Celebrating Our First Anniversary Contemporary Style!

Hi everyone! :goodvibes

I am glad you are all joining me again for another Trip Report!

This time we are back at Walt Disney World! :wizard:

My DH & I recently celebrated the one-year wedding anniversary of our Disney Fairy Tale Wedding! :bride: :groom: I still can't believe we have been married for more than a year now! It seems like just yesterday, I was planning our Fairy Tale Wedding!

Of course, we had to celebrate the occasion back at Walt Disney World!

We decided we'd spend a Magical weekend at the Contemporary Resort! I was thrilled because I have always loved and wanted to stay at the Contemporary. My parents actually spent their first wedding anniversary at the Contemporary too! We actually had our Disneymoon at the Polynesian and so did my parents. Are you seeing the Disney tradition here!? ;)

I had made a lot of plans for us and decided to do as much as we could at the Contemporary, as well. That way we could really sit back, relax, and enjoy the resort. :beach:

Our Anniversary weekend turned out to be one of our most Magical vacations with many special surprises for us! pixiedust:

Here is a quick view of some of our Anniversary plans:

Friday::MickeyMo

- Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour
- Dinner at Chef Mickey's

Saturdayprincess:
- Anniversary Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table

Sunday:flower3:
- Breakfast at Concourse Steakhouse

On with the Trippie!!!

Opening of the Magic Kingdom

We decided the perfect place to start our Anniversary weekend would be at the Magic Kingdom, of course! ;) We had all of our luggage packed Thursday night and loaded it in our car, so we could get to the Magic Kingdom first thing on Friday morning.

We were going to begin our day with the Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour and then hopefully we could check-in to the Contemporary Resort early in the day. We arrived to the Magic Kingdom before the parked opened, which I was excited about because I haven't seen the opening of the park in years! I think I was 9, the last time I saw the park opening celebration. I choose to sleep-in a little later usually. ;) I thought it would be fantastic to see, especially with the Year of a Million Dreams celebration! :wizard:

Of course, it was hot, humid, and muggy, just like every day in Florida! DH was working-up quite a sweat just standing there. I had also ordered special matching Anniversary shirts for our Magical weekend too! :goodvibes You know how I love the matching outfits! :rotfl:

The train pulled-up to the station and the characters made their arrival at the Magic Kingdom!

I just love the opening of the park ceremony! I actually had watched it on You Tube before and I was brought to tears. I know, how sad! :rotfl: I just love it when the Mickey confetti goes flying over the crowd! You can't help, but get excited!

We entered with the crowd of people and made our way over to City Hall to check-in for our tour. We grabbed two free bottles of water and were given our special souvenir pins with our names on them for the tour.

Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour

The tour was, of course, all about Mickey! We actually all boarded the train with our tour guide and he handed us paper, so we could draw a picture of Mickey as we made our way over to Toon Town. We were shown how hard it was to actually draw on a moving train, much like it would have been for Walt back in the day when he was on the train and first came up with the idea of Mickey!

We were all handed stickers and then got off the train in Toon Town. Toon Town actually was not open yet to any other guests and just our tour group was going to be allowed in! :woohoo: Of course, other people on the train were giving us and our tour guide evil stares because they were not allowed in. It was so neat to see it empty and know we were the first to enter Mickey's house for the day! We were told a bunch of the little hidden secrets in Mickey's house and were able to do some good exploring, since it was just us inside.

Then, we were all talking in Mickey's garage and then Mickey snuck up on us! What a surprise!!! :yay: He was making a special appearance just for us and he escorted us back into his house.

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322410_1277.jpg

I couldn't believe we were getting our own personal meet and greet with Mickey in his living room! We were the first guests to meet Mickey at the Magic Kingdom for that day! I was thrilled! :goodvibes

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322411_1528.jpg

We said our good-byes to Mickey and thanked him for letting us visit his home. We began to make our exit out of Toon Town when the rest of the crowds were making their mad dash into Toon Town! :scared1: It was so funny to see all the people rushing in with the characters around them in the crowd. Everyone was too busy getting to their destination that I think they barely noticed! :rotfl: I think it's really neat that the characters actually escort you into Toon Town for the day when it opens.

We decided we'd all go visit Minnie's house too and we had fun playing around in there with the rest of the tour group.

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322415_2517.jpg

The Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour was a very cute tour and it wasn't too long, which I quite liked. We also were able to go to Main Street and watch a few short Mickey cartoons, as well. We all really enjoyed that because it was in the air conditioning. When we finished our tour, our tour guides surprised each of us with a pair of Mickey ears with our names on them and "MMM 2007!" I was so excited! Yes, it's the little things like this that really make me happy! :mickeyjum

We were pretty exhausted from the heat and walking around. It was close to lunchtime, so we decided we'd grab a quick bite to eat before we made our way over to the Contemporary to see if we could check-in. We chose to eat at the Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square. I am now obsessed with this place because they have the best vegetarian sandwich ever called the Lighthouse. It is so yummy! :)

We sat upstairs in the restaurant, where it is always nice and quiet and enjoyed a very nice lunch overlooking Liberty Square. It was very relaxing and we were able to cool down. It was a perfect way to start off the first day of our Anniversary weekend!

I really enjoyed it! It's a pretty fun tour and it's not too long either. If you love Mickey and learning all about him, then it's worth your time! :thumbsup2 Oh, and we got to go view Philarmagic and our tour guide pointed out all the very hard to see Hidden Mickeys in the show. That was pretty neat!

Welcome to Our Room!

We left the Magic Kingdom and drove over to the Contemporary Resort, hoping we'd be able to check-in a little early. Luckily, we got a parking spot right up front and we unloaded our luggage for the weekend.

When I booked our weekend trip, there were no rooms available at the Contemporary in the tower, just in the wing. I kept calling back and checking for availability, but nothing ever opened up. I really wanted to stay at the Contemporary, so we decided we’d just stay in the wing. It's also cheaper to stay in the wing, instead of staying in the tower.

We went to the front desk to check-in and it was actually the first time I had even been in this area of the resort. We were told our room was ready and that we had gotten a free upgrade to the tower! I couldn't believe it! I was so thrilled! We had gotten on the 7th floor overlooking Bay Lake. I was so excited! :yay: We were wished Happy Anniversary and we made our way over to the elevators to go check-out our new room. We got in the elevator and I was jumping up and down with excitement. :woohoo:

We found our room and our door was overlooking the monorail station below us. It was a perfect spot! We got in our room and we couldn't believe how amazing it looked! We just loved the room and I quickly ran over to check out our view!

The bathroom was just as cool and contemporary! The towel racks were really neat and we just loved the sinks. There was a separate room for the toilet with a sliding door and the shower & sinks were in a large area. The lighting was actually in the mirrors on the wall, which was such a neat touch!

Your room at the hotel looks amazing! Ive only stayed at the Value resorts but I hope someday to stay at a Moderate or Deluxe. They look beautiful. You seem to be a magnet for the Disney magic...between the upgrade and Johnny Depp at Disneyland!

Cute pictures with Mr Mouse too.
Keep the good stuff coming & thanks again for giving us such frequent Disney fixes while we wait for our own trips. You make me smile :teeth:.

Haha, that's right! Here we go again! :rotfl: I just love the Contemporary and the rooms are fantastic! Plus, the beds are amazing! So comfortable! DH didn't know if he's like the resort, but after he saw the rooms, it quickly became his favorite too! You're too sweet! :goodvibes I love keeping my fellow DIS'ers entertained! :cheer2:

Lindsey, I love the pics of the Contemporary! That's so my style of architecture...LOL The only time I stayed at the Contemporary was when I was in 2nd grade, so I don't really remember much about it, certainly not the decor!

I'm sure a lot has changed sine then! I know it went through an upgrade! :thumbsup2

yay another trip report!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok that room looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm jealous!! haha.

and happy anniversary!!! can't wait for more!

Awwww...thanks! :goodvibes More to come soon!

YAY for a new Trippie!!!  Looks like a great start and where did you get your shirts from? They are wicked cute and give me a great idea for my Disneymoon.

A little off topic but what kind of room did you have at the Polynesian? Did you stay GV or LV and what building? We just did the switch there for the Disneymoon...gotta love the Visa discount!!!

Can't wait to read all about the rest of your trip and your Anniversary!!! Although late...Happy Anniversary!!!

Hey there! I'm glad you liked our shirts! I actually ordered them from DisneyShopping.com just a couple months after we got married. :rotfl2: Just a little early planning, haha! They were on sale at the time, so I decided to go ahead and order them. :)

We actually had a Garden View at the Poly and just loved it! We were on the first floor, so it was neat to be able to just walk off our porch area. We had fun taking our own wedding pictures out there. We stayed in the Tokelau building.

Shuttle Launch

We then went exploring around the Contemporary grounds. We changed into some more comfortable clothes and made our way back downstairs. I've been through the resort and in the resort so many times, but had never seen the pools or the backside of the resort before! I really liked it a lot and I loved all the water activities being right outside our door. There was a bar and a little place to get snacks along the dock too!

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322435_7460.jpg

Here is a view looking up at the Contemporary where our room was located on the 7th floor. We just loved it!

http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322436_7736.jpg

I never saw the original pool, but I heard it was just an Olympic sized swimming pool. I really thought the pool area was great! I loved how the hot tub was actually in the middle of the pool and I loved the fountain areas. There was also a large slide and another hot tub in a private area. There were play areas by the pool for the kids too! It was great the way the beach was built right in with the pool area too, so you could be in the sand and right by the pool at the same time.

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322437_7993.jpg

One of the great pluses about the Contemporary is that there are two pools in close proximity to one another. The other pool is very unique and it is technically in Bay Lake on the dock area. How neat is that!? It actually gets deeper as you walk towards the middle of it.

It was pretty hot outside, but we decided to skip on the swimming for now because we had dinner reservations in a couple hours. We decided to just relax. We found two hammocks that were right on the beach!

We each caught a quick nap and then went back up to our room to cool off before our dinner at Chef Mickey's. We didn't have too far to go, so we had plenty of time to get ready!

We quickly remembered that the Shuttle Atlantis was going to be taking off in Cape Canaveral. This would actually be the first shuttle launch we could see, since we moved to Florida. I was really hoping we could see it! We turned on the TV to watch for the countdown, while we got ready.

There was already a nice size crowd gathering outside on the dock to watch the shuttle launch. I guess we were on the perfect side of the Contemporary for a great viewing spot! :thumbsup2

Lindsey, I used to have the same shuttle view that you had at the CR when I lived up off of Kirkman Road. My apartment faced the same way, and was right on the golfcourse, and I used to go out on our lanai to watch them, since there was an unubstructed view.

Cool that you got to see this one, this way......:wizard:

So I somehow missed the post about your room the first time around :confused3 I am not sure what happend but that is awesome about the upgrade!!!

I've never been to a WDW resort with an actual computer in the room, so I was surprised when I saw it! I know, you have to pay at the other resorts for access if you brought your own laptop that's why I was so amazed that we actually had free access to the Internet too. We enjoyed Tokelau and thought it was in a great location! It was actually one of the only areas left that had not been upgraded yet when we stayed there last year, but we were happy about that because I love the way the Poly use to be. I was glad I was able to enjoy it before they changed it. :)

I know! I was so surprised and so happy about the free upgrade! Things like that usually never happen for us and they never have before, so I was shocked! We had a lot more surprised like that too! It was much more special treatment than we got on our Disneymoon! :rotfl:

Dinner at Chef Mickey's

We changed back into our Fairy Tale Wedding matching t-shirts and made our way downstairs for our dinner at Chef Mickey's It was so great being able to leave our room and just take the elevator down to dinner. I just love Chef Mickey's! It is my favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World and I have been going there every since it was at the Disney Marketplace aka Downtown Disney now. I hadn't been in quite a few years though, so I was excited to be back!

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322555_113.jpg

We checked-in and we were right on time for our reservations. First, we went and had our Chef Mickey's photo taken that I knew we weren’t going to buy, but we decided to have it taken anyway. We ended up waiting quite a long time. That wasn't good because we were starving! We had been waiting for nearly 30 minutes and we finally went up to find out why we hadn't been seated yet. I guess it was a lot busier than they had expected or people weren't leaving their tables too quickly. Finally, our name was called and we were brought back to our table for two.

We were pretty close to the buffet, so that was good and we were each surprised with two special Chef Mickey's placemats that said, "It's my Special Day," with all the of the characters' autographs. I just love the special touches! :wizard:

Goofy quickly made his way over to our table before we were even able to get up and grab our dinner. Goofy was very sweet and actually put me and DH's hands together. Then, he covered his mouth doing his little chuckle. I guess he wanted our Anniversary to be special too! :goodvibes

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322558_903.jpg

My favorite part about Chef Mickey's is all the Mickey themed food items! Anything that is shaped like Mickey is good enough for me! :thumbsup2 They actually had Mickey ravioli! How cool is that!? I had never seen it before and I thought it was hilarious and very yummy!

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322559_1150.jpg

The Chef Mickey's music began to play! It's a cute song where everyone had to quickly twirl their napkins around over their heads. Then, I saw our waitress coming towards us with a Mickey cupcake with candles on it! She wished us a Happy Anniversary and then Minnie quickly came over to our table to do the same during her little dance routine.

Donald was the next to stop by our table and he had us quacking up! :rotfl: When he went over to DH for their picture, he actually covered up Mickey on his shirt! I was cracking up, but I don't think DH realized what was going on. Then, Donald had to put up his finger because, after all, Donald is #1! :rotfl2: It was just too funny and I love that photo!

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322565_2615.jpg

The Chef of the night, Mickey, snuck up on me right when I was in the middle of chewing. I was caught of guard and couldn't even talk because my mouth was so full! I tried to smile for a picture with my mouth full, but that didn't turn out too good! :rotfl2: I finally swallowed and we decided we needed a group shot with the main cheese!

Our meal was fantastic! I have never been disappointed with Chef Mickey's! I just love it! It was now time for dessert and Chef Mickey's has the best! Of course, that is all Mickey themed too!

I had some carrot cake, key lime pie, and a Mickey dome! My favorite!

Electrical Water Parade

We made our way back upstairs to our room and we were just in time to enjoy the Electrical Water Parade right from our balcony.

I couldn't wait because I remember watching this as a little girl with my Dad and I just loved it! I hadn't actually seen the show in such a long time, so DH & I went out on to our balcony and got ready for the show.

We watched them align the floats up for the parade and then the music began! I just love the music and I like how it still hasn't changed after all these years. :goodvibes

I did like how they updated it to go along with "The Little Mermaid" theme and used the music. I thought that was really great! My favorite part has to be when they play the music from "Pete's Dragon!" It just brings me back! :)

The patriotic finale was really neat and DH just loved that part! I didn't remember that part at all, so it was a nice surprise for me!

It's Our Anniversary!

It was the second day of our Anniversary Weekend and it was our actual 1-year Anniversary! We slept in as late as we could! It was so wonderful to be able to actually stay at a Disney Resort, relax, and actually sleep-in. That was a first for me and it was fantastic!

We woke up and enjoyed the beautiful sun streaming into our room and then there was a knock at the door. DH had a surprise sent up to our room. It was in a Disney bag and I opened it up to find a box from Arribas Brothers. I opened it up and it was a crystal Cinderella & Prince Charming. It was beautiful and he got it engraved with our names. It also said, “Our First Anniversary." I just loved the gift and I found out DH had gone through a lot of trouble to get it.

DH had so much trouble that he had actually begun a personal relationship with the manager and the manager actually told DH that we could come to Arribas Brothers at Downtown Disney for another item for free. That sounded good to me, so we got ready and made a trip to Downtown Disney.

We got to Arribas Brothers and they actually knew we would be coming and they let me pick out any $50 item I wanted for free. DH had a lot of trouble that I won't get into, but it was so neat for me to just go pick something out. I found a very neat crystal of Cinderella Castle and I got it! I just love it and I have quickly created a good-sized Arribas Brothers' collection.

We then took our time walking around Downtown Disney and we, of course, made a stop at Goofy's Candy Co. I had to get a Goofy Glacier and I actually completed my collection of the cups! I now have all five, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Stitch, and the Princess. I decided to try the pink lemonade.

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322581_6456.jpg

We were getting pretty hungry, so we chose to go to Rainforest Cafe for a quick lunch. We decided we'd sit at the bar because DH wanted to get a drink, plus, we love sitting on those crazy animal chairs. DH got some buffalo wings and I got a salad.

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322582_6714.jpg

We had a nice time at Downtown Disney, but we were hot and tired, so we headed back to the Contemporary to relax before our Anniversary dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. We drove back to the resort and then I went around and got some pictures of the view from our floor.

I walked back in our room and I saw the most amazing floral arrangement ever! It was just gorgeous! It was the most beautiful tropical arrangement with beautiful birds of paradise! It was in the Mickey vase that I love and had been wanting! I was so thrilled!

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32322590_8791.jpg

My DH had done such an amazing job and somehow had pulled all of this off without me finding out at work about the surprise. He did good! :goodvibes My flowers were also sprinkled with pixie dust and I had a single red rose in there for me too! I couldn't believe how heavy the arrangement was!

Of course, there was also a hidden Mickey crystal in my arrangement that is hidden in every floral design. I couldn't wait to find it in mine! :goodvibes

We sat back and relaxed at the Contemporary for the rest of the afternoon. I enjoyed our comfortable bed and we also took some time to soak up a little sun by the pool. I was having a wonderful anniversary and I couldn't wait to celebrate our First Anniversary dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table that evening. princess:

Our First Anniversary Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table
Part 1

I was so thrilled to be able to celebrate our 1st Anniversary at Cinderella's Royal Table! princess: I had booked the reservations right at the 180 mark!

DH & I dressed up nicely for our special dinner and then hopped on the monorail to be whisked over to the Magic Kingdom! It was so great being right next-door. You can't beat it! ;)

I loved walking down Main Street knowing our destination was Cinderella Castle and it was the first time I was ever somewhat dressed up at the MK. :goodvibes

We checked-in outside and we're given our special pass, so we could have our photo taken with Cinderella before our dinner. The CM also asked what Anniversary we were celebrating and all the CM's there at the desk wished us a Happy 1st Anniversary! :goodvibes

We walked into the castle and there is always something special about being in there, no matter, how many times you have been there! Then, I was taken back and thought of us having our wedding pictures in there a year ago. I couldn't believe it was a year ago!

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339146_9777.jpg

We got in line to be greeted by Cinderella before our dinner and she was so sweet! Cinderella even wished us a Happy Anniversary and told us to have a Magical evening in the castle! :wizard:

Soon after we met Cinderella, we made our way up the rounding stairs to the dining room. I just love the Cinderella stain glass window. I always have to stop and stare at it. It's just so beautiful!

The dining area is just beautiful to me! I just love the high ceiling and the sun streaming in through the gorgeous stain glass windows.

I have never been to Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner and I had no idea what to expect. I couldn't wait to see the show they do during dinner, as well. We got seated in a table in the middle of the dining room. I was actually in a booth and DH was in a chair, but we did have a perfect view of everything!

Our server was just wonderful and so sweet! I just loved her! She brought us pretzel bread to start off with before our meal. It was amazing! The butter was actually a mustard butter, which was something I had never tasted before. It was fantastic!

http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339152_5043.jpg

Our meal included a starter of our choice, so I chose the Vegetable Spring Roll and DH for the Castle Salad. The spring roll was amazing and the dipping sauce was so yummy! I was definitely enjoyed this menu much more than the lunch menu. ;)

I did take pictures of all of the food, but I can't seem to find them. I think I loaded them to the computer, but then forgot to upload them to the Internet. Now, they have been deleted. :headache: Sorry about that!

I had the Cheese Tortellini for my main course and DH had the Roast Lamb Chops. We both loved our meals. The garlic marinara sauce on my pasta was really good. We hadn't really enjoyed our meals the last time we were here and lunch, so we were both pleasantly surprised!

I decided I wanted some hot tea before we actually got our dessert and our server brought me the entire box of tea, so I could choose what I wanted. It was just wonderful and I am obsessed with Twining's Tea!

Then, Cinderella's mouse friends appeared and made their way through the dining room. They really didn't stop at tables for pictures because they are really there to put on the show, but Perla and Suzie both stopped at our table! It was so sweet!

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339155_5766.jpg

The show with the Fairy Godmother was very cute! She actually goes around all the tables as she sings and then we all joined in with "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!" The Fairy Godmother also announced to everyone that it was our 1st Anniversary and wished us a Happy Anniversary! :wizard: It was wonderful!

Our First Anniversary Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table
Part 2

It was time for dessert! The best part of every Disney meal! ;) DH got the Raspberry Sorbet and I chose the Poached Pear on Angel food cake topped with Mango Sorbet. They were both amazing! I even helped DH finish off his dessert. It was so good!

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339158_6478.jpg

Then, our server appeared singing Happy Anniversary to us and presented us with a small chocolate dome cake. It was covered in Mickey sprinkles and had two candles for us to blow out. It was so sweet and I was so surprised! Our server really made it such a special moment for us! :wizard:

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339161_7206.jpg

Our server also made sure we posed for a picture together! She was just great and now we had more dessert to enjoy! Yummy! :goodvibes

Then, our amazing server handed us a white box and said this was a gift from Cinderella for us. I opened the box and I couldn't believe it! We had been given two Cinderella's Royal Table champagne flutes! :yay: They were just beautiful! The stem of the glass is actually a twisted design and it was so neat. I was so amazed by all the Magic that had been created for us! It was all so much to taken in and we couldn't have been happier!

http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339164_7940.jpg

It was such a fantastic dinner and I couldn't have imagined a more Magical way to celebrate our 1st Anniversary! I don't think it could have gotten any better! Our experience at Cinderella's Royal Table was something I will never forget! Before we left, I made sure to walk around the dining room and get some very beautiful photos! :cloud9:

We thanked our server for making our first Anniversary so wonderful and we made our way out of the Castle. I was so overwhelmed with happiness and called my Mom immediately to tell her everything that had happened! :rotfl: I had to share my excitement and joy!

I really wanted to go on the Teacups! I know, what a great idea after a big dinner! :rotfl2: I hadn't been on them and quite awhile and had the urge to go! It would be a great way to end our evening in Fantasyland!

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339170_9452.jpg

We made our way back over to the Contemporary for our last night there. I really wanted to be able to enjoy our time at the resort. We got back and actually spent a lot of time playing in the new game room! It was a blast and they even had items you could get when you turned in tickets. DH had been spent sometime in there earlier in the morning when I was still sleeping, so we managed to get enough tickets to win a Mickey and a Minnie plush! DH actually surprised me with them and they were really cute! They are actually black & white and are the old-style Mickey & Minnie. I loved them!

It was getting close to the time for Wishes and we couldn't think of a better place, then to view the fireworks from the Contemporary. We went up to our floor and then went out where the stairs are, so we could view them from the balcony. It was neat because there were people on every floor out on the stairwell balconies to view the fireworks! We had the perfect view!

You had such a wonderful day! They really seemed to go out of their way to make your dinner special at CRT. That is what makes Disney so special. I love that they gave you those toasting flutes, a very nice surprise! I would love to eat in the castle but the menu just does not appeal to me.

It looks like you had a great view of Wishes, a wonderful end to a wonderful day!

Now how did I miss this?:confused3
First of all Happy Anniversary! What a wonderful & magical weekend you had. It had to be great fun all the way around. I do believe you are pixie dust magnet. :goodvibes I am gonna come and hang out with you!:goodvibes

I would absolutely love to stay at the CR. It would be my first pick if money were no object...one day:rolleyes1 . I would be so excited to stay at a monorail resort. I can only imagine how much easier the day to day park touring would be. My DH and I will be celebrating our 20th during our trip in Oct. let me just tell you...time flies. I can hardly believe it. Hey...Do you think they do free upgrade from ASMu to CR?:rotfl2: :rotfl2: A girl can dream can't she?;)

Your DH was super sweet and romantic with all of the thoughtfulness he put into making your day special and let's not forget the 17 hours or so that he spent with you waiting on Johnny. Now that is true love.

It was kinda funny to me as I began reading this and saw your pictures of the resort. I was struck at how the CR is a complete 180 from Hotel Hell:rotfl2: .

Once again...I am loving your trippie. :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work.

Enjoying your report, as I have all the ones before. Congratulations on your anniversary, and best wishes for a lifetime of wonderful years and anniversary celebrations ahead! We did Chef Mickey's for breakfast on July 27th, and the characters were great. They spent a lot of time at each table and were spaced out nicely so that no kids had to wait for very long until another one came along. We got the birthday cupcake for Brooklynn and the Happy Birthday, along with two others who were celebrating. My picture is not as clear, but I wanted to show your husband what a bad influence he is with his table manners. Who teaches these people to eat like this?!?!? This is my daughter, BrooklynnsMommy, and her equally good manners. Oh well, I guess in this case, they can throw the manners to the wind and enjoy!

Our Final Day
Concourse Steakhouse & the Sea Racer

We woke up around 9:30am on our last morning at the Contemporary. I sure was going to miss this place! We packed up our luggage and DH brought everything down to our car, while I finished getting ready. We had late breakfast reservations at the Concourse Steakhouse downstairs, so we made our final trip down the elevator and said good-bye to our lovely room.

http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339180_1858.jpg

I had never been to the Concourse Steakhouse, but I have always seen it, so I was eager to try it out for myself. I knew it would be a great way to start off our morning! We still have a lot of plans for the day!

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339177_1082.jpg

We got seated in the back of the restaurant in a quiet booth area, but we could still hear all the craziness going on next door at Chef Mickey's! :goodvibes

They had a great breakfast menu, but something definitely stood out! It was called the Sticky Mickey! We had to try it out! Our waitress said it was huge and fantastic! That was good enough for us, so we started our meal with the Sticky Mickey!

She brought it out and sat it in the middle of our table. I couldn't believe the size of it! It was like an amazing cinnamon roll! DH & I just ripped right into it! :rotfl:

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339178_1345.jpg

We had a wonderful and relaxing breakfast. I had the strawberry pancakes with a ton of whipped cream. Yummy! She even brought me extra on the side! :goodvibes

Our waitress was really nice and even got DH some coffee to-go and got me some hot tea. We went and sat down at the lobby to relax for a little, and decide what to do next! We also dropped my flowers off at the front desk, while we were gone. They made a great decorative piece!

DH really wanted to go out in one of the Sea Racers on Bay Lake. I had never done it before either, so thought we’d go try it out. It was a great idea before we realized it was 100 degrees outside! :rotfl2:

We rented the boat for 45 minutes, but we were already drenched in sweat as soon as we got in. We decided to share a boat, which just slowed us down because we didn't get much of a breeze that way. :rotfl:

Besides the awful heat, we had a lot of fun out there on the water. I am so glad that I finally did it because it is so need to drive right under the monorail and you get a great view of a lot of things you don't ever get to really see.

OH

MI

GOD.

The sticky mickeys are at the Conscourse!!!!!! I had those when I was 10 at a family trip to the CR. And I thought that they didn't have them anymore. I asked about them when we were at Chef Mickeys and the waiter looked at me in confusion..

They are my FAVOURITE. They remind me of everything about disney that I love.

I read through your entire TR so far and loved every minute. I have to say, that while I was horrified at first that I had missed your TR, it was nice to sit back and deliciously read the whole thing so far.

What a wonderful time. Your DH was so sweet to get the Cinderella keepsake, and it looks like you just had a magical time.

Can't wait to hear then end.

It'll be here before you know it. :goodvibes I've got to see a picture of your crystal Cinderella & Prince Charming anniversary present! How romantic! And the flowers!!! How did you not find out about that?!? They are gorgeous! Wow! What an amazing anniversary weekend. I think your DH is a keeper! :thumbsup2 (Then again, he's pretty lucky to have you, too! :) ) Thanks for another great TR!

Take care,
Michelle

Hi Michelle! :yay:
Oh, I can't wait to see you on the 5th! I bet you are super excited about your trip! Can you believe it's right around the corner!? I'm so glad you have enjoyed my Trippie! You just reminded me that I have to go take a picture of the Cinderella & Prince Charming DH got me. I'll go do that now! :) I'm not sure how great it will come out in a picture, but I will try. :goodvibes I just loved the Contemporary and I am so glad I was finally be able to stay there! I love it and I know I will be going back! :wizard:

Thanks so much! :) That's too sweet! I just love the picture! Great minds do think alike! :rotfl:

The Sticky Mickey lookes sooooo yummy!!!! The sea racers so get you some great views. I haven't done them since the late 80's/early 90's and they were a lot of fun. I am hoping to try them out in Oct. Can't wait to see more pictures from your adventure.

I know I always loved watching them, but I am so glad after 24 years, I finally got out there on the lake myself! :goodvibes I'm hoping we can go do them again, once the weather cools down a bit. ;)

I've been looking for new things to do while its just DH & I and I think the sea racers would be right up his alley! Can't wait to see your pics!

I know it was my DH's pick for the weekend, since he just loves the water! :)

Lindsey!

OH

MI

I'm so glad you now know where to go! It's time for you to make reservations at the Concourse for breakfast! I had no idea about them, but I sure do now! :rotfl:

I'm so glad you were able to join me on this Trippie too!

DW and I also shared a racer last year, I agree it slowed us down to much. You really need to do it solo to get some good speed and turns.

That sticky bun looked awesome, I want one right now. :thumbsup2

I finally got around to snapping a cpuple photos of the Cinderella & Prince Charming crystal DH got me from Aribbas Brothers. It's very hard to get a decent picture, but I did my bast! It's actually a complete 3-D image in the center of the crystal and "Happy Anniversay," our names, and Anniversary date were also engraved 3-D in the center. I have no idea how they do it! It's quite amazing to me! :wizard:

The Disney that was...
On Bay Lake

It was so neat to be able to go exploring around the lake and we got to get pretty close to Disney's Wedding Pavilion! I just love this view of it! It's so much more beautiful!

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339189_4310.jpg

Then, I remembered Disney's Discovery Island! I use to love it there and visited it when I was a child. I remember you could view it from the Contemporary, so I wanted to go find it and get as close to it as possible. I wanted to do some exploring and see what was left of it. They use to have all kinds of animals on the island like, eagles, alligators, flamingos, tortoises, monkeys, and pelicans. There were also many different tropical plants on the island. It closed a while ago and I know they brought some of the animals to Animal Kingdom. That is why there is also a Discovery Island at Animal Kingdom. ;) Anyway, we found it!

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339191_4804.jpg

It was so odd to see it just deserted and abandoned. It was like "The Lost World" and it was just there. Nothing had even been cleaned up or moved. The boat was still there from when the island had a "Treasure Island" theme.

http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339192_5053.jpg

Here is an original photo of the shipwreck. The Disney that was...
http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/50b71f20.jpg

I was amazed that they would just leave everything there, instead of clearing it out and cleaning it up. It was totally over populated with birds. It was kind of eerie as we slowly pulled around the island.

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339193_5315.jpg

Then, I said, I wonder if we can find River Country! It was Disney's original water park over near Fort Wilderness. After Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, it just didn't have a chance.

The Disney that was...
http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/44e4a790.jpg

We made our way over to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness area, hoping to be able to catch a glimpse of River Country. We spotted it!

http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339194_5582.jpg

It was totally run down and it was all just left there! I know I had heard rumors that they may bring it back for Fort Wilderness' guests, but after seeing it, I don't think so. It was so sad to see it because it brought back so many memories and it was just nothing now.

I love your "The Disney that was". My first visit to Disney World was when I was 5 in 1992 and I don't remember Disney's Discovery Island :sad1:. It's sad to see how they just let the island go though and didn't even clear it. I hope that they don't do that to any of the things I love now. But Disney is ever changing isnt it, Thats the way Walt wanted it..so I guess its bound to happen :sad2:.

Anyway I can't wait to hear about the rest of your day

Those pictures make me sad too. We have old home movies from our first family trip to Disney, and we went to both Discovery Island and River Country. When we went to Disney in May we stayed at Ft. Wilderness and everytime we passed those places on the boat, my parents would talk about how pitiful they look. Glad someone else remembers going there! Sad pictures though.

Another fantastic post as usual...but oh so sad.:sad2:

I had so much fun at both Discovery Island and River country. I can almost feel how cold the water was.

Now, it's time to say good-bye...
Animal Kingdom

It was time to bring out Sea Racer back to the dock and it was time for us to leave the Contemporary after our wonderful weekend. We were just having too much Disney fun and we were not ready to go back home, so we were going to make a trip over to Animal Kingdom! We decided we'd leave our car at the Contemporary and my flowers at the front desk, and take the bus over to AK.

It was a blast and a perfect way to end our Anniversary Weekend!

http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339199_6866.jpg

We had to make a stop at Primeval Whirl! We just love that ride and we got hooked on it during our Disneymoon! :goodvibes

http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v77/12/63/25002324/n25002324_32339200_7130.jpg

We spent the rest of the day at AK and were actually rained out! :scared1: We were in line for the Kilimanjaro Safari and they actually shut the ride down because the lightning was so bad. We should have been next on the ride, but we were trapped and stuck there waiting in the steamy heat for 30 minutes. Finally, we all had to be exited for the ride. I had never seen such a downpour! We were soaked from head to toe and had to walk through the storm to get to our bus. What a way to end the weekend!

We finally got on the bus and we were freezing cold! That's rare to say during the summer in Florida! We got back to the Contemporary to pick up my floral arrangment and the Cast Members were joking that they were wondering if we were coming back because they were deciding who should take it home to their wife. :rotfl: It was quite a challenge getting the arrangement in the car and then holding onto it during our drive home. Luckily, we mostly got it back in one piece! :goodvibes

I hope you all enjoyed my Trippie and I am so glad you stopped by to join us during our Magical weekend! :wizard:
