ohMom,

First of all, I have my 305 set to "auto lap" for 1 mile.

Here is how I use Garmin Training Center:

Set the upper left tab to "history"

In the upper right window, I set the tab to "totals" and monitor the following:

total distance
total time
average pace
average speed
maximum speed
total calories
average heart rate
maximum heart rate

Since the 305 is set to auto lap at 1 mile intervals, there is a record of how I did for each mile and for the total distance. I can then compare laps.

The bottom part to the upper right window shows items used in the lower right window placed into respective training zones.

In the lower right window I set the graph to "distance" and monitor heart rate and pace on the left and speed and % max heart rate on the right.

Occasionally, I go back to previous runs and compare stats with current runs to get an idea of improvement.

I hope this helps a little.

I have not figured out how to get my 305 to auto-lap in this window. It only shows lap points when I push the lap button. How can I set it up to auto-lap at 1 mile?

I have not figured out how to get my 305 to auto-lap in this window. It only shows lap points when I push the lap button. How can I set it up to auto-lap at 1 mile?

Push the "Mode" button to bring up the Menu screen
Scroll down to highlight "Training"
Push "Enter"
Highlight "Training Options"
Push "Enter"
Highlight "Auto Lap"
Push "Enter"
Highlight "By Distance"
Push "Enter"
Highlight "1 Mile"
Push "Enter"
Push "Mode" button 4 times

Now you will automatically record data in 1 mile "lap" segments

Happy training

Thanks!

I have been trying how to do this with the software. I guess I should have checked the hardware.
