View Full Version : Can I whine?

OK. I am normally a cheeful person (as some of you may recall!)

Today I got "Transferred" with no warning to someone who promises to be the worst boss I have EVER had. He was just horrible. My staff who was transferred with me keeps asking if everything is going to be ok and I keep smiling and saying sure, but.. I really don't know.

I cried all the way home. Called boyfriend and cried some more. I know it is time to leave this job and I have been leaning that way for a while. I have been there 14 years, but I truly like what I do and I adore my staff. I am so upset tonight. I need a hug (This is when having a long distance relationship is the pits!)

I actually did get an interesting job email via moster.com today and have already sent off my resume. I guess it is time to start hitting the bushes.

Thanks for reading. I'll go get some cheese to go with my whine and be good now.

{{{{HUGS}}}} Carol. Sometimes work can be the pits and who we work for can make such a difference. Maybe this is just a sign that there is something new and exciting out there for you!

I'm sorry Carol. :( It's okay to lean on our shoulders....that's what friends are for. :) Sending you some ~*~pixie dust~*~ and {{{hugs}}}. I hope things work out better for you in the days and weeks to come. :)

Thanks I knew you would tell me it was going to be OK.

I think I need to go check Patrick's countdown page to DISCON II!

Carol, I think the countdown just might depress you more ;) because it's still so far off. I think you should be looking at going to one of the summer meets....they're closer. :D

Job stuff can really get you down.....but you've come to the right place for some 'pep talk' and 'cheer'. :) :) :)

Carol, I certainly understand the whining. Changing jobs after 14 years would be tough, but I know it'll work out for you. Life is too short to have a jerk for a boss. {{{Hugs}}}

Actually the countdown clock did cheer me up. Just knowing I would be back amoung all my crazy DIS friends. (I have friends at home, but they don't do Disney like I do).

My poor long term boyfriend has called several times to make sure I am ok. He even volunteered to help me out if I quit (which I won't - at least not for several months!)

I will survive this. (However, I will not be doing a DVC addon when I go visit Dad this weekend. LOL!)

Poor baby. {{HUGS}} I can certainly understand getting a horrible boss. I've had several. But I bet you can win him over with your charm and personality....

I am hanging in there. For financial reason (ie my stock options vest) I have to hang in there until the end of March.

The worse part is my staff. One of my employees is on loan to another department and is getting married this spring. After hearing the news, she has told me that when her current assignment ends she will be leaving the company. I have another one who I will probably have to tell her that my new boss does not need her skill sets. She will have no problem finding a position, but I hate to do this to her.

Oh well!

I hate working for a crappy boss! In the 11 years I have been at my company, I have had quite a few of them. But, I am still there and they are GONE! I figure I can outlast just about anything! (Although, my last boss was bad! This one more than makes up for it!)

Hang in there carol!

there are worst things than a bad boss - but they are in my 10 worst things for sure. I have had my share - they can made life lousey, you can't sleep at night, and you cry alot. but you are strong person and you will make it. I have been in my job for 30 years - and yes leaving you lose your benefits - however some companies (as I am finding) will go the extra step and you may not lose anything if they really want you.

GOOD LUCK!!!:bounce: :bounce: :pinkbounc :pinkbounc ;)

I hope you find what you want and need.

I'm sorry to hear about your job. I hope things work out for you. I think that you should be your own boss and create your own company. I think that you would be great and successful at it.

Best wishes, Ray

Ray,
Actually 'free lance' consulting is one of the options I am considering. I have a lot of contacts within the company and I think I could find jobs at least while I look for something long term.

I have NEVER been without a paycheck so I think that is the scary part, but ... a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

You guys are great! I am pretty much back to normal now. The next big crisis won't come for another month or so (when I give my notice!)

I'm serious, Carol. I think you have what it takes to be your own boss.

Good luck and best wishes, Ray :)

Thanks for the support you guys! You never know.

Beth, hopefully I won't need too much help. I am a CPA. (Oh dear I just remembered I have to get my CPE on my own now! Hmm. better add that into the budget.)

Ugh.....hate having to do the CPE thing on my own.......Since you're already certified, you should have no trouble free-lancing. I'm certifiable, but not certified!!!! And don't be afraid to start calling in all those "favors"! Get those referrals! We'll be here cheering you on all the way.

Good luck to you, Carol! It's awful when a job you've loved (or at least liked) becomes unbearable because of a boss you can't stand! I just left a job I'd been at for 9 years under similar circumstances. I know without a doubt that I did the right thing in leaving. I hope everything works out OK for you.

Well tomorrow is D-Day. I am handing in my notice. I will work until late March and then I am offically unemployed. OH DEAR! I have to find work so I can come to DISCON II. I have had one interview and have a few prospects so hopefully I will either find a job I like soon or I will start free-lancing!

Thanks for all your kind words. (Tomorrow is NOT going to be fun!)

I DID IT!

I resigned. You cannot believe how happy I am! I know that I don't have a job which is not the ideal, but I am leaving the boss behind. The only sad part is telling my team which I start doing at lunch!

Thanks everyone!
