I didn't see it posted anywhere, so I thought I would take the opportunity to post it.

Of note:

Bringing back RAW (What were they thinking with the G7)
12.1 MP - on a small sensor P&S - got noise?

At any rate - the still new G7 owners probably aren't happy with Canon about this one.

I was considering a G7 just to have in my back pocket when an SLR is too big. I liked the widescreen aspect ratio of the G7 but was bummed out that they got rid of the RAW capture. As a result I never did buy the camera since it just didn't have everything I was looking for. I'm going to have to check out the G9 and see if it overcomes some of the shortcomings of the G7. The 1.7" sensor could be problematic but as long as I am aware of it and not try to make this camera do something beyond its range I'll probably be ok.
