Hi Courtney.

Here's the casting call that Disneyland put out for their Tinker Bell back in 2005. I'd bet that it would be pretty much what they'd be looking for at Disney World, too.

On Wednesday, March 2 at 10 a.m. (sign-in at 9:30 a.m.) Disney Entertainment Productions begins looking for a sparkling female performer to embody the spirit of Tinker Bell. Soaring high above Disneyland, she ignites the new, nightly fireworks spectacular in celebration of Disneyland's 50th Anniversary.

Those auditioning should be trained aerialists, comfortable at heights over 100 feet, with the talent to move gracefully and the strength to hold a pose while suspended in air.

Height: 5'-5'4"; weight: 100-125 lbs. (All talent will be measured and weighed at sign-in) Auditons take place at The Disneyland Resort, 700 W. Ball Rd. Anaheim, CA 92802. Come to Visitor Parking located off Ball Road and Cast Place, check-in at Security Office and have a valid photo ID. Bring a headshot and resume, dress appropriately for extensive movement and you must be at least 18 years of age to audition. Entertainers for this show are covered under the terms and conditions of a collective bargaining agreement with the American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA). If you are not a current member of AGVA, you will be required to join the union.

Are you planning to audition some day? :tinker:

When I did the backstage magic tour last year our guides daughter had auditioned to be Tink a few months before hand. She said the same about the height and weight info that was posted above. She said that at auditions several hundred girls turned up! Many were cut straight away due to weight/height issues. Then they had to have auditions involving movement etc, interviews etc. Her daughter got to the final 10. They needed to see from these girls who could 'fly' gracefully so they put them in a Tink costume and basically hoisted them up on a crain and spun them around. They were testing to see who could keep their body position constant, look graceful whislt waving the wand etc. Her daughter said it was a lot harder than it looks and was cut at that point!
She also said that the day you play Tink you are contracted and paid for an 8hour shift, but only work 4 hours. Also if you are Tink that night you can not work in another location in the park during that day.
Our guide was telling us all this whilst we were watching the parade in which her daughter was playing a face character (can't remember which one, I think it might have been Alice) but she pointed her daughter out to our group and she came over to us during the parade to say hi, obviously staying in character whislt doing this.

When DS worked at DL, he worked with one of the Tinkerbelles that fly. There are several, and she, at least, had a "day job" as a choreographer. I'm pretty sure she used to be a dancer. Not only do they have to meet the weight requirement when they're hired, but they get weighed regularly. I'm not sure about this, but she told DS that they would weigh her just before the flight, and if she didn't make the weight requirement, Tinkerbelle wouldn't fly. One too many Twinkies and Tinkerbelle gets grounded!

Wouldn't think you'd want to test the strength of the line by packing on a few extra pounds:scared1:
