Anyone from NJ going to WDW in Sept

My fiancee and I will be there honeymooning at the very end of September (I guess by then he will be my husband :thumbsup2 ). We are going on a Carnival cruise first though from 9/22 to 9/29 then will be at Disney from 9/29 to 10/02.

We arrive 9/22 till 9/29, my husband, DS12 & DD10 and I, will be staying at POR also. We should all meet one day.

If figure taking the kids out early in the year(marking period) they have plenty of time to make it up.

We'll be there September 22-30. We are also pulling the kids out of school right after they start. I'd rather pull them out then so we don't have to wait a long time for the rides and it's not so crowded. The heat and lines for me don't work.:scared: I'm more miserable than the kids!!!!!

ALLSTARFAN707...I grew up in Northfield but we live in UpperDeerfield now near Bridgeton.

I agree with you...The heat is the real reason why I don't vacation in Fl during the Summer. In my early twenties, I went to FL in Aug to visit a friend and going from the heat to the AC just about killed me. I was sick the whole time.

I think one of the main reasons we moved back to NJ from Nashville was because of the heat. You can't beat 4 seasons.

Yep, I'm pulling my daughter out 7 days after school starts, and then AGAIN in May for a week! We did it last year, and in our town, there were quite a few people who pulled their kids out for vacation. As long as her schoolwork doesn't suffer, we'll continue to. :banana:

OK other Jersey moms...am I the only one starting to feel guilty because I'm taking DS out of 1st grade after only 10 days of school??? I felt no guilt when booking the trip...but now as the time is getting closer I'm afraid of what his teacher will think. I keep telling mself it's only 1st grade and it's better to do it inn the beginning of the year...right??:confused3

I'm a teacher and I NEVER was upset when parent's want to take their kids on a vacation to WDW. However, the beginning of the year, and especially 1st grade, is probably the MOST important time for your child to be in school. That's when the routines for the year are set and practiced and the children get to know each other and the teacher. However, now that the trip is set, go and enjoy. Just make sure that when you return you make sure to check and see what all your child missed. JMHO, I am sure others would disagree.

Besides, that......don't the rest of you know that Jersey week is in November when the whole public school system shuts down for 2 days for the teacher's convention? :teacher:

We're in.. Sept 11th - 18th

Ds 2nd grade starts on the 6th. But our schools have the 13th and 14th off for Yom Kippor (sp?) so he isnt missing alot. Other DS goes to a handicapped school and the experience is more important for him..
We also am pulling them in Feb for a cruise.. Get it in while I can..

it will be my daughter's first time flying. she will understand Epcot (she slept through the countries in the stroller last time). life experiences.

i am going to miss back to school night- first time ever. felt guilty for a few minutes. oh well. what is really terrible- i went vacation shopping and forgot all about school shopping! :confused3 . i was checking the mail for ME and she was waiting for her bus pass and homeroom assignment!
