Fun Things For Plane Ride There

what are some things to do on the plane/car ride to the world :) i would love to know what you all do to keep yourselves entertained on your flight/drive :)

DVD player.
Color wonder and puzzle books. Window clings (stick well to airplane windows!).

For myself, I bring a good book. I usually don't get to read it much though because I'm too busy entertaining the kids. For the kids, I bring:

Portable DVD player
Assortment of Disney DVD's - Target carries a line of Disney cartoon classics that are perfect for this!
Handheld video games - we have Leapster and Pixter
Color Wonder markers & coloring book - Disney themed of course!
Books to read
Birnbaums WDW for Kids by Kids - DD8's favorite book
Disney Stickers - DD3 likes to stick them on herself and other people (my apologies to whoever may sit within her reach)
Snacks - fruit snacks and raisins are great because they are small and chewy since DD3 is too little for gum during ascent/descent

Wow, that sounds like a lot of stuff, but it really isn't that much. Usually I I will toss in a couple of surprises for the kids in my carryon, such as the stickers, coloring book & snacks, and maybe a new DVD or game for their handheld. I stock up on these things when they are on sale. The Disney Store right now has stationery sets on clearance for $2.99, and small digital cameras for $15.99. They also have character-themed twist-up crayons for I think $2.99.

I hope I gave you some good ideas! I wasn't sure if you were talking about fun things for yourself or for kids, I know most of my ideas are for kids. I'm usually either too busy taking care of the kids or I entertain myself just by looking out the window & people-watching. DD3 also loves to read "the airplane book", aka the safety manual on the plane. She loves the pictures of the people sliding out the emergency exits.

We use to take the DVD Player, but the girls really were not interested in watching the DVDs...Here is what we do take...

-Color Wonder Markers and Books
-V-Smile handheld game and games to go with it
-Books and now my daugthers love Hi-Lights
-Little figurines

With all of the above the girls are pretty busy! :)

DW same on her Zune.

And ME PSP all the way watchiong a movie or playing one of my games.

Or we just sleep as it's normally real early on the way down or late after a week at WDW on the flight back home.

Ah yes, sleep... my all-time favorite airplane activity! Doesn't work so well on road trips though, since I'm always the driver.

DD: iPod, Nintendo DS
(But I think for b-day in October I will get her a portable DVD and she can take that next trip)

we too just bought the DVD player and boy do we love it (well my dh more then I) but its great... We also bring a map of the parks w/ us so we can get really really excited before we get there. Kids love picking out places they want to go and things they want to see... :)

Let's see, we've brought books, puzzle books, PSP, DVD player, CD' players etc. Pretty much whatever strikes us as something to do for our plane ride.

We finally bought those portable DVD players. Two of them, and it has been a real sanity saver. It helps the time pass quickly and for car trips, it really keep the kids entertained. I wish we'd had them sooner.
