I love AA, so when I found the flights I wanted for $200, I booked them.
Notice I say, the flights I wanted. Last year, I spent $230. I could have waited around, spent days researching, and saved a whopping $20, on another flight, another airline, or another flight time. It is nice to know that it is done!:yay:

I'm still making myself crazy obsessing about airfares.

Right now the cheapest I can get from JFK, Laguardia or Islip is $219-- either American or Delta.

Southwest, Spirit and Jetblue haven't opened up their summer rates yet.

I know I should just be patient (and go clean my house already!) :laundy: but I really want to get a good rate, and I want it NOW!!!

We reserved our next trip while at WDW two weeks ago in order to take advantage of the bounceback program. 40% off!!!! August 11-16 at VWL (one bedroom!). It's helped with the Disney blues knowing that another trip is in the future.

Well, it's official! DD6 and I are going back August 13-21. I booked flights today, $118 RT from Newark (more with all the taxes). I haven't decided on resort yet.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I haven't told her a thing about it--the trip is going to be a Christmas surprise. She is obsessed with Ratatouille, so I think I am going to make up a box with a bunch of stuff in it and an "invitation" to visit WDW from Remy! It's already hard to keep my mouth shut...

Is that the $148 flight I'm seeing from Continental? I've been hemming and hawing about booking it, since it will cost a fortune to get to Newark from Long Island. But it's a lot to save for the 5 of us..:confused3

Taking our first trip to WDW August 17 - 23. We will be staying at WL. We haven't purchased air yet - but DH snagged 3 free round trip tickets in the continental US so we will only have to actually pay for 1 ticket!!

We're going in August too!

I know some people were asking about getting the AAA discount before. I just called today (11-26-07 ) and booked a room only, water view at the CSR for 7 nights (July 28 - Aug 4, 2008). Standard price was $1551 but it went down $181 to $1370 with the 15% AAA discount. I spoke with Damien at 10am central time today (Monday). There was no wait time on the phone at all, he picked right up. He was very friendly, asking me how cold it was in the Chicago area today. He welcomed us back for our 6th trip and thanked us for our business.

I figured out all the money angles ( ) and our best deal is the AAA 15% discount on room only and then buying our Hopper passes online at www.floridaorlandotickets.net ....

We loved the Dining Plan in 2006, but I figured out the costs at the same restaurants (I checked the notes from our last trip and then viewed the current menus online) and without the appetizer and the tip, the new '08 plan would not be a value for us.

If we could have gone just exactly one week later (but we can't due to my DW's work schedule), we would have saved another $221 because it would have been both a cheaper "season" and the AAA discount goes up to 20% then! Darn! Oh well, gotta go when ya gotta go!

I think I better get our tickets in case the price goes up after the first of the year. The website f.o.t. seems to have the best deal on tickets.

Then I gotta book Disney's Vero Beach Resort because we drive there after WDW!

After five driving trips to Orlando in '02, '03, '04, '05 and '06, we really missed it this year ('07) because DW was getting her Master's Degree.

But we're going back with a vengeance in '08!!!

This will be our first repeat stay at a WDW resort and we chose the Coronado Springs Resort! We sat down and all three of us decided we liked it the best!

By the way, we picked up our Christmas tree yesterday and decorated our home, so now we're in the spirit of the holidays and Disney World!

Can there be such a thing as too much Mickey?

I think it ended up being about $140 or so with the taxes added in. I can't remember the exact numbers now--it was less than $300 for both round trips total. We are lucky because we can take the New Jersey transit commuter train to the airport (we live only a couple of blocks from our station). Have you looked into taking PATH from the city or one of the shuttle buses from Port Authority? (Kids ride free on those buses, if you have young ones) That might work if you can get into the city, and they don't cost too much.

Which weeks in August are "value" season? Lower crowds? I know that ALL of August will be hot and sticky, but our annual May trip looks like it won't be possible this year due to schedule's!!

Anasmom
12-17-2007, 07:13 AM
For value & moderate resorts, value season starts August 3rd. The whole month of August is value season for deluxe resorts. Crowds get smaller the later in August you go as more schools start classes.

Add me and DS to the August list. We will be going 8/3 to 8/17 staying at Pop with AAA discount. Then we are going back at the end of the month on 8/30 for a week of free dining we got from the bounceback last September. We got an AP on our last trip and are determined to use it to it's fullest.

I am hoping that the beginning of August will be a bit less busy since the free dining doesn't start till 8/30 this year. We went in August of 06 and it was not crowded at all till the day free dining started then it was crazy busy.

I think we've narrowed down the week. We have AAA should I book now with that and if a better "Code" comes out then switch? We are thinking of WL. We've stayed at Dixie Landings, ASmovies, ASmusic, French Quarter, and POP. We figure if we go during Value season, we should try a Deluxe!

It was a email from Disney that has a code that is attached to your name and I've been reading on the boards that not everyone got them and if they tried to use someone's code the CM's say they can't. I even read where it was someone's sister and they said no that the sister would have to go with and have the reservation in her name. Sorry.

Add us to the list for August 23-30. Here is the rundown:

8/23-24 ASMusic
8/24-26 AKV Savannah View
8/26-28 AKV Concierge (Sunrise Safari!)
8/28-30 POR

I know, I know, it seems crazy. :faint: I wanted AKV concierge for 4 nights but it was not available until 8/26 so that is why the 2 different AKV ressies. Originally planned to arrive 8/24 and leave 8/31. Then found a good airfare but had to do 8/23 to 30 (both Saturdays). I could not pass up the savings because there are 7 of us going so it really adds up. So then I was stuck having to add rooms at the beginning as well as the end of the week. We are renting points for AKV so can't cancel or change that. Not the best plan but our family likes to resort hop anyway so we will be fine.

Awsome, maybe we will meet up at the pool or something. My DS is 13 too and his favorite thing is to hang at the pool in the afternoon. He makes friends with everyone there too. Last year he became good friends with a boy from England and his little brother who always seemed to be in the pool at the same times we were. Last year there were a couple of meets by the Hippy Dippy pool with some disers late at night. It was a lot of fun if you were around you could just join in. We will have to keep in touch.

Karyl,
You can come have the stuff. I have been out shoveling it and discovered it is more like 10-12 inches and not fun when your back hurts. :crazy2: Hey it is a blessing that DS has a snow day so he could help shovel though. It is much prettier than the winter grass and mud. Gotta find a bright side. :sunny: I work from home anyway so I will be working anyhow though. You have fun at work. :car:

Unfortuantly, they haven't posted the actual EMH yet just what parks have EMH so just go with what you have and I am sure they will post the actual hours soon. Keep in mind that they sometimes change some of the EMH parks about 2-4 months before.

I am sure someone will post here when the hours for EMH are listed.

Hey good news about the EMH hours. If you look at July's schedule the EMH parks are the same for the first 3 weeks or so of August so I would bet the AM and PM parks are the same too. Just click on the bottom of the day that shows EMH for a park and it will pull up the EMH hours through July and get it from there.

I've found today when each park has Extra Magic Hours but it doesn't say morning or evening. Has anyone found that for August and if so can you tell me where to look? Thank you!

I'm only seeing July, so obviously I'm looking in the wrong place.

Can someone post a link so I can get an idea? We have 2 more weeks till we make our ADRs, and I really would love to get a better idea.

Thanks!

We are going August 10 - 17, staying at BC. We had planned for June, but I just booked the bounceback offer when I was at Disney last week :cheer2:

So, this will be our first time going in August, we went last July mid month and were honestly surprised the heat and crowds were not too bad. We arrived at the parks early, drank lots of water ordered from Garden Grocer, rested or did the pool in the afternoon and back in parks in the evenings. Anybody gone to Disney on a previous August trip have any additional advice?

Based on last year, it looks like they might flip the EMH around the last couple of weeks of August so it is hard to be sure which is AM and which is PM, but I think you can count on MK being am on Thursday and pm on Sunday. Also, MK closed at 7pm on the last couple of Fridays for Pirate and Princess Party last year. This year they are showing open until 10pm, but beware that it is possible that they could add P&PP again and those hours could change.

Thanks for the advice - I have a terrible memory, so I can't rememer when the EMH were last year when we went. I didn't even consider the P&PP - but I'm actually hoping for that because I'd love to go again! :goodvibes

Hey everyone, just wanted to let all those waiting for EMH times for Aug like myself that wdw info just posted this: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/earlyentry.htm

I'm not sure how accurate this is because nothing is on the disney website yet, but at least those who have to make ADRs will have something to go by

Went over Christmas 2005 and stayed off of the property. This time just doing the Disney stuff. My husband and I will be celebrating our 15th annv. and the only thing I really wanted to do is eat at Cinderella's Royal Table. So that was the first dinner reservation that we made.:cheer2: :cheer2:

Kids & I just got back from 9 beautiful days in Disney with the Flu :sad1:
The saving grace was that we had rented villa units... those kitchenettes are wonderful.

I changed our passes over to APs and rescheduled the fun for August 27-Sept 1st (bounceback) - We've gone several times before in August & loved it, NEVER had health issues. :thumbsup2

6 months 3 days to go! Planning our PSRs now:

* Chef Mickeys is a MUST (as we missed ours, and we wouldn't have enjoyed it even if we had made it)

* San Angel Inn - summertime, margaritas, AC, need I say more?

* Rainforest Cafe Breakfast (AK)

* ??? - open.

Does anyone know which parks should be the best bet on which days for the week of August 10-17? And could you give me your reasoning for how you have determined this?

I couldn't tell you which parks are best. The way I do my parks is by looking at the Early Entry park of the day. I go to that park that day & leave by mid-day/lunch time or just before & head back to either Epcot or MK at night.

I like to go early, hit the rides (I have 3 kids-7, 4 & 2) & leave during the high sun time & watch the crowds walk in as I am happily leaving.

BTW, I am getting excited since August is coming, August is coming...YAY!

Photopass is free unless you want to buy pictures what they are referring to is the cd that you can purchase with all of your pics it is like 125 dollars but there is no limit how many pics etc so ppl go in on it together but agree on a date to eneter there photopass card on the computer and it is much cheaper than buying even one pic most times! Like i am in a group of 10 and we all paid $14 this covers the CD and shipping costs for the OP to send my cd to me! and the cost of more cd's to make copies for everyone.Hope this helps I'm in the learning process also! on this subject.
