was stuck open, instead of closed to contain the goodies in the motor home's black water holding tank. (For you motor home novices out there, the black water tank is aptly named.....get it?).

There was SOMETHING stuck in there!

or were they?

Well, if you've read this far in this report, then you probably already know that it was the Chief working out that smelly problem. Something was stuck in the motor home commode. We needed that commode for our cross country journey!

Just what was stuck in there anyway? Was it:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1260020.jpg

Perhaps stuck sideways?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1250017.jpg

Of course I stood and surveyed the Tribbles as the chief bent hunched over the throne. It's common for me to just stand and keep an eye on his little guys as he works at whatever he's working on at that particular moment. It is usually then that I zone out to a land far away where I picture the Chief in a tiny loin cloth swining on a vine across a jungle to reach me.....

Oh.

We were talking about stink.

and commodes.

Right.

Sometimes it helps me to refocus if I force myself to think of horrible thing. Or to look at scary pictures.

Like these

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/10.jpg

OOhhh they're hot....

Or are they?

Anyway, back to the toilet!

I was worried what the chief would find. The motor home was usually stored in a storage lot that was noted for having some of Montana's less than friendly wildlife visit frequently. I was worried for the Tribbles...err...the chief.

What fate was awaiting him in the grimy depths of sewage?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/ATT_4.gif

Wellah! With some curses reminiscent of the Dad on A Christmas Story, the chief finally freed the culprit!

Fudge!

Only he didn't say "fudge".....

It twas.....

It twas....

Soap poisoning!

No, not really! It was just some paper towels that one of the youngsters had tossed into the porta throne. The valve slammed shut and the sweet, sweet fragrance of serenity wafted through.

NOT!

It took a while, but freshness was eventually restored and the cleaning and stocking began anew with fervor.

All hail to the chief for coming to the rescue! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/ATT_5.gifThe Gluttons could travel in the motor home without enduring that smell!

Why such a hurry? DH had a big retirement ceremony coming up, a big surprise catered luau after, the movers were coming, I was hosting BUNCO with a cool theme at my house, planning a trip to WDW, and would be leaving to move across country.

My To Do list was looking bad.

The party was a great success, even the theme!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/Frankzoolander.jpg

The movers came, they packed, packed some more, then finally hauled our belongings off to store in a warehouse somewhere until the Tribbles found a new home.

The motor home was at an RV Park and was now, officially, our new home.

DH's retirement was a somber affair. Entering the military at age 18 and spending 21 years serving his country made it especially difficult for him to retire. It was all he knew. Mother Air Force had been pretty much his only employer in his life. The Chief would now have to market himself, his 21 year military career, and an unused MBA to the civilian world and hope they'd hire him. What a huge transition! One the Air Force really could not offer much in the way of assistance to help him. It was up to the Gluttons.

The Gluttons and the Chief's coworkers kicked off his new found freedom with an 80's themed luau after that sad, staunch retirement ceremony. Beer, roasted pork, and loads of leis and hula skirts. Wayfarer sunglasses and even a DJ spinning 80's nostalgia turned a little piece of Montana into a Polynesian island for the afternoon.

Then it came to me. The 13th through the 17th wasn't long enough. I blearily called my dear, sweet friends at WDW INFO and added another day, then in my beer stupor, I added ADRs for Raglan Road for the night of the 13th in honor of beer. Then added Ohana for breakfast the morning of the 17th just for good measure.

So, CSR 9/13-9/17, great ADRs, and the Gluttons were hitting the road!:cool1:

Can we get there from here?

Ok, back to it then!

It was a Thursday. How do I know? Because Wednesday was the first day of school in the boonies. No, Glutton kids did not go. Not for one day. Why?

Because Mama Gluttons likes herself some unedjamacated buffooons.

Or does she?

You have to give the Gluttons credit for one thing. They do things in ways that are not conventional.

School? They can miss some, start late, make up what they missed, and fit right in. Why? It's a military brat sort of thing. Not that the Gluttons are BRATS in the conventional sense (ok, maybe they can be at times), but because they swim in the Air Force father gene pool.

The wagon train (err caravan) pulled out of Montana on August 30th, headed for the first night in Pocatello, Idaho.

I'll wait for you to finish snickering and asking "Poke her where?"

No, we didn't see snow, but it was getting mighty chilly. We saw cows, grass, and an occasion intercontinental ballistic missile launch facility. Otherwise, driving in that part of Montana affords no views.

We pulled into Pocatello (snicker), checked into the KOA next to a very mannish woman traveling with her mother, tossed in some laundry, made dinner, called friends, and crashed.

The next morning, I awoke to strains of Dean Martin croonings outside my window.

Only it wasn't Dean Martin!

It was the woman next to us breaking camp! Wow! She sure had a DEEP voice.

Quick breakfast, and the caravan creeped on, Utah was waiting!

and we would not be stopping in Las Vegas this time (sob)

Yes, the Griswalds, err Gluttons hit the road for the second day of their fantastical cross country road trip. So many miles, so many hours, what to do to pass the time?

Kids fight, dogs chew, chiefs rant in rages on the road.
But Mama?

She's a drive by shooter.

Of pics that is. Some of them turn out mighty nice. Most are deleted.

You can only stare at this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1280072.jpg
for so long before boredom sets in.

So enjoy the scenery between Pocatello, Idaho and Panguitch, Utah. I did... for a bit...but not for long...because I HATE TO DRIVE!! But I digress! (Yeah, I went there again)http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/3D_emoticon_14.gif

Take a gander at what I gandered:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1280025.jpg

Finally pull into the Panguitch KOA. We should have let our noses lead the way.

Ever daydream about renting one of those RV for Rent motor homes to sightsee? I used to before I bought my RV.

Today I knew I would likely never rent a motorhome.

The group of grown men in line for checking ahead of me put out more BO than a sweatsock laundry. Holy mackeral!

My son escorted me in to register, then promptly left to go stay in the rv with his father. My son left the opportunity to score a candy bar from the KOA store, purchased by his Mom. The BO was strong onion eye watering BO.

They registered, left, and only carried some of their BO out with them to their rented motor home. Yes, those filthy, stinky bodies came from a rented motorhome.

After we set up camp, we went for a swim, cleaned up, hit the hay, to wake up for our third day of fun. Fun it would be though, as we would be reaching the Flagstaff KOA and the beginning our seeing the Grand Canyon!

The drive from Panguitch, Utah to Flagstaff, Arizona is scenic.

Moving along.....

The Gluttons arrive at the Flagstaff KOA, check in, and are given an occupied spot to park their luxurious land yacht.

OK, it's luxurious for short term camping, but long treks? Long habitations whilst waiting for the closing and move in on a new house?

As my furry friend who bears an uncanny resemblence to the Chief (in his younger, prolific scalp days) would say

NOT SO MUCH!

The Gluttons were not getting along. Small spaces were wearing the Gluttons down. The Gluttons were ready for some vacation of some sort to escape from the stress of the relocation.

No, Disneyland was too far away from the Grand Canyon.

That's it! We'll go to the Grand Canyon!

After we carefully maneuver the large barge into a teeny tiny camping spot, nestled between two Amish rigs.

Yes. Amish.
http://www.leerburg.com/Photos/amish1.jpg

No, no, no, that's NOT what they were camping in.

They were camping in this:
http://www.4pawskingdom.com/images/45_ft_motorhome.jpg

and before you contest Mama Glutton's accounting of Amish DRIVING and CAMPING in MOTORHOMES.....

just shush!

Why?

Because we asked them!

That we did.

Or did we?:confused3

Yeah, we did!

So we parked, set up camp, walked the pooches, then hopped in the car and drove off to see the sights.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1290007.jpg

Oh come now. You didn't think the Gluttons would actually go in the park that day, did you? We are way too cheap for that! Plus, we'd been driving all day and were just interested in beer, a campfire, and a snooze.

Next up.....

Hopping Hopis!

Hi, lovable gluttons, love your TR, very funny! You know that Disney employs many security officers right? at many different levels. And military background would be good!

Funny how your DH is retireing from the AF, and my son is just trying to get in, as an officer (although he is a bit old at 28, that worries me). We should hear somehing by the end of the month. It's a huge deal for my son.

I confess! I'll eat turkey, but if given the choice between Disney popcorn and turkey, I always go for the popcorn.

I've never understood the fascination with the Mickey bars when there is that popcorn.

I like to go to Downtown Disney and sit near the popcorn place near World of Disney just to smell it.

Sure wish the popcorn I make at home tasted or smelled like that.

Oh good luck! My husband's cousin just went into the Navy at age 37, so I can't see why they wouldn't take your son.

My husband's job search woes are mostly due to wanting a more administrative position but being offered technical stuff and the pay that goes along with those positions. Kind of discounts all that time and money spent on college.

S'ok, I have a feeling something wonderful is on the horizon for him.

Ooohhh close confines, campfires, and poor airflow.

The Gluttons awoke, showered, but could not rid themselves of the smoky undertones of the previous evenings smolderings.

It was a quick trip off to the Grand Canyon!

We entered the park and a wonderful man motioned to us that he was going to leave and offered us his parking spot. This was a wonderful gesture as the park was packed..... Disney World on a school break packed!

We parked and walked to a trail to check out the views.

The view was breathtaking, so majestic, powerful!

As the Gluttons were leaving the area, they walked by some female tourists who pointed at Mama Gluttons elephant legs, made snide remarks to each other in Spanish, and snickered. Mama Gluttons speaks a hefty share of Spanish, understood most of what they said, and said something just as NOT nice in kind IN Spanish, and angered the women.

Not a moment I am proud of, but I admit I did it. Not responding to it would probably have been the most mature approach, but it still would have hurt my feelings, and I would have left feeling like I had not defended myself.

Why even go there? Why comment on something that may not fit into your realm of "normal" when there is just no need to?

One of these ladies had a large hairy mole on the side of her face. I wouldn't have made mention of it in passing so she could possibly overhear out of unkindness. I only mention it because each of us has something that makes us unique that we should probably embrace instead of ridicule, just because it makes us better human beings.

OK, off the soapbox now.

It was HOT outside! Over by the Hopi House in the park was a beautiful lodge. We ventured inside and checked out the residents:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1290017.jpg

On the way out of the park, we stopped at a roadside display of Native American crafts and purchased a Hopi red clay painted Christmas tree ornament. The Hopi selling them had blond hair and blue eyes! SHe was very beautiful and taught the Gluttons how to say "Merry Christmas" in Hopi!

Back to the KOA for the night before we get out of Dodge and head to Tucemcari.:surfweb:

The Gluttons were on the run. Tucemcari KOA was beckoning and we were determined to answer the call to camp!

After a long day driving behind the motor home, Mama Gluttons was ready dinner, laundry, and a dip.

No, the dip I'm referring to was in the pool.

But I digress :scared1: .

(Might as well get that out of the way early, right?)

We found Tucemcari KOA off the highway, a few twists and turns, hills and dales, and we were there!
See?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/P1280142.jpg

The owners were very nice! They had visited the KOA in Great Falls recently to shop for Kamping Kabins and met with the owner up there. We compared notes, had some laughs, then settled in for the night.

There were yellow frogs everywhere! KOA yellow, but they came about their hue naturally! I tried to catch a picture of them, but none turned out.

After our quick dinner, swim, and round of laundry, we hit the hay. Sorry, but other than a rodeo and a history of tornadoes, Tucemcari is a quiet place!

Besides, the Gluttons had a date. The Gluttons were actually.....

The food was ghastly, even by Glutton standards. We ate at the Officer's Club on MacDill Air Force Base with my parents. The Club manager was a grimy woman with an attitude. They moved our table when we were up getting our food, took my purse, and did not tell me.

The water glass were so filthy, you could see lip marks on them. Ugh! There was hair in the gravy, the roast beef was dry and overcooked, it took them half an hour to bring us coffee, and then what they brought was cold.

I took a break form it, went outside and yelled "I AM THANKFUL" to the sky 50 times before I felt calm enough to go back inside.

The staff was rude, the place settings dirty, the food gross.

DH is a former Navy brat. He cracked up at some of your descriptions. His dad retired about 8 years ago. Ended up back at school (GI bill at 48...he had a lot put aside at that point *snicker*).

They lived in Pensacola and Jax....and Philippines, NOLA, Bowie MD, Whidbey Island, and Illinois!! Dh's father was Air Force. He was very disappointed that FIL went into the navy, but FIL's Bro went AF Rangers, so it was all good.

Can't wait to read what else happened! 'Course we HAD been thinking about buying a camper before this TR.....:hippie:

PROCESSED TURKEY????????????????????

What was this... the military???? Oh yeah... right...

Well, if it helps... I'm hoping for April to be at WDW and if we do go...maybe you could join us at V&A's... will ask mom if she doesn't mind company... (she's not snooty...but ever since I was a kid...I've always asked if I could have someone over for dinner...)

So which Gluttons almost made the top of the car???

That would be a blast!

Although between April 4th and 13th might be a bit difficult. The kiddos are out of school and the Gluttond might be sneaking in another cruise.

But ssshhh..... its between you and me, right?;)

Welcome aboard!

That military jargon never fully leaves us, no matter how we try to forget it.

Go on a Disney cruise! It's absolutely life changing!

Camper? Well, they can be fun to camp in.

Live in it while moving across country, house hunting, and waiting to move into a house?

Just don't do it!

Everyone belted in securely?

I'm going to fast forward on this trip report a bit.

Why?

Chalk it up to compulsion!

Can you?

Ok, no, you can't.

On fast forward for a bit.....

The Gluttons left Texas, headed for a night at the FamCamp at Barksdale Air Force Base (incidentally just after that plane full of surprise nukes flew there from North Dakota. We saw the plane in question sitting on the tarmac).

Then a night at the Baton Rouge KOA and a crazy thunder and lightening storm.

Finally, we're in Florida! Chatahootchee to be exact.

KOA with a beautiful lodge!

Gas station with souvenir gator heads for sale.

Yup!

Moving along!

Then, TA DA! We're in Tampa! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v731/NickieLea/3D_emoticon_157.gif

Home.

The abode.

La maison.

OK, not technically.

We had a motor home.

We had two days to swim, chill, settle in before our REAL adventure began!

Up next.....

I'm thinking of cruising the week of the 12th... Eastern... Mom isn't too thrilled with that side of Mexico (Western) ...but DID mention the other side (West Coast) ... Go figure... Won't know again for a bit, but I do have my ressies at the Poly from the 19th to the 27th... We be goin for 17 nights... :woohoo: (hopefully long enough for the snow to melt and someone to come and do all the spring cleaning in my yard...) We didn't make the Oct. one which was good because it would have been Hurricane Noel and I hear they had a rough trip of it... (would have meant a few more drinks for me, but hey...) I'm hoping if my project gets done and I get paid the amount I am supposed to get, I may invite my 2 aunts to go along with us... a surprise for mom's bday...

oh... could you imagine a tr from US???? (including empty chair at V&A's and all to continue your press shy prescence...no need to get the paparazzi involved...)

You know... I was just thinking...

Both of us I would imagine are in a very nice way... LOUD... (nah....)

They're going to have to gag us at V&A - we'd be having too much fun!!!
