No.
It's not really common here.
I live in a province that's mostly surrounded by ocean, but people don't seem to well go drown in there.
They dont' drown in their pools either.
And I don't live really close to any lakes.

Um well this kid I know a couple years ago his baby sister drowned. :(
The babysitter wasn't watching and I think she either fell into the pool or the lake. It was really sad. :(

There has been some around me in Lake Erie. One of them was a guy that was going to be a senior this year at my school. He was on the football team and everything. It was really sad

I remember hearing about that on the news.
A year ago my mom's friends granddaughter [4 years old] drown in a pool at a family BBQ. Nobody was watching her and she jumped in the deep end, next thing they know she's floating to the top and not breathing.
Sad sad.

The last time I heard of someone drowning around here was when I was in sixth grade (4 years ago). There was a girl a year older than me and it was her step dad. I don't remember the exact story but he was a firefighter and basically he ended up being trapped under the ice (this was in winter) and he eventually drowned.:sad2:
One of my biggest fears is being trapped under the ice, I'm really scared to go ice skating on the lake...
