Hi,
My son is practising writing out his visa waiver form. He is flying by himself to Detroit on Saturday and has asked me what he will need to put on the section 'city where you boarded'. Does he put Gatwick or London or LGW. Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Bev

We put London 18 months ago, only time we ever flew from there. Same when we used Heathrow last Oct.

Thanks Claire and Wayne.:) My son is just trying to prepare everything. First big trip by himself, off visiting friends up in Minneapolis. I told him someone would be able to help here.:goodvibes

Make sure your son knows about the possibility of a secondary screening if he has a newish passport. At least then he will be prepared as a precaution and won't get any shocks.
Hope he has a happy and safe trip. :)

Thanks Frances. Just returned from Orlando on 16th August. The youngest son's passport was flagged up (didn't realise it initially because we were told it was our lucky day we had been selected for a random bag check). In the secondary screening area we were told our bags didn't need to be searched but it was the youngest's son's passport that had been flagged. The woman we spoke to was lovely as were the other immigration officers, we just presumed because it was a different passport to the one he had used the previous 2 years it had been flagged. So yes the eldest is aware.
We are more concerned that he may be stopped because he has only been home for 2 weeks, is travelling alone and is a student. I am getting him to take documentation to prove that he is returning to England to continue his studies. He is visiting a couple of US students he made friends with when they came to his uni for a while after Christmas and they have invited him over to experience Minneapolis student life. It is a great opportunity for him to experience the real America.:)
