Day 5 -- Monday, March 12
Cast:
Me, DH K-man, DS J-boy (age 5), and DS The Beast (age 2, almost 3)
Off to the Cape May for a ârealâ breakfast!
Minnie is âholding courtâ in the lobby. I love Minnieâs shoes. I want a big pair of yellow high heels. They are just too, too cool.
The characters were Goofy, Chip and Dale. Of all the character meals weâve been to (Artist Point and Chef Mickeyâs), this had the best interaction. We saw everyone at least 3 times. Chip (or was it Dale?) spoon fed a birthday cupcake to J-boy. Goofy âstoleâ Mouse Ears. CMs gathered to sing Happy Birthday. Overall a great time. Pretty good buffet food, but great characters.
When we get back to the room, there is a string trio practicing for another wedding right below our window. The music sounds so beautiful. K-man and I start joking that they couldnât, wouldnât play Beauty and the Beast. It would be inappropriate for a wedding. Whoâs the Beast? would be the guestâs question! We laughed. The trio turned the page and sure enough....itâs Beauty and the Beast.
But that wasnât the worst song they practiced. They also played Whistle While you Work. When do they play that, during the kiss??
Oh well, Iâve probably just insulted one of your weddings. Sorry.
We checked out before the actual ceremony and heading toward the Florida Mall looking for the Play Mobil Fun Park store. If your kids arenât into Play Mobil toys, they are about 3â action figures that are perpetually smiling. We have a few. Preschool has more. Theyâre super high quality, are not tied to any TV show, and are just plain cute.
Well, the boys play for about 45 minutes, and I drop about $35 (some of it is birthday presents).
To the airport....a totally uneventful trip back. Thatâs the best kind of plane trip.
Home again, home again to snowy, cold Ohio.
Final Thoughts:
WDW vacations with minimal parks is Fun and Relaxing. Iâd do it again in a second. Iâm a âcommandoâ Type-A person by nature, so it was hard to relax, but well worth it.
The difference between taking a 4 1/2 year old and a 5 year old is huge! He walked, he didnât whine nearly so much. Tons more fun.
EE! EE! EE! What isnât there to love?
Aggressive birds must die!
WDW really went all out making J-boyâs birthday âmagicalâ. The special comments, cupcakes and presents from Captain Bob were more than I ever imagined.
We accumulated 5 soaps. If you figure out the price per soap....no I wonât do it, itâs too depressing.
Why canât a first class hotel offer first class tissues? Come on, Mr. Eisner, spring for real Kleenex or Puffs!
The YC front desk was iffy. They didnât know where I could get fill-ups on the refillable mugs, they didnât know how to get checkers, .... Ok, but not terrific.
I missed a âRoaring Forksâ type place to eat or grab snacks. I know they want me to snack from the mini-bar, but frankly...there are no Mickey-Bars in the mini-bar. Also, when we got a Fairy Godmother sitter, I had to walk all the way to the Boardwalk Bakery to get a light supper for the boys. Yes, I could have ordered room service, but.....
This trip had great character interaction.
How does anyone go to the World without the DIS? Iâve been lurking for about 9 or 10 months, and just felt I had a real leg up on the average tourist. If knowledge is power, you have made me powerful. Thanks.
