I am heading to Glace Bay, NS for work. I will only be there for a half day on Sunday August 12th, evenings from the 13th - 17th, and possibly another half day on Saturday the 18th.
Any suggestions on dining, touring, etc?
Thanks!

Do you have a car? Because if you do I'd drive into Sydney. We really don't have a ton of restuarants, but there is a Swiss Chalet, Chinese, the casino All Star Grill has good food, your usual fast food places. I am not really that familair with Glace Bay, I don;t have to travel there that often as I live in Westmount (outside of Sydney River) :)

I actually just found out that I will be staying at the Cambridge Suites in Sydney which I understand is very close to the Casino.
I will have a car and will be getting out of the office (in Glace Bay) around 6pm.

The Cambridge Suites is on the waterfront in Sydney and August 12 has some activities happening. It is the end of the summer festival Action Week so there is a free concert and fireworks that evening. I'm not sure of the performers but it is usually an enjoyable time. It is a nice walk any evening. The casino is a short walk away (great restaurant--All Star Grill) and Joe's Warehouse is just across the street (nice restaurant). As far as other things to do, you could always drive to Baddeck (about an hour from Sydney) or visit the Fortress Louisburg but the evening doesn't give you too much time. The Miner's Museum is quite interesting and it is in Glace Bay (good restaurant there as well). Check out the boardwalk in the evenings--there are often other activities such as buskers, musicians, etc. There isn't a lot to do in the evenings but possibly the hotel staff would have some ideas. Have a great trip!!
