Clean/Closest hotel to Universal Orlando for less than $80 a night?

We're thinking of doing a non-disney Orlando trip for a change and try to save some money for a nice trip next year. What's a modest price hotel near Universal, preferably within walking distance from Universal (for those late night CityWalk excursions! :thumbsup2 ). Thanks! Something no more than $80 would be great.

Its more than I was originally wanting to spend, but has anyone here stayed at the Hilton Homewood Suite near Universal? It looks nice and big from the pictures ive seen. Is it within walking distance to Universal?

we stayed one night at the Rodeway on International Dr and it wasn t anything that special but it was clean and cheap.When the daughters high scholl band plays at Disney they always stay there.

Homewood Suites is a LOT more than a 10 minute walk. I'd say 30 minutes.

The closest hotels are along Major Blvd, a short street that leads right into Universal property. You'll find a complete list of them here:

Try Doubletree on Major blvd it is about 10 min or less walk and we basically walked from there every day when we stayed there.
Its not fancy and if ya try some of travel sights you might be able to get a room for way under 80 a night cause we did.
