Leaving for the fort next Monday:cool1:

We plan to stop off at Wal Marts at night because it is so convenient, quick, and FREE! We did this in January and found a very nice one in VA (Fredericksburg I believe) that was open 24 hours, has a McDs and is surrounded by nice stores and restaurants.

I was thinking of sparing myself an afternoon with 3 boys at the grocery store by doing some of my shopping at the WalMart the first night. We usually have to stop in for a forgotten item or two anyway so I figured I might just get my milk, charcoal, yogurt, etc there.

My question is - is there usually a good selection of grooceries at these super Wal Marts? Do they have produce? I need quart size milk to fit in my RV fridge - any clue if they offer these? I shop at Target at home so I am not familiar with the selection at Wal Mart.

Thanks!!

The grocery store section of Wal-Mart Supercenters is like all other grocery stores. They'll have pretty much everything in all sizes a typical grocery store has.

Be aware that not all Wal-Marts allow over-night camping in their parking lots. There is a book available that lists all the Wal-Mart's across the US that allow & encourage over-night campers. I'm sorry that I don't know the name of the book, but I suspect if you google Camping at Wal-Mart, you'll find it.

As far as grocery shopping goes, here in Fla we have both Super Target's and Super Wal-Mart's. I prefer Super Wal-Mart, as they have more selection of national brands and better produce and YES - milk in 1 qt bottles (not cartons). There are now 3 Super Wal-Mart's within easy an easy drive of FW. 1 on US192, 1 on SR535 (Closest) & 1 on Turkey Creek Rd.

FYI - - The Wal-Mart on US192 does NOT allow over-night camping! There are signs all over the parking lot.

Have a great time!

Debbie :)

Once you get into Georgia you will be hard pressed to find a Walmart on 95 that allows overnight parking. There is a Flying J in Brunswick that is a good place to stop - also one in St. Augustine. Happy travels!

It's a 16-18 hr trip from here in Delaware. Leaving after work I drive untill midnight. We usually stop at the Wal-mart just south of the VA/NC line. It's right at the end of the off ramp. Ronanoak rapids I think was the exit. Allways a large number of campers in the lot also stocking up on supplies. from here it is only 10-12 hrs to FW

I get some sleep while my wife shops for grocerys and supplies.

Stop by any Wal-mart and pick up the Atlas with all the Wal-marts listed in the back. Also get the "next exit guide"
