We are going 1/20 thru 1/26. My kids are asking Santa for the trip, and hoping he brings it for them!!:rotfl:
Both my son and my husband will be celebrating their birthday there. I have dinner planned at the Coral Reef, complete with the divers (for my son) and the menu (for DH). I also ordered a cake, so I think we are set!!
I am sooooo excited, I can't stand myself:banana:
I think Santa may have to make reservations at The Bibbidi Bobbidi for DD, so she doesn't feel left out!

We will be there 1/26-2/1 with my DD first trip. Word to the wise don't tell a 2 year old you're going to see Mickey 6 months in advance. Everytime we get in the car she says "Sophie's going to see MIckey now." I'm not sure if it's a question or statement. Staying at WL for the first time. Have the count down marked daily on my calendar. 139 days to go.

Quick suggestion for your two year old--make a chain out of construction paper and have her take one link off every night before bed. I did this for my DD and DS when we went last year, and believe me it helped!! It really cut down on the are we going yet? questions!! In fct, I think since Santa is bringing our trip this year, he is going to leave one for them so we can count down again.

We are so excited.. we are going for my little girls 6th birthday! We can't wait!
If you are staying onsite have the birthday noted on your reservation. One time at GF DD received a personally signed photo of Cinderella wishing her a Happy Birthday and GF chocolate bar. Also be sure any TS meals have it noted, she may get a HB cupcake. Here is a photo of Amy being presented her cupcake by Prince Charming at 1900 Park Faire:

We're going 1/26 - 2/2! Can't wait! We were just there in April but had so much fun we had to do it again before DD starts school and it gets harder to go. All the ADR's and BBB ressie are made - now it is just the waiting to see if there are any good discounts and if there will be a P&PP when we are there!

We will be coming down from Alaska for my DS's Make A Wish trip.:woohoo: This is our first WDW trip for all of us. I'm not sure if I'm more excited or my 3 boys (definately not dh! but he will love it when he's there). I don't care if it's in the 40's while we're there, it will still be better than the -40 that we will probably being having in Alaska :yay: I'm thinking about the paper chain thing for me, forget the kids! I can hardly stand even looking at the calander, is it really still September

We're going the 19th - 26-ish. Haven't made ressies yet but the kids have some of those dates off and early dismissal on others. We're thinking about trying CSR and getting 2 adjoining rooms so we can have a bit more space. 8 and 10 yr old are all about their own personal space these days.:rolleyes1
Of course I keep seeing gorgeous pics posted of our beloved poly. And then there's the BWI that I've been dying to try. Decisions, decisions....

January 20 - 26th at BWV. Trying Deluxe Dining too. Just bummed about Splash Mountain closing -- so much so that I've thought about switching dates... We went late January last year though and had SUCH a good time. The weather could be anything from chilly to rainy to 70 and beautiful -- it was all of those things at one time or another last year. It even snowed the day before we arrived last year! It warmed up by the end of the week and we did get to swim. Is anything more unpredictable than Florida weather?

We'll be at the Wilderness Lodge, Jan 16 to 27 to celebrate DS's birthday on the 19th.
I actually think the waiting for this trip isn't so bad, between the fun of planning, revising, and adjusting all my ADRs (we'll be on the deluxe dining plan) and planning a very Disney Christmas to get the kids excited about the trip. So far, they're getting lanyard medals, 25 pin grab bags for trading, Epcot passports, a custom autograph book for DD, a new lanyard for DS (DD got one for her birthday)... And who knows what else I'll find between now and then!

Going week of 1/13. Has anyone gone the week leading into MLK? There's the marathon, then the cheerleading at the end of the week.
The past two years, we have gone the week of MLK and it generally not that crowded (longest wait maybe 30 on Dumbo or speedway). I booked the same period this year, the weather during this week has been great mid 70s. Now I'm starting to think going before a long weekend is not a good idea and I should reschedule.

So far I think our dates actually only coincide with Elmo 888! We are planning Jan 26th -Feb. 3rd.We are booked right now at the BC. This will be the 3rd trip there. Tried to get the CR for accessibility, but to no avail. Now kinda leaning to the Poly-lovin that monrail!!!
But, whatever- that's when we have planned. I have never been in Jan. We have done Dec. 3 times, but it's just getting busier all the time. I wanted to do something different, so we are going to try this. I know we are leaving out on the weekend when people will be coming in for Mardi Gras. Do any of you see that as being a big thing? We will be in the parks that Sat.- but not Sunday, that a.m. we are flying out? But I thought of the weekend choices, between MLK, the marathon, and the cheer thing, this was the best.
Anyone else at the BC that week?

I'm coming in from New Orleans and we should be hopefully checking in around 1:30 or 2:00. *crosses fingers* We didn't really make any plans to hit up the parks on our arrival day. I think we're actually just going to head down to DD and walk around, do some shopping, etc.
It's going to be myself, DM, DA, and DA. (I'm still getting used to using these shortened words. heh) But basically, all women and no men or children. I'm the youngest (21) and will be supervising my mother and two aunts. Ironic, eh? I've been several times before and this will be their first time at Disney! :D So, I'm really exciting, and SO glad we've finally got into double digits.

We're booked at Pop Jan 26- Feb 3. SO excited. I've got our schedule roughed out, ADRs booked
This is the first time I'll be at WDW for more than a weekend or a day. My daughter and I haven't been there since we were FL Residents back in 05. My husband hasn't been there since he was a kid with his family over 20 years ago! (He was SOO disappointed to just find out there is no more Mr Toad's Wild Ride! :-( )
We can't wait. Every once in a while when we're having a rough time...one of us will just start singing..."We are going to Disney, We are going to Disney." (imagine the "we just got a letter" song from Blues Clues.)
I'm starting to think about how we are ever going to get through Christmas. Some kind of gifts we can use on the trip perhaps?

I actually just heard about Homeschool Days earlier in the week on my homeschool loop! It sounds like it should be fun!
We went in February last year and loved it. I'm hoping the weather is just as cooperative in January as it was then. Have you checked out ***************** ? They have a crowd level calendar that can help you judge how the crowds might be during the time you're going to be there. However, you need to have a membership or an Unofficial guide to get access. But since I'm already there, I'll sneak a peek for you. BRB...
I'm back! :) The crowd levels look pretty good for you. The only thing that might make it a bit more crowded might be the Marathon and Half Marathon that first weekend you're there. HTH

We also have 4 water park fun and more tix which we are using at Quest for 3 days. We will get to Orlando Friday night, leaving home early that morning. We have a 10 1/2 hour drive plus stops from here in Asheville. We will be going to Disney Quest Sat. and Sun. so hopefully Quest won't be too busy. We have never been before so I have no ideas about crowds there. It is probably always busy. Then we will be going to D. Quest again the Sat. we leave. Also, my mom has an ECV and is disabled so we usually get on rides a little faster with her which has been really nice in the past!

I LOVE the flexibility that homeschooling affords us! It's so nice to be able vacation during off times. One of my children has some ADHD/OCD issues and has a difficult time with crowds, so it's wonderful that he can experience Disney during non-peak times.

We'll be EXACTLY 2 months from our "departure date" on Saturday.
That day, I'm hauling the luggage out of the basement, and starting the packing process. We've got oodles of stuff that's trip specific (and has been taking up space in the corner of our Bed room...which is where the luggage will go now) that we can pack now. It's also (finally) fall in CT, and it looks like the shorts/t-shirts/polo shirts are finally out of the regular "rotation" for clothes...so rather than stow them all away for winter, we'll pack what we need for the trip, first.

DO you already have tickets? WIth the package discount and AP discount I doubt that they will release room only too, though I may be wrong. AAA is another option, though. THeir website shows $127.20 a night.

That's great that you were able to get a discount this close! I remember the good old days! Back in 'Dec. '04, DH remarked right around Xmas that he was missing WDW even though we were there in October '04. With his work schedule I needed about a month so that he could be sure that the days were blocked. I first booked the SWan thanks to Bob at Dreams Unlimited for a good rate, then began corresponding with SUe Ellen at Dreams and she got us YC for $197 a night with the AP for the first weekend in Feb. Now I'm paying ~$275 a night with the general code plus the cost of the d ining plan for a YC room, three day tickets (park hopping and water parks included with the code). Total package cost for us and the girls 10 & 12 is $2800 for four nights!

We arrive at AKL on Jan 5. I finally made ADRs on Monday and got everything I asked for - makes me hopeful that we may be able to switch some of them around if we want a little spontaneity. We're doing Sunrise Safari our first full day and the Epcot Segway tour the second day.

Still no idea, whoo hoo! I went ahead and booked the night of the 1st at Sports, so we'll be checking in at YC early on the 2nd. Tried to keep it a secret but older DD checks my email, so.......... I had booked POR at $167 rack, then Sue Ellen with DU managed to get me a AAA rate at Sports, onsite for < $75, couldn't pass that up!

Yep, can you believe I have kept the secret this long???? Although my youngest just joined the drumline after 3 weeks of tryouts, so they have been pretty busy (as have I) so that made it easier. Let's see if I can make it through Christmas week with them being home. Augh!
Glad to hear you got such a great deal for an extra night. We will be on the look out for you at the YC from the 2nd on....... I went and got my little Mickey shaped thingy's at Home Depot today. :woohoo:
Have a safe trip!:)

TiffanyD - We will arrive at AKL on 1/5 at approximately 2pm for a stay thru 1/12. We won't go to the parks that day, but will check out the property & have dinner at Boma at 4:50 before heading to DTD for the evening.
You may want to check out the January 2008 thread in the Adult and Solo Traveler folder; there will be several of us there in January.

LOL, you just cited our itinerary, FOR THE SAME DAY, too.
Although I think our Boma's ADR is for 5 PM.
pilferk - I'll look for you in Boma. Have you eaten there before? I thought this would be the easiest way to deal w/DH's issue of being tired after a long drive (he's not a big Disney fan; this is my vacation). Then, when he's full and happy, I can drag him to DTD and not let him go.
We may do breakfast at Boma later in the week. I don't want everything super-scheduled. Hopefully the crowds will be light and accommodating and we'll have no trouble getting into a restaurant when we choose (I think I'm dreaming).
We've scheduled the Sunrise Safari for the morning after we arrive (1/6). DH is looking forward to this (he chose this over the Sunset one). We've been to Disney before, but not to AK.

I'll be the 6ft 3, 200lb blond-ish guy with the 3 kids (2 girls, 5 and 1, and a 3 yo boy) and my wife in tow. :)
We've eaten there a BUNCH of times and love it. It'll actually be our 2nd day in Orlando. We arrive on the 4th, but will be staying the first night at the Nickelodeon Hotel before moving over to a 1BR villa at AKL/AKV for the rest of the week. I'm driving down, too, from CT and the Nick Hotel is a nice option for my wife to keep the kids entertained while I simply sleep after 20 hours of driving. :)
We're going to do Boma's for breakfast one day as well (Wednesday, I think..but I can't remember exactly). It's our 2nd favorite breakfast on property (Tonga Toast at the Kona Cafe in the Poly is our fav). You should be OK for walk ups for breakfast. We've done that a bunch of times (though not this time..we have ADR's).
If you're willing to do "off hours", you will almost definitely get into most places. Le Cellier, Chef Mickey's and the like might be tough.....but given the time of year, we've found MOST places have room for some walk ups. You might wait awhile (45 min or so) or you might be seated right away, but you'll likely get in if you have your heart set on a place.
I'm hoping crowds are light, too. USUALLY that time of year we've found that they are. Some of it depends on convention traffic, but so soon after New Years, that's probably not going to be a big concer.

I can't believe we're leaving in 3 1/2 weeks!!! We're staying offsite for seven nights from January 17th to the 24th then heading down to Anna Maria Island (near Sarasota) to relax for three days and visit my family members who live in Sarasota.
26 days and I had barely noticed!!!! Things have been so crazy I guess it helps. I work and go to graduate school at night (it's a program right in between part-time and full-time) and, of course, have the husband and the kids. My semester just ended a couple of weeks ago and I've been working about 50 hours a week since then!
I guess it's helping time pass. Good thing I made all of our arrangements some time ago...all the way down to the grocery list! The last thing I have to do is order DD5's birthday cake. (She'll turn 6 while we're on the trip.)
We've had a really, really tough year and we deserve this vacation. NOW I'm starting to get excited just talking about it!!! After Christmas passes, I'm going to start my packing list. :woohoo:

In 1983 My wife and I flew from California to WDW for our honeymoon! Now 25 years later we're celebrating again. Three nights, four days at Wilderness Lodge, and it looks like the weather will be nice.
We now live in Indianapolis, and it's been VERY cold here the last two days. I feel a little smug, knowing that I'll be in 70 degree weather next week, enjoying the pleasures of Wilderness Lodge, Artist Point, a Carriage ride through the woods, and the best of MK and Epcot!

You can't beat it. We arrived just as the cold snap was ending and will be leaving just as the cooler weather comes back in this weekend.
I don't know if it "broke" 80 today, but I bet it was pretty close. And the humidity hasn't been bad, either.
I don't know if I can go back to CT..which has been warm this week (40's and 50's) but looks to head back to the deep freeze just as we get back home.

Saturday at AK and Sunday at MK...crowds were nuts...ESPECIALLY at AK on Saturday when waits for Everest were about 80 minutes and the walkways were a mass of humanity. MK was better on Sunday, but waits were noteable by the afternoon.
SINCE then...dead. Hollywood studios yesterday was relatively slow, and AK today was pretty much dead. Waits at Everest, when we left around 2 PM, were around 20 to 30 minutes. Everything else was practically a walk on. We're back at MK tomorrow...if it's busy, I'll let you know.

The weather forecast for this weekend (when we arrive for 8 nites) keeps changing. First definate rain, now 30 - 40 % chance. High 60's low 70's are fine for us, I'm just worried about 7 days of rain. Could some January regular visitors or Orlando area residents tell me what I should expect based on the forecast? Is is likely that the forecast will clear up quicker than currently showing???
Thanks

We were supposed to depart here at 5:30 am Jan 19th and arrive in Orlando by 11:40am...totally excited! Everything was going perfectly and running as smooth as ever, until I got my e-mail yesterday saying that NWA had to change our flights due to a "scheduling conflict" and they were going to fly us out in the early evening on Jan 18th, HAVE US SPEND THE NIGHT (they weren't going to pay for our hotel that night) in our connecting city (what a HUGE hassle!!! We have an almost 4 year old and an almost 6 year old) and fly us into Orlando Jan 19th in the LATE AFTERNOON (4ish!)
Well, I was so furious, I spent 1/2 of the day of the phone yesterday! NOW- we finally got everything figured out again!
we fly out on Jan 17th on a direct flight leaving at 7:45 in the morning and arriving at 10:55 am( on a different airline, NWA "took care of it" I had to fight them most of the day yesterday to get treated with the respect that we, as loyal customers, deserve!!!) and I called Disney to let them know- THANK GOODNESS I made the entire reservation through Disney World on line and on the phone!!!! They made it SO SUPER EZ for us and just added the 2 extra nights, 2 extra days of tickets (the extra ticket days were not much more per person, what a deal!)
So, now I am back to being excited again! And, even though we are ticked at NWA, we actually get to spend two extra days (who can complain?) at the best place on earth! NWA can stick it- I don't plan on using them for ANYTHING anymore (other than using up all of our frequent flier miles!!!) Then, NWA no more for this family. They changed our flights 4 times in the last 3 months! This "over night" scheduled BY THEM in our connecting city was not going to work for this family!
WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!!!! I don't know who's more excited! My DH and I or our girls...We are staying at Port Orleans for the first two nights- then moving over to our FAVORITE RESORT at Disney! AKL, here we come! I cannot believe how long we'll be there! 17th-30th! That's almost 1/2 of a month! Good thing DH gets all of those vacation days!
We have the hopper and more tickets, first time for that!
