View Full Version : What made you proud of YOU today?

Okay, I'll admit it. I got sucked into the Biggest Loser reruns this summer and I love the show - can't wait to see the season this year! I think if I could have one day with Bob as my personal trainer, I would have died and gone to fitness heaven. But the biggest inspiration I have taken from the show is the theme song from the last few seasons, "Proud". I have the lyrics printed out on my office wall and the song downloaded to my iPod for walking motivation. But I have also been taking the main line to heart and trying to answer it every day:
"What have you done today to make you feel proud?"
I decided to start a thread where we could post what it was out of every day that made us proud. Small, large, anything. I feel so good about myself when I can pick out something I did every day that made me proud of myself.
So I'll start - and since my day is only a few hours old, I'll start with yesterday:
I am proud because I walked up 14 flights of stairs in the parking garage at the Mall of America when the elevators broke down - and although I was winded and definitely got my heart rate up, I felt strong and accomplished and not shot for the whole day like I would have a few months ago.
Anyone else???

My first thought was for something I did yesterday, not today. Although I went into the store where I buy Krispy Kreme donuts (my major weakness), I resisted buying any. But don't wave a KK sprinkle donut too close in front of me!

I'll start with yesterday too. I walked 4.5 miles with DH.
Congrats to everyone and thanks for starting this thread! I hope it catches on.
I'm in a wedding this coming weekend (which means I need to fit into a little dress!!:scared: ) and I sadly cheated yesterday foodwise... BUT, to try to redeem myself, dh and I went for a run today! It was between 6 and 7km. I must get a pedometer. I hope to do 10km in the next 2 - 3 weeks!

What a great thread!!!!
Let's see.....yesterday I am proud that I finished a three mile tubing excursion on a VERY slow river. I was ready to give up at two miles, but pushed on and finished the three mile trek in 4-1/2 hours.
Today I am proud that I went on a two mile hike to a waterfall and made it back up the 400' trail.

I'll start with yesterday too. I am proud because I had my longest run, 18+ miles and registered for my first marathon.
PS: I couldn't have resisted the Krispee-Kremes mentioned above!

Hi all!!
Today I am proud of myself for making time after work to go for my walk. It was 60 degrees and gloomy with a little wet and I still headed out. And it was great!!!

Great reasons to be proud everyone!!! From the big things to the little things we all should be proud of anything we do for our better health.
Today I am proud that I overcame my aches and pains from the weekend of extensive exercise and I went to Curves to work out through the pain. :)

Wow! This is terrific!
Today I am proud of the fact that I am down a belt notch. Which means all the days I wanted soda and chips and grabbed water and celery are paying off! Viva La 11lbs lost!!

Yesterday I am proud that I went to the gym during my lunch at work and did 47 minutes on the treadmill doing intervals.
I'm also proud that I'm sticking to my eating plan (even though I've been on the high end of my calorie range, actually going over) - I'm still within my WW and flex points so its all good. I think working out is making me really hungry right now.

Great things everyone!!!!
Today I am proud that I went for a walk after work even though I really, really REALLY didn't want to and I still had to go grocery shopping afterwards.
And now I get 3 extra points to eat tonight! :cool1:

I am proud that when I was hungry this afternoon and went to the grocery store I talked myself out of anything bad and ended up with a healthy salad and a low calorie dressing. :)

Tiggerlover - being hungry at the grocery store and getting a healthy salad is....wow. I am speechless and impressed!!! Seriously...hungry at a grocery store is my calorie kryptonite!
Today I feel proud that when I came back from my walk and saw my reflection in the glass door my first reaction was: "those shorts make you look HUGE!". Why? Because they are too big!!!
(yes, I'm working on the negative self talk)

Whew!!!
I am proud today that I did 15 straight minutes on our new elliptical. I did 3 5 minutes runs on it yesterday, but today just clicked. I guess all the walking has paid off - I'm in better shape than I thought!

You are an inspiration! Keep up the great work!
I am proud I didn't get that ice cream that I was contemplating buying tonight. :) I came home and had cottage cheese instead.

I'm proud I brought blueberries to the beach today as a snack and ate them! And didn't have any cookies that were there.

I signed up to run an 8k with my boyfriend and his family. It's a stepping stone towards our goal of running the Disney World Half in January.

yesterday I went clothes shopping and tried on a bunch of clothes. I found a suit that was a jacket and skirt in a 14 W and it fit!! Then I actually went to the NON plus size section of the Penneys! I found a size 18 dress and it was too big! wow.
After 30 pounds I finally feel like I am doing something.

I love all your reasons!!! I've been doing this every night when I walk - I have the BL soundtrack on my iPod and I think about what it is that made me proud of me during the day and I think about this thread.
Today I have three things:
1. I maintained my cool today in the middle of major tizzies at work. I am feeling better about how I handle stress as I get healthier and I think today was a great example of it.
2. I wore a new shirt that is brighter and more fitted than usual and I am proud I dared to wear it and I think I looked pretty darn good!
3. I am proud I didn't cry at my DS's Kindergarten open house tonight. I wanted to, but I didn't. Seeing his name up all in places all over the room made me realize my little boy is growing up and is a real school ager now.
:sad1:
So how about the rest of you?

I am so happy to read about all the good things my WISH friends are celebrating about themselves. I am going to take a page from your book and really try to look back at the end of every day and find something to be proud of (and that might help me to NOT make the bad choices that are all too often a part of my evenings).
I am proud that last night I bought resistance bands and did 25 abduction and 25 adduction leg lifts on each leg, with tension, on my bedroom floor instead of eating chips or pretzels down in the kitchen.

Dh lost a lot of weight when I was preggo with my last DD (I had lost a bunch before to get preggo with her) and today I finally tied with him. Now to be less than him, he is 6' and I'm only 5'4''.
He used to weigh about 50 pounds more than me and I weigh 15 pounds less than when I met him and got married.

I'm proud that I came back to WISH today and signed up for the Biggest Looser challenge!
September always feels like the new year to me (and it's been a LOOOOOONG time since school). I always am the most successful with 'fall' projects, so it's time to get back on track with diet and exercise!

Today I went across town to another Curves because the Curves I go to was closed for the holiday. Then after lunch we went to the ocean front and went for a three mile walk. I am pooped, but feel good about the exercise I logged in today.

Wow....today I am having a down diet day so I am going to reach here to find something I am proud of.
Today I am proud that even though I feel like I am not making great diet choices and even though I feel like I am failing today I made it within my points, got all my healthy checks and I walked for 45 minutes.
So I am proud that I am working through a massive case of PMS to still stay OP.

We were having a bake sale at work to benefit a charity and I resisted all urges to buy those goodies. I just kept thinking "is eating that brownie going to be worth the points you'll lose?" If I had the choice between eating a brownie or having my dinner and a small low point snack later at night..I'm going with dinner and the light snack.
Let me tell you I really WANTED that brownie, but I didn't NEED the brownie.

Hello-
I'm proud of myself because I finally went for a walk after supper and didn't just sit on the couch. I walked for 30 minutes and tried to walk faster than my lunch-time strolls at work.
I'm also proud because I went to Target to try on some clothes that were in their weekly ad. The slacks I tried on were too big. I didn't like the style so didn't bother with a smaller size. I tried on 3 tops and each one was too big. I don't know if any of you watch "What Not to Wear" on TLC, but I've become addicted to it. Not that I dress well at all, but anyway. When I tried on the tops I could just hear Stacy & Clinton telling me to get a smaller size! That felt good.

I'm proud of myself because yesterday I only ate one hamburger at my BBQ and I filled up on veggies. I really wanted that 2nd burger, but I resisted and I am so happy that I did.

Today I am proud of myself for actually getting up and exercising when the alarm clock went off. For WEEKS now I have told myself "Tomorrow I'm getting up early & exercising before the kids wake up," and then I put it off until the NEXT week because I don't do it on day one. Sound familiar to anyone?
Today is my day one. :)

I am proud that I went out for dinner with a friend and I ate wisely (I think). I had water and chicken fajitas, but I didn't eat the flour tortilla and I didn't have cheese. I only ate a couple of the chips and dip too, so I think I did well. I *WANTED* to eat it all, but I didn't, so I am proud of me.

I am proud that tonight when I ordered chicken strips (9 pts) at dinner, I was satisfied after 2 of the 4 and I stopped eating them (so 4.5!).

I am proud that of all the folks I had lunch with I was the only one to resist the bread basket and butter. I opted for a salad with no croutons....it's a feat at this place, too, as they have homemade cornbread, yeast rolls, blueberry muffins, and pumkin muffins in that basket of sin!

I'm proud that I blew off happy hour, had a greek salad for dinner and swam for 50 minutes!!! :cool1:
Congrats everyone!!!! This thread is soooo inspiring!
I'm proud for running my FIRST 10km this morning!!!!! Woohoo!! I have been running 5km 3 times a week all summer, and just gradually added distance to them. This morning was my first 10km and I'm just thrilled! The best thing is that I don't feel sore/injured at all. I could almost do it again.....almost! ;)

Hi everyone!!
Today I had a big non scale victory - I was walking down a sidewalk and looked up to see my reflection in a window. I am proud that not only did I keep looking, but that I didn't hate what I saw.

Good for you!!! I had a busy weekend where I went out to dinner twice and both times I resisted the bread and butter. If this was a few years ago, that NEVER would have happened, but I am really starting to eat like I should. I'm proud of that.

Hello everyone!!!!
Today I am proud that I got back to eating lots of veggies - fresh. I've been relying more on fruits than veggies and I knew I had to get back.
Now...if only I could reduce my salt....:rotfl:
How about you all??

I also try to eat alot of fresh fruits and veggies. Even though you've been eating more fruits than veggies, I don't think that's a bad thing. It's certainly better than eating junk! You are feeding your body nutritious food with plenty of anti-oxidants. That's the important thing.
Do you feel you are getting too many calories from the fruit?
Yesterday, my fruits were: 4 oz. o.j., 1 banana, 1 apple, 1 orange. My veggies were: 2 tomatos, 2 cups zucchini, 1 cup salad (assorted greens).
I should also be eating more veggies.
Keeping with this thread, I am proud that I really wanted the piece of leftover birthday cake that was in my fridge, but I RESISTED.

I am proud of the fact that even though I am exausted (very stressful last week. Mom had the lapband surgery on Thursday and I stayed with her that night and then had an 1hr 20min commute in on Friday and have been burning up the highway everyday since) I walked the dog last night before going to bed and then got up extra early to walk him this morning because I will not be home until late tonight. Now I am fighting the urge to grab a soda. I think I will have some unsweetend tea instead.
