I don't know why i get like this, but every time I get ready to go to disney i get brainfreeze and can't get anything done!:confused3 I feel like i have so much to do...ok I have all my disney paperwork ready to go in my lovely folder, ADRs, travel docs etc., thats the easy bit, its all the other stuff, like washing, ironing, cleaning my house, getting school supplies, making sure all the bill are paid, in my case hiding everything personal from my ex-H before he stays with the kids here for the week, just getting everything in order! i haven't even got the case down yet and decided what i am taking, AAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Do any of you have a one week plan to get ready? or do some of you run around like headless chickens just like me? The more I think about it the more tired i get, and I think i zone out from getting it done.
Someone tell me i am not crazy:rotfl: even better if you can give me advice or a plan, Anthea Turner styleee:lmao:

I want to be running around getting everything done, but after a whole day at work, I just feel like collapsing in my chair and not moving another step until I have to go to bed. It's very counter-productive, especially as I still have a million and one things to do. The only plus side is I've already made a start on the washing. You can't get across the landing for the many, many different piles, but it's slowly disappearing into the washing machine/tumble dryer!

But just wait till Sunday when I have 48 hours to go, and then I will most DEFINITELY be running around like a headless chicken!

Sorry Claire I don't have any top tips - I am just glad I am not the only one that gets stressed

I always just try and calm myself down - sometimes a couple of glasses of wine and a good nights sleep will do the world of good :) Lists are a good idea so you have something to focus on.

Sending you a  and some:wizard: :wizard:

Just think you will soon be in WDW :woohoo: :woohoo:

I have to say I am totally the same. I have problems getting things done. My list gets bigger and never smaller. We have not packed, washed, ironed or anything yet. :scared1:

I am trying to get myself in order tomorrow and start the washing etc.

Good luck with the next 6 days. Its going to be mad for us. We will certainly deserve our cocktails when we arrive. ;)

No advice here - I just panic and stress and panic more! We need a holiday after I'm done. I'm the same when we go away for a long weekend - I try to tell myself that apart from a few obvious things like medicines (and Tickets/passports if needed) we'll be able to buy any stuff if it's forgotten!

Just focus on that relaxing first drink :)

try and be calm Claire, easier said than done I know, I am exactly like you running around panic to the last, I get so excited but when the time comes to get organised I put everything off until tomorrow, so I am like a headless chicken the day before we go.

Sorry don't have any tips but I know what you mean about stress before the holiday. I am not calm until I am on my way to the airport! Just think this time next week you won't be worried!:)

This time next week Claire we will be there :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Hope today is calmer for you. Why is it when your waiting for your washing machine to finish it always takes longer when you dred putting washing out on the line on a good day LOL :rotfl: I am waiting around for my next of many loads of washing to do.

Have a good day. XX

No need to panic/stress.... remember what a shopping mecca Orlando is?

Well providing you and yours get to the airport on time with your passport, tickets and medication... then what does the rest matter? :cool1:

If you forget anything, just an excuse to go out and buy a new one ;)

Anticipation is half (ok maybe not that much, but a good proportion) of the joy of a holiday - so try to enjoy it :goodvibes

That's my approach! :thumbsup2 I just can't get myself worked up about packing/preparation until a couple of days before. I make a few lists and hope for the best... ;)

Indeed, providing you (and the rest of your party! :rotfl: ) get on that plane and get to Orlando, then everything else is details. :goodvibes

If you get panicked/stressed, then think about this... If someone came up to you and your family in the street and handed you your passports/medication and some tickets to Orlando (so just plane/accomodation/car booked - nothing else) and said "if you get into this taxi here and go straight to the airport right now, you can have a free two week holiday to Orlando", would you do it? Forget about work and everything (that is all sorted out for you), but you have to go "as you are" and with no luggage. Would you go?

Ok my stress levels are going up even more, we are doing connecting flights via Washington, and the last 2 days the flight from heathrow has been about 80 minutes delayed meaning we definately wouldn't make our connection:scared1: I know united keep promising we will get on the next flight but it doesn't help my stress levels:confused3

I bet its stressful, but they will get you on that flight if not the flight after which lands around 16:00. You never know we both might be delayed and arriving at the same time. Fingers crossed it doesnt happen though x It would of been so much easier waiting out and booking your flight, but they never had your connection flight available.

Were the flights delayed 80 minutes taking off or landing? Often a flight flying West can EASILY make up an hour of delay by going faster (and making use of the favourable jetstreams). So 80 minutes delay in take-off could result in the flight landing virtually ont-ime at Washington...

Try not to stress - there is really little point about stressing what you have no control over.

The only thing you can do is stay calm and trust that you will get there in the end. In general these situations (delays and/or missed connections) are what we make of them: if we try and go with the flow then we will probably just arrive a little later and a bit more tired, if we get stressed/mad/angry/upset then we will get there a little later a bit more tired and a lot more stressed/mad/angry/upset (and that may put a damper on to the start of the holiday).

Remember that stress is contagious (that probably goes for on forums too...). If you are travelling with other people (especially kids) and you are stressed/upset/mad, then they will pick up on it and feel the same (and if the kids get stressed, then that probably stresses you out more). If you are calm and "go with the flow", that will help them a lot too :thumbsup2

If the case of a delay or missed connection, then stay calm and practical - make sure that you and your party are comfortable and well-fed and watered (i.e. maybe find a nice retaurant/cafe to wait out the delay in comfort).

Of course, none of this might happen - your Heathrow flight might be on time and you wont miss your connection: so what is the point of stressing youself now about something that may never happen? :goodvibes .

1 week today for us and we have not done a thing yet (other than our itinerary).

We always wait until the weekend before we go to pack etc that way the stress levels are kept to a minimum.

We have a system. DH sorts his clothes out and handles all electrical items, I have to sort out DD. I then pack. I could not leave it to him as he would probably forget to pack something important.

Just relax and chill. Packing should not be stressful and besides if you do forget anything you can always pick it up when you get there. Any excuse for shopping!!!!

Thanks for your messages everyone. I have spoken with Airline network who say that they have abided by United's regulations of 1 hour minimum connecting time, so they wash their hands of it. i then phoned United and the very calm lady:goodvibes assured me that there is still availability on the later connecting flight so we absolutely would get on that one, which would get us to orlando at 4:45pm, if we don't make that first one. She said that we would definately have time at washington to connect if the flight is on time.
Anyway.....now i have done everything in my power to check the situation, and will sit back and wait:hourglass
I still haven't made much progress with anything else, but at least I have dealt with this:goodvibes

Typical of Airline Network not to get involved. I am sure everything will be fine. If your flight is delayed back in the UK can United put you on the next flight from the UK? Save you worrying when you arrive at Washington?

You may well be correct regarding the jetstreams... although they definitely have the possibility of "making up time" flying West (i.e. going faster etc). A delayed take-off time often doesn't mean a particularly delayed landing time :)
