Having been to WDW many, many times over the last few years and being told that Disneyland is "not as good" as WDW, I was a little sad while anticipating our Southwest USA trip.
We booked our 3 night stay at Candy Cane Inn and between the Inn and DL, WOW!
Disneyland is so much more compact, with shorter buildings and mature landscaping. The rides seemed more detailed and had nicer waits/lines.
We were only able to go for a day and a half with our 2 day PH's and we really didn't see everything but boy did we have fun!
The Candy Cane Inn deserves its great rating. It is clean and has excellent customer service. I have only been this one time (DL newbie) but will be happy to answer questions. I have a few photos as well. :cutie:

Yes we went to DCA, although I don't remember too much about it. I know that I won 3 stuffed animals playing the games and we went on the ferris wheel with the moving seats. I couldn't stop screaming/laughing. I was hysterically terrified, I guess. :scared1:

My DH told me that everyone was looking at me and laughing. :confused3
I was oblivious to anything but myself. :)

Some people refer to those as the EVIL, EVIL gondolas!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:
I've never been on them, nor will I ever try to go on them. My DD and her friend went on them, and were terrified. Said that was the scariest ride they had ever done. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :rotfl2:

Stick to the stationary gondola cars. You get a great view of the park without the puke factor!:lmao:

I was kind of scared to go on the moving gondola after hearing about them. Watching people get sick after getting off of them didn't help. Surprisingly, it was my 3.5 yo son's favorite ride. He was laughing so hard as I was holding onto him for dear life so he wouldn't fall on the floor.

I'm glad you had a GREAT time at DL!!

Glad you got to go to Disneyland. We enjoy it so much and try to get down there at least twice to 3 times a year. Disneyland is where is all started. As for the Gondolas when riding the moving ones YIKES!!! Everytime we get on them that first swing in a killer on the stomach I try to avoid it as much as possiable but it has good photos

I am so excited it exceeded your expectations. Thats wonderful to hear you had the time of your life there. Any disney park is wonderful but to try something different and new and to enjoy it is a blessing.

I am so glad you enjoyed DL!! I must say that I have been to WDW and while it is amazing, DL will always be my favorite! It is the original after all. :thumbsup2 I love the swinging gondolas! Am I crazy?? :rotfl2: I think they are so much fun! Problem is no one will ever ride them with me. Did you do Tower?? :scared1: I will actually be going to WDW again in January and I am really excited as I havent been in about 11 years. But I have been to Disneyland well over 50 times in my life! :cloud9:

I wish that we had stayed at least a complete week at the Candy Cane Inn and DL. (250 yards from the main park entrance, but the CCI shuttle is wonderful.)
:wizard:

We left DL and stayed in Palm Springs area (Indian wells) for 4 days, then Las vegas for a week. (flew into ONT out of LAS) :confused3

The whole DL experience is so different. At WDW there are so many roads every which way.

At DL the main entrance is on the same road as the surrounding hotels. The non park hotels are closer to the parks than most of the onsite hotels at WDW. The weather was awesome... 70's/low 80's and DRY, even breezy. And it is just beautiful...not trashy or dirty. :flower3:

If I ever do a Disney vacation in the summer, it will be DL not WDW from now on.:cutie:

(We did not go on TOT. We did the WDW/MGM one twice in the past and that was enough.):scared1:

The Ferris wheel didn't make me sick it was just :scared: . I had one leg braced on the seat across from me and I was hanging on to a thin piece of the side of the cart thing for dear life. Oh my dear, what a vision of grace!:lmao:

LOL!! Well I am glad you enjoyed DL so much! That is so wonderful to hear! :goodvibes I love the TOT as well. One of my faves! I cant wait to ride the one in Florida! I will let you know how that all goes! ;)
