Do any of you think it's a perk or bonus of FW that you have recycling bins within walking distance of your campsite? I love that they're so convenient and that Disney has Jiminy running around making sure the parks and resorts have environmentality.

I think it's kind of both. It's a perk that they have them there, so that we are able to recycle what we can. It's a bonus that they are so close ;)

I love that people take advantage of them, too. I've never been to the Fort and the bins weren't at least half full (of course that might be because they empty them only once a month!? Have you ever seen anyone empty the recycling bins? I've never seen if they do it when they pick up the garbage).

I believe they do it when they pick up the garbage. What I've always wondered is how those small garbage cans don't totally overflow??? Just seems like they're always right on the brink of coming out the top of the can, then they're empty.

Did I read here recently that someone ran over a garbage can and it goes farther into the ground than in seems? Or maybe I dreamt that? It's sad that I'd admit to the possibility of dreaming about a FW garbage can!

I do know that they go bit deeper into the ground than it appears. A couple times when they've been empty I've dropped a big in and seen it go down a few feet farther than I expected.

I think they set them in the ground so that when I hit them with my trailer they don't go flying across the campground. ;) :scared1:

Maybe they set them in the ground so they won't be projectiles during a hurricane! One less thing to pick up / tie down! (And replace after the storm!)

Cabin stayer here. What happened to the recycle boxes they had outside every few cabins? We drink a lot (hee hee) and I used those all the time. Then in June they were gone! At least in my loop (2600).
