How many DVCers do you know?

I was just thinking that I know at least 3 other local couples in my "real life" (non-DIS) that are DVC members. Do you know any? Not that you have met online or through trips, but people you knew anyway in your everyday life.

I am always fascinated with the "small world" stuff!

The only DVC'er I know, I met on the boards and then shared an Illuminations cruise with.

Nope... my real closest people to being just friends are starbox and lisareniff... but we never knew each other before DIS.... at least from my perspective. I am a relative newbie 7/06... so my perspective is of recent times...

I know 2 couples from "real life":

1 couple are original owners with OKW, they have never added on anywhere else. We discovered that they were owners when we were having a casual conversation with them at a party. They solidified our decision to buy b/c of the great things they said about DVC.

The other couple have been casual friends of ours for years. We never knew that they were Disney addicts (like us) until I said something to them about buying a resale DVC contract. They had just bought a large Saratoga contract as their brother-in-law is a guide. We were the only folks that they had met that owned DVC as well.

It is a small world after all!!

I know of seven. Five are friends that live in my town, (4 of whom I met at our kid's elementary school) and two are my own relatives, :)

Actually, I CAN because my DH is a DENTIST! Isn't it great that they can understand your muffled words while their hands are in your mouth?! A real skill! But I digress...;)

I've never met anyone (in my real life) else that owned dvc, until yesterday. Of course, he was our salesman who was trying to sell us Marriott, so I guess I don't really know know him. :)

I know 2. One is my wife's aunt and the other works with my wife. We may know many more before long because many in our families and work friends are interested.

I've met other DVCers only through the DIS or at WDW itself.

Our nextdoor neighbors bought DVC after taking a trip with us! Then there's another family from my kids' school that we know. Our neighbors were chatting with the family next door to their camp and found out they also own DVC! My DH and I each have work acquaintances that are members also.

I know a family that has been going to WDW for years. But they also go on Disney cruises,etc. When I told them about buying into DVC, they told me they'd been members since the early 1990's!!! If I had told them I was buying they'd have gotten a referral bonus. I would have gladly used their names but they never once mentioned they owned DVC in all those years.

Maybe they thought I'd want to use their points! :rotfl:

I teach at an elementary school with about 30 faculty - there are currently 3 DVC members other than me. My DH teaches at a large high school. There are three other than him there. Our neighbors are also members. We had no idea that they were members until we ran into them at VB about 5 years ago. Sometimes when we know someone has been to WDW, we'll ask them where they stayed. If they were in one of the villas or the deluxes with villas attached - then we ask if they are DVC members.

Actually, I forgot about a co-worker of mine. So make that 1 for me. I didn't know that he was a member until after I bought into the DVC.

My neighbors across the street own at VWL and the couple who live two houses down have parents who own at OKW. Also had a former neighbor who owns BCV. Small world.

We know of none, zero, nada. We have lots of frineds who go to Disney, most on a yearly bases, some twice a year. But none of them will join.

We are the nutty Disney owners in the neighborhood. For some strange reason in my nieghborhood, its ok to visit, but you are "odd" to own. :confused3

I know four other households who own DVC. However, in our case it's more of an avalanche thing. Couple #1 bought several years ago. A friend of theirs bought while on vacation at WDW with them (#2). Then a bunch of us went on a trip together. Family #3 took a tour while we were down there and ended up buying on the spot. Couple #4 took the tour on the last day of our trip. I did, too, but I waited a few months to buy. On my last trip, I nearly gained a #5, but my cousin is still thinking about it. I swear DVC is contagious.

I did run into a DVC owner's daughter the weekend before my last trip. I was getting a pre-trip pedicure and the woman sitting next to me just happened to be going to the same resort at the same time.
