Hmm... tough category indeed. I have some Illuminations shots that I really like but I'm going to avoid going the fireworks route. I really like this one, one of my "re-discoveries" when going through my RAW shots for a second time, months after the actual trip.

A little more "earthy" than "bright and glossy" but that's OK for a change. :)

Thanks :) It is one of my favorite shots from our June trip. It was taken with a Canon 30D using my canon 28-135 IS lens - hand held set at 28mm. ISO 400, f/3.5 shutter speed was 1/10. I am pretty sure I had the camera set in shutter priority. 1/10 is about as slow as I can get hand held and have it not come out blurry with my IS lens.

Editing to say - I am seriously doubting that I used the 28-135 IS lens for that photo. That seems like a pretty large aperture for that lens - it doesn't open up that wide does it? It was probably my sigma 28-70.

::yes::

Thanks guys!!! As all of you who take fireworks shots know, its just luck!

It is the Canon Powershot 550, on night setting, and that is 8/18 at the Pirates and Princess Party. Basically I just held the button down and took shot after shot. (no tripod) When I got home like 35% were blurry and the rest came out really good.

This community as helped me take better photos, I had no idea what an ISO among other things, was before I got over here. Now my macro photos, night shots and framing are just great, and I have all of you to thank!!! :)

I know how to look that up when its on my computer, but I didnt know the info sticks with it after you upload it to a photo site! Thats so cool! How do you find it out? Is it just in properties?

it depends on what web browser your using some have the feature built in others you need an add on

If your using IE do a google search on Opanda.

Not every pic will show you the data, it depends on how it was saved and what site it is hosted at.

Thanks so much for posting the Opanda link. It's such a useful tool! I'm having a good time looking at exif info. Just mine so far. Haven't figured out how to look at anothers pics. Prob won't unless the poster states it's ok.

...and if you use Firefox, grab FXiF (http://ted.mielczarek.org/code/mozilla/fxif/), does basically the same thing but is a small little add-on rather than a standalone program.

It's one of my gotta-have Firefox extensions any time I'm setting up a new PC now. :)
