I'm taking my DH away in March 08 for his big 40 birthday in a lovely villa- couldn't think of a better place to spend it. We are both very excited :yay: It's the first time we've gone anywhere without our DDs too.

We've only been to Florida twice, this year and last. Each time we had DDs and DMil and DFil with us. We went where the majority wanted to go, esp for food.

I'd love some recommendations for places to eat. I'm not too bother about cost, prefer good food and nice service too. I'd like to make it a birthday to remember for all the right reasons.

Your help and advice very welcome.

Flying Fish (fish etc on the Boardwalk)

Vitos Chop House (steaks etc I Drive, classy, bit "Godfatherish" inside :) )

Moonfish (fish etc "Restaurant Row", Sand Lake RD)

Seasons 52 (all sorts, natural ingredients, well balanced, tasty but low calorie)
Sandlake again

All very good (but expensive)

You should try Blue Zoo if you like fish. It is an amazing restaurant and is at the Swan and Dolphin hotel. They do have their own website so you can check it out. Very nice place for couples.

Or California Grill when the fireworks are on:thumbsup2

There are a few nice places to eat at Celebration & then you can take a stroll round the shops or sit by the lake.

Also agree, California Grill is good - especially if you can see the fireworks as well.

Enjoy Bahama Breeze too!

For a birthday or extra special event it has got to be Victoria & Alberts in GF.
An unforgetable experiance to remember for a long time.

V & A has to be the top Disney restuarant ( not been myself)

highly reccomended is The old Hickery Smoke House at Gaylord Palms if you like steaks cooked to perfection.

There is a steak house that is not well known to most tourists, but is highly loved by the locals. It is called Matthews. It is located on McGuire Rd not far from Hwy 50.

Carrabas is very good if you like Italian food.

They all sound so yummy, I wish we were going for longer. It's going to be hard to choose, I guess that's a good enough reason to have another holiday back :rotfl2:

I would also recommend celebration - theres a really nice italian restuarant there cant remember the name of it at the moment though! V & A also comes highly recommended, although I have not been my parents went and they came home REALLY pleased with the service and food! It is a bit on the $$$ side but you do get lovely food and wine (costs extra but worth it) they also got a personilized menu to take away which made a good keep sake.

I booked a table there for DH's 50th birthday in May. Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. It's definitely worth mentioning that it is a special occasion when you book.

It was our first trip for just the two of us - and we booked a number of different restuarants in advance. I have to say that I found the California Grill to be a big disappointment. Definitely NOT a romantic venue. It was so noisy! Lots of kids running around too. And it was after 9:00 pm. Good fireworks viewing though.
