View Full Version : If you won a Dream Fastpass did you end up using it?

For those who have been lucky enough to win a Dream Fastpass did you end up using it for the attractions that were listed on it? My Dad and I did not want to use the ones we won at MGM because I thought if we took off the tabs it would not look good anymore, because in my opinion it's a fantastic souvenir and looks better when not used.

We won Dream Fast Passes for Magic Kingdom on 8/7, We did use them. Myself and 2 DS did 7 rides and DH and DD did 5 rides. I have a photo of the kids holding up the fast passes. I do wish I took a photo of it before we broke off the tabs but we have the great memories of the rides. Like Space mountian . We have never rode it before == it was soo cool. I told DS6 that next year, he and I wouldn't be soo scared since we know what to expect. We managed 7 rides in under 5 hours and that included Lunch!

My daughter and I won Dream FPs in February. We never needed to use any of the tabs because everything at MGM was a walk-on that day. I'm glad ours still have the tabs, but I probably would have used them if I needed to.

Yes, we received them at AK on the last day of our trip in March. We immediately hit EE again! Then Dinosaur, then safari...can't remember what else. But we loved it and we used it! We were very excited to win them.

We used ours as well. Well, mostly. The dream fastpasses we won at Epcot weren't all used because Honey I shrunk the audience and Maelstrom rarely require them. In all honesty, I'm not even sure why these two attractions HAVE FP in the first place.

We won ours at AK and used it for Kali River Rapids, Expedition Everest and Dinosaur (we won them getting off the Safari). We gave the ones we didn't use to other guests. My in-laws were with us when we won the fastpasses and gave only used it for Kali River Rapids and gave their two dream fastpasses to a lucky couple.
While they were a nice souvenier (we only kept ds' as a souvenier) we felt better giving them to someone than letting them go to waste (especially 4th of July week!).

YUP!!! We took pics of them all together and then off we went to use our fastpasses!! YIPPPPEEEEEE!! As the parks were packed....we were very glad we had them!!! Since we won them at the MK...we went on Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Cruise, Mickeys Phillharmagic and two others I can't remember!! But....very exciting none the less!! Thanks DISNEY!!

We won ours at Epcot in December, Christmas week no less, so we used our to ride a few things we wouldn't have otherwise waited in line for, Soarin, Fast Track, can't remember what else, but they were great to have, and we kept them as a souviner. We didn't use all of the tabs.

We won them in AK and used the tabs on the rides we wanted to go in. (I think we skipped Tough to be a Bug and Kali...seeems like there were 3 tabs left. Then I stuck it in my scrapbook when I got home so I would remember my dream forever.:cloud9:

I won a dream fastpass at both Epcot and MGM and I used it both times. I didn't use all the tabs, but even if I did, you'd still have the main card with the date on it and the park you won it at to save as a souvineer. It seems almost less magical to me not to use it at all, Disney magic is meant to be enjoyed, not horded away in some scrapbook.

Are there specific rules that state you HAVE to use the entire fastpass? I thought when you won something, it was yours to do what you wanted with it... :confused3 I didn't realize there were unofficial 'rules' to follow on how one should properly use their 'prize.'

My Dad and I choose not to use our Dream Fastpasses becase we thought they would look better like that, so I was wondering if others who won them did the same or decided to use them.

I beg to differ. Not having a Disney trip planned during Year of a Million Dreams let alone being lucky enough to be awarded any, I ended up BUYING some (via eBay) for my scrapbook. Expired ones with all the tabs still on them, of course.
Disney hints: http://members.aol.com/ajaynejr/disney.htm
Although old non-magnetic tickets purchased for a fraction of what today's admission cost are still valid, it is Disney's policy not to return the old ticket to you when you exchange it for one that fits in the turnstiles. So you have to choose whether to have the old ticket for your scrapbook or have admission to the park using it.

We would have, but we received them on our way out of MK for the last time, so we have them in tact at home. I wish they were good anytime, I would use them this Dec. But, I at least have a nice souvenir.

My mom and I won them in DCA on a Sunday. There was one for Disneyland (which we had done on Saturday) and one for DCA. We didn't use any of the tabs on either one because for one the lines weren't too bad and for two we wanted to keep them as a souviner.

I agree - I've won many over the year, either while alone or with a friend. Most of them were given away to strangers, so that they could enjoy them instead. Felt better to me than for me to go on an attraction I have been on many times - others are not so lucky to visit as often.

We all got them at MGM on a day with light attendance so that we never needed to use them. Of course it was a good thing as friend's DD9 popped all of her tabs off before anyone noticed! :rotfl2:
We would have gladly used them but the lines were almost non existant and by the time there were lines more than 10 minutes we had a pocket full of FP's for ToT and RnR.
Now, upon leaving, we did consider handing over the Dreamy Passes to someone else, but we all admit to wanting to keep them to ourselves as special souvenirs. Someone in our group mentioned something about "the Precious!", but it IS a great souvenir.

We received Fastpasses twice during our October 2006 trip...at MGM and Magic Kingdom and even though the parks were not busy, we used them because the kids felt cool using them. I did keep them after we used the tabs...they're hanging next to me in my office as I type, in my little WDW "shrine" that has the passes, a Disney Cruise Lines poster, and various other Disney momentos!

We got a set at MK. I was fully prepared to use mine and waddled right over to Space Mountain. The guy working the FP line was, like, "Duuuuuuude, don't do it! A complete one of those will fetch big bucks on ebay in 5 years." :lmao: He then let me go through the FP line without breaking off the tab.
I have no desire to sell on ebay but I realized that I'd prefer to keep as part of my collection. There were nearly no lines when we were there - it was rainy and the day after Halloween - so FPs were unnecessary anyway. If it had been summer, my answer would be very different.

We just returned on 8/23 and we got them in MK on our last day just as we were about to board Buzz! All of us did terrible on the ride because we were so excited that we got the dream fastpass. What a magical ending to a great trip.:wizard:
We did not use them. I wanted mine as a souvenier and we got it early in the morning when attendance was light so there was no need to use them. I did make sure we found a photographer and we had her take a picture of us holding them up which I have since placed in the Year of a Million Dreams photo frame which was being offered in the shop. I put our pic in one and my dream fastpass in another. It will always be a special memory:flower3:

We won them at AK the last week of June and we definately used them. We were able to each ride EE twice, Kali, Dinosaur, Safari and Primevil Whirl. We figured it saved us over five hours in lines. (It really didn't because we just wouldn't have ridden those rides.)

We got Epcot Dream fast passes. We gave away test track- DS6 did not want to do it again. Used Soarin, HISTA, Maelstrom(even though the standby line was short- I figured I got it- use it!) Did not use Mission Space or living with the land.
It was ABSOLUTELY great to have it with Soarin'.

My DD4 an I won them in Toontown while meeting the princesses in the am. We did use most of them and what we didn't I gave away. I did keep the lanyard and main portion. I was so happy. It saved a lot of me running around for FP. It was very crowded at MK that day.

DH had been working in San Diego for 4 months(we live in Tx). DD and I went to visit him. We surprised her with a trip to DL.
We were in DL Memorial Weekend. The Tuesday after was to be out last partial day-to buy gifts and ride just one or two rides because it was so crowded.
We got fast passes for Indiana Jones and went to BTRR there was the Dream Team giving out passes to DL and CA :cool1:
Needless to we stayed and closed both parks-rode all the rides and drove back to SanDiego having had a WONDERFUL time. We used everyone of them!!
It was wonderful to see DL, to be together after so many months:hug:
and it was a dream to fast pass all those lines on such a busy, busy day.
DD still talks about it. So do I, I guess:)

We won dream fastpasses in April during Easter :) It was the perfect day to win them, parks were busy, and my MIL & FIL came that one day to see DH & I, since they were vacationing in Indian Shores for the month. We on them at Epcot and used all of the FP tabs, except for Living the Land because we had already been on it (2 times for DH & I) ;) We used them because the park was packed that day!! Plus, MIL & FIL had not been to disney in years, 10 to be exact, and we wanted them to ride as much as possible! (Plus the wait time for most of the rides were at least 2hrs.....Soarin' was 2.5 hrs!!!)
I am glad we used them, and I still have the FP cards and they are in a scrapbook frame on my wall with pictures from that day :)

I pretty much knew that if I won, I would not use it because the prize to me is winning, not getting to go on the rides.
I won it at Epcot, and I had already gone on Soarin, Test Track, and Mission Space before I won. Honey I shrunk the Audience and Living with the Land didn't need fast passes, and I didn't think Malestrom was worth using only one tab, so I got a regular fast pass for that.
If I win another dream fast pass at Epcot, I will definitely use it or give it away. If I win dream fast passes at the other three parks, I will save them in original condition unless I win twice in a park.

However if I were to win another at MGM after the name changes, that might change my mind of using it since it would not say MGM on it.

That was so nice of you to share the magic with another family. I hope you at least kept one as a souvenier. I did and framed it along with a pic of us taken by a CM with all of us holding it. I put it in the frame that we purchased during the promotion in the stores. What a wonderful memory:wizard:

My family won Dream Fastpasses at Epcot on our first day to the parks (8/24). We hit Epcot early, sent DH and DS14 over to fastpass Test Track while me and my twin DS10 got on line for Soarin'. We turned a corner while on line and the Dream Team were handing out Fast Passes   What a great way to start a vacation.
We took a picture with the full Pass and then moved on to use them. We got on Mission: Space, they did not clip the tab but, when we hit Maelstrom later in the day, that CM did take the tab. We used a few others but, hey, that's what they are for. :woohoo:

You really do have to be in the right place at the right time. We got ours at around 10:00 just as we were entering where you go onto the car in Buzz Lightyear. The woman looked like she had about 30 or 40 of them in her hand. I would have felt terrible for the person who had just missed it and I was worried as we were approaching whether we would miss out but a woman had asked my DH how many were in our party so I guess they want to make sure the entire party gets it.
The lines were light so we didn't even use them so I have a nice souvenier.

I would have felt terrible for the person who had just missed itI think they give them out based on how many people are lined up for a certin attraction, so no one has to the one who just missed out on winning. For example when my Dad and I won them we got them just before going on the car for the Backlout Tour and before that we were all told to stop, then us along with everyone else got them. If you have ever seen the Backlout Tour 1st you see a demonstration of how water scenes are made and then all those people move onto the next phase. So it's not like a ride where the line keeps moving where someone will be un lucky and not win, because the person in front of them did.

It wasn't like that in Buzz but I know what you mean. The woman that handed our pass out was right where Buzz is in the turnstile which you know is right before the end before you go through to get to your car. The woman asking how many are in your party was in the turnstile right in front of her so if they were about to run out and that woman stopped the line then those people would see why. I'm sure it did happen because when we got ours she was right down to her last few.

Although I would rather take not winning a Dream Fastpass, then being the person in back of someone who won a bigger prize like the Castle stay, because then the questions of what if I only left before them and etc?

As you can see we did not get to use it because we walked on everything. It was great to keep it intact.
We won October 2006 in EPCOT. Cast Member Elton hinted at the location at the rope drop before the opening. We ran to Journey Into Imagination With Figment and the Dreamteam was waiting for us. Elton was such a great guy and a lot of fun. It was really neat to see him featured on a Walt Disney Worl Year of a Million Dreams commercial.
We are going again in October 2007 and can not wait to see if we can win again. I am hoping for the Night in Cinderella's Castle.

I never did see how she left because as she gave them to us we went through and right onto the car but maybe that is why the other woman was in the turnstile ahead of her taking the count. Nevertheless, people going through the turnstile could clearly see what was going on just due to the excitement alone when we all got them so they knew something was going on.

On October 5,07 my husband and I were walking on the trail in Asia at the
AK when a cast member stopped us to talk. She then said it was okay to go on and when we went around a bend in the trail there was the Dream Squad
and they asked us if we knew about the YOMD and then gave us Dream Fast Passes. This was around 10 AM. Now we had been at AK earlier in the week and we were only at this park to meet a friend who lived in Celebration. AK is the closet park to the Disney town so we really didn't need these passes. My husband took a picture of me with the pass and then we found a newly married couple and presented them with these passes. They were thrilled and I'll always remember how their faces lit up when I gave them these special passes. So in a way it still was magical !
This was the only time the whole week we were there that we saw any prizes being given out or even seeing any dream squad teams.

Got them at DLR one trip. . .good for both DL and DCA, my son and I used the fastpasses but really did not want to take the tabs off. So, we found a photopass photographer to take pics of them before we started using tabs. . .A great scrapbook memory. . .
If I got them at the "world", I would use them as well. One other thing, at DLR in California, the fastpasses are good at both parks and you automatically get free entry into the second park (if you don't have a hopper or annual pass - which we did).

We won the passes last December in MGM. We used everything except the Lights Motor Action Stunt Show which was closed for the day (big bummer...we really wanted to see it again) and the Voyage of Little Mermaid.
It's just DH and me and DH thought we would look silly on VOLM. I kind of wanted to go, but while waiting we saw a little girl with her parents who really looked like she wanted to go. Dad was looking at his watch like they might not have enough time to do it. So we gave our passes to them and mom and the little girl rode. Honestly, seeing that little girl get so excited about being able to ride was FAR more rewarding than if we had used the passes ourselves.:wizard:

We got 6 DreamFastPasses, one for each family member, at MK last May. We were given them while leaving Peter Pans Flight. We had already been in the park a few hours and our toddler was DONE. We let the older kids use a cople of the tabs...then let them save one unused pass each as a souvenir...then passed out 4 (2 unused, 2 partially used) on our way down Main St. It seems like the right thing to do, it made someone happy, and really, how many souvenirs do we need?

We were lucky enough to win them in the MK on 12/9. It was the first day of our trip and my daughters 18th birthday. I took a picture me with the Dream Fast Pass from Epcot. Most of the rides ended up being walk on so the only tabs we used is Test Track and Soarin'.

my family won one on our first ride of the morning on MGM on Dec 16th. We got the fastpasses for ToT, went to Starring Rolls for breakfast (my parents had arrived the day before so they overslept a bit so we skipped resort breakfast and went for a snack at the park instead)
Then we went to ToT (we got some of the first passes in the morning for it so it was still for 9:40) and when the preshow video finished, the YoaMD lady stopped us from moving to the "basement" and said that we all were at the right place and that it was the YoaMD. My first thought was that we would win the ears, which would be cool, but not as much as the Dream Fastpasses. But they gave all the DFP!!!
What was great was that at the table at Starring Rolls I mentioned to my parents that there were people distributing prizes because of the YoaMD and that I'd love to win some DFPs. Then just a few minutes later we got them! :cool1:
I kept wishing that again for the other days but we didn't win them again.
We wound up using just for ToT again and RnR. We were about to use for Little Mermaid, passed the Fastpass line showing the tabs, but then no one asked for them!
It was a pretty special thing to win even without using all of it! :wizard:

Here is my Dream FASTPASS story:
I had planned my WDW vacation from the 19th until a half day on Christmas. On our very first day, the Dream Team caught us at Turtle Talk w/ Crush at Epcot. They gave us each a pin set. I did not bump into them again until our last day which sadly was a half day:
I just wanted to go shopping for some souvenirs and check out our photos, since I knew the lines were going to be interminable. We quickly hit PotC and my son wanted to ride the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. I sighed... I just wanted to hit Stitch's Great Escape, because that was the only attraction that we had not done yet and I had a feeling the lines for that would grow quickly. However, I let them go on the ride, since the line there wasn't terribly long yet. Lo and behold, my wife says... The kids just got some FASTPASSes. I looked over and there were the Dream FASTPASSes around their necks. I sighed, because I knew that we couldn't use them at all on the busiest day of the year at the MK.
So, on our way over to Tomorrowland, I started scanning for a family of 3. I found a family and made their Christmas by passing along the Dream FASTPASSes. I think that it probably made their Christmas day. It kind of gave me a warm fuzzy when he shook my hand thanking me. Just a small gesture made their day :santa:

I won a dream fastpass on It's A Small World December 11. :yay:
I had already gone on Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and had a regular fast pass for Peter Pan's Flight. Big Thunder and Buzz Lightyear were walk ons and I had to go to Epcot for a tour. So I didn't use it. I went back to the Magic Kingdom right before MVMCP, but there were no real lines either.
So I have a complete Magic Kingdom fastpass to go with my complete EPCOT fastpass as souvenirs. If I win again next week, I will definitely use any fastpass I get. But after 7 trips to Disney Parks during YOMD, I only won two dream fastpasses, so I am not expecting anything.
