Hi All!

I'm Ashley and I'm applying for the Vet Hospital PI starting in Jan 2008. Anyone else hoping for a Spring PI, I figure even if we aren't accepted yet, we can get through this together!

Thanks for starting this Ashley! Have you sent in your application yet? I have not started yet, as I am still getting packed up to go to D.C. for the fall for another internship, so I should probably start soon. I'm Emily, by the way, and I am going to apply for the Management in operations and food and bev, and maybe a few others.

I applied for an Industrial Engineering PI for Spring 2008, got my first interview over with and awaiting a second one (hopefully!) I am really crossing my fingers and I know it could be a while before I hear back from anyone...

Yeah! So glad people are responding. Emily, yes I have applied, and I was contacted via email to fill out a general WDW application and verify that I met the basic requirements. That was about a week ago, still waiting to hear more. Erik, congrats on your first interview and good luck!

So, i've been in contact with the person in charge of Animal Programs via email. Hearing what others have to say, I'm finding that Animal Programs has a different process when it comes to hiring. I have had to quite a bit of email communication and sending documents, etc...but no word about phone interviews yet. Doesn't surprise me, but weird... Good Luck on your interview Beenie!

Hey ya'll! I've just put in my application for three positions: DEG/Client Concierge, Wedding Dept., and Guest Relations.

I went through the whole process at this time last year, but had to decline my offer due to a family medical emergency that required me to stay at home. I'm very hopeful that I'll be making my way east in January...

Where's everyone from?

My first interview went really well, and I am moving on to next step. I am really excited and hope I get something, although they said it could be months until I hear something, as they have until December to decide. I currently live in Orlando, and am graduating college this December! Good Luck to everyone!! :)

Last year when I began the process, I applied in June, but since the interview process didn't begin until August, I had to wait a while. Now, I've just applied as the process has already begun for some people. If you've just recently applied, how long was it before you were contacted about your initial interview?

I applied for three PIs. Group/Convention Public Relations, Travel Marketing PR, and Media Relations.

I did my inital interview about a week ago... I'm really not able to handle this! I am terrible at the waiting game!

I would love some company while I wait!

I'm a 2 time CP and 1 time AI (Advanced Internship) and I just applied for three Management Internships; Recreation, Operations (where I did my 2 CPs), and Sports Complex (where I did my AI).

Judging from what I've seen on this board, am I too late :O...I don't think I am...it's just crazy that they're already interviewing people!!!

I'm also a graduating master's student...probably counts against me...but we'll see...

Good luck to those going through the process...it's nerve-wracking, but you'll survive!

Just had my first phone interview...they said that Park Operations was behind most of the other areas...they are probably waiting until they get a good number of applicants before they divide them up and start sending them to operating areas...

Recreation and the Sports Complex have already begun reviewing applications, they said....so those calls could come at any time.

Finally, they said that if you don't hear anything by Thanksgiving, you're not going to hear anything...and if they aren't interested in talking to you, you won't get anything...

I think my first interview went well...just filled out the application and I'm going to express it to them tomorrow...

Keep your fingers crossed!!!

I received a call last week, scheduled my interview, and completed that last night. I was hesitant to prioritize my positions, but since she asked, I figured it wouldn't hinder me. I decided that DEG and Weddings were a tie for my first choice, and Guest Relations being my second, but tried to emphasize that I would be thrilled to be offered a position in any capacity...

...as I mentioned, I've been through this just last fall, so I kind of knew what to expect, but of course the perfect words escaped me once the questions started coming. Overall though, I'm pretty confident with the way it went, but was a bit shaky on some of my responses. I just wanted so badly to impress the interviewer!

Anyway, I'm about to mail out my signed application, and obviously hoping the process goes quickly from this point on. While I know it probably won't, I can at least hope that my daily life will keep me distracted. At the very least, I can daydream about my annual October trip to Food & Wine while I wait to hear!

Wow, that was a mouthful... any news from the rest of you?!

I applied for several as well. Entertainment Management, Ticket Sales, and Casting. I would be thrilled to do any of them. Had my interview about a month ago. They told me the same things as they told you. That it could be months before I hear anything. That is so hard for me. I have no patience. I hope I at least get to the next step by October. I would assume by Thanksgiving you should already know because you should be notified by November. As far as the application goes...I hear you guys saying you mailed it in. Perhaps I am confused. I did an application on the disney job site, I wonder if that is perhaps the same thing.

Thanks again for starting this, Ashley!

I applied for the Management Operations internship on August 4th and didn't hear anything. On Tuesday, I went back to my profile and realized that I hadn't attached my resume to my profile, and did that. Amazingly, I got a call that same day to schedule a phone interview. So, my first phone interview is going to be tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.

I'm going to apply for the Communication Technology and Media Relations internships this week. Hope I have the same result on those two also!

I'll keep everyone updated. I hope to hear good news from everybody!

There is actually a paper application that you must fill out online and submit via mail to them...that is, if you make it to the point where they forward on your application to hiring departments...

Amazing news! I've been recommended for a second interview. :yay: Now, the waiting game begins!

Hopefully, the boards will keep me sane.

BTW, does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay while on the PI? I've read that Northbridge is really far away from Disney, so I'm looking for something closer but that won't break my bank. Any feedback is very much appreciated.

P.S. It's so cool that my 100th post contains such good news! :cool1:

It depends on how much money you plan on spending for rent. Mirabella is in World Gateway, it's literally a 3 minute drive from Walt Disney World property. It's gorgeous, I have a bunch of friends who live there.

Parc Vue and Alexandria are also really nice and close to property, though they're on the other side by the back of MK...turn left on the road off 535 like you're going to Ale House and keep going.

Sabal Palm is really close too, it's across 535 from Vista Way and Walgreens...but it's an older complex.

I'm not sure if these places do 6 month leases though, they're MUCH closer than Northbridge, which is all the way by Millenia.

I'm currently looking at a complex in World Gateway and I've had conversations with the leasing manager. Did most of your friends get apartments together? I'll probably be coming into the PI by myself unless I meet some potential roomies (hint, hint), although I don't mind getting a place all to myself. If I do that, I'll be looking at price for sure!

Yeah, everyone I know has apartments together, actually my friends take up 3 condos, cause a bunch of them wound up living together after the college program.

Try myspace and facebook groups for potential roomies. I would def suggest living out of Northbridge.

IF I get an internship, I am thinking about moving out towards the Hunters Creek area. It is about 15 minutes from Disney off the 417, which is a toll road that goes right into Disney. It is a little more expensive but the area is a lot nicer IMHO. I personally do not really want to live too close to Disney as it tends to be a little touristy to me. Northbridge is far too and I have not heard too good of things about it (and management interns are not allowed to live there) and there is sometimes traffic on I-4 which can be a pain. I have a friend who lives out in Hunter's Creek right now and she has a 7-month lease so thats what I will be looking at. I have lived in Florida for over 20 years and currently live about 10 minutes from Disney in on campus housing, but will be graduating in December and will have to move out. I am very familiar with the entire Central Florida area so if anyone has any questions just let me know! Melissa

I am hoping to live in Celebration. It's so close to Disney, and a favorite spot of my parents, so they'd be comfortable with me staying there. Rent for condos is definitely pricey, but you can find garage apartments for a decent monthly rate--some are furnished and include all utilities!

Anybody heard back and gotten their second interview? I wish there was a way to track if my paper app. got down to Florida... Oh well, don't ya'll just love the waiting game?

Oh, and since it's very possible (think positively!) that we may meet each other in a few months, feel free to add me on MySpace or Facebook (link in my sig.).

I did my second interview last night, so I guess now I have to play the waiting game for awhile.

Celebrations nice, but it's incredibly pricey for what you get. I had one friend who rented there...it's fairly steep. My family looked into getting a vacation home there, but when they found out that the prices of homes were as much as the New York metropolitan area in central Florida (where land and property value are MUCH cheaper) they opted for DVC instead. I'm not complaining though, now we own a piece of the magic ;) lol

I applied back in August and didn't get my first interview until a month later. I wouldn't worry yet! I do have a question for those that mailed in an application. I received an email telling me to fill out an application, but there weren't any instructions telling me to send it in. Those that mailed an app, did it tell you to mail it in??? All the email said was to fill this out and "bring it with me" and on my online profile it still has it listed as a Task to Complete. Anybody know??

I guess I'm just worried cuz it's so close to the end of them taking applicants. Is not having a cover letter going to hinder my resume? =\ I don't have one. I know I could always type one up for all three of the positions, but I don't really know where to start. I don't really even think my resume is that great though.. ugh. I'm so paranoid right now that I won't even get called for my first interview.

The e-mail that I received explicitly told me to complete the application, print it out, and mail it in... It is my guess that because this isn't an across the board standard, it depends on which departments you apply to. Also, even though I've completed those steps, it's still in my "tasks to complete" section as well.

Don't worry about not hearing yet, they've still got a week until they stop taking apps., which means they'll be doing interviews for quite some time. I'm anxious to hear back from any three of the departments, but it's my understanding that some of them wait to receive all applications before they move forward with the second round. If that's the case, I've got a couple weeks to hear back.

As far as the cover letter goes, I didn't have one last year when I went through the process and got an offer--it probably doesn't hinder you too much. But if you want to boost your application, maybe you could write a general one about why you want to return to work at Disney...

Just wanted to say that today is the deadline to apply for a PI.

On October 1st, I received a phone call from Disney regarding the PIs that I applied to (I applied to the first one on September 24th and the last one on September 30th).

On October 3rd, I had my phone interview with Susan. She said that I should be hearing something back in 2-3 weeks (if things went well). If I don't hear anything by the first week of December, then they have made all their decisions.

Good luck to everybody! :)

Hey guys! This is my first post since two years ago when I was applying for the college program...the anticipation is still killer

I actually applied for three internship for the spring in Floral Events, Entertainment Management for the DEG, and Merchandise Events and I still haven't heard anything. I still keep in touch with my homeroom manager from the program and she told me certain departments don't even start interviewing until the deadline has passed. Hello everyone! I applied for 5 (great scots!) PIs last Friday. Well, I sent in my portfolio/transcript on Friday, while the online application was done earlier. I received a call today to schedule my 1st telephone interview on Wednesday.

I'm so nervous! I graduated this past May, so I didn't apply earlier since I didn't think I was eligible. Just the other week, someone @ Disney responded to my eligibility question and said that you can apply up to 6 months after graduation. So.. that's where I am now :)

I applied for the Travel Industry Creative Development, Art-Entertainment, Creative Assistant, Creative Services/Graphic design, and the Communication planning graphic design/journalism internships. I figured that I ought to apply for as many as possible, since I was never a CP... not sure how good my odds are.

Oi! I'm such a rambler XD What kind of questions do they ask for the first interview?

I would love to do some networking! It seems it occurs without fail on all of my trips thus far, it's just so hard to plan.

The only position I applied for that I see as directly accessible is Guest Relations. Would ya'll suggest talking to Cast Members in this position, or going as far to request to talk to management?

I'd love to talk to someone with DEG and the Wedding Dept., but they're never really not busy when you see them in the common areas...

The one I want the most is Food and Bev Management, and I'm currently working in QSFB at PORS <3 My managers *seem* to support me and what I want to do, but that's about as far as it goes I think =\

My area manager on the other hand, is the one that flat out told me she definitely would NOT recommend me for a prof. internship based on my record card. I mean, like I said, it's not perfect but damn I didn't think it was THAT bad, ya know? I work my tail off at this place, but it seems the one thing that pops out as "bad" (my record card) outweighs extending, coming in on my days off, working doubles, coming in for night shifts the whole week I was deployed and on day shifts at CBR.. etc etc. I know it's not a perfect record card, and it's the main reason I waited so long to apply (the worst thing that could happen is I get rejected.. and I can just try again!) but she was just so harsh about it.

Ugh. Maybe I should hunt down who my recruiter is and have a chitcha with him?

Do you still keep in touch with anyone from the area? I have two managers who are my mentors and when I come in to town, they try and set me up with a formal networking meeting. I would talk to people you already know and then pack disney professional dress clothes just in case you get a meeting. I'm not so sure though about making cold calls. I read networking tips on the portal once which discouraged it. Just so you know, I checked back on the DEG internship I'm applying for and it was still open for applications. The client concierge was still open to. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I thought I would pass it on.

I *Just* got back from Food and Wine yesterday...I mean, 5 days at WDW :)

Do some of the free wine tasting seminars at WOL! I fell in love with a german wine there, and I snuck a bottle to put in my boyfriends Christmas stocking, since he's obsessed with it now too and after F&W, it'll no longer be in the states.

The 12th Anniversary beer at Sam Adams in AA is actually good this year, last year the 11th Anniversary brew was way too dark and heavy.

I don't think your record card comes into play until after the first interview. Do you still meet transfer guidelines? One of my co-interns had had a less the sparkling record card but still managed to get the internship, but if you aren't eligible for a transfer than it might become more of an issue. I agree with everyone else who said to make contacts. The only thing about that is mangment internships are global so it could be ANY F&B manger who is doing the hiring. Good Luck, though! :goodvibes

I don't meet transfer guidelines =( I have more than 5 attendance entries, and I've signed for my seconds reprimand two montsh ago, although it hasn't shown on my record card yet. Being the honest person I am, I brought thisup to my managers. My record card has been clean of attendance violations (usually ONE minute late, thanks security) since August.

All of the points that made up the first reprimand (mostly half points/lates) were due to the "van" system for my resort. It was anywhere from 5-30 minutes late everyday. I finally flew home and got my car, and I've only been late (by one minute, none the less) twice since June. The other two points from my second reprimand were call ins. People get sick, it happens, I'm only human, you know?

Anyway.. my hopes are very slim right now. It's the 10th and I still haven't heard anything. It would have been nice to even get a first phone call and explain my record card, but I doubt at this point I'll get that luxury.

I just wanted to tell you I worked QSFB at Port Fall 06 so I can understand about the record card situation.....When I was there we only got 1 day off a week and any requests for extra days (even just one additional to the 1 they gave us off) was denied. So out of the 50 CPs that started at Port Orleans, just about everybody called in the 3 sick days and in the end only about 20 of us (if that many) actually finished the program. Oh well, if things don't work out this time, you will still have time to do a PI. You should be ok 6 months after your CP. Meanwhile, I haven't heard anything either, and from what I've heard the two Disney Design Group internships I applied for are offering extensions to the interns already there and they don't plan on bringing anyone new in if the extension offers are accepted. Soooooo, I may be out of luck this time around. :sad2:

Granted that yeah we're on 6 days here at PORT adn you're right, we are ALWAYS denied time off, I still love it here. Most of the people I work with kick ***. Was Scott here for your program? He is, by far, my favorite manager; he's so much fun to work with!

And 50 CPs? Wow. There's like 20 of us all together - Fall/Fall Adv/ICP. Apparently we have new people coming, but still we don't have that many people. For Fall Adv, there were only 3 of us.

Meanwhile, I haven't heard anything either, and from what I've heard the two Disney Design Group internships I applied for are offering extensions to the interns already there and they don't plan on bringing anyone new in if the extension offers are accepted.

Eep, that doesn't sound so promising... I also applied for a DDG internship. Where did you hear that from?

Also, I had my first phone interview today from Communications Planning. (I applied for 5 internships, though I know they'd have preferred only 3. I graduated from school back in May and I'm nervous about my odds.) It was a conference call, so I was a little more nervous that I would have liked. I think it went well though — I made a few jokes and the people on the other end seemed to chuckle at them.

The only thing that threw me off was hearing that the Casting department didn't send over my "eligibility" results and online application. The whole eligibility thing is getting me nervous, though I emailed questions@disneyinterns.com and I was told that you can apply for a PI up to 6 months after graduation.

I know I'll be devastated if I wind up not even being eligible to try :( This is my last chance to get any sort of internship with Disney and I really, really want a shot at it. I couldn't become a CP because it would have made me graduate a semester late. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but my scholarship @ school is for 4 years only. So... yeah. </ramble>

Sorry for rambling! I'm just so nervous!

There were a lot of us. They needed help ALL the time especially before Riverside got remodeled. And when Blizzard or Typhoon closes most of those people got transferred over to Port and we had a whole lot of ICP from Brazil come too. Scott was there when I was, from what I've heard he is the only manager left from 06. I didn't work with him too much, I usually stayed at FQ.

And about the DDG internship, that came from a character artist intern that is currently down there. Hopefully, it's not all true.

Thank you - you too!

I got an email recently that said they chose other candidates for 4 of the 6 positions I applied for. However, I also got a "Thank you for interviewing" email that said I was chosen to move on in the hiring process.

So maybe there is still hope for the other 2 positions? :scratchin

My first post. I just found this board while looking for information on the professional internship programs.

I applied for Animal Technology Internship and two Conservation Education internships, but except for a short panel interview (15-20 minutes) for the conservation education department, by phone, a few weeks ago I haven't heard from anyone.

Anyone else apply to an Animal Program internship or have any information on how they do their hiring or when they usually contact people regarding their decisions?

Thanks

Hey Everyone!

I just applied for some PI's for Spring 08! (Guest Relations, Youth Events and Weddings) And yikes! It's only been 10 days and I'm dying to hear back from them! Hopefully the fact that I applied so late (Oct. 5th) won't hurt.

Thanks for starting this thread! It's so great to hear from others in the same position! Good luck to everyone!

During my first interview, I was asked to rank my preference of the three positions I applied for. Was anyone else asked this? How did you answer? I ranked two as sharing the top position, but stressed the fact that I would love to be considered for all three. I'm worried that my answer may affect what departments actually got my application packet.

Also, on my DisneyJobs.com account, I have new applications. There are two, both of which are the same as the one I completed and mailed in. Do ya'll think there's a reason or just a computer glitch?

I was asked which 3 internships (out of the ones I applied to) I was the most interested in. I didn't rank the 3, but I just listed them because I would be happy to get any position.

I think that the new applications that show up could be a computer glitch? Because as long as you completed the applications (and got the confirmation email afterwards), you wouldn't need to re-do them. You could call or email your interviewer and ask them why they are showing up.

Also, could you re-word your last question about the email? Sorry, I keep reading it and I'm having a hard time understanding it. :scratchin

Oh, sorry! Since you said you received some e-mails saying they had chosen other candidates, I was wondering what positions those e-mails were in regards to (if you don't mind sharing, of course)...

I talk too much, and I promise I'll shut up after one more question. Situational example: I applied for three different positions within three different departments. If one department calls me, does that mean I am out of the running for the other two?

Well, I've found out that because I don't meet transfer guidelines, I was immediately overlooked. Whatever, screw you Disney. I just landed a job back home as a manager at Friendly's - no interview required. They read my resume, called the location I worked at for almost 3 years, and sent me an email saying "You've got a job when you come home. You were a great employee, and you'll be a great manager as well."

Eh, that's make or break for Disney, especially with attendance. They want a cast member who is reliable. I don't really think it's a matter of screw you Disney, they outline transfer guidelines clearly. I think they were even in our breakroom and office on the walls.

I think I did okay, some of the questions they asked I really did not know how to answer and the fact that I was really nervous. My interview was at 2:30 on friday. They told me they have interviews all this coming week as well, and we might not find out until mid-November, so it looks like more waiting. :scared: I hope you did well, I am still waiting to hear back from the other ones I applied for. My attendance was only bad for the first month.. quite a few lates due to the bus system. Other than that, I've been on the ball about attendance. My record card has been clean for months now. I guess I'm just a little annoyed with how things are going at work right now.

Oh, and no, the transfer guidelines definitely are not posted at my location.. at least not in our area.

I'm real excited to be going home though, the job I was offered brings about great opportunity, as well as a nice salary and benefits. I'm thrilled about the benefits actually =)

Good luck to everyone else though! I hope you all land the positions you've applied for.

I keep looking at housing in hopes that all goes well with my interviews. However, last semester every person I talked to in every interview asked me about housing and this year no one has mentioned anything yet. I was planning on finding my own since Northbridge is so far, but then I heard the rumor that they'd be housing PI's at Parc Vue. I've also heard they're making all PI's find housing on their own... I'm so confused!

Does anybody know if there is any truth to any of these rumors?

On my interview on friday, they told that I will have to provide my own housing. I interviewed for the management internships which are paid on salary, all of the other internships afaik are paid hourly and are offered housing in Northbridge, unless something has changed this year. I've been looking at housing as well since I live on campus and have to move out once I graduate. I am planning on living in the Hunter's Creek area, I find the area right around Disney a little too touristy for where I would want to live. I have not heard any rumor about Parc Vue providing house for PI's either, I know alot of Disney cast members live there though.

They only asked me about housing on my first interview. I told them I wouldn't need it, so I guess they made a note of that.

Parc Vue is so close to property, much closer than Northbridge, so it would be better if you were placed there. You can get housing even if you find out in mid november though, you'll have no problem finding a place.

So I kind of feel like an idiot for saying screw you Disney. I guess I was just a little on the angry side. But, it a weird twist of fate, now that I've got a job waiting for me back home once my program ends, I got a call to schedule an interview!

I missed the call, but had a message saying to call back to schedule an interview for the Cast Deployment internship!

If I get the offer, I have no idea what I'll do, as it will put me much farther behind in school.. but I need a "real" internship to graduate. Who knows...

Two of the three internships I applied for are with the DEG. That's the one I was told was making recruiting trips right now. Have you had the first interview yet? I have another friend who works for a premier event company and she hasn't even had an interview yet. I think that department might just be taking things slow.

Also, I have a friend who got an email from the department that said "just because you haven't heard from us doesn't mean we're not considering you, it just means we already have enough info on some people. That would be ideal! I guess I was expecting to know sooner since I found out in October of last year that I was accepted into the CP. Maybe the smaller applicant pool makes the process more time consuming... :hourglass

I'm looking up garage apartments and one-bedrooms in Celebration so far. I don't necessarily not want roommates, but I think it might be easier to find a place alone. What kind of housing are ya'll loking into?

I just had my first interview!

Those of you who havent heard anything yet, dont give up because it took them forever to make initial contact with me!

I applied to floral design and floral events on sept 26 and finally got a call last thursday Nov 1 to set up my interview today.
This was my first interview, but it was with a floral manager. She seemed to only be doing interviews for the two positions I applied for and said that she hopes to complete them by the end of next week.
For that department (I dont know if she was only referring to floral or to the event group in general) she said they should make their decisions by thanksgiving and then the casting dept is the one who will contact you and give you the official offer. If you do not get it, she said she is planning on personally calling and letting you know after all the offers are made (that would be after thanksgiving/december.)

Again, I dont know if this only applies to the floral positions or not. Hopefully it might help some of you who are stressing (like me) about this whole process!

I would not say they are fairly easy to get into. To be successful, you will need to have as close to a perfect record card as you can manage, support from your leaders and at least some demonstrated talent in the field you are applying to.

That give me so much hope! I applied on September 19th for Floral Events as well as Entertainment Management in the DEG. Hopefully I'll get an interview soon. Good Luck. My former Homeroom manager got moved to that department and she says it's a great place to work!

I just had my first interview with them not even 5 minutes ago. I was nervous the entire time and honestly, I don't feel as if I did that well. I felt awkward and began worrying when I took time to think of an answer because nothing popped in my head right away, which made me more nervous.

They let me know that all decisions will be made by Nov. 2 (next week!) for the Cast Deployment Internship. Oi.. I ope I got it, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high since you're on interview 2, and I'm on interview one.

Have you heard back yet??????

The perks are the same that CPs have. I just got offered housing at Northbridge. I'm doing a PI now and will be doing another one in the spring and my training manager said that they just say that there's a possibility of not getting housing but she's never known them to run out of room. If people don't live at Northbridge it's their own decision not to.

Congratulations to everyone who was offered a position! I do hope that I can be in your position this time next semester.

Anyway, I just have a quick question concerning applying for PIs: should one send in a resume as soon as positions are posted, or should one wait a little bit? Does this have any effect on the final outcome? Just wondering.

Thank you in advance for your responses! :)

So I got a call today- yes today- offering me a Staging Technician internship starting January. I had to turn them down, cause everything is already set for Spring semester....I waited for so long to hear a yes, and when I finally did it was too late to change my life. I would have needed to find someone to take over my lease in 8 days. Gah. Oh well, it was still a yes! And thats all that counts!
