Since regular dining prices basically stayed the same, I doubt plat (approx 200) and premium (approx 150) will get any cheaper - come to think of it, that has pretty much stayed the same in the last 4 or 5 years.

Many dining options are not yet confirmed for the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan (see all of the blank spaces next to the restaurants).

No, I think all the ones listed on those pages for deluxe are included - those columns indicate char meal, signature, 2 credits, dinner show, tip included or 2 credits for pizza - not whether they participate. A CS location won't have any mark since it doesn't fit one of those categories but would still be a location to use DxDDP.

My friend who works at the resort said an outside company from California operates the food section (Pepper Market)and that they have NOT agreed on a contract for dining. Maybe that will change ???

Maybe its another cut by Disney to save a few dollars because of the CS meals being too many $$$$ JMO

these changes dont effect any trips(specifically lack of appetizer and no inclded gratuity)In 2007 do they?

That helps me make a decision. We were seriously considering changing our reservation from POFQ to CSR but if you can't eat on the dining plan for breakfast there that makes it easy! We will definitely be staying with POFQ! We love that resort but were kind of sad about not trying something NEW in '08.

Epcot restaurants are seriously stripped down too :sad1:

There are 11 LESS restaurants now in Epcot on the dining plan from '07!

This list of participating restaurants is really no different than what was originally released last Aug. Once contracts are finalized you will see many more added to the list. It looks like all the ones missing are those that are run by outside companies (CSR, many World Showcase, DTD). Just be patient and I'm sure more will be added, just like last year.

They were stripped last year in the early pamplet release, too. They were added later as the contracts were finalized. I imagne they will be added later this year, too.

Reservatioins will be even harder to get . Less places to eat at.
IMO its a disaster waiting to happen with unhappy guests with an expensive plan and few reservations.
Quote Disclaimer:
Q. Are reservations required?
A. Due to the popularity of our restaurants, dining availability may be limited or not available
without advance reservations.

Didn't that happen last year?? CSR wasn't on for a while for some reason or another and then it finally came on??

The Premium and Platinum are nothing new, I think they have had those for years. I do notice that those ones include the appitizer in your meals.

I find it interesting that it says " A gratuity may also be automatically added for ordered items not on the Disney Dining Plan" Hopefully that is just for things like alcohol.

Same as last year, the non-Disney restaurants, including restaurants in the WS, CSR and DTD, are not currently listed. My guess is Disney comes up with terms, and pricing, and then contracts with the restaurants. I suspect most of the restaurants will wind up on board.

I know that in the basic and deluxe dining packages that tips were not going to be included - did anyone notice that they are not included in the premium plan either! I was really hoping to do this but can you imagine how much that would add to a day in tips alone!

Did I read correctly that gratuity is no longer included with the dining plan, and that you no longer get an appetizer with the dining plan? I hope they cut the price of the plan to reflect the reduction in offerings.

I am unimpressed with this plan. The other seemed to work well, with few hassles. Can't have us guests getting too comfortable with getting a good deal....

For DH and I it would be about $50 a day in tips. Of course we would much rather have that included, but we'd still eat those meals with or without the plan. And maybe we'll eat a few more room service meals where gratuity is inlcuded.

I actually wonder if the servers are going to get as much in tips?
Will they still give us a check with all zeros where the prices are? Makes it tough to calculate how much to leave. If the dining plan isn't a good deal AND convenient to use...it might just be better not to buy it.

I've got a group of old folks (parents and aunts) lined up for a trip in 2008. Having to have that much extra cash for tips will be hard for us...it was nice before not needing to carry cash...it would just seem silly to put just a tip on a credit card....

I guess I'm just snarky and mean but I do not like this new plan, I'm not sure how it is an advantage to buy it...they've effectively reduced the value of the plans by hundreds of dollars in the tips that are no longer included and I really doubt any of that savings (to them, at least) will be passed on to us.

Especially with the premium & platinum plan....you are paying hundreds of dollars per day and now you need to come up with another 15-20% for each and every meal that you eat....surely the cost of these packages should come down to reflect that.

Okay, I'll quit complaining now.....

I will say that the current dining plan (2005-2007) had me making 3-4 trips per year. This plan will reduce me back to my old travel habbits. I really enjoy the all inclusive way of traveling. I have already cancelled one trip.

While I understand what you are saying, It dosen't make me feel better that several of my Jan ADRs aren't listed under the 2008 DDP. Wolfgang Pucks in particular. As a matter of fact, Cap’n Jack’s is the only Dwontown Disney site I see listed.

I just asked on another thread and then came here and found the answer I was hoping for, that yes restaurants are added (as opposed to just filling in the missing dots on the restaurants already on the chart). I'm with you - we're thinking about pushing back our trip because the deluxe plan sounds great for us, but not if 3 of our TS choices won't take the plan, and not if there is nothing other than Capt Jacks in DTD because we'll spend a full day and a couple evenings at DisneyQuest.

I have faith in my DIS sources. Unlike Disney CMs and the Internet at large, DIS advice has yet to steer me wrong. So I'll continue to do my  :dance3: over the deluxe plan and trust that more restaurants will be added over time. ;)

There is only ONE Downtown Disney offering at the moment.

No Earl of Sandwich, no Wolfgang Puck Express (or any of the other Wolfgangs for that matter), no Planet Hollywood. Raglan Road is also missing from the list.

As for Epcot:

No Marrakesh or Tangierine Cafe. I love Tangierine Cafe and go almost everytime.

No San Angel Inn or Cantina de San Angel either.

NO Pepper Market--although that has already been mentioned.

Reservations will be very hard to obtain for these restaurants that remain.

Probably not... in a few weeks Disney will probably add these resturnats UNLESS common sense has broken out with the management of them LOL! (Sorry, but I fail to see how they can be making much off thiis plan. Disney is making LOTS but that' s because to get dining you generally have to pay rack rate for a room and have a ticket. The resturants NOT owned by Disney don't get that income so unless Disney is "paying" them NOT to lose money on you.... which they must be.....)

The deluxe dining plan also had the appetizers listed for both lunch/dinner on it.

It looks to me like the deluxe dining plan is the *exact* same as the dining plans in the Premium & Platinum plans but without all the extras (recreations, tours, etc...).

Personally, for us, this is ideal. We went on the Premium plan last time and would have preferred just the food deal. I also noticed it's the exact same restaraunt list. When we went in 2005 there were some restaraunts on the Premium package that were not on the regular dining one. Doesn't look that way this time around so far.

It does look a little more confusing though with the 2 credits, etc... that wasn't part of the Premium before (and is now) but I'm still happy they came out with something like this.

Okay it is very late and my eyes are starting to cross, but maybe someone can help me out with this.

On the basic dining plan it is the same as it was without tip and app. for TS meal?

The deluxe is what is throwing me off it just says breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack credits. What does that mean in terms of CS Vs. TS. Do you get two CS a day and one TS or whatever you want? I know it is still early, but I would like to have a plan of attack for when the prices are released.

Well DH and I did the crunching a few nights ago and still believe that the Basic DDP we have been using over the past few trips will be an acceptable method of convenience for our next trip Jan 2008. We still feel it has perceived value for us albeight less value/savings then before. Now I will list some observations, opinions and questions:

1.) I will still be saving about $5 a day per person on the plan based on past experience and my upcoming ADR's. The gratuities taken away really hurts the pocket but looks like it is going to hurt all plans across the board, so we are all in the same boat.

2) I am there to experience the whole parks not eat all day so having 3 meals a day (on the Deluxe) to plan out and take the time, not worth it. I have rides to ride and shows to see. Basic is fine and allows me to have my favorites, taste a new place, and give DD a character meal here and there. But I know I am also lucky to be a DVC member and have a means to keep additional food items available (ie breakfast in room).

3.) I am disappointed in not having a choice between appetizer or dessert at the TS meals (not big on sweets). But will adapt, and will pay OOP for my lobster bisque at Chefs de France.......it is soooo worth it (and please do not stare when I lick the bowl clean of every drop, I just paid good money for it....:rotfl: )

4.) I think this will also push more people to choose the buffet experiences for the perceived value of getting more food/variety of choice/and an "appetizer experience".

5.) Question here: How will the plans dumping of appetizers work at a restaurant like Ohana or Akershus in Norway where appetizers are part of the meal experience (and apparently still one credit). What? Will the waitress say to a customer "Oh, you are on the DDP, I am sorry sir you will not be able to have the wontons, shrimp or wings, just the meat and bread pudding for you." All I am saying is that when I go to CRT on Jan 24th for lunch paying 2 credits I better have the Chef's Tasting Plate (Appetizers) placed in front of me, because as you know Cinderella has instructed her royal chef to start off my meal with the "specialties of the castle". :thumbsup2 And when Cindy says do it, you do it!!!;)

That all I have to say about that...........

Anything that is included with the standard meal will still be included with that meal on the Dining Plan. It isn't an appetizer, for this purpose, unless you would normally pay extra for it.

You get 3 meal credit/day -- it doesn't matter if they are CS or TS. So...yes, you get whatever you want in terms of meals.

Also with the deluxe the appetizers & desserts are included for both Lunch & Dinner.

Thanks so much! I was confused about this too. I'm having a grand gathering in 2008 and it really looks like the deluxe plan will eliminate all of the out of pocket meal expenses for us. Now that I'm getting used to the changes, I might like some of them. Of course it still stinks about tip no longer being included for most meals but...no matter what plan we choose there is no tip included so...I just hope Disney comes up with some easy way to do the tips so we don't have to carry wads of cash in the parks every day...charging them to our room and paying at the end is not a bad idea....

Thanks to all for posting the links. I'm glad for DIS!!

FYI -- We will NOT be doing the dining plan next year -- the loss of appetizer (which I enjoy more than dessert) and elimination of tip ($$$) does not make the plan worth it anymore. I rather pay OOP and not overindulge in sweets. Plus, adding the tip onto the meal really just makes this too expensive for what you get.

The plan was fine when you paid $1 more but got app + tip...who does Disney think they are fooling? Paying $1 less does not equal paying for tip and appetizer. This is crazy, IMHO. It's a great thing when you get Free Dining, but not when you are paying for this. Maybe they will learn in 2009...
