As a 'VIRGIN' Virgin Flyer until a month ago...... I joined the FFC and have claimed my wifes and my miles, when I returned.
How does the Miles and Money system actually work :confused3
Can someone explain in easy terms, what I need to do when looking for future flights ;)

Thanks :thumbsup2

In simple terms every time you fly with Virgin or one of their partner airlines, you will be awarded a certain number of miles for your outbound & return flights.
Each person must claim their "own" miles, ie. you can't claim for other people in your party who may not be members of the FFC.

Once you have banked a few miles you can go to the Virgin Atlantic site & click the link for "miles plus money" ... It will give you a reduced price for the flight depending how many miles you have banked that you want to exchange.
My friend has done this recently, and the price was good, BUT he had to do it seperately for each member of his family using their FFC accounts..
The system said seats were not available for all of them & he ended up talking to VA customer services to get it all sorted out..

As a member you will get e-mails offering you specials such as flights for half the usual miles, but we are still talking 22,000 plus miles for one of these free fares!

I have been collecting for some years & just have enough myself for one now..
The other thing you can do is put them towards upgrading to the next class ie premier or business..

All in all a good scheme, but like I said keep an eye out for specials..

Hope this helps, Hazel:)

Do your claimed miles have an expiry date, or can you keep them for how long you choose ?

Log onto your Fc account on the Virgin Atlantic website (You may need to set up your online account first)
when you have done that, on the left hand side of the screen under "Flying club" will be a link to "Miles plus Money"
That will give you an overview of how many miles per class of ticket you need plus a link to search for M+M offers.

Well I have been a member now for 4 yrs & I beleive that as long as you complete at least one flight every 3 years or so you never lose your miles...

I am sure somone will be able to confirm that for me...

Not quite correct, as long as your account is activated some time in a 3 year period then this renews your miles.
This can be a car hire, hotel stay, wine club, purchase your miles and many more opportunities, look at the partner details on the virgin website.

If you have completed a flight to Orlando you should have enough miles to use for a M+M deal, but you need to keep your eyes open for the best deals.

Any airmiles I've spent to date have been under my account and purchased for myself and 3 others flying at the same time with no problems.

for an example of Miles+Money costs:

we fly return Barbados to London Upper Class using M+M every 8 months,

2 adults, 2 children, 50,000 miles + 980 per adult, 805 per child.

if we did Premium Economy it would be only half that price and less miles used, so very cheap too.
