Congrats! That looks like a lab to me. If so, you can almost guarantee that it is going to be a good dog. As a puppy, they need plenty of exercise to burn up all their energy though. I grew up with great danes and they were good dogs, but nothing compares to our lab we have now. Every one of them I have come across has been very intelligent and very well behaved.

Absolutely adorable! paw:

Be sure to pick up a copy of Good Owners, Great Dogs by Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson - it will be an invaluable resource for years to come (they also have a good puppy book out now, too).

Oh my gosh!!! I think I'm in love again!!! We lost our chocolate lab in May, after 12 wonderful years of love and bliss!! (okay - sometimes, the bliss was a bit challanged!!:goodvibes ) My kids and dh have been talking about another puppy, and seeing those eyes again makes me want to cave!!! What a beautiful dog!! Enjoy taking photos of him, he'll make a great model!!!:cool1:

Congratulations! Chocolate labs are the BEST! They are quite smart and, as I'm sure you know already, so lovable. Ours was very easy to train - she was housebroken very quicky and knew all basic commands within 4 weeks of us getting her (we got ours at 7 weeks old). Love the picture - I take it that was the first bath upon homecoming, we have almost an identical picture of ours!

Yes she is a little love ball, working on the housebroken and the commands. She is already pretty good during the day, but doesn't know about either waking us up, or holding it overnight...lol

And yes that was right before and after her first bath, that's another great thing about labs is since they love the water, bath time isn't an issue

So where are new pictures? She must be at that great real gawky looking age by now! Believe it or not, ours hates baths. She'd live in the water otherwise (even in the winter - we have pictures of her with icicles hanging off of her face because she couldn't resist jumping in), but hates bathtime. Go figure??

When I read the subject of this thread, I thought "Now, he didn't go and have a baby just to practice taking pictures, did he? That's just taking this hobby a bit too far." I'm glad to see that you took the practical approach to better photography, but I think puppies are even harder models than infants. Always pros and cons, huh?

Beautiful pup. We have a 3 y.o. female choc. lab. Hershey. She's a wonderful dog. She another that absolutely HATES baths. I get that 'please no' look when I bring her into the bathroom. She will jump into any other body of water and the dirtiest, muckiest mud hole around and wallow in it but hates a bath. Good thing about being dk brown? The mud doesn't show much- til it gets on the carpet. Great dog, best buddy, tho.

I would agree that what DueyDooDah thought at first is very funny. The shame is, people have been known to do things like that.

Cool picture of the boys and Belle. She looks so much like my dog. How old is she now? We have an amusement park here in Salem that does allow pets on a leash, tho, I've never brought my dog. She would be way to crazy and I wouldn't be able to go on the rides.

There is actually a Kennel at Disney, so since she isn't a working dog she isn't allowed in the parks, but I think it is great exposure to be around all the people.

She is 4 1/2 months now, but she was about 3 when that picture was taken.
