I asked for a quote for 2008 and she thought I said 2007. When the quote came back I was like whoaaaaa! It was cheap! She said AAA is having a special and it is FREE dining!
'The quote includes the October - December Magic Your Way Plus Dining option as well.'
I don't know if anyone else has posted this but thought I would share! If it's old new then just ignore.
I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS ACCURATE OR NOT. ALL I KNOW IS WHAT I WAS TOLD. I AM NOT ASKING FOR ADVISE, I AM NOT GOING IN 2007. SO, FOR ME, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. I THOUGHT IF IT WAS TRUE, IT COULD SAVE SOME PEOPLE SOME MONEY, GREAT! YOU WILL HAVE TO CALL YOUR LOCAL AAA TO FIND OUT.

ack....i just booked a quick oct trip for CBR....wonder if this would be a better deal, i went with the link off of the WDW web site for the oct special, but when I calculate it out, I don't think I am getting free dining....actually I am not sure what discount I got!

hmmmm.... I have not heard anything about this. I was just at AAA Saturday booking a trip for December. The agent didn't mention it. The deal I got is the same one you can get on the WDW website and with the codes that are out now. I am getting Magic your way with dining but the dining is not free. :confused3

I just spoke with my AAA travel agent yesterday. She quoted me the same as the WDW website also. No mention of free dining. Our office is gone for the day but I will definitely call her tomorrow. Is there anyone who can double check with their AAA office?

AAA is not offering free dining during this time. It is the same discount that the general public can get direct through WDW.

It is clear you have an error there and why though it mentions the hotels at Disney world does it say Disneyland Vacation package inclusions?
It may in fact be the same computer error I got yesterday for the Coronado Springs that said it included dining but in fact after the reservation was complete did not include it at all.

Wow that really is something! Makes me think it must be some kind of computer error on their end because the price for 2 is more than the price for three (can't imagine any case where this would be so!) Either way you should definitely jump on it. Sounds like a great deal! The deal I got is something like $300+ off regular price (value season) for six nights.

The quote mentioned Disneyland - I dont get it.
I have AAA and I am staying at CBR in november....
I didnt get any quote anywhere like this....if the DINING plan was including...doesnt seem to be ...I would ask if it includes MYW + Dining...OR
just MYW....
This seems fishy - "The quote includes the October - December Magic Your Way Plus Dining option as well." what the heck is that.
I had that price before I added the dining package...I think it was 2212.04
Do you know this agent??!?!

I have no idea what is going on.
That was the email I got and when I talked to her she told me it was free dining and said she double checked the prices. I don't understand how two can be more than three either. However she did tell me the prices were not out for 2008 and I had to tell her they were and she called Disney for my dates in 2008.
As for Disneyland, ever hear of a typo???
Why is it people always make you feel like you did something wrong when reporting something you hope will save them money...very sad indeed!

The October-December MYW option is a discount that came out recently. If you go to the disneyworld.com homepage, in the bottom right hand corner there is a box that says something like "Special Season Savings". Click it, and it leads you to the discounted booking page. Or you could just find it in the Codes and Rates forum under "General Public Rate Codes Released".
However, it says nothing about dining being included, so it could be a mistake on their end. Or it could be a legitimate offer. At this point, we don't know either way. If it is a real option, I'm going to be booking another trip real soon! :thumbsup2
To the OP, I appreciate you posting this, and I'm sure the PP's do too. They are get skeptical because it's seems like a great deal. We know you are just trying to help us fellow Dis'ers out. :flower3:

Sounds like the AAA Travel Agent was using office slang rather than referrring to Disney's Various Dining programs. Some people think of the Dining Your Way plan as Free since they do not pay money for the meal during your trip (you pay in advance). Free Dining from what I know is a lure to attract guest during the prime hurricane season (Aug-Sept).
Also, I have seen issues with the AAA site too. Right now if you try to log on to their site you get a message (see below) stating the system is unavailable between 9AM and 2PM and this window has passed hours ago. It is also very odd time to take a system down during prime business hours unless you have a critical issue to resolve.
AAA System Message:
"We do apologize for the situation, however the AAA site is currently unavailable. We are performing some site maintenance from approximately 9 AM to 2 PM. The site should be available later today."

A couple of weeks ago I was on the AAA website and it had great prices for the All Stars. I think one quote was for 20 cents/night (yes, 20 cents) and various prices like that. Yes, I tried to book it. I received an error message. I forget what it was - something like this offer is not available at this time.
I would love if this was true, and would be on the phone with AAA right now if anyone else had been able to confirm it. However, in this instance, I think the travel agent in question is mistaken somehow.

You also need to remember that both the AAA rooms and the Oct. to Dec. Magic Your Way Plus Dining Offer have limited rooms. If you go to the WDW site and don't click on the special link you won't get the special price.
Even the AAA TA's can mess up. Last year we booked with AAA and the first time she did not put in the correct code and there was a huge price difference. I think that may be what happened here. If the TA does not book WDW alot or really understands all the different codes the come out the consumer can accidentally get screwed.
The AAA packages and the WDW packages are the same. AAA is just selling WDW packages.
The MYW packages come with the room and tickets. You then have the option to upgrade and add the dining or more if you want.
The only free dining is going on right now but it's to late to book it. The Oct. to Dec. Magic Your Way Plus Dining Offer Gives you a bigger discount on the room with the dining package.

AAA does not have any kind of free dining right now- the agent is wrong.
AAA doesn't have special promos like that- they either give you the AAA discount, give you a code available to the general public, or are offering something like a $25 gift certificate for their travel store.

Was this talking to a direct agent or just off the site. If it's off the site, how long does it take for them to get back with you. I sent a request in the other day and never heard anything back. I think I will try again on Monday or call.

Just an FYI - the quote they gave you for 2, is the quote I got from the Disney website using their special link for the discount offered oct-dec. So, that part's right, at least. And, if I worked out the price for the room, tickets, and dining without the deal/package price.... it's pretty much almost exactly as if I am getting the dining for free and paying full price for the rest.

Very often people come in and talk about some absolutely great deal that they got and upon further inspection we find that something has not been included in their quote. Many times when the person calls back to confirm since the are absolutely positive they got what they said and there is no way on here we could possibly know what we were talking about, they have found that the dining or ticket add ons were left off of the quote.
Try getting a quote again or just tell them you want to book it. they should give you an option of having 2 weeks to put the money down and they will hold it for you. They should folllow that with a written (email or reg mail) confirmation of exactly what you have booked not some garbled version of what they have available. Some Double checking is definitely in order. I mean throwing in changing your party size was just plain confusing. Your party is what it is changing it won't help. Using Disney's link to the current GP code for the fall, I get the 2450ish number with 2 adults one child and 10 day base tickets (no hopper/wp). And I got the 2060 number by using the GP link with the 2 adults 1 child 10 day hopper/wp exactly as you stated. This doesn't include the dining. SO if you are infact getting dining with this it would look as if it is free. However that would mean you are already getting a few hundred savings from your room cost (the GP code) then on top of that meaning you got your dining for free. Disney won't allow that so that means that AAA would be paying disney about 800 towards your vacation because disney will still be asking for that total. That doesn't make sense.

I went to our local AAA office yesterday to attempt to get quotes for our planned WDW trip next August. The Disney "specialist" was helping another customer and while I was waiting I overheard their conversation. Let me just say that I am not so certain I will be booking through this office unless there is a huge AAA savings. The TA apparently knew less than I do about WDW. The customer in front of me was elderly and was planning a trip to WDW with her teenage grandson. She also said a friend told her there was a dinner with the characters and she would like to reserve that -the TA said "Oh, that's Cinderella's Royal Table." I seriously doubt a teenage boy would be interested in that one! The grandmother obviously knew nothing about Disney and was asking for two connecting rooms for the two of them. The TA told the lady if she wanted a refrigerator she would have to stay in the moderate or above, she never told her the nightly rate for any of the rooms, and she then told her most of the rooms were unavailabe due to an earlier free dining discount for that time period. The grandmother about cried when she got the quote of more than 3000.00 for each room. Also, the TA kept pushing the grandmother to purchase the DDP- and since her reservations were during the free dining in just a few weeks, I seriously doubt she could get any ADR and especially not at CRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I left without seeing the outcome, but I felt like jumping in to help the poor grandmother plan her trip!!!!
PS Anyone know a good AAA travel agent I can contact for quotes?

I was just reading this and wondering how the OP made out with the quote. I know that the quote was for this year and not next, but it would be interesting to see the outcome.
It does appear that when the OP went in to get a quote from the Disney website she did not go in and get the quote using the special that is going on but rather got the rack rate quote.
I put in her dates using the special link and for 2 adults and one child the price through Disney is 2830.75 including the trip insurance and not the 3463. that she posted.....however 2830.75 is still quite a lot more than the 2065.16 that AAA quoted her .
It actually looks as though the AAA quote could be 1 adult and 1 child, when I put those numbers in I get a quote from the Disney website of 2045.66, this is before the trip insurance which does not seem to be included in the AAA quote.

When I booked my fall package discount through disney the CM on the phone, told me that it was basically free dinning, with the savings! So I suppose it is whatever lingo they want to use, and people will take them literally, when really it is a savings of $$ rather then a free dinning promotion!

I'm not even sure CM's should be saying that. With the discount that we switched to we are saving $52 a day. That is not even close to the price of the 3 adults that are going on our trip. It's still a nice savings and will be used else where on our trip but not " free dining" savings worth.
beth_cam
08-31-2007, 10:15 AM
However if your party was 1 adult, 1 child the $52/day would be greater than the 50 a day dining would cost, or if you are alone. The cm was saying in the pp posters case that it was 'basically free dining' as in the savings for that poster worked out as well as free dining. It is still misleading to someone who doesn't know enough to understand the differences, though.

Just my .02, but I think someone messed up at the AAA office. ;) This is what I don't understand about their offer - in the AAA info it says "We also priced this exact package based upon just 2 adults traveling and the rate is $2,452.70.(Your eyes are not playing tricks on you, 2 is more expensive than 3 in this case). What? :confused3
How could 2 be more expensive than 3, when 3 is supposedly quoted from them with dining and tickets (PH + Water Parks) = just based on those items alone, 3 would have to be more than 2, wouldn't it?
Too bad you couldn't jump on that deal - I bet someone would be in trouble and it wouldn't be you! :rotfl:

Hi...I just repriced it out for you. I am a former AAA agent and can still log into the site. Not that I ever book for anyone on there, but I do a lot of comparing.
