~Designers message to all Disign Board Visitors!! Please read~

Dear Disign thread visitors.

The designers on the Disboard are a busy bunch of people.
We love designing and making other people happy, spreading pixie dust and making trips special by adding a little bit of magic to your vacations.
What you might not know is that there is a lot of time and effort put into the designs.
If we do not have something you request, we go out of our way to come up with something special for you and a lot of times we even create new things because they were requested.
We really do not want to let anyone down and we work hard, sometimes even too hard, to please as many people as we can.
It is a lot of work and we do not get paid so we do this from the kindness of our hearts, without expecting anything in return.
We spend hours upon hours a day and never really get caught up with the requests because once we have them finished, we will have more and new requests waiting for us.
However…..

We have noticed recently that there are a few people who decide to request the same design from more than one designer.
On top of the boards, on the design tips thread, this message is posted:

Please do not request the same design from multiple designers – they have a lot of requests and do not want to be duplicating each other’s work – in addition – it can take a while to design a custom shirt and asking two people to design a shirt and only choosing one is wasting the other designers time.

Please consider this as you continue to ask the fellow designers to design this same design over and over again.
If you want to request a specially made design , please request from one designer and one designer only. You are free to request more designs and even from more designers, but please DO NOT ask more designers to make you something that is pretty much simular, and choose the one you like best!
By asking more designers to create the same thing for you, you are taking time away which could be spent on filling requests and making more people happy!!
Also, you can sometimes choose only one design to wear which will mean, the other designer's work will not be used, which really is a shame since so much time and effort has gone into the design.

I do not have an ongoing thread and fill the majority of my requests by PM only, and there is nothing more disheartening than periodically browsing through the other designers' threads to find the exact same requests posted on these threads because someone has asked us both (or more, who knows?) to do the exact same design.

Realistically, there is no way to police this problem as many people PM requests and others just don't have the time to browse others' threads too often (or at all!!).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not duplicate requests!!

Another issue I think should be added, IMO, is the requesting of blank copies of a design. I feel this is inappropriate as sometimes the designer has spent hours piecing together the layout and design of a design. I'm sure any one of the designers would be happy to customize a design.

I may be the only one who feels this way:confused3 and others can give away their blanks if they wish, but I feel this is also a problem.

I am guilty of requesting some blank designs, especially some that say MNSSHP and have a year on them. I wanted to have some shirts for other nights when we were there, not just the MNSSHP night. My requests were never made with the intent of selling the deisgn or shirts made from the design or taking advantage of the generosity of the designer. I am really sorry if this was a no-no.

I might also like to mention that I have sometimes been aghast at the amount of designs that some people request, I have seen some people make requests for up to 15 or more names :eek: I just don't think I would have the nerve to do that. In my opinion, it is very inconsiderate.

Why would people request a design from more than one designer? Just to see who comes up with what?

I, myself, am very jealous of the talent that you designers have and would not ever want to do anything to cause you to stop sharing your creativity with the rest of us.

I may be one of the guilty parties and am terribly sorry if so. I recently requested a variation on a design that someone had done for me. A freind wanted something similiar but not the exact one I had. I could not remember which designer had made the first design so I just requested another from one of the designers hoping it wouldn't be a problem. You guys are all great and I have been collecting from this forum since 2005. I have so many picture's that when I bring up the folder and running through the preview everyone runs as if they are being made to sit through vacation photo's. It may be because as each picture come's up I have to give a commentary, Why I had it made, when I plan to wear it and or what trip this was from, this is what I had done for so and so, Oh and this was for MOM's BD. :rotfl: :rotfl: ................. Just to clarify, it's not the fact that someone requests designs without a name. I totally understand not wanting a name on a shirt.

I guess it depends on the design, but let's say a request for a blank invitation. The designer could easily add the words for you and know that the design is only being used for the implied purpose. Some people have been burned on these pages giving out blank designs that go out without any indication of who put the actual design together. I know this issue goes way back before my time and has even pushed away some really great designers!!!

I have appreciated everyone's help in designing shirts for when Steffy and I went in 2005 and then went I went in 2006. Now she and I are going this October and I cannot wait to wear a few shirts again because they are so timeless. We will also be wearing a new design and I cannot wait to post pictures. I have even had a shirt designed for my Pal Mickey. I just wish I had an ounce of talent all of our designers have.

Don't worry about it !
you are allowed to ask different designers for their designs!
the only thing is that some designers have been asked to create the same thing, that is the problem.
like say: someone asked me to make a belle in a blue outfit with some wording...
Amy gets asked to make a same design, blue belle with wording..
and yet another designer, say Maria or Kari or Beth.. gets asked the same thing, so we are all taking time out for the same design, and only 1 can be used...

So feel free to ask as many designs as you like, just not the same designs :thumbsup2

Look around on the different threads or in the DISIGN Gallery sticky at the top of this board. When you see something you like just post or PM the designer to customize it for you. Hope this helps. Welcome to the board!:goodvibes

I believe this thread is in regards to me. I recently had 2 designers design the same thing for me. I however did it for a reason. I am going to be wearing one and my DBF will be wearing the other. He agreed to wearing similar shirts, but refuses to do matching. I am guilty of requesting the same design from more than one designer recently. To be specific, I requested my daughters name in bubble letters with only Sleeping Beauty in it from Michelle and from Amy. I am terribly sorry if I offended anyone, but I intend to use both of them b/c my DD is a Sleeping Beauty freak!!! She is in a stage where all she wants to wear are her Sleeping Beauty shirts or her Sleeping Beauty Princess dress. When she saw her name done with all of the princesses she asked if she could have one with just Sleeping Beauty in it, so I thought it would be fun to have one for a t-shirt and one for a night gown, just wanted a little difference in them!! Again, I am sorry if I offended anyone, but I do totally intend to use both designs from both designers!!!

I think I am guilty of asking more than one designer to do something for me, I am so sorry, I didn't mean to. The designs that I have requested are for my use only and to hopefully make our upcoming trip special for my grandsons. I really do appreciate all of ya'lls hard work in designing these for me and everyone else. I have started to work on these things for them and hope that I can keep them a secret until we go in late Sept.

I have a quandry. I requested a couple of designs a couple of weeks ago. I now have the transfer paper to print the disigns. I cannot find the T-shirt disigns now.At the the same time I requested money envelope disigns. That post is listed on the posts I've made. I figured if I went in to see what posts I made (I only have 3 pages worth) I could find the thread again. The money envelope thread is listed for disigns, but no other. Could the entire thread have been deleted? Or is there another way I could search for it. I just don't want to request more disigns from another disigner and break the rules of the board. Thanks for your help!

ETA: Naturally, 5 minutes after posting this I found them, but they do not show up on my lists of posts. Is there a reason that would happen?

I already have PSCS because I do photography as a hobby and for pay sometimes, so I know some about PS but the graphics is all new to me. I am glad you all share your tips and information as well. I plan on using some of the graphics you share and trying to learn to edit them myself, that is ok I hope?

One thing I would like to mention is a book on PS by Scott Kelby, I bought for photography but it has a lot of graphic tutorials in it Photoshop 7 Down and Dirty Tricks. His books are easy to read and follow. It is on PS7 but if you know PS at all you can use it with most other ones too.

You should not be sorry at all. You did everything completely right. If you post a general request and more than one designer responds, that is their choice.

This thread was started because we had some people who would request a design in a designers thread and then go to one, two or three more other designers' threads and ask them to create the same design. Then they would CHOOSE which one they liked better. It was purely disrespectful and a waste of the designers time and effort.

This is not at all what you did and you have no reason to be sorry. When numerous designers come to your aid - that is just the product of a really caring bunch of people who are willing to help. That is the reason why I joined and continue to enjoy this corner of the boards. Enjoy your designs!

I'm making shirt for 6 people for 8 days each so that is a total of 48 shirts. If you look further down from this post, there are many threads in which you will find tons of designs. Browse around in the threads and when you have found a design you like, post in that thread asking the designer for any needed customizations.

We are a very friendly bunch of people. We are glad you found our little corner of the boards! Welcome!

Browse these threads, when you find something you like, ask that disigner if they will customize it for you. When they do, you save it to your computer, print it on an iron-on sheet and volio! you have a custom tshirt.
Remember: always reverse the design before you print it, especially if it has a name on it.

PS - it's free! isn't that awesome? They do this cause they like to. Some do how web sites where you can send a donation if you like.

Hi folks,

I'm getting married in May, and one of the fabulous Dis-igners created artwork with Mickey and Minnie under Wedding bells that we used on our invitation. We wanted to give out some nice coffee mugs at the wedding, with the same artwork, but the company asked if we have permission from Disney to use Mickey and Minnie.

Does anyone know where I can get the permission?

I hope I didn't just offend someone. I sent a PM requesting a .doc file for binder sheets. That was before I read this post, and found out what this corner of DIS is all about.

I can't believe all the time that must go into custom designs for people. The DISigners must really love what they do. Keep up the goodwill, and thanks to all for what you do for us!

Hello, I was just directed to this wonderful group of talented designers. Wow, I am impressed!

I love Natalie's "passport 2" designs for World Showcase. The one I saw has 2008 on the cover. Is it available with 2009 on the cover?

If not already available, could that change be made by someone who knows how? I am technically challenged.:upsidedow

Hi everybody, I'm new to this board & wondering how I can get mickey head designs for our upcoming trip during which my son will turn 6, yay. Also, are there instructions somewhere for putting the designs onto shirts- (first time doing that as well)? Would love to get the following designs:

mickey head w/ Cinderella- Emma (in rainbow colors)
head w/ Green Tinkerbell- Missi (in green)
head w/ Mickey-Paul (red)
head w/ Star Wars figures-Cole (in blue)
head w/ Star Wars figures- IT'S MY B-DAY (done in blue w/ COLE on the right ear)
head w/ Goofy- Garrett
head w/ Pirate w/ bandana on head-Weslee
head w/ Blue Tinkerbell- Cindy (in blue)

Wow, I found the DISsign section of the dis a couple of weeks ago. You people rock my socks! I am amazed at how talented and creative some people are! I have requested a couple of DISsigns so far and am so grateful for everything you guys do. I also want to say, I have requested from different DISsigners, but NOT the same things. We are going to be in the world for a couple of days and I thought it would be cool if we wore personalized shirts each day. My twelve year old son is not as thrilled about this as the little ones ;) but he is thankful for the DISsigners hard work just like the rest of us! Missi, most of the DISsigners have their own thread. Browse through and when you find something you like, just ask nicely and most will personalize it for you. There's a LOT to look at, and the talent here will blow you away!

I absolutely love the designs. You are those most creative bunch! I was fortunate enough to get a few designs done in 2007 and we got nothing but RAVE reviews on our shirts. Unfortunately my camera was stolen and I lost all my photos - but I still have the shirts!!! We are heading back to WDW in early October and I am hoping that some pixie dust will be coming my way and I can get a couple of fantastic designs for this trip. THe whole family enjoys wearing them. THanks to all the designers for the magic that they do.

I just want to say that I haven't asked for any designs in over 3 years, however I want to tell you all what wonderful amazing work you do. I had two different designs made for our group of 11 in 2007. We are going back finally all of us. I can't wait to find new designs and create our matching shirts for this summer. This is part of what makes our trip so magical and unforgettable. Thanks to each of you who design for all of us to enjoy.

I am fairly new myself, but figuring it all out a little at a time. I am going to try to post a link to a thread that has almost all of the disigners listed - then you can click on their different links and places that their work is stored. I hope the it works!

Try this thread - it has great info. Someone did make the green mickey head - I have it saved, but I don't know how to insert it. I will keep looking for which disigner did it.
Be careful this is sooooooo adictive - I am on the computer every free moment - and some moments that aren't free - some things that need to get done don't always get done - but my kids have a backpack of really cool stuff for our trip in a few weeks.
