I am thinking of getting one of these for my hols, especially the flight.:rotfl2:

Does anyone have one and could recommend it? I particularly want to know if it has a bookmark function and a timer function so it can switch itself off after a certain number of minutes?

Also how easy is it to download music, audio books, videos ?

thanks

Linda

I have ordered the 505 Archos 160 GB and it is due for delivery to the shops on the 6th September ( only just out). I have ordered it as the screen is 4 1/2 inch as opposed to my ipod video which is about 2 1/2 inch.

I can let you know after I have played around with it.

Hi Linda. You can download the manual (PDF File) from Archos.com just follow support/downloads/product manuals select portable video and look for AV500. I have the AV700 I only use it for video. you can connect straight to DVD player and record to the archos while you watch a film.

I have an AV704 wifi and DW has an AV504.

They are both excellent machines (the 504 is the upgrade from the 500 and has a better screen).

Yes they do have bookmark functions and do have time-off functions.

The quality of the audio and video is excellent. However, to back-up dvds you need to purchase a software plug-in for approx 14.

Another big plus - you can plug your digital camera into them and download from your card (you may need the optional docking station for the 500).

You'll get about 4.5 hours video or 20 hours audio before you need to recharge. Not too sure about the 500, but the 504 will only charge via the USB unless you get the docking station (this will come with a nifty little plug that allows you to plug into UK, Europe and US).
