I dont know if anybody has posted this... but I am still on the phone and wanted to post in case others are holding.
I was just told by the cast member helping me with the AP discount, that there is an unpublished "special" for AP members staying certain days in OCT, NOV, and DEC.
The December dates are the 9-15 ONLY. (I dont know the other dates, and she wouldn't tell me saying "I can only tell you if its available for the dates you book" as its a "special promotion".)
The "promotion" is for a Disney Dining Card, for the days listed. Also to note, we are coming in on the 3rd, and not leaving till the 17th, but I still qualified without having to "checkout, and check back in." I dont have anymore info then that at the moment...
I'm so excited:banana: FINALLY after not EVER getting a pin, or 40% code, or my days for package deals... to get a deal!
Go Go Go! :lmao:

$20 card for values
$50 for moderates

Do you have to stay the 2 nights within the time period of the offer, or just 2 nights with at least one night falling within the window.
For example: We plan on checking in 11/17--the last day of the offer, but we are staying until the next week. Would we still qualify, or would we have to check in by the 16th?

Right - the dining card is if you are paying an AP rate at a DVC resort.

I just called dvc re: my cash dvc day I reserved with my DVC discount and I was told that I was not able to get the Dining Card because their cash reservations are separate from the "main" non-dvc reservations. I have not yet called to see if it would be worth calling and "upcharging" my rate to a lesser discount (chase or AAA) and getting the dining card with it. It all might be moot in my case b/c it is just one cash night... but having a little "no guilt" snacking on otherwise forbidden dining plan items would be nice.

Keep your cash discount. In order to get the dining card it has to be a minimum 2 night stay.

How exactly does this card work? If it is for $100 do you get that much free food? Sorry I am so confused, I have never done this.

This is the first time they have done this so we are all new :)
I would assume it's like a gift card and heard it will be attached to your room key and you just swipe it at any restaurant or food court.

I have a silly question. Is it suppose to say anything about the dining card on the written reservations? I just pulled ours up at the WDW website and the rate is there but nothing about dining.
One more thing, (sorry) Has anyone inquired about any info on this card? I forgot to. (got so excited LoL) We are switching resorts after two nights. Will this card be void after we check out of the moderate? Just wondering.

I'd call and ask a CM. This is all new to everyone as they have never offered this with AP bookings before. I hear it is attached to your room key (from another poster) so I don't know.

About the card, its a different amount depending on where you stay.
value, mod, or delux.
Were staying ALK and we get a $75 per room.
I asked about the details of where we could use the dining card.
She said the card had to used within 15 days of first check-in, so if your resort hopping you should still be able to use it, on into your stay w/in the 15 days.
She said anywhere they accept charge cards, they would accept the card.
I had asked if both sit down and counter service would accept the card, and thats when I got the speil about charge cards.
I'm guessin the snack carts that take cash wouldn't take it.
She also said it could be used for alcohol beverage!!

The CM told me it would be waiting for me at check-in. I asked "Is it a gift card?" and he said yes. Now if it is attached to the room key or a another card, I'm not sure. I didn't ask about all the specifics of where it can be used. We have so many ADRs at sit-downs that I know we will use it in one shot.

The info is right on the AP site. After you sign in - click on Special Offers - then it is entitled "Tasty Deal - Resort Discounts". I found the info this am, since I thought it might be faster to book on the website instead of being on hold for 40 minutes to talk to a CM. :)
I actually ended up just calling in case I had to play around with my dates - only on hold for about 10 min at around 8:15 am!!!

I would have held out longer but I had 3 CM's tell me today that they did not think that an AP or FL rate would ever apply to my dates. The last CM tried AP and FL rates and there was nothing for WL plus they are using the new pricing policy and some of our dates were in the dreaded Holiday rate :scared1:. No problem, we love the FQ and we can think of all sorts of ways to spend that extra $$$. GOOD LUCK to everyone still trying to get just the right ressie and rates!!!:)

wdwcoltsfan! I have the same question. I have a room booked with the 40% discount (still cheaper than the AP rate), but will have an AP. I guess I will call in the morning and inquire. I would have two nights at the holiday rate, so any "savings" with the $50 card would be eaten up by the holiday pricing.
But it would be lovely if we could just note that we are AP holders and get the card. Unlikely, but lovely.

We actually fall within the dates for a Dec. stay at WL, too. I tried to get an AP rate for it this morning, but was unable. I'll keep checking to see what opens up. I can't tell if the dining card is linked to an AP discounted room or if it's a promotion on it's own.:confused3
Rachel:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:
I have to tell everyone that this round of AP discounts has really confused the heck out of me. It has also seemed to confuse some of the CMs at CRO as well.
I found out that there are other codes involved other than the published FEX and FDV codes. The CM I just spoke with gave me FFB and FFC. She said FFB is an AP code for value resorts for the free dining card and FFB was for moderate and deluxe AP codes with the dining card. These codes were totally new to me. What was even more strange was that these codes opened up different AP discounts at other resorts.
For example FEX had only Beach Club available, but when she plugged in FFC Coronado Springs became available with the dining card. I couldn't believe it because I didn't see any trace of the codes published on the DIS. Maybe I missed it though.
I would also add that I'm completely disappointed with the available AP rates. Resorts are very limited in what they are making available to AP holders. I hope this is a one time instance and doesn't become a trend for future AP rates.

The AP Dining card has been described as elligible by checking in between certain dates, but I was told this afternoon by CM that the 2 minimum days must be between those dates. For example, a check-in on Nov 17th (end of a period) does not qualify but Nov 16th would. Oh well.

True, I called two days ago and switched my room only rate to the Disney Visa rate. I called back yesterday to get a quote for the AP code. The Disney Visa code was cheaper (even having to buy a one day MYW ticket), so I kept my Disney Visa code. I then asked her if since I had an AP if I could get the free dining card. She said she didn't think so, but let her check. She put me on hold for a long time, but finally came back and said no that the free dining card was only for those who booked a room using the AP code. She said they were codes within the AP code, if that makes sense.

Thanks you two for the answers. Saves me time, and a call to Disney! Too bad. But I'm keeping my 40% rate. I got POFQ at $97.88/night including tax. If I switched to the AP rate, I'd be looking at $111.38/night for five nights and HOLIDAY pricing for the last two. NO THANK YOU. Now if I could add a couple nights at the beginning, drop a couple nights at the end, and get WL it might be different. But I don't see that happening!

Boy, what a long day yesterday was. First I called with the first code hoping to get a discount for my stay December 9th through the 15, and I was only offered the Pop Century, Port Orleans, and Animal Kingdom. Now mine you all great hotels and have stayed in all of them. I had reservations for the Woods View at WL and though the savings would have been a great plus at the Animal Kingdom...the construction really was a turn off, especially at Christmas.
So, I said no thankyou... nothing like Christmas at the WL. I called later in the day hoping for some Disney Magic to be sprinkled on me, still no luck.
Well they say third times the charm and I called and talked to a wonderful castmember by the name of BobbyJoe, she took my information and than said well the computer only shows a discount for the Wilderness Lodge for the Court Yard View...it felt like getting the Golden Key...I took it and ended up saving nearly 800 dollars...then she tells me that because I was staying from the 9th to the 15 I was also getting a 75 dollar dining card. WOW :cool1:
I was so glad to call back the third time. Especially since this will be my our honeymoon and my wife's first time staying in the Park at Christmas time with all the decorations.
Boy, I just cannot wait until December 9th.

I just tacked on two extra days with the AP/free $100 dining card at SSR for 12/13-12/16. It's a studio room for total $370 (two nights) so I figure I'll count the $100 dining card to make the "real" room rate $270 for two nights. We've never tried SSR and I thought it sounded like a great deal!---Kathy

Thanks,
We were told one dining card per AP booking. We got an AP rate for two of our three rooms (2 AP's) and the CM said we'd have two cards waiting for us at check-in.
Does anyone know if it's suppose to say anything about the dining card on the confirmation? Our email confirmation did not have any mention of it so my DH called back. Our Dining card offer wasn't put on our ressies at all so the CM added it. (I hope anyway) It still doesn't show on our confirmations though.

Does anyone know where you can use the free Dining Card? I just received a Passholder e-mail from Disney with the following small-print paragraph:
Use of the Disney Dining Card (the "Card") is acceptance of its terms and conditions. The Card may only be used towards the purchase of food and beverage items at select participating Food and Beverage locations within Walt Disney World® Resort and will expire 15 days after check in. The Card cannot be used towards the purchase of any merchandise, Disney Gift Cards or Disney Dollars. Except and only to the extent required by law, the Card will not be replaced if lost or stolen and no portion of the card balances are redeemable for cash. The issuer of the Card, Disney Gift Card Services, Inc. is not responsible for any unauthorized use of the Card.
What are "select participating Food and Beverage locations"?

A cm just told me the dining card is only for certain room types at certain resorts. I ended up upgrading from stardard to king since I wanted a king bed anyway and it got me the $50 dining card. So I'm really only paying around $18 total for the room upgrade. Has anyone else heard that it's only for certain room types? The cm gave me a pretty hard time about asking for the dining card so just wondering if what she said is true....

Hmmm no, hadn't heard that...we have a double room. I do know it is for certain time frames but not heard it was only for certain room types. I called and asked for the AP rate the other day. They gave it to me (but we had to switch from POFQ to POR to get it). Then I remembered the dining card and called back, and the CM said it had already been added to my reservation and would be added to the room key when we check in. So I think if you didn't get it applied you should call back and talk to another CM! You may have gotten one that didn't understand the promotion.

I don't think so. Our reservation lists the days as all the same price. It's my understanding as well that this pricing change is for reservations after 2008 starts (no matter when the reservation was made) and reservations that are for Dec 2007 and before will be priced at the old scale and method.

The daily pricing has begun. I was looking via the AP link online at dates in Oct. and for the first night ( looking at Pop) it was listed as $59 and for the last two nights I wanted it was listed as $79. My ressie for Dec. was the same for both nights so I'm assuming for those dates I didn't overlap value/regular season like the Oct. dates did. I tell you one thing, Disney has us sharpening our math skills doing all the comparing of each discount, code, and availability, lol. ---Kathy

My take on the type of room pricing depends on when the res was made. Keep in mind that Disney's fiscal year starts October 1. (Learned that years ago from the DS sales. They use to have GREAT sales at the end of their 4th quarter in September to boost their yearly sales. ;) )
So new the resort pricing probably depends on when the res was booked. And if it was booked mid year and was a 1st quarter room/package res.

just one other question on the dining card - does anyone know if you can get it staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins? A lot of people said that the CM are sometimes not sure about the card, and when I called, they asked for a code, and I told them that it's supposed to be w/the AP, and then they said that it's not available for Fort Wilderness. We're going w/in the right days - but they said that the resort was wrong. Also they said that I needed a code - does anyone have one for this.
thanks in advance

Congrats to those getting the Dining Card! It's nice to see that Disney is taking care of their AP holders! Now don't for get to keep an eye on the discounts that some restaurants offer AP holders. Most seem to be M-F for lunch but check out the passholder site or your passholder booklet and use your dining card at those places to get a little extra value!

I was booked in Dec. with a AAA rate because there were no rooms with an AP rate. A very nice CM tried and tried to find something for me at Pop with no luck. Today I found that if I add one night I can get the AP rate, and thus the Dining card. I called CRO to book it, they said it wasn't available. Um, is is online! So she told me to book it online.:headache:
I booked online, called back to cancel the original and modify the new one to take of the extra night we don't need. Nope. They won't remove the extra night AND the dining card isn't on the ressie. :headache: The Passholder site says "call OR click Book Now" for the dining card and AP room rate! So after nearly 40 minutes ont he phone she SAID she got it fixed. But I still have an extra night that needs to be modified off sometime in the near future.
I will keep calling until I get a CM who can take off that 5th night. The dining card promo requires TWO nights, so going from 5 nts. to 4 should NOT mess up the dining card or the room price. We can't go for 5 nights, and our airfare is already booked.

Just a ? you may or may not be able to answer. I'm too lazy to go through the entire thread. I recently booked a Poly resv through the website with the AP discount. My reservation is going to need to be cut short by a few nights. Am I reading your post to say that they won't cut nights out of your original reservation? Forgive me if I'm not understanding, but now I'm nervous. I haven't called disney yet to change the check-out date because I can't decide on how long to stay.
Thanks,

We booked our 2 night stay with the AP discount code that included the free dining card. Our stays are friday and saturday nights. I just read on the Passholders website that the free dining card is for stays sunday through thursday only. Has anyone else been told this? The CM I booked with said nothing about it and told me we had the free dining card. Any thoughts on this? :confused3

We are booked for just a Friday and Saturday night and were told we received the free dining card. My email confirmation didn't reflect it, but when I called back, another CM confirmed I do have it. So, I better!

I read that too.
I booked a stay online (12/14-17, Fri, Sat and Sun) at the AP rate and it shows a free dining card on the ressie. I also amended a ressie to an AP rate for 10/25 - 29 (Thurs - Mon), it doesn't show a free dining card on the update, and I didn't think to ask when talking with the CM. Guess I need to check on that.
This stuff gives me a headache. :confused3 :lmao:

Our confirmation didn't have anything about the free dining either so my DH called to check and they said it was on there. Now I'm not so sure after reading the passholders site. You would think the CM's at CRO would at least inform guests about these things when they book or check what days the dates fall on. Has anyone staying just friday and saturday nights had it written right on your confirmation? It's starting to worry me that ours didn't.

We have 2 nights at Pop Century 12/13 to 12/15, and 3 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge, 12/15 to 12/18. We have the AP rate and get $25 with the value reservation and $75 with the deluxe reservation. It is not noted on our printed reservation.

I believe it is $75 at a deluxe resort. And from what I understand it is one dining card per AP booking. We booked two moderate rooms at the AP rate and the CM told us we have two $50 cards added to our reservation.

I booked an AP rate from 12/17-12/19 should I have got a dinning card??
I had thought of booking this and was crunching the numbers online. Seems you have to check in on the particular day it says and only CERTAIN resorts qualify for this feature. For example, if I checked in at A/S Sports on Dec. 9 for 2 days it's on my ressie, but if I book Pop on Dec. 9 for 2 days it is NOT on my ressie. If I check into the FQ it is not on my ressie, but if I change to check in to POR it is. HOWEVER, if I change my ressie and try to arrive on Dec. 8 to Sports (the one that did offer it) I lost the dining card, because it only works if I checked in on Dec. 9, however I could add another additional night at the end and still get it if I keep my check in on Dec. 9.
The website DOES say only certain resorts have this extra perk and you have to make sure you book a resort that has it available. I see alot of folks on this thread think they might have it, but I don't think so. You need to check to see that you are checking in on the particular day it's offered as the website says you HAVE to be flexible with you dates in order to get this perk. Not sure if many of you have checked the AP website, but you can crunch you numbers there to see if it's available at certain resorts. Once you get the resort you want, you need to select this offer, then the next page will list what the offer is and either says the dining card is added or it will just say AP room discount offer only. This offer is completely different than the regular AP discount offer that is out. Good luck.

All the confusion about this was giving me a headache so I called to double check and explained that our stay is NOT during sunday - thursday. The CM I talked to checked our reservations at CSR for oct 26-28 and said YES we do have the free dining cards. Two of them at $50 each. She stated that as long as we booked with our AP's and used the code for the free dining card offer we would get the DC. She said the sunday through thursday deal was for guests not using the code. Has anyone else called and been told differently? :confused3

Sorry! I haven't been back to this thread for awhile!:rotfl2: The rule has always been that you can take nights off if you need to - the CM was just being snarky. I called back that night and another NICE CM did revise the Pop ressie to the dates I needed. BUT in the interim DH decided he wanted to stay at AKL.
That set off a whole other mess. I could book AKL online for the exact dates we needed WITH the dining card. I called and they said there was no availability at AKL.:headache: So I went back and booked AKL online. I was able to get our exact dates, add in our Magical Express info, pay my deposit and print out the confirmation that shows a $75 dining card. Our stay is Wed-Sun. I don't recall seeing anything about days of the week when I was juggling all this around, but maybe I just missed it?

I didn't see any restriction regarding days of the week either and booked my ressie online via the AP link. It showed the dining card will be given at check in which I printed out for our records. I've never had a problem modifying a ressie either including taking days off. Adding days depends on availability.---Kathy

The restrictions are listed on the AP website. I didn't see them either before booking but I've called several times to check and have been told each time that we have the free dining card even though we don't fit into the restricted days listed. I guess we will see at check-in if the CM's I've talked to know what they're doing. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

I did have trouble getting my dining card at POR. We were there 10/17 to 10/23. When I called to modify my ressie to the AP rate, I was told since my reservation fell on the dates and was staying the required number of nights, I would get my $50 dining card at check-in. I did have to move to POR from POFQ, and that was okay. No splitting the ressie or anything. I asked again point blank, "So, the $50 will be there when I get there, right?" And I was told yes.
Well, we check in late on 10/17 and front desk person knows nothing about it. Go to conceirge desk next day at his suggestion and they don't know anything about it, say I have to call Disney Reservations. Call CRO and the first CM I talk to, very nice, puts me on hold to find out about it and comes back and says I'm not eligible since I didn't check in on the 21st. Ask for a supervisor. Wait some more. I explain to her that I asked the CM who modified my ressie straight out that I would get the $50 dining card and I maybe wouldn't have moved resorts since the additional room discount wasn't that much more than my AAA room rate. Finally, she called the front desk at POR and had them split me into two reservations so I had to go down on Sunday 10/21 and check out and check back in and also put another room deposit down that showed up now as a credit against anything I charged. I did get the card but it took almost two hours of my vacation time and four people before this was resolved. Unfortunately, I left the piece of paper of who I talked to when I modified my ressie at home.
That's the danger in knowing more than some of the CMs who make reservations since the turnover is high, I should have kept asking are you sure we don't have to split this into two reservations now?
I'm not sure what to suggest you do after you get home. The supervisor told me once you check in they lose control of the reservation. But that's where I'd start, call the regular number and ask for a supervisor, at least they'll be able to give you a next step. Good luck!

Yes. You were definitely within the dates. We checked into CSR on the 25th (and out on the 28th) and had a problem getting ours too. I told the CM as he was pulling up our room info that we should have a dining card and he replied -"Yes, yes- I'm getting to it". He brought us out an envelope along with our resort map and I didn't even check it until we got outside- I assumed it was the card! Well, it was a card, just not the card. They'd given me an anniversary card. That's nice and all but I upgraded my room to a king (which I didn't get either) to get the dining card. Well we went right ba0ck in and our CM had left but another one was ready to help us out. After explaining for 5 minutes that it wasn't the "dining plan" or the "dining experience" we were talking about it they finally got a manager, looked through a stack of about 50 envelopes and found ours. Whew. The CMs do not seem very knowledgeble about the cards- including restaurant and food stand CMs. For example, we were able to use the card once out the two times we ate at the Pepper Market and we spent the rest at Epcot F&W booths but about 4 or 5 of the booths wouldn't take the card and acted like they didn't know what it was. The first time one of the booths accepted the card we started telling the ones that wouldn't take it that we were using it at the other booths - had much better luck that way. They just had to try it in their card machine and were very surprised when it was accepted. So make sure you ask them to at least try it.

Our card had an expiration date on it, so even if you did manage to get it now it might be no good when you go back. I too had called and made sure it was on the reservation but there was no mention of it on any papers I got from Disney. I had to ask for it too but she went somewhere in the back and came out with it. Took quite a while though. We used it at Le Cellier in one lump so I don't know about trying to use it at the booths but when I asked the front desk at POR they assured me it would be good there too.

I had thought it was a credit too but when we got there they gave us an actual card. When we paid at LeCellier, we just put the DDE card and that dining card in the folder and owed $4.96 after they figured the discounts for our meal. (Plus tip of course!) DS had the strip steak, I had the filet, and he had a beer. We got off very cheap for a wonderful meal!

Just to add to the confusion I think the restaurants aren't very clued in to this dining card. Our waitress at Cal. Grille told us she saw the card for the 1st time earlier that night when a customer presented it. She had to find a manager to explain what it was and how to take payment with it. Glad we were her 2nd card holders.

Very true...I used ours at EPCOT for Food & Wine booths and just about every Cast Member looked at it and asked me what it was. One almost refused to use it because he didn't know how to key it into the register. Someone else had to come over and figure it out. But eventually it got worked out.

Hi everyone,
Thought I would just add my recent experience with the dining card promotion. I had hoped to get an AP discount for my 12 nights in Oct at CSR but couldn't get it for the whole trip, so ended up taking POR for Oct21-23, CSR for Oct23-28 and POR again for Oct 28-Nov2. Since this was a solo trip, it wasn't a big deal to switch resorts a couple of times. When I made the reservations, I was told I would get a $50. dining card for each of my 3 ressies. But when I printed off my confirmations, it did not say anything about the dining card, so I called again and was assured that I was going to receive a card for all three ressies. When I checked into POR on the 21st, the CM said right away, "oh, I have a surprise envelope for you" :goodvibes Sure enough, they had my dining card. But when I checked into CSR, they had no record of this and didn't know what I was talking about:confused: After quite a while (25-30 min) we finally got it staightened out, but only because the CM was patient and talked to his supervisors and waited on hold for many minutes with CRO. For some reason the dining card did not show up for this ressie, and while they could see I had received it for the last ressie, it did not show up on my next ressie for POR either. So...CRO fixed that for my next POR ressie but said they couldn't fix the CSR one because I was already there:confused: But no worries, the manager gave me a credit of $50.00 on my account to be used however I wished:thumbsup2 It was unsettling that all did not go without a hitch, but they did take of me, and sure enough the dining card was waiting for me once again when I returned to POR.
As far as using the card goes, there definately needs to be better communication to the CM's about these special offers. The food booths at Epcot did take them, but the first time I used it the CM had to call a supervisor for authorization, as they knew nothing about them. From then on, I had to tell them to just process it like a gift card, very few CM's had seen them or knew about them. I tried to get a Margarita at the stand in Mexico but the supervisor refused to take the card. Just seemed funny because I had used it at the Mexican restaurant. Anyway, it was a great promotion and I am glad I was able to take advatage of it, it just would have been nicer if everyone was a little better informed.

When I checked in at the YC no one had a clue what I was talking about. A manager said she'd check and I'd have it the next day. Next day, no card. They actually told me to talk to my TA because there is no such thing and they didn't want her telling anyone else that there was! They gave me a $75 credit for the 'misunderstanding'. So beware with this offer.

We had no trouble getting ours, but I did call as soon as they were offered and make sure it was on the reservation. I don't know for certain, but I would imagine you would lose the 40%. You would have to book with the AP code that included the dining card and the room rate would likely go up. You can always call and see what they say.:)

You would have to change codes in order to get the AP dining card promotion. My discount on room only at Pop is 28% ($59) and my dicount at AKL is 32% ($145). You probably have the better deal. I am getting a $25 card at Pop and a $75 card at AKL for 2nd week of December.
