Hiya
I saw a post on the UK community board that lead to here, and thought I would come over and say hi :woohoo:
I never noticed an arts and crafts board before
I love to cross stitch, etc and was considering maybe scrap booking at some point, plus I want to make a patch work quilt lol
Im at present sewing last year WDW cross stitch, but unfortunately I seem to have lost the key for what symbol represents what color!!
Any pointers on someone starting quilting?
Thanks and Hi again

:welcome: to the nicest board on the DIS
The first quilt I made was a log cabin...E A S Y!!! I got a book from the library, bought the material, and just followed the directions. I also took a class at the local sewing shop where I bought my machine. Made a "bow tie" quilt there...fun. Another good one to try is 9-patch which is just all squares.
Good luck with it, it becomes addictive...as any good hobby does...

Hi Anna and welcome to this section of the DIS! I can't help with most of the crafty stuff. I'm a procrastinator myself. I have a ton of scrapbooking stuff, but have yet to make a scrapbook. I do cook though -- so that's my thing.
There are lots of talented DISers who hang out here (like ddavis860 who has quilted) and I'm sure some of them can help you out.

Quilting Pointer~~~ Have fun and don't be too hard on yourself. Buy cheap fabric to do a little practice, and ironing is a must.
My first quilt was a Bargello quilt. I checked out a book at the library. I am not a true quilter, by any means, but I certainly have lots of fun trying. I don;'t have alot of patience, so I don't take the time to line things up and pin them to keep all my seams perfect. My sister got me into foundation piecing and I am making a fantasy quilt for my dd. Here is a picture of what I have finished so far. I am about halfway finished.

There are going to be dragons on all 4 corners of the quilt and I would like to put her name on it if I can find some paper piecing letters to make it with.

Welcome Anna!!!! Everyone here is so great and helpful, if you scroll down more we have lots of sub forums and the living room for random chat.
OCD, that is a great quilt. Mt grandmother is a quilter and she made me a Holly Hobby quilt when I was little. It needs some work since I slept with until I was 30. I need to take it to her but she is working on a quilt for my cousin who is getting married in May.
