Since I enjoy reading everyone else's PJs and trip reports I thought I would start my own PJ. Let me start by introducing myself...my name is Liz and I am new to DIS but I am in love with it already! I have already learned so much from reading posts on here and the excitement over everyone's weddings/honeymoons/vow renewals is so infectious! :rotfl:
My DF, Tim, and I will be together for five years on September 10. I am still in disbelief that we will be together for half a decade since it seems like we just started dating. We met through an online dating service. I was 18 and he was 20 and we were basically just on there for fun and to see who from our town was also there (we went to the same high school but had never met--it was a big school!) I was mostly just a "lurker" on the site and didn't talk to anyone since I wasn't really trying to find a someone special. I didn't answer most messages that people sent me, but for some reason I wrote back to Tim and we made a date and the rest is history! We always say we must be soulmates to have found each other out of the millions of people who are online.
DF and I knew just over a year into our relationship that we wanted to get married. We went and looked at rings and I picked out a beautiful one by Tacori. He said that I would have to wait for it and boy did I!! I knew that he went back a few months later and bought it since he teased me constantly about it. He even blindfolded me one night and had me try the ring on for size before he got a diamond for it! I was going crazy with the anticipation! He would always tell me that he had the ring but I wasn't ever going to get it when I was expecting it...it would never be on my birthday, Christmas, or our anniversary. Meanwhile friends of ours who had started dating around the same time as us started getting engaged and there was the constant questioning from everyone we knew about when our time would be. I was really starting to feel like it might never happen and he would keep the ring hidden in his safe for the rest of our lives when......THE BIG DAY CAME!
It was our four year anniversary and we were going out to dinner to celebrate. We were running late as usual and we pulled out of the driveway when he said "oh I just have to stop at the neighbor's house to look at these trees he planted in the back field." (We used to spend a lot of time sitting in his car talking and gazing at the stars in this neighbor's field when we first started dating - it is a very special spot for us.) I was a little annoyed since we were going to be late to the restaurant just so he could look at some trees but I said it was alright. We drove up their long driveway and then he parked back by their barn and got out of the truck. He opened the door for me and told me to come out in the field with him. I didn't see any trees and I thought he might be up to something, but this was our anniversary so he couldn't possibly be doing what I hoped he might do, right??? WRONG! :yay:
We got a few steps out into the field when suddenly he turned around and got down on one knee and in an adorable, nervous voice he said that he loved me and asked if I would marry him. Then he tried to put the ring on my right hand (lol he was SO nervous, as if I might actually say no!) and I kept asking if he was serious because he always teased me about it and said never, ever on our anniversary! But, he was serious so of course I said YESSSSS!!! :dance3: Then we were hugging and crying and it was just so wonderful being in this very special spot on a beautiful September day holding the person I love more than anyone, knowing that we would be getting married and spending the rest of our lives together! Everyone was thrilled to find out that we finally got engaged after four years and then the questions began about when would the wedding be, where would it be, who's invited, etc.
Big decisions! This is where I will pick up later on. I hope you enjoyed hearing the beginning of our story as much as I loved telling it! Here's a couple pictures of my ring:

So back to those all important questions of when, where, and who! DF and I originally wanted to get married in Disney. I have been there many times and we've taken two trips there together. The last time we were there in Jan. '05 we were on the monorail going past the Wedding Pavilion and we were saying how it would be so amazing to get married in Disney and it would be an awesome story to tell our kids! I kept it in mind and then after we got engaged in Sept. '06 I looked into it a little bit. We both still really loved the idea, but he wanted to elope in Disney and I didn't, and there was the issue of his grandma. She is 85 years old and traveling to FL isn't really an option at this point. We decided to get married at home and then have our honeymoon in Disney, so that she would be able to see us get married. DF and I picked July 4, 2008 as our date and I booked the church and the photographer and had appointments to meet with people for the cake and catering. The church is where he went as a kid and I go there every Sunday now - the pastor is wonderful and I was really looking forward to having him marry us! My FMIL and I started writing out the guest list and it came to 125+ people. Now I know that many brides on this board have had many more guests at their weddings and that is wonderful! However, DF and I felt terrified at the idea of getting married in front of all those people. I was also noticing that I was getting this feeling of dread every time I booked something else for the wedding and I was really unhappy with the whole situation. :guilty: I mentioned something to DF and he said he felt the same way! Suddenly I realized that this is supposed to be OUR day, and (hopefully) it will only come once so it should be done the way that we want. That night I went online to look at the Disney weddings again and that just sealed the deal. The original wedding is off and we are getting married at 10 a.m. on July 4, 2008 at Sea Breeze Point! :cloud9: We did compromise on the eloping idea and now only immediate family will be invited (10 people total, including us). I feel bad that his grandma will not get to see it, but we are going to have a big celebration when we get home for everyone else who wasn't at the actual wedding.

Everything sounds great so far. Your engagement story is so sweet, and I love your ring. A Tacori ring was on my list of possibilities :)

Lizby your dress and your ring are soooooo pretty! He did a great job picking out the ring... My FH did a little sneaky trick to get my ring size. He bought me a ring that fits on both my right and left ring finger and one day he was trying it on all his fingers and I was like what are you doing? He said he was just seeing if the ring looked better on him. I said no silly, it is a girls ring. And he was like oh yea.. That is true and gave the ring back. Then he went to a jewelers and sized the engagement ring off of what ring my ring fit on his hand... Very creative and very sneaky..I can not wait to read more on your PJ!!! Congratulations and happy planning!

Ok, I have had a change of heart, so pretty much discount the dress and flower posts from before. I am going with a different dress and flowers but they are going to be beautiful! I am going with a satin A-line dress from David's Bridal with red flowers embroidered on it (perfect for a Fourth of July wedding, right?!)
The dress

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Dress2-Side.jpg
I don't have any pictures of the back, but I will post them when I do. I love it! Thank you to everyone who helped me decide between this dress and another that was gorgeous, but just not for me.
Since my dress is white and red, I am going to try to use these colors throughout the wedding. This is the bouquet I am thinking of using, if it is not too expensive to substitute calla lilies for some roses. The picture is very small; the bouquet had red roses and white calla lilies tied with a white bow. I found this bouquet posted by LUVTGR on an old thread and I just love it!
The bouquet

Here is the suit that DF and his brothers (his best men) will wear. It is from Carolyn Allen's. DF will wear a red bow tie and his brothers will wear white bow ties. He is refusing to wear a jacket at this point because it will be very hot, so we will see how that works out. I am not opposed to that, as long as he still looks appropriately dressed.

I also saw a very beautiful dress the other day that I thought would be perfect for my MOH, but I can't find a picture of it. It is red, strapless, tea-length, and has some sparkles on the bodice.
That's it for now...I will update when I have more to add!

Thank you for all of your nice comments everyone! It is so nice to get positive feedback  MeeshKapeesh - I guess great minds think alike, right? lol! :rotfl:
Yesterday I went back to David's Bridal and tried the dress on once more just to be absolutely sure it is *the one*. It definitely is  I didn't want to take it off and I just couldn't stop smiling when I was wearing it. :cloud9: I also tried on a bunch of different veils, including a beautiful white one with a thick ribbon edge. I loved that one but it was all in my face and I thought it took away from the dress. I wound up getting a fingertip length veil that is plain except for a little beading on the scalloped edges (which also matches my dress!)
I also wanted to say that I had a very nice experience with David's Bridal...I know there have been some mixed reviews of it on this board, but I liked it. I had one sales girl the very first time I went to look at dresses that I wasn't really crazy about, but the one I had when I picked this dress was super sweet and not pushy at all. I guess it just depends who you get.
So anyways, here are pictures of me with the dress and veil I got. I'm also posting a picture of the back.

There is a big black mark on this picture because there was another bride-to-be in the background and I didn't want to post her on the internet.

We are going to a wedding for one of DF's close friends in two days, so I have wedding fever! I just had to make a post to try to ease it a little. I figured I would write down the specifics of our wedding, since I haven't posted most of them yet and the others are buried in mountains of text!
Where: Sea Breeze Point
Coordinator: Tanis (I'm so excited about this because of all the wonderful things I have read about her on here!) :yay:
Officiant: Reverend Jack Day
Photographer: Randy Chapman
Hair/Makeup: Ana from Beaute Speciale
Also, I know I have been a little indecisive about the whole dress situation :upsidedow but I just have to say I LOVE my new dress. I can't wait to wear it and I get so excited whenever I think about it!
I think we are very lucky because we get to stay at Disney for over two weeks! We arrive on July 2, get married on the 4th, and stay until the 18th! My aunt was nice enough to give us her timeshare for a week so that is a free week (especially with the park passes included in the wedding package!) We will be staying the rest of the time at Port Orleans French Quarter.
When we get back we are going to have a big party to celebrate. I am thinking of just doing simple invitations on card stock with a bride & groom Mickey and Minnie at the top. I don't want anything too fancy for a casual backyard BBQ. Oooh I am so excited now! I can't wait to go to Disney!!! :cheer2:

I love that dress. I actually tried it on myself. It's so beautiful. My color scheme would only allow for me to get the all white version. But the red version is the best one. I think you look great in that gown and I can't wait to hear about the other details.

Aww thanks for all of the wonderful comments on my dress everyone! It is really nice to get positive feedback on it!
I know our wedding is still a while away, but I got this idea in my head yesterday and wound up making my MOH's bouquet. :flower3: I was going to get her one of the flower wands with three roses from Disney. The website said the cost was $45 dollars (which is still way better than the $125 for a regular bridesmaid's bouquet!) But, I thought I could make it just as nice out of silk flowers for cheaper and then she could have it forever.
So I took a ride up to Michaels and bought some red roses, white roses, thick white ribbon, and sheer, sparkley white ribbon. It took me about an hour and I had a bouquet made for her! It really wasn't hard at all. Here's some pictures of it. I am happy with the way it turned out and thrilled because it only cost me $24.56! What do you all think?

Today is exactly nine months until our DFTW!!! :dance3: A lot of the other teachers at school have found out that we are getting married in Disney and everyone is so excited, which makes me even more excited! As far as planning goes, we booked our flights yesterday and I am going with MOH to David's on Saturday to pick out her dress. I've been playing with my veil, trying to figure out where I want it placed. Here's a couple pics. I like it kind of low on the back of my head the best, so it still shows my hair (I am paying to have it styled, you might as well see it!) I know it will look better with my dress but just bear with me for now in my school clothes :cutie:

So today I was thinking about flowers for the wedding. Specifically, my bouquet and possibly having flowers in my hair. I am trying to decide what to do, since my dress is white with red flowers on the upper half (you can see pics of it on the first page.) Firstly, I have been thinking about having red roses and white calla lilies in my bouquet. Here is a picture I just found on here today:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/SmBouquet.jpg
I do like this bouquet a lot, but I am wondering if there is something I might like better. Should I match the flowers to my dress? My MOH is probably wearing a red dress and she is carrying the red and white bouquet I posted above. I guess you could say red is our wedding color. I am toying with the option of having gerbera daisies instead of the roses and callas. Also, I like the tussy mussy bouquet (I think the holder is so neat and would make a nice keepsake.) I would just substitute red roses in for the white roses.
I also saw this bouquet on here today that I *love*:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/SMBouquet2.jpg
My question is whether or not the pink flowers would look silly with my dress. I know I can substitute red roses and whatnot, but I really like the look of it in pink. Do you all think it would look bad with my dress? I feel like my dress makes such a statement on its own that I don't want to take away from it.
The other thing I have been pondering is possibly having flowers in my hair. I have been looking at tiaras and combs but nothing is striking my fancy. I found this picture of a hairstyle with little pearl clusters in her hair that I thought was pretty:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Prettyhair.jpg
I haven't been able to find anything like that yet (or the similar-sized flower pins that you can place throughout the hairstyle). If anyone knows where I could look, please let me know! I also think fresh flowers would be very pretty. I just don't know what type to use. I was thinking maybe white spray roses...I know I definitely don't want baby's breath or anything like that. Has anyone reading this worn flowers in their hair for their wedding? I would love to see some pictures! The other issue is that it will be very hot and I am afraid of them wilting before the day is over. Suggestions are welcome!!! :)
I think I would like to have my hair styled like the picture above, just with it all up instead of halfway down. I love the loose, flowy look it has!

i would go with the red roses/calla's they look beautiful and will complement your dress well!

We have them same dress!!! I absolutely love it!
I actually bought the veil that you have on in the first pic, don't think I'm going to wear it though. I just bought it because it of the white rhinestones on it look like Mickey heads...:rotfl:
I would definately stick with the red flowers. I was playing around with different flower colors but nothing seemed to work except the red.
Plus it will work really well with your wedding colors and everything else you have picked out!
If you add the calla's it will really make your flowers stand out , while complimenting your dress.

Thank you for the advice everyone! I guess I will stick with red & white flowers after all. I know that's really the right choice...it's just so easy to get sidetracked by all of the other beautiful flowers out there! :cutie:
Does anyone have any ideas about wearing flowers in my hair? Has anyone done this? I don't want them to wilt in the heat and not look nice. Any ideas where I could buy little flower or pearl pins for my hair?

i just saw several different types of hair jewelry at hobby lobby in the wedding section! i'm sure these would be easy to make as well...all you'd have to do would be to buy those tiny little flowers that they sell in the craft store bridal section, cut them off their stems and attach them to bobby/hair pins!

Congratulations, your dress is lovely! Your plans are coming along nicely, can't wait to read more :surfweb:
You might be able to get some hair pins e.t.c. from ebay, I got some pearl pins from there. My bridesmaid had pins from Claire's accessories which were lovely too.

I have been thinking for a while now about what to get DF as a wedding gift. He does not want a ring because he is an electrician and he could be electrocuted if he wore it to work. His father and grandfather didn't have rings either (also electricians) and he wants to continue the tradition. So, I have been looking for an alternative. Thank you SO much to everyone who helped me figure this out in a separate post. :cutie: I have decided to get him a Disney pocketwatch. I am going to have "Until our hands grow old" engraved on it, along with our wedding date. (It is from a line in a song that is very special to us.) Here is the watch:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/dsp_mmpocket6.jpg
I don't have the watch yet, but will have it within a few days. I'll let you know how it looks in person. I am so excited about this! I feel it is something special that will remind him of our special day for years to come and will hopefully be passed on to our children.

DF ordered my wedding band!!! :hyper: (He actually ordered it a week ago on 11/12, I just haven't gotten around to posting it.) It is a platinum Tacori ring that matches my engagement ring. It has the diamonds around the edge halfway around the ring, and the underside has a design engraved on it. It is so beautiful! Here's a picture of the ring with the diamonds all the way around.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/WeddingBand2.jpg
In other news, there was a problem with the watch I previously posted. The E-Bay seller told me after I bought it that there was something wrong with the movement, so she refunded my money. So now this is the watch I am now giving to DF (I think it is nicer anyway):
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Watch.jpg
I just got it in the mail today and it is beautiful! Now I just have to get it engraved. I also received the hair vine I ordered. It is really pretty. It is flexible so it can be worn as a tiara or weaved in your hair somehow. I'll have it in my hair. The faux pearls in it match the pearl earrings and necklace I will be wearing. I was playing around with it today and here's a pic of what it will roughly look like (but much nicer!) :upsidedow

I just ordered my shoes for the wedding! :woohoo: I was only considering ones with very low heels...I just don't do well in them. I didn't really like any of the bridal flats so I was looking more at sandals. I was trying to decide between two pairs but I decided that the flip flop style shoes would be more comfortable and I would be way more likely to wear them again. I can't wait for them to arrive!
The shoes I ordered:

The flip flops are darling! I could definitely see one wearing those for other occasions too! My only concern would be possible flapping noise while walking? Brides who've worn flip flops... help me out here?
Otherwise those other ones are super cute too, but I would add some sparkily stuff to the top to make them pop, sequines or jewels are somethin'.

And the flip-flops too. I'm going crazy trying to find the right shoes. I don't do well in heels unless they are the think chunky ones, but I don't want flats. I don't know what I'll do.........I only have 78 days to figure it out!!!!!!!

Well, DF went and picked up my wedding ring on Monday, 12/17! I was surprised, because it wasn't supposed to be in until January. It is beautiful. The engraving on the bottom half looks great and I almost like that part better than the top half with the diamonds! The band looks really nice with my e-ring. Now I just have to get the e-ring rhodium plated right before the wedding so it is as shiny and new looking as the wedding band. I can't get a good picture of it, so the website one I posted earlier will have to do.
In other news I returned the flip flops that I had picked out earlier because I felt like the thong part pulled my skin and I could tell they were going to be painful after wearing them all day (I am really sensitive to things like that.) So I decided to go with a real pair of flip flops (no one will see them anyways since I have a long dress.) They are SO comfortable! I ordered them from the Flojos website and they wound up being only like $17. I bought little rhinestones to glue on them, but the straps have a pretty sparkle to them already so I decided to leave them as is. Here's a pic:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/WeddingShoes.jpg
They are definitely not the fanciest shoes, but I know I will definitely wear them again and I won't be suffering in them on my wedding day, which is very important to me.
I've also been looking at different hairstyles. I really like this one...DF thinks it's too fussy and says something simpler would look better but it's my hair and I'll do what I want! It's just an option for now anyways.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Hair3.jpg
I would use my hair vine in place of the clip she has and I'm thinking I might want it a bit higher so there is room for my veil. Another possibility is a style like Disneyheaven had for her wedding. It is beautiful! I might do something in between hers and the above picture.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Hair11-1.jpg
Also, I know I have hemmed and hawed over the bouquet issue, but I found one I really like. It doesn't have the callas in it, but I like it better this way. It is red roses with seeded eucalyptus around the edges (one of my favorite greens.) I would probably get a sheer white ribbon around the stems instead of the burgundy though. It will really depend how much Disney Floral is going to charge me to do this bouquet instead of one of the standards since it's an intimate wedding, but if it's reasonable I'll have this bouquet:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Bouquet3-1.jpg
Last but not least, I've been talking to DF about his clothing situation. He really doesn't want to wear a jacket since it will be very hot and I don't really want to force him because I don't want him keeling over from heatstroke or anything! So we are thinking of buying black pants, white shirts, and vests of some kind for him and his brothers to wear. He is worried he will look too much like a waiter if he wears a vest without a jacket. What do you all think? I guess it's a possibility, but if he has a nice vest with a pattern of some kind on it it won't be too bad. If anyone knows of any other dress shirt alternatives I would love to hear them! We figured it would be more practical to buy the outfits (since they're not wearing fancy tuxes), so they can wear them in the future and we're not just throwing money away on rentals. Opinions anyone?

on the whole shirt/jacket issue...i totally understand that he doesn't want to wear a jacket, it'll be super hot. why don't you think about them wearing a really nice white shirt (they make those fun textured ones) and a tie like this. my df is wearing one...

that way it's still dressy, but he won't be super hot and sweaty!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! :grouphug: I hope everyone's day was as wonderful as mine. There is nothing like spending the day with the people you love!
I am really excited today because FMIL and FFIL got DF and I the wedding ears for Christmas! I know many people on here have them already, but it is so awesome to have my own pair! DF is being a very good sport about the whole thing and says he's going to wear his the entire time we're in Disney. His only concern is getting them there on the plane since they are kind of bulky. Here's a pic of us in our ears (it is blurry...I got a new digital camera and FMIL was having trouble figuring out how to work it.)

In other news, I am going with MOH tomorrow or Thursday to David's Bridal to help pick out her dress! I can't wait!
Good night all...enjoy the rest of the holiday :cloud9:

We went shopping for MOH's dress! She went there looking for a tea length dress and wound up choosing a floor length pick-up skirt and strapless top which she is thrilled with. Both are in black and she will be wearing an apple red sash around her waist. I know black isn't a traditional bridesmaid's dress color, but it really didn't matter too much to me. I just want her to be happy and feel comfortable in what she's wearing. She was able to buy the skirt at the store, but the top and sash had to be ordered. They should arrive mid-February. Here's a pic of what our dresses will look like together (the color is off...the detailing on my dress and her sash are actually the same color.):
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Girls2.jpg
While we were at David's Bridal, I decided to ask about exchanging my dress because I decided I don't want the train anymore. The manager kind of gave me an attitude and said all sales are final. I explained that I know of many women who have been able to exchange their dresses there. Then she got on the computer and said that it has been over 90 days since I bought the dress (by like two weeks! :headache: ) and she could only do an even exchange within 90 days. She told me to call customer service and have them okay the exchange. No one answered when I called customer service though, so I have to call back. It really seemed like she could make the exchange without giving me the runaround, since she at first wasn't willing to work with me at all, then said they could actually do exchanges within 90 days. The rules seemed pretty arbitrary. Did anyone else have this problem exchanging something at David's?
I have finally decided what the boys are going to wear. They are going to wear black dress pants, white dress shirts, and DF will have red suspenders and a black bowtie, while his brothers will have black suspenders and red bowties. DF LOVES suspenders and they are his favorite thing to wear when he has to dress up, so I thought that would be a good way to personalize his outfit.
Lastly, next week we make our ADR's!!! I think we are going to try for Cinderella's Royal Table for the night before the wedding (or O'Hana if we can't get it) and Chef Mickey's for lunch after the wedding. I noticed that I haven't heard on anyone on this board have a rehearsal/wedding dinner at Cindy's place. Is this just because it books up so quickly or is it not the best place for it? There are only 8 of us, so size isn't really a big issue.

i returned stuff to davids, but it wasn't as easy as i would have hoped. they gave me a big problem about my veil, but i just exchanged it for 2 more veils...which i don't need, but that's another story. you just have to get kind of um, not so nice, with them and they'll do it eventually. there were several girls in there trying dresses on when i went in, i felt like they didn't want those new customers to know how unaccomodating they are. i would take it back again, maybe with someone with you and talk to the manager. they are being difficult. oh, my stuff was returned after the 90 day mark as well...hth.

We are officially less than 180 days out!!! :yay: We were finally able to make our dining reservations yesterday. I got up bright and early and was on the phone with Disney Dining literally the minute they opened. We will be going to Cinderella's Royal Table the night before the wedding for our "rehearsal" dinner. The wedding itself is at 10 a.m., so I thought a nice lunch would be better than waiting for dinner. We all want to wear our wedding attire out to eat, and I know no one is going to stay dressed up all day long. I am still undecided about whether I will wear my wedding dress or just a simple white dress I am going to buy for the rest of the wedding day. Anyways, we will be having lunch at The Wolfgang Puck Cafe in Downtown Disney. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only place where you can't wear your dress is inside the four parks, right? I hope I will be able to wear it in Downtown Disney (if that's what I decide to do).
Other than that, we have ADR's for Coral Reef, 50's Primetime Cafe, Trail's End Restaraunt, Crystal Palace, Tutto Italia, and Chef Mickey's. I am really excited about all of the places we picked and can't wait to try the food!
One last thing...I don't think I'll be wearing the hair vine after all. When MOH and I went to David's Bridal I saw a really beautiful tiara that I wanted (but it was $100!!). So when I came home I looked on E-Bay and found one I liked even better for $15! It arrived last week and I really love it. It looks good with my jewelry. Here's a pic:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Tiara2.jpg
I think I am also going to try to get a couple small hair pins with red jewels on them to place throughout the back of my hair to pick up the red from my dress.

I went shopping on disneyshopping.com last night and I bought t-shirts for DF and I to wear on our Disneymoon. :cheer2: They are both white and have matching designs on them. They haven't arrived yet, but here is the design:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/TShirtDesign.jpg
Oooh and a few weeks ago I also got hair pins to wear on the BIG DAY! I'll still wear the tiara, I'm just adding a few red silk hydrangea flowers in the back. They are sooo pretty. The red matches the red on my dress pretty well and each flower has a little red pearl in the middle. They are not really quite as red as they appear in this picture, but I had to fiddle with the color to get them to show up on the black background.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/HairPins.jpg
In other news, I've decided to wear my pearl strand necklace, pearl & diamond drop earrings, and ruby & diamond bracelet for the wedding.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Jewelry2.jpg
They have all been gifts from DF over the past few years and it will mean a lot to him if I wear something he picked out for me. I am having trouble with the pearl necklace because it is a little too long. I want it to be a choker length and it is about two inches longer and I don't like the way it looks with my dress. So when I went to the jewelry store where Tim bought all of the pieces, the snobby women (has anyone else experienced the attitudes on people in jewelry stores? They are nice as pie to DF, but I've never had a friendly one, EVER!) there informed me that I have two options. The first is to have the whole thing restrung, which will cost $125+. :headache: That is way more than I want to spend. The other choice is to take the hook closure and hook it between two pearls. The lady at the store proceeded to bend the hook closed to demonstrate how I could do it on our wedding day (without asking me) and now it is all crooked. The problem with this option is that the other part of the clasp will hang down. My hair will be up, so you will see it. I don't know if I care that much, but they were making it sound like a really big deal at the store. Do you all think it matters that much? Here's a picture of the clasp to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Necklace.jpg
Oh, and the jewelry saga is not over yet. I also took the pocketwatch I bought DF as a wedding gift to have it engraved. (I wanted it to say "Until our hands grow old", which is a line from a song that is special to us.) Here's a pic to remind everyone what it looks like:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Watch.jpg
There is also the same design in reverse on the back. I took it to Things Engraved and they would not engrave it because I wanted it done inside the cover. So, I took it with me to the jewelry store when I went to talk about the pearls. They acted like I was a total idiot and that it cannot be engraved inside. There is a faint swirl design inside the cover and they told me that you won't be able to see the words, that it will look totally different, it might show through on the front and that they wouldn't take it in to be engraved. They suggested going somewhere that does engraving on site but said it probably can't be done since Things Engraved couldn't do it. So now I don't know what to do. The engraving was the most important part to me, more than whether it's a certain Disney watch or not. I wish I had known this before I bought this watch.

Well, I had a nice surprise today at work! I got an e-mail a couple of weeks ago from one of the fourth grade teachers saying they wanted to meet with me today to discuss some students, since the maternity leave I have been covering ends Thursday and they wanted to wrap things up. Michelle, the girl that I share the Basic Skills room with at school, was missing for a good portion of the afternoon when school ended, and when I went down for my "meeting", all of the elementary staff was there and they threw me a surprise bridal shower!!! :cake: I couldn't see, but I am pretty sure my face was bright red :flower3: :lmao: It was soooo nice...they had all kinds of goodies to eat and some very special gifts. Michelle did most of the planning and picked out a very beautiful frame as a present. :cloud9: I was so touched that they all cared enough for me to plan something so wonderful. They gave DF and I an American Express gift card to use for dinner one night on our honeymoon. Here is a picture of the frame Michelle picked out that I *LOVE* (there is foam packing behind Mickey and Minnie to keep them safe for now.)

Not sure where you are located in NJ but if you ever go into the city there are quite a few jewlers on 47th Street that do engraving. They will do it right there in front of you. I worked in the city for many years and would go there quite often to get things done. I also purchased my ring from one of the jewlers there also - actually I used my mom's stone and had it put in a new setting and we purchased a matching wedding band and also got a band for my DF. If you are interested, I can probably get some recommendations. We still need to go back and pick up my wedding band as it needed to be resized. Let me know if this is something you are interested in.

I just had my floral planning session with Rosie from Disney Floral! :cool1: Let me just say she is one of the sweetest, most helpful people I have talked to throughout the planning process! I'll post the prices she quoted me in case it could help another bride-to-be. We are having an Escape wedding and I wanted a bouquet that is a little different from the standard ones. Here is a picture:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Bouquet3-1.jpg
It was an extra $25 to add the seeded eucalyptus around the outer edges of the flowers. I am also changing the ribbon to a sheer white one, wrapped the same way.
As for hidden Mickeys, Rosie quoted me a price of $3 per Mickey, whether I use Swarovski crystal or pearl.
DF does not want to wear the included boutonnière because he is allergic to a lot of flowers, so I am going to give it to his father to wear. He will have a white rose with seeded eucalyptus as an accent. Here are the prices Rosie quoted me for various corsages and SBP decorations:
$20 - wrist corsage for FMIL. It will have a single white rose, seeded eucalyptus accents, and white ribbon. This wound up being cheaper than the spray rose corsage I was originally thinking of (that was $25).
$25 - pin-on corsage for my aunt. It will have white dendrobium orchids and white ribbon.
I did not add any of these options to my floral selections, but I thought the prices were helpful:
$65 - flower petals on the aisle at SBP. She mentioned that they do not recommend red rose petals because they can stain the bride's dress as it drags over them. :scared1:
$50 - to swag railing behind the spot where you stand to get married with tulle and bows. Rosie just sent me a pic of this:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/SBP16.jpg
$120 - to have a tulle swag in the archway where you get married and have bows at three points. It is like this picture, with bows instead of flowers (I think there might be a bow at the top too?...)
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/SBP.jpg
$250 - to have a tulle swag with floral clusters in the same archway. It would look like the picture above.
I was also able to schedule our honeymoon shoot that we get since we are using Randy for pictures instead of Disney Photography. :cheer2: We get 30 min. with a photographer in the park of our choice (we picked Magic Kingdom). We'll receive 2 5x7" prints and the other pictures will be on a website to view. The times available to pick from are any day of the week from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. She suggested doing it early in the morning on a day in the middle of the week so it would be less crowded. I picked Tuesday, July 15 at 9:30 a.m. She said MK opens at 9:00, so that will give us time to get there and meet the photographer at City Hall.
I switched the location for our lunch after the wedding. I originally booked Wolfgang Puck Cafe for 1:00 and they told us we would have to eat at two separate tables outside (it will be HOT!!!). I was able to make an ADR for Grand Floridian Cafe at 1:00 and we will all be able to sit together (8 people) and it will be inside :woohoo:
Lastly, I asked Rosie about how the cake part of the ceremony goes since we are getting married early in the morning and she said we will still cut it and eat the first piece for pictures and then the rest can be boxed up and we can take it with us. She suggested letting our guests eat cake while DF and I have our pictures taken by Randy. I asked the lady at Disney Dining about serving the cake at the GF Cafe and she said I would have to talk to them directly when the wedding is closer about whether or not I can serve it there. I am sure I have read of other brides doing this though.

Take a pillow, put it on your face, and SCREAM ;)
Your aunt is important to you and you love each other, I'm sure-- but she also sounds manipulative, and rather negative, so be careful how much time you spend with her, and how much talking you do with her. You definitely don't need those vibes surrounding your wedding
Here's a big hug  , and I know it sounds kinda bad, but if you're not willing to confront your aunt about her negativity, then spend less time with her, because it doesn't sound like she's interested in being supportive of you and DF. :sad2: It's sad, but you and DF need to be a little selfish now, and start doing what's best for the both of you since you're starting a life together. Don't allow the two of you to get bogged down by people's bad wishes and vibes.
I hope she sees the light instead, though, and decides to rise above whatever she's feeling so that she can cheer you on!

Grrr...relatives!
You're very lucky to have 2 maternity leave positions in a row! Sure, a permanant position would be the best, but I know quite a few out of work teachers in NJ. More than you would expect anyway. Being in a school and doing a great job of taking over for someone is the best way to get to know people and to get an "in" on those perm positions!

That's the best way to get a perm position. One of my employees, in-laws
got his perm position by doing a year long substition role for a retiring hs history teacher( took his last yr off using banked sick pay). He was offered the job about half way through the year.

I am also going to do the same thing to MOH's shoes, but she hasn't bought them yet. I'll post pics of them later on... In the meantime, here's mine!

Since I was already on a roll after finishing the hidden mickeys on my shoes, I decided to do my veil too! I used Swarovski flatback crystals in Crystal Moonlight. I got the idea for this from Sandy (love2b@disney) --Thanks Sandy! However, I glued mine on using FabriTac instead of sewing them, because I knew I would never have the patience to sew all of them on. :scared1: Sorry the pics aren't the best...

Thanks! I got my veil at David's Bridal. Yes, it is a single layer...I wanted a single layer because the tiered ones kind of covered a lot of the detail on the back of my dress, which I didn't like. Honestly, looking back it was kind of a rip-off since I paid like $60 (and that was with the discount b/c I bought my dress there! :scared1: ) for a little tulle and a tiny bit of beading around the edges. I know there are a lot of veils that are a LOT more money than mine, but if I had to do it again, I probably would have looked on e-Bay or tried to make it. You and Goldeelox HAVE to post pics when you finish!!! :)

I agree, I like the single layer veil better because I plan I keeping my veil on the day and if it had too many layers, it would just annoy me.
I'm going to glue my rhinestones on too because I really don't have the patience to sew on each individual rhinestone. I give Sandy a lot of credit! :thumbsup2 I haven't purchased my veil yet, but I think it will try ebay. Thanks for the tip Liz!

There is no way that there is any reason to charge brides so much money for veils. They just know they have you that when you have on "the dress" they can just slap an expensive veil on your head to complete the look and then it becomes a must have! They certainly got me. I thought my dress was very reasonalbe at just over $700 but then the veil that looks oh so perfect was $225 :scared1:
Eh I guess as they say it...its a hard price to pay to be a princess for a day :bride:

Awww, thanks for remembering! Welllll...I haven't actually even looked at the vows since the day I started them. I still have to show them to DF, although he liked the sound of them. I'll probably wait until the wedding is closer and look over them again.
The dress fitting was alright. I wasn't really impressed with the lady that did it at David's Bridal. She was very abrupt and hardly spoke english. I guess from what I read on the DISboards, I expected it to be a sort of "friendlier" experience, where she might show me a couple choices for the bustle or something. She basically just jabbed a bunch of pins in the dress, said "here's your bustle" and told me to change out of it. I didn't really mind the way it turned out, but I would have liked to see another option or two. Plus I don't get to pick it up for TWO MONTHS, since they can only do the second fitting on a Wednesday or Friday during the day (when I'll be working), so I had to wheedle a Wed. at 6:00 out of her, but it's not until May 21. So anyways, here's a pic of what the bustle will look like (she told me it will be more symmetrical when it's finished.)

Don't you just LOVE the glamorous background of the alterations department?!? :lmao: It was almost a little creepy back there, especially when someone started pounding on the outside of that door while I was changing out of my dress! :scared1:

After days and days of drama waiting for Disney to finally post the availability of the Fourth of July pontoon boat rentals, WE FINALLY GOT ONE!!!!!!!!! We started calling Saturday (our 90 day mark) and until Thursday they kept saying they weren't taking bookings yet for some unknown reason. We are going out on Bay Lake for the double fireworks show at Magic Kingdom to finish off our wedding day!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: There are only eight of us, so I thought a dessert party might be a little much for so few people and the pontoon boat will be perfect. The only snag was we wound up paying about DOUBLE of what a regular pontoon boat costs, because it's on the Fourth of July! :scared1:  :faint: I wish we had a little warning that the prices skyrocket so much on holidays. I am so happy because we finally took care of a major thing last night: the clothes for DF and his brothers (best men)! We went to Burlington Coat Factory and bought them each tux pants, a tux shirt, and black bowties. I had already bought black suspenders off ebay for the two best men for $5 each. Guess what the GRAND TOTAL was to fully dress the three guys??? $175! :yay: We couldn't have even rented two tuxes for that amount! They also look really sharp in their clothes. Here's a pic of one of the best men in his outfit (it needs to be ironed obviously, but you get the idea):

Morning Liz,
Love the veil and the dress and the guys are going to look great. That is so smart for a July wedding in Florida. Lucky you getting a pontoon boat for July 4th. We were in WDW last July 4th week and the fireworks at MK were just wonderful.
I also love the way your flipflops came out. I am planning on doing something similar and I wanted to ask you how you put the crystals on the flipflops. I would imagine you put them on with glue but I just want to make sure they stay on. I am going to wear regular shoes to our ceremony and reception but I want to have these along just incase. I am also going to make them for my bridesmaids.
Thanks,
Linda

Thanks for the kind words, Linda! Yes, I did put the crystals on the flip flops with glue. I used Jewel Bond and they seem to be on there pretty strong. I'm not worried about them falling off at all. I also bought one of those sticks to help put them on that looks like a giant q-tip. The stick part was blue and had a point at one end (which was very helpful for pressing them down and getting them in just the right place) and at the other end was a ball of semi-sticky stuff that helped to pick the crystals up and place them where I wanted them. Good luck with your flip flops! I'm sure they will be great! :goodvibes

Our flowers are like practically nothing. I added seeded eucalyptus to my red rose bouquet, which Rosie originally said would be $25, but didn't wind up charging me for on our floral BEO. I am having 8 crystal hidden Mickeys (still thinking about cutting it back...) which come to $24. Also, we are having pink rose petals scattered on the aisle at SBP (I loved Lurkyloo's petals so much I just couldn't say no!!!) They are $65. So our floral grand total is $79!
My MOH's bouquet is silk. I bought the flowers for it at Michael's and it cost me under $25 to make! :cutie:

So your bridal bouquet is only 79 bucks!!!?? That is so awesome! I was so afraid of it being over 300 :(
We were thinking about getting fake flowers but by the time we get them, then ship them from NY to FLA we said the cost may end up being the same if we just went to the florist and got them done.
I really only wanted 7 roses for the girls in assorted pinks and same for me but I wanted 11 (vin and I's number) and then I wanted 5 white for the five years we've been together...
I hope hope hope that it works out :(

I go for my second fitting and to pick my dress up from David's Bridal in about two weeks. (I have been without it for a month and a half already! :scared1: I am going through dress withdrawl!!) MOH is supposed to be dropping her dress off somewhere for alterations, since she is doing a study abroad program starting this weekend and will return only two weeks before the wedding.
I still don't know what to do about the pocketwatch I bought for DF. I CANNOT find any store that will engrave it for me. Every place I take it acts like I am crazy and there is not a single place that it can be engraved. :sad2: It is very disheartening. Now I need to decide whether it is more important to have it personalized or have it be a very unique Disney watch he would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. I have no clue what to do... :confused3
BUT, to end on a happy note...TWO MONTHS!!!!!!!!

Very exciting that you only have 2 months to go! Yay!
Now about the watch...could have some place engrave something on a separate metal plate and then sauder (or attach it some other way) to the inside cover of the watch? Just an idea. Let me know what you wind up doing!

I remember your watch problems from a while ago but don't remember why it cannot be engraved. What does it look like and why can't it be engraved. I have a great jewler in NYC on 47th street. If you let me know what the problem with the watch is I can call him. I know an engraver where you can go right to him and he does the engraving in front of you and you do not have to send it out to get done. Let me know what the problem is and maybe one of them can help you.

I am also getting married at Sea Breeze Point (June 17, 2008), I am using Randy Chapman as my photographer, DF and I are staying at Port Orleans French Quater, I bought my dress at David's Bridal, we will be at Disney for two weeks too, and I am a fourth grade teacher. Great minds think alike! :rotfl:
Congratulations and happy wishes with everything. The big day is getting so close! HURRAY!:cheer2:
Jess:
Thank you for the kind words! Your wedding is even closer, so you must be SUPER excited!! I am glad to hear of another bride staying at POFQ. So many people have recommended Riverside lately that I was starting to get nervous that we made the wrong choice, but I think it will be fine. :)
That is so neat that there are so many similarities between our weddings! Great minds really DO think alike! :rotfl2: What day do you leave to go home? We are arriving on July 2.

Liz,
Very exciting that you only have 2 months to go!
Linda
Thank you for your help & advice ladies! Here is what the watch looks like:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Watch.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Watch2.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Watch1.jpg
Sorry, they aren't the best pictures. Most jewelry stores have said they generally engrave the back (which is usually blank & flat), by making a template and then machine engraving it. They can't do that because Mickey is there.
I originally wanted the inside of the cover engraved, but they won't do that for a few reasons (supposedly).
1. It is curved, so they can't make the template and just stamp it on or whatever they do.
2. They said engraving there will mess up the swirl design background...
3. They also said that the engraving could show through on the other side and ruin the watch.
I thought perhaps it could be engraved on the silver band around the front of the watch (they engrave the inside of rings, so how hard could it be???) I am even willing to shorten the engraving to just 7/4/08, but they said it still can't be done. It could even fit on Mickey's arm or something, so I have no idea what the problem is. Maybe you all can help :flower3:

How did I miss your PJ all this time???? I just spent an hour reading everything. I LOVE it!!! Its so awesome you made your MOH's bouquet from silk. I'm making ALL of our floral from silk, but luckily we're only about an hour from WDW, so we won't need to ship anything. :) Your dress is gorgeous and I'm definately stealing your idea of the mickey's on the veil!!! Best of luck with the pocket watch...I'm sure you'll figure something out. I'm still trying to figure out what to get DF for his gift. Oh...and I L-O-V-E the suspenders!!!! :)
Can't wait to hear the rest and see a TR in a few months!!! hehe

Thank you for taking the time to read it! I love the silk flowers because they save money in the long run and they last forever. You are SO lucky to live so close to Mickey's house! :woohoo: Suspenders are DF's FAVORITE thing, so they just seemed natural when we were looking for jacket alternatives.

I went for my final fitting at David's Bridal today!!! I was nervous that they might have lost the dress or messed it up somehow, especially since I didn't feel very confident leaving my precious dress with a rude lady who barely spoke english. However, my worries were for nothing! My dress turned out beautifully! They hemmed it so I can walk in it without tripping now and they also added the bustle. There are seven hook-thingies on one of the inside layers of the dress and there are seven ribbons on another layer that tie together and make a pretty bustle. It seems very secure and fairly easy to do. You just match the ribbons with the hooks. Here are some pics:
From the front (you can see the bustle in the back) - look how it falls perfectly at my feet and not six inches past them! :lmao:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/MeFinalFront.jpg
I thought this was a nice pic of the back all spread out.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/MeFinalBack.jpg
I am so relieved that everything turned out just the way I wanted! :woohoo:
I think I have also lost a bit of weight, so it fits a little nicer across the stomach. I am still hoping to lose at least five more pounds, so it looks even better.

I can't believe it, but we are getting married in FIVE WEEKS!!! :hyper: I have been a busy little bee the last couple of days. ::yes:: Sorry, no pics, but this is what I have gotten done:
-FINISHED PAYING FOR THE WEDDING (thanks to the most wonderful, fabulous FMIL and FFIL ever!)
-Mailed in the affidavit and application for our marriage license.
-E-mailed our vows to Reverend Jack.
-E-mailed Randy about photos we want.
-Called to confirm our dining reservations, had them add that it's our honeymoon, and also made a new breakfast reservation for O'Hanas after seeing the pics of Lynn's tonga toast.
-Confirmed our pontoon boat reservation (the lady thought I said cancel instead of confirm and almost cancelled it!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: After what we went through to get that reservation, I told her repeatedly DO NOT, DO NOT cancel the reservation!).
What I still have to do:
-Rent a car for the second week we are in Orlando.
-Pay for hotel room.
-Enter flight info for Magical Express.
-Buy DF shoes for the wedding...he might need them!
-Ship dress to Carolyn Allen's in three weeks.
-PACK!!!! I don't even know where to begin with this one!
In other news, DF's bachelor party is tomorrow. His brother and a few friends are taking him to Atlantic City overnight. Meanwhile, I am having a girl's night out! :woohoo:
Oh my goodness, I will be a married woman at this time five weeks from now! I can't believe it! :bride:

You're right! It feels like time is slipping through my fingers...right now I am concentrating more on the end of the school year and getting things wrapped up. We are also fixing up the place where we are going to live and are stressing about moving soon. :scared: We wanted to be in before the wedding, but I'm not sure if we'll have it done in time. Plus I have a state test for teaching coming up that I am nervous about. Oh well, just over a month and we will be in the happiest place on Earth! ::MickeyMo

There's been lots of exciting stuff going on! Yesterday I went to the mall with FMIL and she finally picked out her dress for the wedding. I love it! :lovestruc It is a turquoise blue color, has straps that are about 1 1/2 inches wide, a scoop neck, and comes to her knee. It looks really beautiful on her, and she has dark hair, so it complements it nicely.
I also got my dress for after the wedding from NY & Co. (it will be too hot to wear my dress all day and evening.) I'll wear my dress for the wedding and the lunch afterwards, then I'll switch into this one:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/AfterDress.jpg

Our wedding is exactly three weeks from today! ::yes::
In other news, I finally solved the dilemma over what to do about engraving DF's watch. (For anyone who hasn't followed along, I got him a Disney pocketwatch as a wedding gift and I haven't been able to find anyone to engrave it for me.) I was talking to a girl at work and she had a brilliant idea: get a charm engraved and hook it on the chain! Here's the result:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Watch-1.jpg
The engraving says "Until our hands grow old... 7-4-08". I am very happy with the way it turned out!
I also ordered gifts for DF's parents to thank them for all of their help with the wedding. I don't have time to post pics now, but will later.

So I am trying to figure out when to give DF his watch...I think we are going to give everyone their gifts when we go out to dinner the night before the wedding at Cinderella's Royal Table. I can't decide whether to give it to him then, along with everyone else's, give it to him later when it's just the two of us, or to go with my original plan, which was to have his brother give it to him from me on the morning of the wedding. Suggestions??

I'm glad you like the cufflinks! I got them from www.eldoradoclub.net. Here is a link to these exact cufflinks: http://yhst-30589450562998.stores.yahoo.net/sixshcu.html They were very reasonable...only $16. I hope your dad enjoys them too! :goodvibes

What a great solution for the pocket watch! It looks great. I can't believe your wedding is getting so close!
Thanks! I could not be happier with the way it turned out! :)
Liz-- All of the gifts are so sweet and thoughtful. The solution for engraving the pocket watch is fabulous!!! I am so glad you were able to express your sentiment

TWO WEEKS!!! :hyper: This time two weeks from now I will be a married woman! I can't believe it!
So I decided to ship my dress down to Carolyn Allen's, because I did not want to be bothered lugging it through the airport along with our other 1.5 million bags, especially since I would have had to cram it into the overhead bin (this makes for one unhappy DISbride-to-be! :furious: ) I went to UPS today and got insurance and tracking and all that good stuff and off it went! Tracking info should be available tomorrow at 7 a.m. I'll add a link then, if you would to follow my dress on its trip down the eastern coast! :)
Since I can hear the clamoring "PI-CTURES, PI-CTURES, PI-CTURES" already, here is one pic of the dress packed in the garment bag, and then wrapped in a garbage bag (can't be too careful!!):
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Dress.jpg
And my FAVORITE boy (can't call him a dog, he gets offended :rotfl2: ) in the whole world went with me to ship my dress off and lend moral support! This is him in the car on the way home. Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the cutest Jack Russell in the whole world (IMHO), MURPHY!!!

Okay, this is too funny. Our furbaby also has the same stuffed squirrel. She thinks it's her baby. You should see her take care of it. :lovestruc
You know, Liz, I figured his schedule was pretty full and I thought it only fair that we acknowledge the personal sacrifice he must have made to go for that car ride.
SnowWhite -- your baby is adorable, too! I didn't even know there were smooth coat and not-so-smooth coat JRTs. We considered that breed before deciding on our cairn terrier. Our only concern was how much they seemed to bark when we met them.

So yesterday I noticed FMIL bustling around all over, making deviled eggs and potato salad and acting a little secretive. When questioned, she said it was all for a party DF's brother was going to that night. Then, one of DF's coworkers was leaving our house and he says "Have fun tonight, Liz!" (Turns out he nearly blew the surprise and DF was ready to beat his ***.) DF passes it off that he was planning on taking me out to Friday's for drinks and that's what the coworker meant. At like 6:30 we leave for Friday's but I notice we're going the wrong way and DF says he needs to look at this trailer and he's pretending to get lost and eventually we wind up at his aunt's house and he tells me he has to drop off a tool to his cousin. His aunt meets us out front and walks us around the back and then I hear............SURPRISE!!!!! DF's family threw me a surprise bridal shower! :hyper: And can I just say it was BEAUTIFUL and so much fun!! :yay: It was a fairytale princess theme and there was Disney music playing in the background and everything. princess:
FOOD
There was a lot of really delicious food, like aforementioned potato salad and deviled eggs (my FAV!!) and stromboli, fruit, chicken, etc... I didn't really get to eat that much because I was busy flapping my gums with everyone there. :rotfl2: Sorry, no food pics here yet. I only broke my camera out when it was time for gifts, but MOH might have some.
GAMES
We also played some fun games, like this one where they pass out a list of items that might be in your purse and the corresponding point values if you do. The person with the most points won a little goodie bag.
We also did this one game where MOH and her mom put all this stuff on a tray and I walked around showing it to everyone. They just told everyone to pay close attention, so of course everyone was trying to memorize the stuff on the tray. I walked inside and then they told everyone to write down what I was wearing! There was a lot of moans and groans that they fell for it and FMIL actually won the game!
The ongoing game throughout the shower was when everyone walked in they got a couple of those skinny, stretchy, plastic bracelets to wear. Anyone who caught someone else saying "wedding" got to take a bracelet from the offender. The person with the most bracelets at the end of the night won. I haven't played any games like those before at showers and really thought they were a lot of fun and did not cause any awkwardness for anyone who didn't want to play.
PICTURES
After food and games it was time to open the gifts! My neighbor was there and somehow she got roped into making the bow hat and she did a GREAT job! She was nice enough to make it double as a bouquet so I didn't have to wear it on my head too long. :goodvibes
Here I am opening this really awesome gift basket full of little kitchen necessities and it also had red, white, and blue lollipops and little bride & groom cookies! The next pic is a welcome mat FMIL gave us, but I really wanted to show off the castle balloon above me! :bitelip: Last, this is my shocked face to find a nightie in one of the boxes (thanks MOH! :rotfl: ) Can you see how red my face got??
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Basket.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Welcome.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Shocked.jpg
DF wound up staying at the party since he drove me and some of his boy cousins were there for him to hang out with. Here we are with my bow bouquet:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Bs-1.jpg
And here's me rockin' it on my head:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/BowHat.jpg
AND THE PART I AM MOST EXCITED TO SHARE!!!!...............MY CAKE!!!
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/ChrisCake.jpg
A girl I work with at school is also a pastry chef and she makes all of these AMAZING desserts for our in-service lunches, so Tim's aunt hired her to make me a Little Mermaid cake! It is SO cool! Around the sides it says "May all of your fairytale dreams come true." :cloud9:
MOH's mom also made me this really pretty cake out of towels! When I first got there I didn't realize it was towels and I was thinking the icing looked a little weird, but I guess that's why!! :rotfl2:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/TowelCake.jpg
And last, but not least, the favors! In the bags there's mints, princess fruit snacks, a glass slipper, a wand, and a picture of DF and I from the day we got engaged (the same one that's posted on the first page of my PJ.) I was totally surprised about the picture and it turns out FMIL was super secretive and snuck the picture out of one of my photo albums and I never even noticed!
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p103/hunnny83/Favor.jpg
There is also a little bridal shower book that was making its way around, but I was not allowed to look at it. I'm not sure when that's coming, but it looked really neat!
So I REALLY am on :cloud9: today!! I thought it was so sweet of everyone to get together and do that for me. MOH has been in Europe studying abroad for the last month and a half, so her mother stepped in to help do what MOH wanted done. Plus I know FMIL and one of DF's aunts really worked their butts off making it so nice. I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life!

They said its a total surprise and they will only tell me that its purple and silver and the theme is fairies! :yay: It's in July so it's coming up! :cool1: Your party looked awesome and I'm so happy to be your dresstwin!!! Congratulations!!

Your shower looked so wonderful! How sweet of everyone for their special efforts. When we got married, I decided on December 7 to get married before Christmas and my friends and I were all in the middle of finals our senior year of college, so there was no time (or money) for a shower. It always makes me smile to see the effort that friends and family go through to make such a special event for a bride. I am so glad it was so wonderful for you!

First, THANK YOU everyone for your wonderful comments! I had such a blast at the bridal shower (the best part was having everyone together...the gifts didn't even matter.) Yeah, opening the nightie was a little embarrassing, but it was also funny for everyone. At least it was a nice one though and not one with holes cut out in certain areas or something like that! :lmao:
I forgot to mention that at the end of the night, MOH read off a list of things that I had said during the shower that I would be saying on the wedding night. It was HILARIOUS! There were things like "it's so big!!" and "yes it is a playboy" (don't ask about that one!) I thought that might be a fun idea for someone else to use if they ever have to throw a shower.
Second, I have to tell you that Murphy can barely fit his head through any of the doorways in the house because it is so swelled from everyone's compliments! :rotfl2: He thinks he's God's gift to DisBrides now!
